[ROOT]use playmemories mobile on a Japanese z3c with d58xx rom and blocked nfc - Xperia Z3 Compact Android Development

note:thie method also works on japanese z3, and ultra stamina mode also works after apply this method. thanks @Advali for the information
playmemoris mobile is sony's camera app which transfer photos to phone from sony camera.
as we know, japanese z3c(so-02g) has different nfc chips.
if a japanese z3c(so-02g) flashes a d58xx rom, nfc will not work.
also:
if you flashed a 4.4.4 d58xx rom,nfc will drain battery, you have to pm block com.android.nfc to fix this,but play memories mobile will not launch;
if you flashed a 5.0.2 d58xx rom,nfc will not drain battery,playmemories mobile can lauch,but after launching, it will try to enable nfc, and battery will drain again;
now we have a solution(REQUIRES ROOT AND SYSTEM R/W):
first step: pm block com.android.nfc (for 4.4.4) or pm hide com.android.nfc (for 5.0.2).
this will stop battery drain.
second step:use root explorer, go to /system/etc/permissions, search "nfc", and delete all four xml files whose name contains nfc.(do this after backup)
this step will make your phone think it has no nfc function at all.
then reboot your phone, everything will be ok!

Will ultra stamina mode also work using this method? Thanks!

i can't try ultra stamina atm, because my z3c's touch screen cracked yesterday and i've sent it to repair...
i will try ultra stamina mode as soon as i get my phone again
but if you flash lollipop rom, with nothing modified(neither pm hide nor deleted xml files), ultra stamina will work and if you don't touch nfc settings by yourself or apps like playmemories mobile, battery life will be normal.

Excuse me for a stupid question, should it possible to use the NFC SERVICE files in the japanese firmware to make NFC works normal ?
sorry for my bad english

Already tested it bro. Ultra stamina works with this method. By the way I'm using a SOL26 variant Z3 with a .726 US firmware.
Before I had problems til I read this thread.

no. the difference is on drivers/kernel level, not that simple with a replacement of apk file.
since there's no lollipop rom of so-02g yet, i don't think we can port old drivers from kitkat roms to lollipop roms.
also, if we get a lollipop rom of so-02g, there's no reason to use a d58xx rom any more.
总之就是因为没有日版的5.0系统,所以nfc肯定用不了,有了也就不需要用这些非日版的rom了,在日版基础上改就行了。。

[Q] No multiple user account management in lte version

There seems to be no multiple user account management in the lte version, are there anyways to enable it?
Have been unsuccessfully searching for it myself. The tab has SMS and phone features, but no user account management. I think Sony has confused it with a telephone...
I really wasn't aware of this, I totally wouldn't have got the lte version had I known. I hope someone is able to mod this soon.
I read somewhere Nokia has a patent regarding sim enabled tablets with multiple users... Grrr.
Hi all, there is no fix for this?
Could please a LTE model owner who is rooted try this Xposed module:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=droidmate.multiuser.xposed
and report whether it works or not?
Says it works only on phones and only on AOSP ROMs, but since the Sony ROM is pretty AOSP-like, it's worth the try...
(Don't forget to have Xposed Disabler zip file on SD card )

ah, so there is as of today, I should have looked... I'll root mine and try this out and let you know!
Sony now offically stated that the LTE variant is based on the Phone Software (Z2) and thus does not get Multiuser capabilities.
The design of SGP521 is based on phone software. Therefore there is no user account functionality available in SGP521, like in SGP512 and SGP511.

As you can not remember, I'd only tell you from experiences from Sony .
Usually Sony updates have bugs, they do not iron it out completely and thus I have a bad experience with stock roms.
However the problem subsides if you use custom roms.
Do you want to go back to previous android build? I can write you instructions if you want to check that. However backup your data as it would wipe all data.

To update your firmware, you will need Sony PC companion to do it officially or you can use Flashtool.
Sony PC companion is the simplest method, however, if you need to know how to use flashtool.
Leave a reply and I will answer your query.
I do not own an Xperia Z2 . I look into forums and answer questions which have not been answered and ignored.
Good luck !
You are using a magnetic charging line, aren't you? If so this is not a bug. Sony intentionally makes auto rotate screen turn on when you use the magnetic charging port to charge your phone, because the port is designed for its magnetic charging dock.

I use the term ROM for a modified Android system; like a pre-rooted ROM because has root and a recovery. A stock firmware is the one you install with Flashtool as Sony intended: No root, no recovery; just plain old Android without any mods.
Root is access to the system, so it is a very different concept. CyanogenMod is a custom ROM; you must unlock the bootloader to install the custom kernel that must be used with Cyanogen

I'm currently using it as a daily driver for a few days right now. Just my two words:
- everything works (calls, sms, mms, 2g, 3g, lte, wifi, bluetooth),
- video recording works fine but you need to use Footej Camera (like on all other ports). The only difference is that here it's much faster,
- can't find options for fingerprint, so....
- I had to flash SuperSu. Enabling root in development settings gives nothing.

And superSU was reported to be causing numerous issues. Anyway, two more mentions of this, and I'll change the OP.

[F3212/F3216][KERNEL][STOCK] Stock kernels built from sources

Hi,
I will release here my updated "boot.img" files for the Xperia XA Ultra Dual Sim.
You must have an unlocked bootloader to flash with Fastboot.
You don't need to be on the same firmware as the boot image that you want to flash.
You have to flash SuperSu again from TWRP just after flashed new boot to avoid bootloop.
All boot images have "ro.secure=0" and "ro.debuggable=1" in default.prop file
and "forcencrypt" of internal memory switched to "encryptable" in fstab.mt6755 file.
The Fastboot command is:
fastboot flash boot NAMEOFIMAGE.img

Hi, it's not a Rom just a boot.img for unlocked bootloaders with stock kernel built from Sony open source archive.
36.2.B.2.109 boot should fix the front camera not focusing after root.
After testing I found out that the boot does have problems
Which are:
1-Screen doesn't turn off completely, it stays at a very dark state which can be noticed in extreme low light conditions and if u turn the screen back on u will notice a a static on the screen and then it functions normally.
2-system brightness level meter doesn't work but third party apps can be used to change that.
Hope that helps and u come with even better boot in the future and thank u in advance.

Hi, thank you for the feedback. I don't have any unlocked Ultra (only have a unlocked XA F3112) so I can't test new releases or try to debug anything. I don't make any changes to the kernel source code, only build the kernel and repack it in a stock ramdisk with very small changes for root, nothing more. I hope that an user will be able to fix bugs.

For those who are struggling with the front facing camera, I finally solved it without installing any kernel or modify anything from the system. Downgrade to 36.0.A.1.111 (should be the one one with service unit exchange or smth like that). Had installed gapps stock (but I suggest u don't delete the Sony camera app - Instagram and Snapchat work perfectly fine) + xposed + adoptable storage.
As a final mention my devie is F3211

Here's step by step what I did, I hope it will work for your device too:
1. Go to xperifirm and download the 36.0.A.1.111 firmware (service unit exchange)
2. Create a bundle on the flashtool within the firmware folder
3. Flash it
4. Happy rooting!
There is however something I have to mention about this fw: you'll probably not receive any system updates
IF U ARE A SNAPCHAT USER install Snapchat before messing the system up with xposed

Since you've mentioned snapchat allow me to ask. I'm on stock and I've just received the 36.0.B.2.109 update (hings are kinda slow in Egypt).
But no matter how many updates I get, snapchat quality is terrible on the front facing shooter. It's only good when it's really sunny. Other than that it's extremely dark to the point that sometimes you can't even recognize faces ! Have you ever run into that ? If yes or no what do you recommend ?

I had one bug with snapchat on the same firmware you are using but it was more app related rather than a camera quality issue. every time I opened sc the image would tend to get darker (not to mention the app itself was kinda slow) and the only fix I could find is moving the app back to internal storage (but again, this was an app bug). the only thing i can tell you is experimenting with other fws until you find one that could fix your issue, otherwise sorry but i have no idea.

I've had this issue on all firmwares up until the one i mentioned. And yeah i didn't even use my external usage yet, so it seems that im having a different issues although we both got dark images. I would try different firmwares but I dont know what sony did to make the battery much better on the recent firmware. I'll try messing around till I find the culprit.

By deleting root, I assume you tried to delete the root app not root access itself.
You have to go back to stock rom, install snapchat, log in, root your phone and never log out.
