[Q] Sony Z3 Tablet LTE missing "restricted Profiles" patched with Wifi only ROM
Dear Devs.
I have a Sony z3 tablet LTE version(SGP621) witch Sony seems to put what they call a "android phone software on)
This means disabling tablet features such as "restricted profiles"
Did mange to flash the device with Sony Z3 table WIFI only software(SGP611) and EXCLUDING "baseband".
Even though I ended up with a Tablet now with "Restricted profiles" but no LTE connectivity
My question is can I patch/exclude anything else to achive both LTE and "restricted profiles" features on the stock Sony roms.
Im not interested in Microsofts CM11/12 or any other thirdpary ROM.
Sony is informed about their phablet....

Two options
1. Stay with KITKAT, root, install Xposed and install the multiple module app or the simplier way
2. Upgrade to Lollipop which supports restricted profile, i have tried it, myself and profiles are great

Well you have user support then and you have guest user. O I think guest user is the same as restricted user

"Restricted profiles" is NOT the same as feature multiuser/guest account.
As it allows you to make a special user ex. for your kid an grand them access to your apps.
Which means you only need to buy apps for your own account and then share them with the users of your device.

Okay well as my experience all of my paid apps can also be accessed by another user as long as I allowed access to that app since the primary account playstore recognizes is still your account. So upon opening that paid app, it would verify that it was purchased. Have you ever tried creating another account and allowing it to have access to those paid apps you want?

Each user needs to have a google account connected. the sgp611 wifi version has restricted profiles. and thats the feature im missing

[Q] How can we download certain apps in 4.0?

Is there a way to maybe spoof the Android Market so that we can download apps that it says we can't install because it's incompatible on the device? The main example is My Verizon because it's useful for monitoring data usage.

If you are running ICS it has the data feature built into it.

I don't know about everyone else, but that's never worked for me. I'm not really worried about it cause I have unlimited data, but if you do want the Verizon app you can always sideload it. I've seen the apk floating around various places.
So far, I've never had data usage actually actively work. Although oddly the wifi data usage operates correctly. I like the My Verizon app though because it tells you your actual usage from their side, as opposed to the 4.0 feature or an app like Onavo, which I'm using, that has inaccuracies.
I'm actually the person who asked for it in JT/TeamHacksung's thread on RootzWiki but I just realized I didn't word the thread correctly because I'm more trying to see how to update some of the apps that the Market says are incompatible.

[Q] 4.2.1 Multi-user: Installation of common apps

I just moved over to CM 10.1 . I just realized that I am having to install each app twice (i have two users on my tab now).
Is there any way the owner can install an app and mak it available for others?
Has anyone else tried this out? Any ideas?

Sadly its not so simple my friend. I know we can restore things from titanium so I installed it as the primary user (owner). I had to install it again for the secondary user. But logged in as the secondary user, I can only see apps installed installed as this user. Same goes for the primary user. Is there some setting in Titanium to do this?
Seems like each user gets it own space and everything is separate. What made me hopeful was the notification when I created the secondary user. It said, some settings applies to all user eg. Wifi preferences.

By design, the multi user intention was that each user has their own play store account giving them access to their own paid apps. The paid apps or free apps are not shared between users are per login.
Doing a quick Google search yielded a possible solution: http://www.droid-life.com/2012/12/0...apps-through-android-4-2s-multi-user-feature/

How-To Adblock Without Rooting

As I have new phone and is not rooted yet, I had a look around and I was able to find this information:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2726443
I gave it a go and it works on my n7505 without any issues, at present tested only on mobile network (Optus) tonight will have a look on a wifi.
I didn't see this readily available and with many people not wanting to root and trip their Knox counter, I thought I'd show you how to get adblocking without root. This will work on both wifi and mobile data.
--First step would be to install Adblock Plus APK. I got mine from: https://adblockplus.org/en/android-install
--After installing, run the app once and activate filtering. It should now be blocking all ads on wifi only. To enable adblock on mobile data you need to add a proxy to your APN.
--Go to system settings>network connections>more networks>mobile networks>access point names. What you need to do now is go to you default APN and copy down all the settings. We only do this because you cannot edit the original APN it seems. Now create a new APN and enter in the copied settings. The only additional settings you add to add to the new APN is:
---Proxy: localhost
---Port: 2020
Make sure you set the new APN you created as active and adblocking should be working! I have done this on my T-mobile S5. Hopefully some of you will find this useful.

It works but slows down the Internet speed!
Looks fine.
But in case you root your device try MinMinGaurd from Xposed Framework, nails every add-hogging app like a charm.
There is also one to disable adds from Youtube app, its last in the download section of Xposed Framework. Those 15 second adds before every Video are passe now
I have no issues with speed. Adblock works only on mobile networks not WiFi.
On my ex rooted S2 I was using Adfree from bigtincan and it was awesome. Right now I'm so no used to ads.

When I use the Adblock some sites don't work correctly. For ex., I get a "bad request" error or some search settings don't apply. When I use no proxy all is okay.
Useless app

SAMSUNG Galaxy Note 3 neo
It worked just fine on my galaxy Note 3 Neo, thanks!
please,share your settings
Settings:
Filtering: On
Updating: EasyList (there is no local hosts catalog for my country - Greece)
Acceptable Ads: No (unchecked tick)
Notifications: transparent (ticked)
Advanced settings: enable at start up (checked)
Update: periodically
Auto-update: Wi Fi only
(translated from my Greek menu)
Working 90% if you update manually once a day, for example It doesn't work in "News Republic" final pages...
Is there anyway to get this to work without Sacrificing my Internet speed. It completely slows down my Internet to the point to where pages just time out. It was blocking ads but made my phone useless

Good day to everyone!
I suggest you try Adguard mobile app. It might be suitable for you. This is an ad blocker for Android devices that doesn't require ROOT - works both on rooted and not-rooted devices.
Available at Google play.
If you are interested, you can find more info on our website adguard. com.

Great module! Work very well.
Will it be possible to select more than one app and system apps like Play Store?

Great app. Works well. Please add multiple apps support. Thanks.
I was using this module without any issues until I rebuilt my phone using the exact same ROM I was using previously.
However, after rebuild I could not get this module to work at all.
I've removed it and re-installed it multiple times and the exact same configuration I was using before hand now has no effect whatsoever.
Any ideas what could be wrong?
There isn't much info about this module but I'd love to know how it works to check if it is actually applying the settings it is supposed to or not.
I've checked iptables and it makes no changes to them at all when I turn the settings on or off but I don't think it is using them anyway.

Connect to wifi without Phone

If you have the android wear watch but it is not conneccted to your phone or your phone is not nearnby and you stillwant to connecct to a new wifi network not saved in the watch then there are 2 ways to do it.
The Hard way
1. Edit the wifi supplicant config file located in /data/misc/wifi
As we know to go to this location, root access is required so first watch should be rooted.
here is a thread for it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/android-wear-6-0-1-root-squashfs-t3319097
Also you would require something like a root explorer or es explorer to edit the file and add password for the wifi. Also a keyboard to type. lol. App called minnum keyboard must be downloaded and setup properly. When everything is setup. just edit the file and add the password and connect to wifi
The easy way
2. download an apk called swift wifi. https://apkpure.com/swift-wifi/com.wifi.widget
use adb to connect to watch and install using "adb install appname.apk"
after installed, open the app and connect to wifi. (you will still need minnum keyboard to enter password)
When I launch Swift Wifi it'll load up and display it's string of text and the next line tells me wifi is on them crashes.

The last update was October, 2015 so I wouldn't call it "new". A lot of the comments from people with newer phones and newer OS versions complain that it doesn't work for them.
