Ethernet to Micro-USB 2.0 ... any suggestions - Shield Tablet Accessories

I have faced a big problem with WiFi signal last time when I used Shield in internet coffee, I thought this is a problem with coffee shop not my tablet , but ilwhen I went back home I have faced same issue with my router even I can browse the internet in my laptop but I cannot do anything with my tablet, so I am planning to use Ethernet to Micro-USB 2.0 adaptor so I can connect my tablet to the router via wire.
I looked on Amazon, but I don't know what product I have to go with ...
Any suggestions guys ...??

I use this adapter personally:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RM3KXAU
Worked right out of the box with the Shield Tablet and I haven't had any issues with it. Also fits securely into the Micro USB port, which is always a plus.

Do yourself a favour and use a USB OTG Y cable, then you can use USB stuff and charge your Tablet at the same time.
Something like: http://www.amazon.com/Micro-Cable-Player-Samsung-Galaxy/dp/B00CXAC1ZW
Then just get your preferred USB - Ethernet adapter.

Thanks 4 the info dude. Just what i needed.

[Q] Dual micro USB?

Hi together,
ive asked me if it is possible to use an adapter for 1x micro usb (plug) -> 2x micro usb (jack).
Could the phone handle 2 USB devices at the same time?
Maybe then it is possible to use the HDMI output and the USB host parallel?
For example to use an TV as screen and an HDD as the source for a movie.
This would be nice.
Thanks in advance.
macc
When the connector is used for HDMI I doubt it can be used as USB at the same time, I'n sorry.
Maybe in a few months cyanogenmod provides a hack, if there will be an dual adapter soon.
We will see. Thank you.
macc
The hardware needs to allow this if it'd become possible. You need a really smart USB dongle that knows how to split the HDMI output from the USB output.
Sounds a little too difficult to ever happen.
Hmm thats right. I think i still dream xD
But thank you.

it is not possible. because as stated on this forum many times before, the type of usb connection is determined by the resistor between pin 4 and 5 of the micro usb connector. the strength can tell the phone, that there is either a charger, a pc connection, car kit, jig, usb otg or mhl connection present.
and i believe, this is an important thing to keep in mind for so many things:
for instance, why the original car kit triggers car mode and generic car charging cables don't or why not just any micro usb male to usb a female will work as a otg cable or why flashing should be done with the original usb cable...
so if you were to buy or build a micro usb hub, since it has no resistor in the very plug that connects to the phone, it cannot be used for anything but charging and quite frankly, i wouldn't connect more than one charger to the phone.
however, if you want to use your phone for presentations or watching movies and still be able to use it, get a bluetooth keyboard and mouse or a bluetooth presenter or do it the other way around and use a usb input device and transfer your media using allshare. everything else is physically impossible, so neither CM nor XDA can do anything about it. the only device that can do what you want is the new motorola. it has a separate micro usb and micro hdmi port and a docking station, so you can use it as a full notebook.
Thats obvious. Thank you.

Can Android phone become Wireless Ethernet AP?

Hi,
I have a TV Box that requires ethernet connection, located where there's no ethernet socket around.
Initially, I thought of buying a wireless ethernet dongle (such as this www. amazon. com/dp/B005OIB714/ref=asc_df_B005OIB7142059191?smid=A3U3JJYGD7YYL1&tag=nextagusmp0359831-20&linkCode=asn&creative=395105&creativeASIN=B005OIB714 ) which connects to the internet via wifi, and provides an ethernet male cable to stick into the TV box.
But here's a thought - would it be possible to use my SGS2 instead? Can it be used as a Wifi client, and is there a micro B to ethernet-male adapter or cable?
Tried googling for a while but got flooded with too much confusing data.
Thanks!
Your phone can be a wireless hotspot, if that what you want.

I don't think that's what he's asking. Sounds like he wants to connect the phone to wifi, then use some kind of adapter to piggyback the network connection out to an RJ45 wired port to the other device.

Dude, that thing is only $25. Just get it. I don't think what you are attempting will work, and even if it would, it would (theoretically) require an additional adapter for micro usb to rj 45 anyways, which would cost some amount of money, thus defeating what appears to be your purpose of saving money.
THANKS!
Yep -what I wanted was to use the SGS2 instead of a WiFi2Ethernet dongle.
I sometimes enjoy extending the use of the phone (such as using the SGS2 while on vacation in Ireland, to transfer files from my camcorder to an HDD via an OTG cable and a powered USB hub). However - in this case all I wanted was to save buying the dongle as I will rarely use it.
Too expensive, too complicated - Got it! thanks! Will buy a dongle.
If you really like recycling devices and have an old router lying around, you could try setting up a wireless bridge rather than getting a dongle.

Micro-USB plug hub with Ethernet

Does a micro-USB hub with ethernet that has at least 3 USB ports exist? I despise chaining a bunch of dongles, so I'd like to see if an all-in-one solution exists:
- micro-USB cable attached to the dongle so it can plug straight into the GNP
- Ethernet port (my experience is that wifi sucks on the GNP)
- 3 USB plugs for flash drive, keyboard/touchpad combo, Flirc.
The closest I found is this Samsung dongle (the price used to be $25 but it went up, can still be found around $17 on ebay shipped from China though), but it only has 2 USB ports and I'm not sure that it would actually work with the GNP:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Original-Adapter-ET-UP900-Galaxy/dp/B00J2N0GB4
(may be an excellent solution for someone looking just for 1-2 USB ports)

It would be great if it had a micro-USB connector rather than a standard one, to avoid yet another adapter cable.
I dont think that will work. My friend got one and I plugged it into my tablet that has a standard USB slot and ethernet didn't work. I bought a USB (standardsize) to ethernet adapter works fine on my tablet. Now I need a standard to micro adapter

Ethernet adapter

Hello guys, our tablets support connection to Internet with an ethernet cable. So I bought an (rj45) ethernet adapter(micro usb>ethernet) from eBay to have access to the 100mbps Internet connection of my university's library. Them problem is that when I try to connect it to the Internet at home, my tablet (pro 8.4) says "the usb adapter has connected" (the same with the usb otg adapter), the led of the adapter lights up, BUT it doesn't connect to the Internet. Do I have to buy the official Samsung adapter?
You shouldn't need to buy the official one.
I bought this one http://www.amazon.com/Plugable-Ethernet-Network-Chromebook-Specific/dp/B00484IEJS/ and it works when I use the stock ROM.
I connect it and the greyed out text from your screen shot, turns black.
Just a guess. You might be have MAC filtering enabled at home and could be blocking access.

I bought this one from eBay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/231258541541?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
When I connect my laptop with the ethernet cable it works but when I connect my tablet nothing happens...I'll check MAC filtering but I think that the problem is that my tablet doesn't support the chipset of the adapter I have bought.

I'm 99.9% sure the problem is the Ethernet adaptor. But, I'm not sure why yours would work in one location and not another.
I bought a cheap one myself, maybe something like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ethernet-RJ45-Network-Adaptor-Converter/dp/B003Q85EEA and it didn't work at all, when testiung it at home.
I'd recommend spending more money on an adaptor, ideally from a retailer that excepts returns easily, i.e. Amazon. Should you need to return it.
I'd recommend the "Plugable" adaptor.
Good luck

I will buy a new one and I hope it works. Thanks for answering my questions.
My pleasure
I use one of these:

USB C to A OTG causing a weird bug on my Tab S6

I'm trying to connect my Tab S6 (SM-T867V) to my Logitech mouse, but as soon as I connect the OTG cable to the Tab, even before the mouse controller is insterted, I get a notification that says USB connector connected and then it switches to USB connector disconected and just keeps flipping between the two notifications every few seconds seemingly endlessly. I tried the otg cable with my Note 9 (SM-N960U) and it works perfectly fine with my mouse. The Tab and Note prompt me with charging/file transfer when the otg cable is hooked into the Note and connected to the Tab via a usb c cable so that seemed to work fine. The tab also works normally when charging and using a usb c to hdmi adapter, so I don't think it's a port issue. Both devices are on One UI 2.1 and both have USB 3.1 type C 1.0 reversible connectors, so I'm really confused as to why I'm getting this bug. If anyone has a solution, I would greatly appreciate it!

I didn't think about PD making a difference, but maybe you're right. My usb c to hdmi does support PD, but the power wasn't plugged in when I tried it and it still worked tho ?
But either way, I ended up purchasing a bluetooth mouse instead just because it's more useful to have one for my tablet rather than unplugging my laptop's every time I take the tab somewhere. I will keep this in mind for if I need to add more accessories later, so thanks for the info.
