[Q] Snapchat issues - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone having issues while viewing stories? It's like it's doing a phantom double tap occasionally and skipping through long stories. I hope I don't have a defective digitizer.

Galaxy S3 i9300- "Can't Connect To The Camera" Error CM 12.1

I have flashed the following ROM on my Galaxy S3 i9300 :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-archidroid-v2-4-6-power-hands-t2354859
The "Can't connect to the camera" error of cyanogenmod persists.
Earlier I was using Cyanogenmod 11 and faced the same issue but there was a quick fix available - Restart_camera.apk
That ofcourse was meant for KitKat and doesn't work for 5.1.1.
I have to reboot my device several times to use the camera.
Is there any fix for this?
Thanks and Regards

Hi, I had the same problem with my i9300
- in my case Snapchat created the problem
- everytime it crashed I got the "Can't connect to camera" notification and had to reboot my phone (that was a problem I also solved with the Restart_camera.apk under CM 11)
(I'm currently running crDroid http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-crdroid-lollipop-t2994209/page46 but I think it might be the same cause)
Solution: (took me a few weeks to find it )
- found out that it messed up a Linux process in the background (it was the "mediaserver" - process)
- created a new Task with Tasker > 'Run Shell' > Command: "pkill -9 /system/bin/mediaserver" > checked 'use root' > finish
- everytime you run the Task the "mediaserver" process gets killed and is restarted by the system
- Camera is released and working fine again without a reboot
Another way if you want to try my Solution without buying Tasker:
- Download OS Monitor (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eolwral.osmonitor&hl=de)
- wait until your Camera crashes next time
Open OS Monitor:
- Settings > check Root > check Expert-Mode
- Back to the Process-List > (all processes - also native Linux processes should be displayed now) > long click on "/system/bin/mediaserver" > "Kill/Reset Process"
Open the Camera:
- it should work now
Hope I could help you!
Best Regards
Find "Mediaserverkill app" on the play store. It's free. Set it to kill Mediaserver on screen unlock, you'll never fave the 'Can;t connect to camera' problem again, thanks.
Hit Thanks if I helped.

Yes, it was the mediaserver. Resetting the process works great. Thanks a ton. :good:
FIX
Ok, here is the fix.
When you're flashing your custom rom, and then flashing Gapps, just download aroma Gapps for any android version you're using and select to flash Google Camera. Then reboot and stock Cyanogenmod camera will be replaced with the Google Camera.
PS: BE SURE YOU ARE DOWNLOADING GAPPS FROM OFFICIAL WEBSITE

Hello,
This will not get you an account but if the app doesn't let you in, this is a workaround to use it without logging in:
Go into the settings > Lock screen > Lock Screen Mods > 'the little setting icon next to the Static wallpaper'
and you should be in the themes app now.

Here is an easy step by step tutorial:
1. Download this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sika524.android.quickshortcut
2. Open it, you should be in the activities tab (if not navigate to it)
3. In the text field "Input keyword to filter" type "Theme Chooser"
4. Expand the hopefully one search result and click on the first one
5. Check if it works by clicking on try then click create to add it to your homescreen
I also included a screenshot in my post.
Hope it helps.
P. S. : This is a forum specifically for the Wileyfox Swift 2 Plus.
