Indeed. Actually rooting is usually not a problem for official update, but manually modifying system file is. You have to go back to a frash install of B12 I guess (with a whole save of your personnal stuff before)

PLK-UL00 EMUI 3.1 B180 or EMUI 4.0?

So I've got a PLK-UL00 (The indian version) and am currently on the build number "PLK-UL00C17B188".
Now, I downloaded the update package (UPDATE.APP) for what seems to be EMUI 4.0 (PLK-UL00C675B330).
When I try to install it though, I run into an error in the recovery.
Another thing to mention is, that it states I need B170 or B180 to install EMUI 4.0 - But I run B188.
So is there any way to downgrade to B180 OR upgrade to B330 / EMUI 4.0?

If you want to downgrade your phone you'll have to root your phone first and flash your desired Firmware via CWM.
That's the only method I can think of right now.
Maybe it is even possible to use the "force upgrade"-method with an Firmware older than your current one, but I'm not sure about that one

Ota update to marashmellow

I am on rooted Android 5.1.1 Sony xperia z2 d6503, now I got ota marashmellow 6.0 update file of 974mb,.if I update it, can my root exit on marashmellow or not. If not then how can I root 6.0.
You will loose root and there is no way to root it on 6.0 (unless you unlock bootloader)... So best way is flash pre-rooted version from your existing 5.1.1...
You can't update while you have root and/or recovery, however you can download the update but once it's done the update will fail because you have modified system.
You can flash a pre-rooted firmware via recovery to get the latest software update and maintain root access and recovery.
Until now there is no expoilt to root directly.
I got the same thing just this morning.
I was wondering about the same issue.
This ota is not the beta version released earlier i presume?
And is there a prerooted rom of this exact ota from Sony?.
I have seen a lot of good works on MM for Z2 but for sm reason i opted to wait fo the official sony version.

Actually there is.
Before the the update roll over OTA it's released via Xperifirm one week before.
By the way, you can even make your own pre-rooted firmware by yourself via PRFcreator!

Android 7 OTA after recovery flash

Hello,
I have the following phone:
Moto Z
XT1650-03
RETEU
Android 6.0.1 MPL24.246-45
When I got the phone I only unlocked the bootloader en flashed TWRP recovery.
Now the Android 7 OTA update is released. I got the popup for de OTA update but it wasn't able to install the update because of TWRP Recovery.
After that I flashed the recovery with a stock recovery from the stock Android 6.0.1 MPL24.246-17 ROM, found in a Moto Z official/stock ROM forum here on XDA. After that I downloaded the OTA update again on my Moto Z, it starts with installing the update, then it restarts in recovery, it seems work fine when I see the stock recovery screen with installing the update, but after a few minutes I get an "Error!" with the "Android man with open belly" symbol. Luckily the phone stil boots and is working fine.
What's going wrong with the OTA update? Mismatch between the rom (MPL24.246-45) and recovery (MPL24.246-17) version?
My goal is to get stock Android 7 on my Moto Z. Who can tell me what's the best step for me to achieve this? Should I try another recovery to get the OTA update working?
Thank you!
Same happened to me when i tried updating the new 540mb update over Nougat. I think it happened because of the kernel (disabling force encryption), not sure :/

Ok, thank you for your answer. But I did not do anything with encryption... And how did you solve this, are you able to install that update now?
I gave my phone to the service center today and told them that it happened after the OTA update. I have my fingers crossed that they don't find out about the unlocked bootloader before fixing it.

Possible. Flash stock recovery from Rogers firmware which is a -45 subrelease.
Anyway I wouldn't upgrade by OTA...

Ok, I already flashed de stock .45 Recovery from Rogers.
My plan is the following:
- Reset device to factory defaults
- Download the OTA update to the device, just how it's meant to be
- See if it wil update successfully now
Or what can you recommend me to get to fully stock Nougat? This one:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z/development/android-nougat-moto-z-versions-t3506342
Or wait and stay on Android 6.0.1 till there is more information/ROM's/updates about this device? I know something about flashing/ROM's (before I had a OnePlus One with Cyanogen) but not as much as you guys do and I don't want to brick my device

New update for Global Stable Rom(v8.2.5.0.MCFMIDL)

Hey everyone, tomorrow I got notification to install a new update for Global Stable Rom (v8.2.5.0.MCFMIDL). The update is rather small (21M) and with on descriptive change log(only says 'Fixed Bugs') . Is it safe to install MIUI updates on top of my rooted phone with TWRP and exposed installed. I installed all previous updates via fastboot method, but I really don't wanna go through all the trouble for such small incremental update.
If someone has tried it please do share your experience.
Regards.
Has anyone installed this update?
Yeah I did, and you can't install an Ota on a rooted phone,

Yeah but I'd have to re-setup the phone after flashing it via fastboot. Maybe I'll just pass on this one.

Download link pls.
I can't find download link for it on any miui page. Looks like its only available via OTA, as of now.

It's a Beta Stable version for random users.
Bad choice by Xiaomi to propose to upgrade to guinea pig users in the stable branch.

Question Downgrade fw

Hi everyone.
My euro gdpr gt2 pro OTA updated to version .21 the other day but I'm now having connection issues. They all started after that update. Is there anyway to downgrade to .19?
You can use the A.14 package to downgrade, and then install the A.19 OTA:
[Global/EU] Collection of firmware files
Since a lot of people is asking for firmware files, OTAs, boot.img, I decided to collect all the resources here, so that it would be easier to get what you need. First of all, you have to identify your ROM version. It is not the scope of this...

I am on A.21 and the WiFi keeps disconnecting randomly, it all started with the A.20 firmware for the MEA Region.

Worked a treat thank you... Phone is now working again. But wouldn't let me update manually update to 19 as it had found OTA .21 on its own.

Yes, you have to disable the Internet connection and clear data for the Software Update app to manually install an OTA file, otherwise it will find the latest version online.
Hi all,
I have updated to Android 13 (RMX3301_11.C.11_1110_202212121459)
Can I still use:

to downgrade to Android 12?
