OTA Update..failed?? - AT&T HTC One (M8)

Hi,
I tried to update my m8 to 5.0 from kk, and I think the installation process was interrupted. My phone now boots to this screen only. My phone is not rooted and has a locked boot loader. Purchased in March. Any tips?
Thanks,
Matt.

When at that screen press volume up and power. Your suppose to see that screen on a stock restore screen. When I seen that I freaked to lol.

OK I will try that, should it boot automatically?

This did not work..

try updating via htc ruu: http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_...40.45.C33065.00_F_release_426617_signed_2.exe

Make sure you hold vol up, then just tap and release the power button. Lots of folks mistakenly think you are supposed to press both at the same time, like this guy: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/how-to-enter-stock-recovery-htc-one-m8-t3085254

Ok, I just got home from work and this entered recovery. Will factory reset fix?

Random boot loop...won't turn on now.

Hello all...So yesterday, my Aria all of a sudden shut off and then restarted...I thought that was strange but thought nothing of it other than a glitch, however a few minutes later, it shut off again and now it won't get past the HTC screen and continues to boot loop at that screen. Running CM7
Anyone know anything I can do? Am I screwed? Has my Aria bit the dust? I was hoping that it would hold out until the One XL came out or the SIII
thanks,
Mike

I can get into the bootloader, however when I select recovery, the white HTC screen shows (as it always did before I got into recovery) that is the "boot screen" that I can't get past...not the cyanogen boot screen

Same issue, can't get past HTC screen
Hi, I know this is an old thread but I have the same problem and I'm wondering how you even got into the bootloader; I can't get past the HTC screen; it's looping; does a little vibrate, blanks for a second, then back to HTC (I flashed a bad gapps). Anyway holding down buttons isn't getting me anywhere and I don't have a computer I can plug it into. Any ideas?

Turn phone completely off. If you can't do that, remove the battery so it turns completely off, then put it back in.
Press and hold the volume down button. Press the power button. Continue to hold the volume down button until the HBOOT screen appears, then you can release.
If you continue to have problems, try doing the same process but hold the trackball button instead of the volume down button. This should take you to the FASTBOOT screen, but from there you can select "Bootloader" from the list of choices to go into HBOOT.
Make sure the USB cable is not connected while you're doing this.

[Q] Help please. Phone stuck in bootloop can't get into recovery

So here's the gist of it all...
I have an HTC Evo 4G LTE (which is why I'm in this forum) that has been unlocked and rooted using the HTC-Method and is still S-ON. I am using TWRP and my rom is the MeanRom ICS version 4.9. I didn't change any of the settings (i.e. I didn't change any of the values that would affect performance). My phone has been working fine up until this point which is why I am currently asking you all for your help. Last I checked everything was working fine until my phone tried to connect to multiple WiFi access points at the same time and the system crashed I'm guessing and is currently looping.
I have tried a hard reset by holding down the power button til the soft keys blinked and the phone turned off, but it boots itself back up and goes into a loop again. It won't stay turned off and won't completely turn off. I have tried holding the power and up button to get into recovery and it doesn't do anything. I've tried holding the up button as it goes into the next loop to no avail.
For those familiar with MeanRom, it goes past the HTC screen that says this rom is for development purposes etc...then shows the little blue, roaring android, and finally gets the the MeanRom ICS boot logo. At start up there is a buzz like a text message comes in and right before the phone fully boots there is a smaller, softer vibration. My phone gets to this point and then freezes and reboots.
Sorry for the long post, but I figured the more information I give, the better my chances of getting some help. The battery was at about 85% when it went into this bootloop so I'm going to try and just have it discharge itself and charge it up and see what happens. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I can't get to recovery, bootloader...nothing. I can't do anything, it just keeps looping. I can't even turn it off.
Hold power until it turns off and then hold power and volume down, it should boot to bootloader and then you can select recovery. Have you tried to boot in safe mode

What about safe mode? Hold volume down when you get to the splash, it will hang a bit and vibrate then you let go and it will force safe mode

It vibrates, hangs, then reboots again.
When you try to get into the bootloader are you sure you're letting go? Once the phone turns off you need to let go of power and then hold power and volume down. Some people seem to think you hold power and volume down till the phone restarts and keep holding it, I don't know how people came to that conclusion.

Complete noob here, sorry if this is a repost
I haven't been able to find a situation exactly like mine. If there is, I apologize in advance for this being a repost. Yes, I am a stupid noob. I had my EVO 4G LTE on HBOOT 1.19 and I unlocked the bootloader, flashed recovery and did all the necessary steps (including kernel adaptations) to flash CM10. Upon doing this I also got stuck in the bootloop and couldn't access recovery. I took it to a Sprint store and they somehow got it back to TWRP recovery and it's currently at the TWRP menu. Here's the problem: I didn't do a backup before doing any of this and I don't have anything to backup to (shoot me). I'm afraid that if i try to get back to the bootloader menu that I will screw it up even more. What do I do/download to get it back to stock? Any help toward this desperate noob would be extremely appreciated

load into fastboot and try to flash a boot.img and the stock rom (there a multiple threads/guides on how to do this) this guide is for the one x but it is the same for evo lte http://onexroot.com/one-x-roms/how-to-install-rom-and-boot-image-on-htc-one-x/

[Q] my screen is black, no access to bootloader ,adb/fastboot doesnt recognize phone

sprint htc evo 4g lte, rooted s-off, twrp recvoery, stock android 4.1 rom
I was roooted for sometime now and have been using a stock rom but i decided i want to try the stable cm10 rom. Created twrp backup and I followed directions and wiped cache,Dalvik cache and performed factory wipe before i flashed the rom. After the flash was successful i rebooted the phone and thats when the problems began. The Htc splash screen came on and then the screen went blank and cant get it to do anything.
what i've tried
1)held down power button for 10 secs to reboot phone, soft screen buttons light up indicating reboot, phone vibrates htc splash screen comes on and then black screen returns
2)tried to enter bootloader but holding down power button and vol button but nothing happens
3)connected phone to computer to run adb/fastboot, adb devices and fastboot devices does not find my phone
4)let the battery drain completely and then recharge but same problem persists
Im stuck on what to do next does anyone have any ideas on what to do or do i have a bricked phone.
Have u used the power/ volume down before to access bootloader cause it can be tricky if your not used to it.
Once your lights have flashed 10 or twelve times I usually take my finger off the power button and press & hold vol down then a few seconds later I press power while never letting go of vol button.
Also you never mentioned wiping system before the flash. This is probably the most important wipe. Its basically the Rom
Good luck

yea that didnt work and i tried a bunch of other thgins so now im trying to go back stock unrooted and see if i can get data again then try rooting again.

Root or no root?

It's still very early an I see a few people going stir crazy over finding a way to root their phones. I for one am not sure I want to root just yet, the reason being Samsung pay. If it's going to be as awesome as they say it will be I don't wanna miss out due to tripping Knox.
Now I do love flashing and all things root related but I'm willing to hold out.
What about you? Root or no root? Why?
I root right away even if I don't have a "good" reason too. Its the because I can. I don't really care about the tripping knox thing I guess because if you have insurance there is always a chance the device could get "broken". Then you don't have to worry about if its tripped or not. Thats the position Samsung has put me in I wouldn't typically do something like that. So ya now I'm just waiting for TWRP then I will try and make a ROM.
I tried to use chainroot, and got stuck on the logo screen. normally you'd battery pull, go to recovery and wipe data. but i can't find any way to shut down the phone, before doing power-upVol-home.
And now i've tried to odin a stock recovery to undo chainroot, odin fails. could re-run odin with auto-reboot off, but again, no way to shut off and go to recovery.
at this point i'm stuck with the blue screen asking me to use smart switch on PC to do emergency recovery. but smartswitch says the device is not recognized.
thoughts? thanks!
I don't care about warranty just samsung pay. I heard it was harder to make roms with exinos is that true?

Not sure what device you have but there was a video that said not to use the edge version of the root, and to use the regular S6 version. Running the S6 version will fix your broken device. Take this with a grain of salt, I'm just telling you what I saw. I will post the video link if I get a chance.
PS not sure if this actually helps you or not..
Rooting broke Google Play Movies on my phone, battery life was miserable and phone never went to sleep. After I unrooted everything went back to normal. So I am not going to root and just wait until things are cleaned up.
Every phone I've ever had has been rooted as soon as I got it. Not this time though, because of Samsung Pay.
If rooting breaks Samsung Pay, I'll never root the phone

not for me right now: i have the turquoise error screen telling me to use smart switch. volDown + power for 7 seconds turns the screen off... and then right back on a couple seconds later. and i can't seem to slip in the recovery key sequence during that gap.
volDown + power + home is a diff story: that brings me into download mode. but i don't have anything that works in odin right now without failing. very possible that i don't have the correct rom, or that the rom is fine but i just need to go into recovery mode to complete, but i can't seem to do that!

How about volume up+power+home to stock recovery to perform a factory reset?
No root for me I'm afraid! If I root this device I lose my nfc payment app (Semble) as it checks for root and locks the app if it's detected. Besides I've rooted every other phone I've had since iPhone Gen 1 and I don't really have the time anymore now I've got a 1 year old boy!

Why is ODIN failing? Drivers installed? Where did you get this recovery? If ODIN can see your device you flash back to unrooted stock firmware.
Also, someone mentioned that you can Vol down + power will shut the device down. As soon as the screen goes black take your finger off the power button, press and hold Vol up + home then press power. You can go right from download mode to recovery with just the buttons.
great questions:

1. i got them from mobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G925F/
I would love to hear if this is a good source. also, I don't know if it matters exactly which of those firmwares to choose (there are many, you choose country and carrier)-- i don't know which one came with this phone as it was sent as a demo to me and i didn't take a screen shot of the info screen (does it matter?)

2. that doesn't work for me, tried 15 times. I'm stuck with this turquoise error screen telling me to use emergency recovery in smart switch. i can easily get over to dload mode too. From either place, volDown + power gets the black screen and then immediately goes right back to the turquoise error screen, ignores anything else i seem to press, can't get into recovery.
No root for me either. It's hard lol. I miss it mostly for the adblocker. But I'm too worried that rooting with make it so I wouldn't be able to use Samsung pay when it comes out! If a root method is released that won't trip the KNOX sensor then heck ya, I'll root right away!

Stuck on splash screen

I completed the steps as described in this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...t/baseband-modem-oc5-odin-flashable-t3097789] , and the phone is now stuck on the "Samsung Galaxy Note 3" screen. The 1st flash went fine and it rebooted normally. After flashing the bootloader, it never became operational.
Figured it might be better to start a new thread rather then confuse the original
