External USB - Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooti

Is there way to conncet an external USB on the Z3? I recently bought the Z3 and I also own tha Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4. On the Tab as soon as i connect the USB via the connector, it recognizes it. The Sony doen't. Any ideas?

I don't know why, but my tablet also seems to have issues, but with connecting with cameras via MTP (which is something inherent in the Nexus, so Android). Connecting my DSLR to the tablet causes nothing. Connecting a Sony camera that is set to open as a USB mass storage works, but again, nothing happens if the camera is set to be opened as an MTP device.
I use Nexus Media Importer to read USB's and external hard drives.
Not sure if I'm the only one with the problem since no one has said anything in the thread I opened.

[Q] USB digital camera not being found on ASUS HD7 ME173X tablet.

I don't know if anybody can help me with this problem but I'd appreciate if anybody could, as I have 2 Asus HD7 Memopad (ME173x) tablets running identical to each other, same settings, same software, etc. I have a powered hub in an OTG cable connected to one of my tablets. When I hookup my Canon point and shoot digital camera to the hub, one of the tablets sees it acknowledges it pops up a window saying what program should I use for this USB device either Asus Gallery or the Asus studio or the Google camera importer, and everything works fine.
I unplugged the OTG cable from that tablet and plug it into my other tablet and I get nothing what so ever, nothing pops up. but I know its not a problem with the USB port on that second tablet because when I plug in a flash drive into it and load up the OTG helper I can see the flash drive with no problem using ES file manager. I just can't seem to get the camera to read on that tablet.
so I plug the OTG cable back into the other tablet and boom it pops up the pop up again and it works. I compared settings on both tablets and they're all the same settings identical. I don't remember what I did if I did anything to the first tablet to make it work.I think I just plugged it in and it worked.
I appreciate any help somebody can give me to figure out why the second tablet is doing this? If I have a setting that I need to do I like to know what it is or maybe I forgot a step that I did on the first one I can't remember thank you for your help I appreciate it.

Problem solved, problem solved! I solved the problem, problem solved! haha
I ran the app called USB host diagnostics on the the second tablet that was giving me the problem. It fixed the problem I then looked at the first tablet as I seen the program looked familiar. It was already installed on the first tablet and I remember running it before and well as you know both tablets are working.

How to put files through PTP?

Hello guys,
I guess I need help from you. I'm trying to connect my phone OnePlus One to FIAT 500 that features Blue&Me system. I've been at service several times and we just can't figure it out. All I want is to listen to music from the phone in the car.
Car radio doesn't recognize my OnePlus One. It says no source available. That happens if I'm in MTP mode. If I choose PTP, it recognizes it well, but there's no media found. And there's no media, because if I connect it to my laptop via PTP I can't create folders or put mp3 files in it. How can I fix it?
Additional facts:
I have Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom. It has internal storage that says Camera (PTP I guess) and MicroSD card. I can put music to Camera storage and it works perfectly in my car, while it doesn't from MicroSD.
If I try to put my USB stick I'm getting the same issue as with OnePlus One. My USB stick is in NTFS doesn't work, while in FAT32 does.

Problems with OTG connected USB devices

Ok, so has anyone else had problems with this..
when you plug in an OTG connected usb device (i have the same problem with usb drives and midi controllers so far) and in the notification bar pull down it will say charging usb device, and when you choose to switch it to something else, like transfer files or connect a midi device, it just goes right back to charging the device after changing it for a few seconds or until you tap the screen or check it again.
This has completely stopped me from being able to connect a midi device, and causes the usb drives to get hot, although I can still transfer files in an 3rd party file manager, but the notification bar will never stay in tranfer mode, and it has never gone into midi mode at all.
This is not an issue with my OTG adapter, as I also have the same problems with borrowed adapters, as well as using DEX. In fact in dex, if I plug in a usb drive and switch to transfer files mode it will crash. Has anyone else experienced these problems? Are any of these apps for OTG management in the play store useful for this? They seem to be useless based on the reviews except for testing a UTG adapter. Thanks!
btw I don't have root, my note 8 is fully updated to BQLA version.
Hi, check the battery! If internal resistance goes up so does noise.
Check the cable and connector on the phone as well.

S9+ not recognizing USB C Drive

I've been trying to find information about this on the web but I've failed to do so.
I bought a Kingston Micro duo USB C 3.0 and it worked a couple of times (I had to manually change to MTP) using the USB C connector straight on my S9+.
I've been trying to get it working again on my phone with no luck. Everytime I connect the USB C end on my phone, it will show on the notification tray "Usb charging device" and "USB connector connected", this last one will disappear in a matter of seconds.
I've set the default to be MTP using Developer Options and even select MTP for the device once it connects, but it just reverts its status.
I know for a fact the USB C end works because I can connect it to my computer (Windows and MacOS) and I've tried formatting it using a lot of different formats, still when I connect the USB C to the device it doesn't read it.
I managed to get the drive working using my USB C dongle (Which has 2 USB A 3.0, but no power passthrough) and connecting the USB A side to it and my phone recognized the drive instantly! So I formatted the drive using my phone, connected the USB C end on the device and it doesn't recognize it.
It seems it's just a bug on the Samsung device or something. I guess Samsung is moving towards USB C but they are not thinking on all the stuff you can connect.
I found this link https://us.community.samsung.com/t5...g-defaults-to-charge-other-device/td-p/183539 and this other https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-8/help/note-8-usb-otg-t3680207 but so far no solution.
Edit:
I just tested my drive with an S8 and it worked without issues (the USB C end) and was able to test it on another S9's and they don't recognize it.
Mine works without issue. Not sure what's happening with yours sadly. Edit - mine's the Micro Duo 3C, but I can't imagine there'd be much difference.
Same here. Today I had hard times getting to work my USB stick and a default dongle. Every time I inserted the dongle the notification goes "USB charging device" and changing to "transfer files" doesn't change anything. Playing a bit made a 32gb stick visible in a file manager (namely x-plore) and I was able to transfer files to it. But no PC recognizes the stick so far...

Android 8.0 Oreo issues with MTP connection to dSLR camera via USB OTG

I am struggling to get my Nikon dSLR camera to connect to my Galaxy S7 Edge (SM-G935F) using a USB OTG connection. My S7 is running stock Oreo.
I used to own a Galaxy S5 Neo (SM-G903F) running Marshmallow. When I connected my dSLSR camera using a USB OTG adapter the handset would establish a MTP connection and the Google Photos Camera Importer would start allowing me to view and transfer photos. I never had a problem with this method on the Galaxy S5 and found it a very useful tool.
Unfortunetely with my new Galaxy S7 Edge this connection method is very unreliable. When I connect the camera the handset always responds in some way but never in a way that permits me to succesfully download the photos. Most of the time the Importer app says "No MTP device connected". Sometimes the importer app displays an incomplete list of photos on the camera SD card. Sometimes the handset displays the complete list of photos but hangs whenever you attempt to download any of them. When I go to the folder that the handset has attemted to download the photos to I always find corrupted files whereby the image is distorted, most often with a horizontal stitching error and almost as if the communication has become corrupted during the transfer. In all situations it seems as if the MTP connection is unreliable. I have changed the USB OTG adapter with no success. I have also attempted to use the third party "Camera Importer" app by Syfer which uses the same MTP connection method but with the same lack of success. I therefore seems that this is an Android issue, not an app issue.
For extra info, USB OTG works for standard pen drives and SD card readers etc using a Mass storage connection, just not for MTP connections. Diagnostics using the "USB host diagnostics" app by Chainfire shows that my S7 edge has a fully functional USB OTG capability. Also, my friend has a standard S7 (SM-G930F) running Oreo and it also has the same issue! I have contacted Google but they have not responded to my bug report.
Please help, this is really annoying! Without a solution I am tempted to try downgrade the firmware to Marshmallow or Nougat to see if that works
