I know I'm posting this in the AT&T Note forums, so the responses might be a bit biased, but here goes anyways. I was very interested in the Note from the first time I heard about it. Today I finally got around to going to an AT&T store and comparing a few phones. I was very impressed by the Note's screen, but I found it to be just slightly too big. It almost seemed like it would be perfect if it were 5.0 inches, not 5.3. Anyways, I was also very impressed by two other phones: the LG Nitro HD and the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket. I've compiled a list of pros, cons, and prices, focusing directly on comparisons between the three phones. Pros are "+" and cons are "-".
Samsung Galaxy Note ($299)
+ Dat screen! Beautiful large Super Amoled display
+ Great battery life
+ Good development support
- Slightly awkward to type with
- Pen not as accurate as I hoped (perhaps problem with it being a worn out display unit)
- Phone was just too big for my hands.
Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket ($199)
+ Much nicer screen than expected, I was worried the low resolution would be a negative but it was hard to tell to my naked eye
+ Great development support
- Slightly too small
- HD Version coming soon
LG Nitro HD ($99)
+ Very nice sharp, colorful 720P IPS screen
+ $200 cheaper than the Galaxy Note
- Slightly too small
- Poor battery life
- Poor development
I dismissed the HTC One XL because it lacked a removable battery and SD card slot, but I might reconsider it because it seems like it would fit the screen size I'm looking for. I've just been waiting for so long before I was eligible for an upgrade, and the waiting is getting annoying. Is the Samsung Galaxy Note worth the extra cost and getting over the awkwardness? I was convinced I would fall in love with it when I finally got to use it, but that wasn't really the case, so I'm a bit hesitant. Let me know what you think.
Put it this way I paid 650 full price, so I'd say yes lol. Deff worth the extra "upgrade" price compared to those others you listed.
I had the skyrocket, it was a great device, but still prefer the galaxy note. So yes its worth the extra money. The battery life is longer, the screen is just goregous, you can definately notice the difference in screen quality from the 2 especially after using the skyrocket for a few months. My s-pen is accurate as long as i dont have it leaned too far sideways. also got use to the screen size in a day or 2, i can actually 1 hand text with ics keyboard
Wait for the HTC one x if you can. Sounds like that screen size will fit you perfect

Personally, price for me wasn't even a thought. Not that I'm rolling in money... actually the note broke the bank for me. But this is something I use all day every single day. With something like that I don't consider price. It's more a matter of which phone you will enjoy the most and which will be most useful to you.
I am torn as well. I owned the skyrocker prior...the nitro is on sale for 49.99 and you can get the skyrocket refurbs for that price.. .hell the vivid refurb is a penny.
I have a ton of obligations i could put the money towards if I take the note back

100 bucks extra over the lifetime of the phone comes to $4.16 a month. But for me, it was worth 100 just to play with it in the last month. Love this phone!

Similar to what JPEG is alluding to, the answer to "Is $100 worth it?" is heavily dependent on how you evaluate the situation. I use my phone so frequently and for so many things that $100 is well worth the increased productivity and avoided frustration. Those other phones may be cheaper up front but the cost of the frustration and decreased satisfaction from a cheaper phone every time you use it for the next two years is far larger than the $100 you pay. This is a top shelf phone with a top shelf price.

I got the phone for $150, but I think it'd definitely be worth full price as well. The screen is amazing and you adjust to the large size in just a few days.

I don't work for AT&T - and your money is your money so I can't tell you how to spend it. But I can address your cons from my perspective.
I agree that it seems slightly awkward to type with... or it did. I tried a bunch of keyboards and settled on Smart Keyboard Pro. I'm now just as fast on the Note as I was in the iPhone 4S. Spend a little time and you'll find the right fit for you and the screen (which may not be the same keyboard you used to use).
Pen accuracy - it'll improve as you adjust to the device. My first couple days with the phone I thought the pen was a gimmick. Now I've come to find it's a great tool and I take a ton of notes with it.
In the store the phone felt stupid big to me. And like you I felt it was just too big for my hand size. Reality is (and many here will tell you) - you adjust to the size and it takes on an almost normal feel. I think your hands are accustomed to the size of your current phone and so anything larger feels, well larger and out of place. Sure no matter what (unless you have Shaq hands) the far side of the screen is going to take an adjustment to reach, but the act of holding and interacting with the device will normalize in a short period of time. For me it was about a week and it stopped feeling awkward. Now after about 2 and half other phones just feel (and look) foolishly tiny.
The short period of time (even if it was an hour or two) in the store with the phone is (for me) - not enough to really get used to the Note or determine how you're going to feel about it. Its a fabulous device that's worth getting to know. Take the 30 days and if you don't like it pay the restocking fee. But I know for me - there's very little chance mine's going back to AT&T to get put back on the shelf.
Now, for one other recommendation: If you get the white - get a case or order the black back from Samsung fulfillment. The white back is slick as snot. I put the black one on and the grip is excellent.

Thanks for your advice! I'm glad to know that it just takes a little bit of getting used to. I'm very excited about this device, I was just surprised once I finally got my hands on it. I don't really have much to lose with the 30 day return window so I think I'm going to go for it. The development seems to be getting better every day, and I love tweaking my devices and getting the most out of them. I also am in big need of a new device for watching movies, listening to music and playing games (mostly on emulators). I think I will really enjoy doing that with the Note.
I was struggling with the same problem as the OP, just wasn't sure which to go with. I ended up deciding, mostly because I'm signing a 3 year contract, that I would go with the device with the best hardware, being the Note. I was worried about the size possibly making it awkward, but what I've found after owning it for just about a month now is that It's actually perfect.. My hands aren't small, but they're not huge either, and I can use it one handed for 90% of what I use it for, but I love tilting it on it's side and typing with two hands. I owned an HTC Touch Diamond prior to this, it has a stylus as well, and I found I'd always use the stylus for some of the smaller icons, well on the Note I hardly ever have to use the Stylus, just use it for editing photos really. The stylus is hardly noticable, if you use it great, if not then hey it's just an extra.
I think you'll get used to the size very quickly, and once you do, you'll have a super hard time going back to any other phone. I still have my Diamond Touch, use it as an alarm clock hah, and I get SO frustrated trying to manage it's tiny screen, and I remember when I first got it thinking it was perfectly sized haha... Oh how times change.
Imo phones like the Note are the future. I have a samsung laptop as well, 17" beast that I carry around a lot, and they make an awesome pair. It's kind of funny too, as they're both Samsung units, the stock back piece for the Note matches the edges of my laptop. Very esthetic combo. (RF711 laptop if anyone cares. )
( Also I type roughly 100wpm on a regular keyboard, so texting on phones has always been super tedious for me. When I tilt the Note on it's side and use the larger keyboard I can type faster then I ever have on a phone before. It's actually amazing I love it hah. )
I think the note has ruined me!!!! I've been using it for 7 days short of a month now and I have to say I loooooove it!!
I was skeptical of leaving IOS for android. I've played with android b4 setting up my GF's rooted nook color as a tablet
and its really buggy at times, I kept thinking to myself hmmm if the phones are this buggy then I'm gunna hate it!!!
But I took the plunge and haven't looked back since its very smooth and very few bugs. the size was giant to me
at first, but It has really become normal to me now. I pick up my old 3gs and I'm feel like its a tiny little toy!!!! LOL
So I say yes it is worth the price!!! I'm a photographer and I love showing off my photos on this phone!!!
I dont have a note so I cant speak on that front, but I can tell you the LG Nitro is what I would NOT go with. Played around on it a handful of times and every time it was slow and somewhat unresponsive.
If HTC one x is going to be unavailable for your network then go for Note. I moved 4s to nexus galaxy to Note and must say would not swap this device for any othrr device. Of course when One X is available that's a different story.

I hate to say it but I'm actually not that much in love with the s7 edge. Coming from a note 5 I can't tell the upgrade. Maybe I'm just a note fanboy but something seems to be missing for me.
Coming from a Note 4, this thing feels great (but Note 4 was nice). This is an upgrade in everyway, except for no S pen, which i did not use too much. This phone should last me a while, lovin it.

Is it the S-Pen, maybe?
I am loving it. In fact I haven't felt this way about an Anrdroid Phone since the HTC EVO 4G back in 2010.
have the stealth black 935F version, really nice! the only thing I would change is the Samsung logo under the grill.
of course you will really love it! its a $870 phone
The only thing impressive about this phone is the battery life. Not feeling the love.
Coming from a Nexus 6p,it is a good phone. I would actually change and go with the regular s7 but I don't want to give up the 600mah in battery life. This battery is bigger than the 6p but it seems to last longer than the 6p.
I don't love it yet, but there's a definite attraction that could develop into something over time. Then of course after a while the excitement will fade and everything will just seem stale and mundane. Maybe I should get another phone to see on the side to keep things fresh.
I may be writing this prematurely, as mine is on order and should be here early next week. But I've been using the S6 for the past year, and the S7 edge seems to solve the few problems I had with the S6. I've read all the reviews I could find, and my needs for a larger battery and the SD card make this phone almost perfect.
Getting mine on the 18th,kinda feel excited seeing more positive. Yay.. hope i wouldn't get the lemon though.. lol

This is always my fear. I already have a iPhone 6S as my daily driver that gives me no problems and a Nexus 6 that I rarely use because the 6S is so much faster. I'm afraid that if I get the S7 and compare it to the 6S speed wise I'm just going to be disappointed with the purchase. To be honest I've played with the S7 like 4 times at different stores and every time my 6S feels faster but I miss Android and the S7 Edge looks so much better. Just today I almost walked out the door with a S7 Edge at Target only because I was told that I could stack a $100 upgrade giftcard with the $100 preorder giftcard and Gear VR. I guess they figured out that you can't stack the giftcards so I walked out the store empty handled. $200 in Target giftcards and Gear VR would have sealed the deal.
So now I wait to see the G5 (I want the IR blaster, on screen buttons) is any good but it all depends on price. Then you have the HTC 10 but I'm not holding my breath. If those disappoint it looks like iPhone 7 and maybe a Nexus towards year end. The current Nexus 6P is dropping now but I already have a Nexus 6.
I LOVE THIS PHONE. Even TouchWiz, I can't believe it. I actually love TW now.
Coming from the Note 4, the width of this Galaxy S7 Edge is near perfect. Still features a big beautiful display but it doesn't feel like you're palming a small tablet. On top of that it's a beautifully crafted device. Easy to pickup and a joy to hold in your hand. Not to mention it's fast. Everything is fast. Opening the camera is fast. Multitasking. No lag. The app drawer snaps open. The camera hardware / camera app and fingerprint scanner also score high marks in my book. Camera pro shooting mode is the camera app I've hoped Samsung would have given us for some time. I suppose better late than never. Fingerprint scanner is every bit as nice as Apple's. I hated having to swipe down on the button and I ruined my first prints because I still thought that was how it was done. I realized you just set your finger down and it reads it. Done. Whether it's to unlock the phone, input a password or use Samsung Pay it's easy the way it should be. Special shoutout to the guys who brought back the S5's expandable MicroSD and waterproof exterior design. Aside from root, this beast covers all my bases.
Re: Battery, I've spent the whole weekend fiddling with it and syncing all my data so I'm not even thinking about battery life, screen on time, etc. At the end of the week I'll have a better idea of how the battery fares. For now, way too early to call.
I'm looking to move on from the Z3v in the near future. I'm curious what phones others have moved on to. I'm looking at the Moto G4 Plus possibly with 4GB RAM and 64 GB on board.
I'm trying to keep my budget to <$300. Any ideas?

I moved onto the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, but that was because of a BOGO deal last year.

The Moto Z is a truly modular phone that LG failed for its G5 to become. This is the Play version, but I'd rather much prefer the Force version as it has a bigger battery, better camera, and shatterproof screen tech. Either version comes with 32GBs, which isn't a problem to deal with when you can have expandable memory. It's not waterproof like the Z3v, but it's still splash resistant so I think streaming it in the sink won't do any harm if you want a quick clean. lol

Appreciate the response. I have an S7 for work which I really like, and I'm tracking the Edge on Swappa. I do like this phone. Unfortunately, I am locked to VZ, and that Moto Z Play Droid offer, which I was on the verge of ordering yesterday, is for new lines only...so regular price is $17/mo ($408 total) and that is just too rich for what I consider a "compromise" phone. I can get a mint condition S7 on Swappa for $330 or so, which is clearly superior.

Oh, it's always those fine print words that gets you. I forgot to even think that you have to get a new line to take advantage of the discounted price. If I read and knew about it, I wouldn't have recommended it to you.
For a mint condition S7, that's pretty good for $330. The flat version allows you better accessorizing like tempered glass and more variety of cases. Definitely make a go for it.
I tried out the LG G6 for a week. Then, I got on Ebay and I ordered a new, in box Z3v. Why? Because this phone cannot be beat. I'd move to AT&T and get a newer Xperia if it wasn't such a hassle or cost so much. After my screen kept registering a touch (after 3 years of working fine) I had to replace my original Z3v. I could keep the LG G6. It just wasn't $600 worth of improvement. In fact, the lack of the front facing stereo speakers was so annoying that that's what did it in for me. Maybe it was faster (I couldn't notice). Maybe it was on a newer Android version (There were a few neat improvements there.) Maybe it had a better camera (Again, after using Xposed to set my default auto to 20MP - I couldn't notice it.) Maybe it has better resolution (It must just be me but I couldn't see any improvement from full 1080 on the Z3v versus the LG G6. Maybe my eyes just can't see pixels any smaller than 1080).
So - to make a long story short- I walk into to Verizon to turn in my LG G6 before I couldn't and they were like "why?" And I was like because it's worse than what I replaced. I got what I had had on Ebay for $120 and I'm perfectly happy with it. They were like "What was it?" And I said a Sony Z3v and they were like "Yeah, you Sony people love your phones, don't you."

The front facing stereo speakers, flawless performance and still excellent battery life are hard to walk away from. Keeping it until another phone with stereo front facing speakers is available. Too bad people gave this phone such a bad rap an Verizon didn't support it. It was/is the perhaps the best phone Verizon possibly ever carried.

Actually I'm surprised I haven't moved on yet too! The battery life is still good... I'm still getting about 5 hours screen on time. My phone is no longer waterproof however as a couple of the flap/covers are missing...lol. My options are a little limited on Verizon for a replacement... don't like Samsung curved edge devices and Moto mods are not my thing. G6 looks OK but my Z3v still works perfectly fine so I'm not sure I want to give up yet. Hoping the Pixel 2 or Note 8 will trip my trigger. What do you have now?

I have the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. The S8/S8+ curves are perfection because the S7 Edge's are way too curvey, but I guess I'll wait to upgrade later.
That's pretty great you still have 5 hours of SOT. I'm not getting anywhere near that unless I just watch movies on my S7 Edge because of how poorly optimized Samsung is with their software. I only find it problematic that the Z3v can't go into Marshmallow because the 801 chips are supposed to be able to do it. Doze mode is really helpful with that.
The Note 8 is a definite must with all its bells and whistles. The Pixel 2 is something I would have to see when they announce it because the Pixel 1's design language looks bland. The G6 seems like the reasonable upgrade from the Z3v, but the UI is different for my taste and you have to be weary of LG's bootloop issue.
I've moved on to the Note 8.
I have the S8+, but the edges and corners are too rounded. The extras, like the dual camera, more RAM and the Spen are great. I definitely love the form factor of the Note 8 over the S8+.
I am NOT a fan of the beveled edges! And the lack of stereo speakers is tough to take on such expensive models that are otherwise so feature rich.
Meanwhile, I am buying new batteries, adhesive gaskets and glass backs for both Z3Vs, which are in brand-new shape.

Aha, I've moved onto the Note 8. Once on the Note, I don't think I could ever go back to another smartphone. The S Pen is a jewel and the form factor is definitely a step up above the S7 Edge I had before and the S8/S8+. Albeit it is quite a tall phone though.
My Z3V is just sitting on my desk, reverted to factory image and all. Why buy new parts in repairing it though?
The batteries have crapped out. To replace them is a nightmare that involves removing the glass back with a heat gun. On videos I've seen, the adhesive gasket is unsalvageable. And since the back is glass, I figure there is a good chance of breaking it.
The parts are cheap, and both of my Z3Vs are in perfect shape with their boxes.
I'm fondly recalling my z3v while I enjoy writing this post with the S pen on my Noto 8. Ressurection of the Z3V is really all about the stereo speakers!
So its there, in the Samsung Experience. I have had every Note, now with s8 plus and i was STILL taken aback at how big it is. its fast though. Camera is nice and the new 'live' is a lot like the Mate 9 (which I think implements it better).
I really want to lay my hands on one!!!

So its there, in the Samsung Experience. I have had every Note, now with s8 plus and i was STILL taken aback at how big it is. its fast though. Camera is nice and the new 'live' is a lot like the Mate 9 (which I think implements it better).

it does feel bigger than s8 plus as its squarer. but that will mean less reflectivity than s8 plus. I RECKON IT WILL LOOK HUGE NEXT TO V30, IPHONE 8, MATE 10, PIXEL XL ALL WHICH WILL BE S8 SIZED.

I have a Note8 back cover and Note FE. The Note8 is about the same size as the Note FE when in a back cover. Not a massive increase over the Note 7/FE.
I played with one at best buy yesterday it didn't feel big to me. It felt smaller than I thought. Maybe because it's narrow

Probably similar to the S8+? I was expecting it to be huge in the hand before I bought the S8+ but it's not what you would expect since it's narrow.
Had my hands on one today at the Best Buy near SouthCenter Mall in Tukwilla, WA. Awesome device, feels MUCH better than the S7E

I compared the note 8 to my note 4 in my UAG case and they were close in size. I was pleasantly surprised.
My Ringke Fusion Note 8 case came yesterday so i decided to jam my note 5 in there to compare lol..
as you can see it's in there but it is a bit warped so the note 8 will be slightly less wide than the note 5 but quite a bit taller
I also put my S7 Edge in there too and there was plenty of room, enough for it to rattle side to side when shook
Stopped by Best Buy earlier today to check out the Note8. It looks so tall and dumb in photos, but in person it looks fantastic. After using the N8 for a few minutes, my Note5 feels like garbage. xD
Had it in hand yesterday. I don't see why people are complaining about a camera hump! If you want to see a big camera hump check out the iphone!
The camera seemed very fluid and processed pictures nearly instantly.
This reminds me of the Note7 vs. S7E. Instantly I was in love with how the camera software worked on the Note7.
In my opinion it feels very large in hand, but that could be because I am coming from a S8. Compared to the N7 I think the size is comparable. I like the camera and the display seems very sleek and bright (but I would expect nothing less from Samsung). I am not sure if the huge price tag is justified as it seems like a N7 with a dual camera. Still getting it though
Note 9 was announce today and all the leaks were right it will be a clone of the Note 8 what's small little cheap upgrades like little bit bigger battery S-Pen take pictures and crap. The biggest disappointment was the finger print scaner that they have ready but decided to say screw you to Note customers. Samsung is trying to pull a Apple on us. Big big disappointment and Samsung wonders why the S9 was a flop why? Because you made the S9 just like the S8 to save money. Then you do the same mistake again with the Note9? Samsung you want to sell a lot of phones... Every year pack the new phones with as much new tech and change the design it's that easy. Samsung knew the S9 was a flop and why it was a flop and yall still put out this clone Note 9? I am sticking with my Note 8. Might see what other companies are doing since Samsung stuck us with this crap. Good way to loose customers. Are yall going to be suckered into the Note 9 or sticking with the Note8

There's always a thread like this. I love my Note 8 but will definitely get the Note 9. Take a step back and look at the specs... It has EVERYTHING a power user could ever want. Best screen, biggest screen, stereo speakers, massive battery, top processor, massive memory at 6gb, insane at 8GB.. and 512GB storage!!!!! It is the BEAST! I can't wait!
Will not get it, if you have a Note 8, it's barely a decent upgrade and not worth wasting your money.
I might get the next large iPhone X that comes out or the Pixel 3, but if they don't interest me, I'll keep my Note 8 for another year, its been a great phone!

Huawei is coming out with a phone with a 6.9 in screen super slim and it has 8gb ram and 4,000mah battery. The only thing I am impressed about on the Note 9 is 8gb of ram 512GB I barely use my 64 gigabytes on this phone and if I need more I have a 256gb card in my phone too. This will flop just like the S9 did all they had to do is put that damn finger print scaner in the display and this Note9 would've been their best selling phone by far Apple fans wouldve bought one. But no they screwed us and held back. 1,257 dollars ha ha for that it better have the finger print scaner in the display and I want the whole phone redesigned. People want a fresh new phone every year. Look at the Note 7 and the Note 8 that's the kinda of change people want those 2 phone don't look alike
Not getting it. The fact that it is releasing with Android Oreo is a killer for me. I'm tired of being the last to receive updates. Essential already has a Pie firmware out for their device, many other manufacturers were part of the Pie beta using the GSIs and Samsung held back. Now this amazing phone with over the top specs and a price to match is releasing with a year old OS and their roadmap for their other phones is targeting 8.1. No thanks, Samsung is still living in the past.
Edit: also, I don't want a purple phone or a bright yellow s-pen. The color options available today are horrendous.

What is wrong with the fingerprint scanner that you're so upset about? You wanted an in-display reader? You have some awfully high expectations. It takes a very long time to design, prototype, test and create these devices. They've likely been working on creating the Note9 before the S9 was released. It's not just a one or two month process. Whatever it is you think that flopped the S9, they couldn't have known that would be an issue by the time they started designing the Note9. What exactly is the "same mistake" they made with the Note9 that they made with the S9 also, anyway?
Regarding your question: I'm not going to get the Note9, because I'm on a 2-year contract and I got the Note8 only about 4 months ago. I'm going to have to wait for the Note10.
Nope. For two reasons:
1. I see only the battery as noticeable change (Stylus also, but for now I don't think I will use the BT functionality);
2. I am not so rich to swap phones like this.

Samsung upgrades their android only once at beginning of the year.
For example The S10 Will come with Android P Then Note 9 will receive it. Expect it in May 2019
Yeah this is bad. The large issue with Note 9 that their is no UX Difference and selfie camera is the same, so yeah you get an extra shutter button on s pen and a 20%
battery increase for 1200$. At this point I would just pay 300$ to get a 512 gb sd on my 64 gb note 8 if I need that kind of storage.
Weren't we promised with crown ux or samsung ditched it for the s10?

Ive never found space to be an issue with 64gb so while nice, the added storage is not driving my
desire for a new phone. The battery increase is nice. I'm definitely looking for a phone with at minimum 4000mah. I use my s-pen for sketching wood shop projects, and the occasional note and that's really all. So the enhancements there are lost on me.
You're absolutely right about the upgrade schedule. It made sense before project treble when creating the new system images took way more effort. And this isn't just directed at Samsung. I am looking for an "upgrade" to my note 8. But I won't be buying any phone that doesn't come with Android P out of the box or available through GSI. I have no problem flashing a rom to get it. It's why I love the Android platform. And maybe just because my note 8 is such a fantastic phone already, now's the time to use another manufacturers device. I was particularly fond of the Razer phone I played with at the Microsoft store and if the ROG phone ever gets released maybe that will provide me the experience I want. I'm not getting rid of my note 8, and I think it's a great phone to fall back on, but I don't see the note 9 in my future.

And you'll buy it, put it side by side next to your Note 8 and wonder why on earth you bothered spending so much money when you got essentially, a slightly bigger battery and a marginally bigger phone......That's it.
The reason the Note 9 has a bigger battery is because it's constantly charging the cap in the BLE S-Pen, real world, it won't be any better than what you already have except for the BLE gimmicks you won't use.
Very poor value for money if you're coming from a Note 8 already.

I don't think it is poor value for money in my opinion. We all have reasons why we think we would get it or not. It may not be your impression but it feels to me as if saying Yes means you have made a wrong choice. Each to his own but for me, I will trade my note 8 for the note 9.
Storage, Battery size chiefly swayed me. Like many others, I am disappointed by Samsung for not doing more. But I think the Note 9 for me personally is worthy of the upgrade.
@Alex---1, Do you have any source that the battery is bigger because it is constantly charging the S-Pen? I don't the phone will be constantly changing the S-Pen but even if so, I really don't think the S-Pen would draw that much power. But of course, it is my humble opinion and would be happy to be corrected. You may be right but I think it is too early to draw that conclusion.
I really appreciate the comments I have read so far about the reasons why people will go for it or not. I can't wait to read that of others.

Each to their own on what they spend their money on but it really is quite the waste if you've got a Note 8.
I don't need a source for the S-Pen charging, I'm an electronics engineer, I design these things for a living. The S-Pen will not have a battery, it'll have a small super capacitor inside that'll get a burst of induction current from the phones battery, which will then gradually deplete over a few minutes till the phone has to give it another burst of current.
Depending on how often you use the BLE stuff throughout a day you'll likely see battery life no better than the Note 8. It's only another 700mA of juice. 5-6 gulps from the S-Pen throughout the day and you'll see very little to no difference between the 2 devices.
No, I will be sticking with my Note 8. I'm more than happy with the 8 and see no valid reason for spending another $1000.00 on a phone that I mainly use for reading and listening to audio. It really isn't worth the expense to "upgrade" from a perfectly good working phone that exceeds my needs. Besides that I'm still paying for mine and will be for the foreseeable future.

You are spot on with this.
700 Mah is 20% increase and your display have higher ppi [that you won't notice] will drain that mah any way.
I also want to warn exynos users the exynos processor in 2018 is terrible at battery life [see s9 for refrence]

Actually the Note 9 has a slightly lower PPI than the Note 8...larger screen, but same resolution. The very negligible difference in PPI won't really affect real-world battery life either way though.
Using the Note 8 with a locked bootloader next to the OnePlus 6.
Note 9 is just expensive. Locked bootloader in the U.S. and cannot afford the phone upfront so would have to go with a carrier. The promotion of the Samsung Gifts for pre-order is just plain bad. I remember I got a free Google Home with the Lg G6 that was only $700.
People need to stop fueling Samsung. I am feeling forced just to go trade-in my phone for an iPhone X which I would probably not enjoy just because I am mad at Samsung.
Only two colors available are purple and blue/yellow. Neither are for me.
