I don't understand this image. I thought Samsung were the only phone's with Edge. - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does the i6 have edges?! Like the S6 Edge? I don't understand this picture!

I honestly don't understand what I'm seeing. Anyone?

That image is a fake. iPhone has slightly rounded glass at the edge, but the screen does not extend to that part
http://store.apple.com/uk/buy-iphone/iphone6
Scroll down on that link and see

It's a photoshopped image; the iPhone doesn't have curved edges. If there was even a rumour of curved edges it would be all over the tech news sites.

thoughtful design...thanks LG

My phone was involved in an accident today...bummer, yes...but it came out with a ding instead of a cracked screen. The phone was resting on a the armrest of a sofa and it was knocked down HARD into the edge of a glass table. The border of the phone on the edge closest to the screen hit the edge of glass table. It could have easily shattered the corner of the screen, but if you look closely there is a thin layer of metal running on the interior edge of screen. That absorbed the impact. The metal ring got dented and the plastic on the side got chipped a bit, but the screen came out unharmed. Good enough for me.
A bit of testament to thoughtful design on LGs part
I never used a case on my nexus 4 and dropped it sooooo many times. On its face, sides whatever and other than some scratches nothing ever went wrong. I feel lime lg makes string screens with lime you say thoughtful designs
Good to know!
The metal ring around my Nexus 4 took some abuse as well but it always saved my screen from damage. I'm impress with LG's design lately and the G2 seems like it will hold up just as well.

That is great. Coming from a S4, that was a concern. If you looked at that screen cross eyed it would crack!

Yep, I remember when my Nexus 4 flew out of my lap when I was getting out of the car. I nearly had a heart attack thinking surely the front and rear glass were cracked from all the rolling and flipping it did on the street. Nope! Just a few dings in the metal. I don't see how people keep going back to Samsung. My S3 screen broke from less than a 6 inch fall. No joke.
Anecdotal evidence. My S3 has been dropped at least 30 or 40 times, different heights onto different surfaces, and it's never sustained any serious damage let alone a broken screen.

Case required?

I'm fortunate enough to own the Nexus 5, have the Z1 on delivery and have this evening ordered the Note 3, which I intend to use as my main phone. I'm not a fan of cases, I'll be honest. However, as I'm sure you are all aware (and your wallets feel lighter), the note 3 isn't cheap. What would be the best case in terms of being he thinnest? Also, is the bezel surrounded the phone prone to chips easily? I can't make out from photos if its Chrome or Metallic?

I prefer the phone naked. It's too big and gorgeous to bulk up with any case to hide the design. I always keep my front right pants pocket empty, dedicated for the phone. During the week I also just slip it into my suit jacket inside pocket. I have had it for 2 months and it's spotless.

Same here. I much prefer the phone as it arrived rather than dressing it up with cases. What do you think of the build quality? For the money I've spent I hope its good quality. Specifically the bezel around the edge? I only have concerns as I've had bezels scratch up easily even with careful use. Cough Blackberry Cough

I've had cell phones for the last 15 years and have NEVER physically damaged a single one. I've had my Note 3 for a month or two, and the screen cracked straight across - looks like a samurai sliced it in half.
I didn't drop the phone or anything. It slid gently off my lap and down between the couch cushions, and somehow it broke. Maybe it cracked from pressure through the pillows from people sitting on either side?
I'm thinking either there was a defect (stress point or something) in my phone, or it's just a REALLY fragile phone.
It's a beautiful phone, but I suggest getting a case. After I have the screen replaced, I might try one of those glass screen protectors just to give the phone's glass more pressure-damage resistance.
You should look into the bear motion bumper on amazon for the note 3. the bezel of the screen is really weak. like really really weak. (at least compared to the note 2)
Thank you both what do you mean by weak Pham? Its not something that bothers me too much, I just want a phone that will last a long time ha

If u want you phone looked thin and sexy.. try to use a tempered glass screen protector + bumper... the tempered glass will give u extra protection for ur note 3 screen and it is not easy to break... i just bought a tempered glass screen protector from spigen and its look fantastic.. u can see the video on you tube.. then the bumper will make ur note 3 seen sleek and not bulk.. u can choose either plastic, rubber, or aluminum bumper depends on ur interest... adios..

Spigen Curved Crystal screen protector?

Hey guys,
I've tried two different glass protectors and theyve both been too narrow for the screen leaving like 1mm of unprotected screen on both sides of the phone.
Just came across this youtube video showing the Spigen Curved Crystal. I cant post links yet so just YouTube search "Spigen Galaxy S7 Crystal Curve Screen Protector Review"
The Amazon listing has alot of positive reviews but theyre mostly biased according to FakeSpot. The weird part is that the youtube review itself shows a pretty good looking screen protector that fills both sides.
Another weird thing is that on Spigen's site it costs 25$ and on Amazon its only 9$ even though its the official Spigen Amazon page.
Anyone tried it or has any info?
I desperately need screen protection thats not completely horrible.
Edit: Sorry, wrong thread.
Screen protectors are collected here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...arching-screen-coverage-glass-screen-t3328181
That thread's for people who reviewed previous glasses, and since it hasnt been reported on yet, I dont think the post belongs there.
This screen protector is awesome, but not glass

I just installed mine on Monday after I was dissatisfied with the Zagg HD Dry.
The Zagg had a rubbery feel and showed little gouges/divots that supposedly would self-heal but I just didn't like it. My case is a Spigen Neo Hybrid and I was getting some bubbling near the edges.
So far, I'm liking the Curved Crystal. No issues at all with lift near the case and a nice smooth feel.
There's a very slight green tint that I notice at certain angles. My phone is black which makes it stand out more. I also installed it on my coworkers silver S7 Edge and the green tint isn't as noticeable.
It was a bit tricky to install compared to other protectors I've used since it doesn't go all the way to the top and bottom edge and has the curve on the sides. They recommend using their stickers to hold it in place on the home button while installing. If I would do it again, I'd use two stickers on either side of the home button instead.
Also, they give you two in a package which is nice.
I bought mine through Amazon.
+1 for Spigen curved crystal from Amazon.
Was totally dissatisfied with all the 2.5d glass screen protectors I tried.
While this isn't 100% coverage it offers protection from the scratches that were starting to develop from being in my back pocket (never carried with anything else. Lint/pocket debris will scratch an unprotected s7 screen).
Spigen Curved Crystal HD is the best so far. It is a film and not glass. But it covers the full screen area just not the full front of the phone. The corners, above the top sensors, and below the home button are uncovered. It does adhere to the curved edge nicely and works with my Tech 21 case fine. Glad you get two, as I did get a few fine scratches on it when putting it on (my stupidity).
i have try some ,but they are either creat narrow , or just narrower size
I also ha e installed a spigen curved crystal HD. Nice to the touch but not as nice as glass. I wasn't a fan of the top and bottom cutouts so I cut the protector so it just covers the screen portion of the phone, looks really good besides the one piece of dust and a piece of hair that got trapped under while installing. I used the wet install method, seems to be alot easier than dry install. Other than that I'm liking it so far.

Here's pics of the cut crystal HD I modified to cover just the screen portion of the phone. If I would have made the cuts a little smother it would look even better.

just got this, and it's a really nice protector. i'm just dumb and suck at putting them on lately, so of course i got some dust under it, and after like my 5th time of peeling up a corner to remove dust, one portion towards the middle of the phone won't stick to the phone anymore, so i must have slightly bent the protector or something, bc it's a small line that just looks like a bubble, as it won't go flat. but other than that, this protector is great. fits the curved edges, no bubbling around the edges like every other one, and it seems really thin. works with my tscase leather case, but i wanna try it with my spigen neo hybrid to make sure it doesn't lift up the edges. if it does with their own brand case, then thats BS lol

Works perfect with the Neo Hybrid. No lifting or creasing. Just be careful if you gear vr if you put it into fast it can push the protector. I use that and the spigen plastic case case.
Sent from my SM-G930T using XDA-Developers mobile app
I haven't tried vr yet but I tried it in the hybrid.. it works but if you like slightly squeeze the side of the case, you can see some bubbling occur, so even their own cases will slightly lift it.

Cheers for these how you finding it?
Nowhere in the UK currently has this in stock! I'll have to keep my eyes open for stock, tempted to make the switch

ZAGG Glass Curved now available but........

Called Zagg yesterday to ask about the curved tempered glass for the S7 & S7 Edge and the girl said it's been shipping for the past week. You have to call and order as it's still not available on their website. Now here's the kicker, It has a black painted border around the edges. :silly:
I asked if it sticks to the actual display area and she said yes, but did not sound too sure. It was $44.99 but she said she would give me 10% off and another $10.00 off discount. After hearing about the black "Painted Border" I did not order and will wait to see what others find out.
If anyone has ordered and received one please post some pictures and a review. Thank You.

Users are reporting that it is a dot matrix style. Frustrating, I know. I have my doubts as to whether we will ever see a good full coverage glass screen protector.

This sucks. Have to stick with the crappy film protectors for now.
The 2015 Moto X, Galaxy S6 from last year still don't have proper fitting edge to edge screen protectors. It will be a miracle if there is one made for this phone.

OK, Just installed the Zagg Curve and I'm pretty impressed with it. Went on perfect, lined up perfect, very smooth and overall one of the nicest protectors I've seen in a while. You would not even notice it's on the phone if you weren't looking for it.
The black on the protector is not the same pearly black like the phone but none the less looks pretty good.
I did manage to get a tiny piece of hair or something under the display but that's my own fault. :crying: Not going to take it off as I think it's a one stick deal and that's it.
The home button is noticeably lower but seems to work just fine. The capacitive buttons don't seem as bright with the protector on. The dot matrix is there but very hard to notice during normal use. Fingerprints hardly show up and the oleophobic coating is super smooth.
This opinion is based on about 1 hour with the protector on the phone . I'm going to let it sit a while before trying on some cases.
That piece of crap I got under the glass is going to drive me crazy. :silly: Here are a couple of pictures. The last picture you can see the dot matrix and piece of crap I got under the glass.
Another picture from a different angle.
Works great in the Otterbox Defender with the factory plastic protector removed.
I like my thin cases though.

LG V30 curve screen or flat screen?

Hi
Just curious to see if the V30 will have those annoying curved edge screens like most of the other new phones, or if it keeps the normal flat screen as older generation phones.
Personally I prefer full flat, as it works better with screen protectors.
The curved screens from never phones are a pain in the rear to find a compatible screen protector.

I just ordered 2 off again I'll let you know how well they work with case. I know most cases lift the edges sadly. I'll keep you updated...well try to anyhow. But I love it truly great screen. The gs8 has worse curves and they make glass for them of decent quality.
