[ROM,TW]Note 4 port 5.0.1 - DarkLord rom v2.2 N910F BOB4 by Samsungviet for N900A - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Android Development

First of all, I'd like to say that I am not a developer. I am just a normal user here.
As you know, just because of our device N900A's boot loader is locked by AT&T and Samsung, we are not as lucky as other Note 3's users to enjoy Lollipop updates since the early of Feb 2015. Finally, we have been waiting until the end of Mar 2015 to get Lollipop updates. It is lucky enough for us to have Lollipop kernel to make the Lollipop roms for other Note 3 devices working on our N900A.
A very big thanks to @nambavuong for a great Note 4 ported rom for Note 3. With his permission, I have re-ported DarkLord Rom v2.2 by removing aroma installer from the rom so that it can be installed via Safe Strap.
You can find the original thread of DarkLord rom v2.2 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-tw-note-4-port-5-0-1-darklord-rom-1-t3017604. It is useful to find solutions for any bugs which you may be faced with.
How to install
Flash the DarkLord rom v2.2 from 4.4.2, 4.4.4 or 5.0 rom base with lasted SafeStrap. Both stock or custom based roms are fine. You can find step by step installation as followed.
Download the DarkLord rom v2.2 ROM from the download section below to micro sd card
Reboot to SafeStrap. If you are not on NC2, please follow this guide to know how to boot into SafeStrap http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-att/general/att-nj5-safestrap-t2957471
Wipe everything except micro sd card
Install DarkLord rom v2.2 ROM downloaded in step 1
Install the fixes on download section
Install the mods for the rom as you wish from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=58541397&postcount=3
Flash supersu from here http://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip UNLESS PHONE NEVER BOOTS UP
Reboot your phone into download mode
Connect your phone into the computer and flash the file "N900A_OC1_ALL_Other_Stock_Partitions.tar.md5" using Odin 3.10's AP slot
Phone will take up to 10' to boot. It depends on how many mods you install with the rom. Just be patient.

May be just me, but when my install completed, it was REALLY difficult getting the system to update or install any apps from the Playstore. I also noticed that none of the Google apps were installed. Gmail, Drive, Maps, Voice etc. Once I was able to get the Playstore to download, I was able to install them

You must flash supersu as the final step to have the phone boot.

Is it possible to go back to nc2 with Rodin after flashing this

Definitely possible.

No issues so far except for having to setup the proper APN. Other than that.... Running smoothly. Thank you for the porting this over.

Just install everything together, rom, fixes and mods or you have to go back and forth with flashing NC2 kernel for every single zip file. So painful.

By the way sanguinevn, GREAT looking rom. It's running really well.
Thanks for getting this together and out there for us to play with

Works great! Only issue I have is that SafeStrap no longer shows up in the boot cycle. It still shows as installed, and when uninstalled and reinstalled, nothing changes. BB is installed as well

Do we really need step 9? Or is there another way in SS to do it?
I just want to not use computer / odin

[ROM][Nov 09] Navalynt's Optimized Base | RC1 Update 2 | 1.23.1540.1 | T6UL (GSM Only)
Introduction
My intention with this ROM is to create an optimized but stable base that I can use for my daily ROM and from which others can customize for their own ROM releases. I have no intention of spending large swathes of my time with programming and debugging for custom features, many of which can be added through the Xposed Framework. As much as I would like to do that I just don't have the time so please don't take offense to the fact that I have no feature request section and may just plain say no if asked to add something.

Please feel free to take this base and build off of it to create your own custom ROMs!

How to install a Custom Recovery
There are two current options from Flyhalf205
TWRP v2.6.3.0
CWM v6.0.4.4 (touch or classic)
It doesn't really matter which one you use, it's all personal preference. Just download one, reboot to the bootloader (Power + Vol Up), and flash using the command fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
After flashing the recovery you'll want to reboot into the recovery and IMMEDIATELY make a NANDROID BACKUP. There are no RUUs available (that I know of) so if something goes wrong you need a backup you can restore! My personal recommendation is that you backup to an external SD card and also keep a copy of the clockworkmod or twrp backup store on your computer for safe keeping.

How to Install the ROM
ROM performs a FULL WIPE (except for internal/external SD storage)
First of all, have you made your NANDROID BACKUP yet?
Copy the ROM to either Internal or External SD (doesn't really matter)
Reboot to recovery and flash the zip file!

I can't really talk about the base except that the 1540 designation in the build number says it's a developer edition. The only way to know if it's going to work on your phone is to try it out. Just make a nandroid first so if it doesn't work you can just restore your stock ROM.
It should work so long as your phone model is t6ul.

The RIL files within the ROM are for US bands, so from what you are describing it's possible this ROM simply will not work with your carrier.
Edit: Added as a known issue for now. It would be awesome if at least one more person on O2 or an O2 based MVNO would test and verify.
After half day running, the Rom is quite stable, smooth, thanks guy.

Unlocked just means you can put in another carriers SIM card. If your phone wasn't unlocked you would get a popup asking to enter a subsidy code.
The RIL is the radio interface layer. In simplest terms it acts as the go-between for the operating system and the actual cellular radio on the phone. If the ROM has a RIL file that is not compatible with the radio in your phone then cellular data will simply not work.
That is what the problem sounds like to me because restoring your nandoid (going back to stock) fixed the issue. I've tested this ROM on several handsets with several SIM cards and had reports via PM from several users that this ROM is working fine for them so the only thing I can think of an incompatibility between the RIL and cellular radio.
We're still in the infant stages of development for the HTC One Max so there's probably going to be several other pronounced differences between handsets depending on where they are sold.
One thing you could try is pulling these files from your stock ROM and pushing them to the custom ROM:
/system/lib/libhtc_rilhook.so
/system/lib/libril.so
/system/lib/libril-qc-qmi-1.so
/system/lib/libril-qcril-hook-oem.so
The easiest way to do this would be use adb pull on your computer while booted as stock, then replace those files in the ZIP for the custom ROM before transferring it to your phone to flash.
If you try this please post what happens!

How about Viper4Android instead. There are A LOT of extra options to customize the audio with that than with Beats (which is really just a equalizer preset). Plus it's still being actively developed and the developers don't mind integration with custom ROMs so long as proper credit is given for the work.

I'll see if I can put together a supplimental ZIP file tomorrow which adds Viper4Android and update a FAQ section with info on it as well some info on using ROM Cleaner v2.0 to get rid of the Sense elements that are unwanted. I personally get rid of most of it but I don't want to maintain a separate "slim" rom or start maintaining a fancy Aroma installation unless it's absolutely necessary.

[NEW THREAD][AROMA][AT&T TouchWiz 4.3 Leak Port] Sky Note 4.3 RC9Z-3.9.1(12/13/13)

This is an port of Sky Note from our sister AT&T Note 2 variant. This ROM is developed by seanzscreams and wouldn't have been possible to be working on our Verizon Note 2 without the hard work of runandhide05 along with several others. Keep in mind that while this runs pretty well there are naturally bugs so be forwarded. I'll try to keep this updated as more bugs are found but so far from my time running this it's pretty smooth with a few exceptions.
I want to give thanks to lacoursiere18, scoobiesnack, runandhide05, WarlockLord (if I forgot to add your name let me know) for the hours of frustrating futile attempts to fix sms and for the logs and ideas that were passed around which eventually led me to the right fix for sms.
AngryManMLS originally started this port so if you like this rom be sure to give him a HUGE thanks for all of the hard work he put into this. He has moved on now to help on other projects and I will be continuing the development on the port.

I just tried it and it did take forever to get past the boot screen but it finally came up. It is odd that some people are having trouble and others aren't. I may look into the boot.img , I will note that I did my Nandroid with note 3 features installed.

Yeah I think I had it sit for close to 10 minutes then gave up. Tried on R8-2 when I had the Note 2.
And for those who are wondering why the change in things here's my post from the previous thread...

I want to thank everyone who has used this port, everyone who has contributed, and everyone who has posted in this thread. I've been very overwhelmed with all the positivity you have all given on the work that has been done. I can't emphasis on how many hours I've spent on this between testing builds, figuring out things, and what not let alone communicating with several of you privately on fixes. With that being said I'm officially handing the continuation of this ROM port over to stvn1337 as I've recently moved on to the Note 3.
Thank you everyone once again. It's been a great honor to have been able to for a small bit of time find a way to contribute a bit for our Galaxy Note 2 (outside of helping with Vanir ROM as well during the early days of 4.3 AOSP ROMs).

Well I have a note 3 also so I guess I'll see you on the other forums also. Thanks again for this rom it got me started on trying to make a custom rom of my own.
I backed up my entire phone... with my usb otg cable.. formatted the int sd card and ext sdcard. Then loaded this rom. Flawless other than no sms.. but sending as mms works. However how can I set it to always send as mms.

OK cool Thank you, yes I've got air command working here also. Wierd though cause I've been able to backup and restore like 3 or 4 different timHaes to and from this rom. The one thing that I can't get working on this rom is any handwriting? It won't let me pull up the handwriting pad at any time at all?

I don't know that you can? But if you do the "add slide" it will convert it everytime. The extra step is just a minor inconvenience until we can figure out the fix
Well people I have some good news and some bad news. I have the dialer working the bad news is I can no longer send MMS. I'm still working on it and hope to have it working in the morning.

You mean to dial in a call? If you go to *#*#4636#*#* and choose LTE/gsm/CDMA as your preferred network and then toggle airplane mode on and off , both dialer and MMS should work.

Xposed - Click this link and download the xposed-v65-sdk21-arm-arter97-V5-krait.zip version
Now click this link for XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk
Flash the v5-krait.zip in recovery and just install the XposedInstaller_3.0_alpha4.apk like a normal application
The dev has requested that all xposed talk remain out of his thread and it isn't to be discussed. This is because the rom uses heavy on the fly themeing options that might not be compatible.
I personally do use xposed on this rom, just not theme modules. Works great with modules such as Greenify, Powernap, Amplify, etc.
Installation
1. Download ROM and/or extra mods to sd card
2. (If already on Lollipop, flash NC2 kernel via NC2 Flashed by benwaffle or using Odin) (If on KitKat, then reboot to safestrap recovery)
3. Advance wipe everything except Micro SD card x 3 times
4. Flash ROM
5a. Flash Wifi Fix
5b. Flash modem (ONLY needed if you are coming from KitKat/NC2))
6. Flash any other mods if you downloaded them
7. Flash OC1 Lollipop kernel
8. Reboot system

Yes you do because this is a lollipop rom and you need the lollipop kernel to boot your phone up. You might need the lollipop modem if your signal isn't strong enough but it should be..

In the process of downloading the dark theme, but it looks like an Aroma installer. If so, you'd have to install via FlashFire
EDIT: Nvm I guess. I saw him mention Aroma settings and assumed.
We all know what they say about people that assume, of course...
Is there a way to boot into Safestrap after installing?

Dirty flash the rom again and flash dark theme right after that
After flashing the rom I can no longer access safestrap. When rebooting I don't have the option to load recovery nor is there an option once the phone has booted up (via the power menu or other). Can anyone help me with this? Am I missing something? Any insight would be appreciated.

Rom Video Installation Link
https://youtu.be/A3AbQHEjkRo
1. Watch Video (if downloaded old rom before V5)
1A. If downloaded V5 install as any other ROM use XAS or SPR CSC in aroma, reboot into recovery, clean kernel with cleaner, then install kernel of choice, reboot to system, wait 15 min. Profit.
2. Activate VM [email protected]
3. Give thanks or donate thanks for any donations

Does SMS/MMS and data work with this? Are there any quirks like some of the other ROMs, like if the other person hangs up first you lose data? Or is this like a Sprint based port similar to Sac's, where all native things work including updating PRL/Profile etc? If so that would be AWESOME.
Thank you. I've been waiting for something new for my note 3. Will try when off work

Please read the original post. This is not like sacs. I dont have that kind of time to have that correctly fixed but its in there I just dont know how to activate those feature (PRL, Profile Update). SMS works but again not fully for Multimedia. Use alternate app for text like Textra if you want full capabilities. I did reach out to Sac23 for advice but he stated and i quote "Its not as simple as copy and paste" "Plus i no longer have a note 3 with Sprint to be able to test" Yet if any other developer has the time to help me fix it id gladly welcome it. It does not have FC on hangup

When I tried installing it, it sat for well over 20 minutes on the Samsung Splash Screen.
TWRP 2.8.7.0
I have made a video of the installation boot up time was 9 minutes after the install of rom. ill post the video tomorrow after i edit it it has my phone number and i need to block it
Im on 2.8.7.0 twrp, ph1 firmware, ill try again. Dont understand, maybe its just taking longer then most. So it is supposed to sit on the samsung splash screen?

I added the video on the OP. Enjoy
Thanks for posting the video. I followed along exactly, and my phone gets stuck at the "Samsung Galaxy Note 3" screen. It never advances to the plain Samsung screen.

Same thing happened to me using Darklord kernel, tried the other kernel and would get to samsung screen and just sit, i left it alone for 40 min. Had to pull battery to shut it off, glad to know its not just me. It was driving me nuts especially after watching the video and knew i did it right.
Guys i figured out it was bad coding in the build prop i have fixed and retested on 2 different note 3s its working now im re-uploading the rom. I apologize for all the inconvenience @spaceshipunicorn @binaryimage

Darklord is back!
The masterpeice, this outstanding S7E MM port is being reborn with the power of NXTeam. This rom was ported from [bold][ROM][NXTeam][6.0.1][S7E Port][29.Mar.2017] DarkLord Reborn[/bold]. It has been updated to support SPRINT data and works upon boot. No need to flash MVNO buzbee, replace apns, or replace eri.xml. Upon initial boot, you need to enable mobile data toggle to use data.
The stock MMS/SMS app works. There is no need to use a third party app like textra to send mms.
I have tested this with LSS3.8 and DarkLord UX kernel. LSS 3.8 is included with rom.

Thank you so much
Thank you for keeping this phone live with this amazing updated ROM
Any of the mods that require a replacement of the framework-res.apk will break the Carrier information. Basically the updated framework-res.apk doesn't contain the correct ERI.XML to show "SPRINT"
as such, if you use a mod that breaks it.. just flash one of the MVNOBuzbee found @ https://mega.nz/#!oEAjXLhI!bI1-MVMDO...CTz-yfKLeCpqA8
I may look at repacking those apk's with the correct information if anyone is interested.

If you are on sprint, you shouldn't need to edit the APN settings. What CSC Did you select?
Thanks @mid3vil. I am using it on Tello, a MVNO of Sprint. So I need to edit APN setting for mms and LTE.

Does this pass Safetynet if you hide root with magisk? Can you disable this xposed framework (in the app itself) to pass safetynet or do you have to uninstall? If you have to uninstall, does it come with the uninstall file and will it break this mod?

Never tried any of the proposed ideas. Best solution would be to try it for yourself and see what the outcome is.

You need to select XAS under the CSC selection during install if you want to edit the APNs. Selecting SPR does not allow for editing of APNs.

Unless this ROM installs differently than the unmodified v4, you should have the option to not install exposed or uninstall exposed with an update reinstall... these options are in the Aroma installer.

Hey Mid3vil...
Thanks for exposing this ROM to the N3 Sprint section. I just found this thread but have been using this ROM since the beginning of March when V1 was released. This is by far the best MM ROM for the Sprint Note 3, and with the N7 SystemUI it provides a near Note 7 experience.
I assisted sczar with some information and feedback in making V2 work with Sprint, the final changes went into V4. The APNs should have been fine and did not need to be altered to get V4 to work. There are still some minor irritations that maybe can be addressed, but some of them may be just my phone acting up.
You already addressed one of them by tweaking the the framework-res.apk to update the eri.xml to show Sprint. I have been manually applying the fix after install by copying the eri.xml file to /data.
Another is the gps.conf file is wrong for Sprint (at least me and some others) and does not allow the gps to locate properly. I thought it was just me and ended up extracting the gps.conf file from the stock PL1 ROM, but then ended up making it into a flashable zip when someone else had the same issue and was looking for a fix.
Lately I have been getting an issue with the wifi disconnecting when screen is off and then trying to connect when screen is turned on... sometime is cannot reconnect and I have to turn off the phone and reboot it in order to get wifi to connect (just rebooting does not seem to work??). I have researched this issue on the internet and have tried every solution I could find... nothing seems to permanently fix it. Went back to stock for a few days and it would also disconnect when screen is off but would always reconnect again. Since this is a new issue I picked up in mid April, it might be a hardware glitch since my phone is now just over 4 years old.
Have been using the latest Phantom kernel with this ROM and it is fantastic... great battery life and performance.
Again, thanks for sharing this ROM with the Sprint community!

Thank you for the response. Sadly I couldn't get the V4 APN's to work correctly for me, so just replaced them. If I remember correctly, I made a few modifications to the build.prop (but i was messing around with a couple of roms at the time, so I cant guarantee that). As for a GPS lock, I have not had this issue, it has been working like a champ for me with the config from the V4.
I didn't modify the installer. I started to debloat the extra CSC's and options that dont pertain to Sprint, but wanted to keep as close to the initial release as possible.
I'm currently using Darklord Kernel (3.4.0-DarkLord-Kernel-Marshmallow-hlte-spr-V1.9)
This is really a nice ROM but I noticed one of the features that I love about my Sprint Note 3 stop working at some point. It's the ability to talk on the phone and surf the internet at the same time without Wi-Fi needed, total data usage. So I switch back to my previous ROM and noticed I was not receiving phone calls and lost the ability to call out yet data was still working. So I switch back to the stock ROM and did the PRL and profile update and still no ability to make or receive phone calls. So I called Sprint and they gave me a special telephone number of tech support to call. They notice my phone somehow
switched Networks They even asked me if I done something recently like trying to reset my phone or switching Networks providers. The tech support person said to give him a minute and said the phase " they will put my phone back in line" so It will work properly. They asked me to turn off my phone and wait 2 minutes and turn it back on and my calling service was restored. I'm not sure how that happened other than when I tried to use the voicemail by pressing one I heard a Verizon recording but then went into settings and put my own number in it for voicemail. So I'm back on the stock for now but I really miss the nice features. Keep up the good work.
I was not having any issues with GPS lock issues. I saw a post 2 years ago about taking the back cover off of the Note 3 and removing the black cover and you will see a tab for the GPS that may have popped off if the phone was dropped. I secured it with a piece of tape and GPS has been spot-on ever since going on 2 years now. I hope this help with other Note 3 users
Does Samsung Pay work? Mine doesn't and I am not sure what the problem is. It hangs on the 'Samsung Rewards' windows.
I have read where Samsung Pay does not work with a rooted phone... but there may be some workarounds using Magisk systemless interface and the AutoMagisk app to toggle off root... I have not tried this though as I do not use Samsung Pay.

Thanks for the idea of using DL kernel... I haven't used it for some time since experimenting with tweakable kernels (LSS, shinto, phantom)... have been using the DL 2.0 kernel for over a week and have not had any wifi issues... went back to try the new LSS and phantom releases and wifi issues returned with both... interesting that DL kernel does not have this issue but the other kernels do... also interesting that I did not have any wifi issues with the other kernels for over 6 months, then began having issues during the beginning of May... I still suspect a hardware issue, but the DL kernel seems to be more forgiving than the others.
Is there any reason you are using v1.9 instead of v2.0?

Yes there is a very good reason I don't use 2.0. I've been too lazy to grab a copy and test it out
Do you still have that flash able zip for gps? I constantly have issues w it the gps not getting a complete lock and it is off by a block or 2 so I am getting delayed directions or constant route changes.
