Setting alternate system app defaults... - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

How can this be done?
For example:
Changing the default Gallery app to another from the Play Store. Not just for a few instances but system wide, like wallpaper setting or contact image setting.
For reference, I'm using a debloated ROM that had Camera, Gallery, and some others. I've found replacements I like but would still like to have use of the lock screen shortcuts and other features, but using these new apps.

I may be a bit late here and its disappointing that nobody answered a simple question.
Isn't it in the menu for settings? Swipe over to Applications and look for Application Defaults. Also, some may be located under the Phone, messaging, and Contacts option in that same tab. If all else fails there's a "clear defaults" option. Do that and then as you open those apps, selects the one you want to use by default.
Some apps have a "set as default" option also.

[Q] App associations after build.prop edit

I am rooted, and modified the build.prop to change the app associations lock due to the Apple patent. I can open my Youtube links in the Youtube app, and my calendar invites in the calendar app. However, my web links still open in the stock browser, and I do not get the pop-up to select which app I want to use. The app associations menu in the settings is now gone with the edit. How can I set which apps perform which actions now?
Thanks
Go to settings->manage apps->Internet and press clear defaults. You should get the menu then.
Perfect, thanks!

[Q] Resetting what "People" uses to find images?

On ICS, the People app - I was looking at a contact and wanted to change the picture. By mistake I set the wrong app to open when i change the picture. How do I undo that?
I tried finding the people app int he apps list and clear settings, but it still uses the wrong app?
Go into Settings, then Applications, then Manage Applications, and find whatever app you set to use as default (the one you chose by accident). Tap it, and then on the screen that appears find the button "Clear defaults". Tap it. Then this app should no longer be the default for that task.

Click to collapse
Wow that's insane. So instead of removing the setting for the app that USES it, you remove the assassination for ALL apps that use it? Good design there Google.
But thanks for your help!

[Q] Build.prop edit, app associations not working

I just flashed the 2.13 stock ROM, edited my build.prop to get around the linkify issue (ro.da1.enable=false, etc), however, the App associations menu is still listed in my settings menu, and my calendar app now points me to the browser instead of the calendar. On top of that, I don't get the pop-up to choose which app I want to use, even when I clear defaults.
Is this a known issue, and is there a fix out there?
Thanks

Looking For Specific App

I'm looking for either option A or option B.
A) An application that requires a passcode to open, and view apps(that were otherwise hidden before, using Nova Launcher). It acts like the private picture gallery, but instead its an app directory.
B) A way to set a password to folders in Nova Launcher.
I know there's Guest Mode now, but it goes to factory stock. I don't want people to even know I have these specific apps, not even a visual of the icons for the apps.

How to disable this slide out menu?

When I swipe either the right or left side of the screen I get this menu that pops up, it consists of a Google search bar, common apps, recent apps, settings shortcuts and an annoying ad. Is there a way to disable this? This is basically a brand new G5 with no custom launchers or anything like that.
Thanks-
Dan
I think that's a third party app. CanĀ“t remember the name. But you should be able to uninstall it.
I don't see anything unfamiliar in my list of apps?
I did download the LG Home 4.0 app and install it. Maybe its part of that?
It's not part of LG Home, it's definitely a third party app especially given its ads for other software. Perhaps it was synced with your other apps or installed unintentionally some other way.
App drawer may not show all apps. Try to check Play Store > Sidebar > My Apps and Games > Installed tab to see if it synced an older app perhaps. To find a more comprehensive app listing, go to Settings > Apps > Select "All Apps" from the drop-down menu. Review that list carefully. Alternatively, you may try downloading a dedicated app-management app (e.g. AppMgr III) off the Play Store.
I found it! It was installed as part of ES File Explorer, it's a "feature" called ES Swipe. Its annoying and now it's gone....
Its an app I think called swipe it gets installed with ads, u can uninstall it ..
