Oh my dear i9001 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys this is my first post talking about my problematic i9001
A few months back (in november last year) I consumed the battery till it got to 0% and it shut itself off without turning on. Whenever I tried to plug the charger in , it would show a grey battery with a circle in the middle on and on without charging . Then I tried plugging the battery to a universal charger and miracle ! The phone turned on ! But whenever I charge it , the phone gets reaaaaally hot and charges really slow .
Last night I left the phone to charge overnight (plugged it in at 2%) and in the morning the phone had the same grey battery logo meaning the battery is completely empty
So I know the battery has issues BUT does my phone also have USB charger issues ? Because it charges really slow and the phone gets really hot.
Sorry if I did any mistakes and if I did not give enough details

[Q] Phone is not charging good

Hi,
The past few days my X10 is not charging very well.. It turns to 100% and if I look to it the next morning it is about 15%. And now it doesn't charge to 100%. It's very annoying now.
What can I do?
Bro! i think its a battery problem - if your battery level is let say 15% (or in status red) try this, take out the battery plug your x10 to the charger (while battery is taken out) and then while you have your x10 plugged in to the charger press and hold the power/sleep button youll feel it vibrate after the vibration put the battery back in, then your phone will boot up (if it did not boot up just turn it on your self) if your battery is faulty you should see the battery in 75-90% if this is the case you need to replace your battery it happend to me 2 weeks ago im experiencing reboots while using the phone with charger but then i noticed the battery life is so short like literaly if im at 100 then after playing 1 single game (angrybirds) for10mins on it it'll drop immediately to 50.

[Q] My GS2 won't turn on

It was working fine before I went to bed last night, then I let it charge for the night since that battery was at about 4%, But this morning it won't turn on at all. The battery feels warm as if its been charging but nothing seems to be making it turn on. Any ideas?

If it was my phone here is what I would do.
First I would see if the phone charges the battery by putting the battery into
the phone and plug the usb cable from phone into the wall charger or into
the computer.
If the display on phone shows a picture of a battery charging let it charge
for an hour more or less and try turning on the phone.
If the phone is not charging the battery I would purchase a cheapy battery
charger and battery combo on eBay.
You can find this combo on eBay for less than $8 bucks shipped for both the battery and charger:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1800m-BATTE...045605?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item43aa9a4465
(even if you decide to return and exchange the phone its still a good thing to have a spare battery and charger)
Check it out.
Good Luck!

are you on cm7? not sure about the s2 (never had the issue), but i know that on the infuse, there was a problem (or maybe it was intentional) with low power charging mode (phone wouldn't charge when off).
i think this can be solved by trying to charge the phone via your computer usb, as opposed to your OEM wall charger.
Thanks for the suggestion. It definitely isn't showing the picture of the battery when its plugged in to the wall or the computer. I'm debating the battery charger combo you linked.
I actually am. But I have it plugged to my computer and nothings changed.
Time for some trouble shooting.
Start eliminating possibilities. You need to determine where the problem is.
From what you say, it seems possible that the battery is completely discharged but not recharging. That could be a bad battery or it could be the phone.
If you know someone else with an SGS II, try inserting their battery temporarily to see if your phone will boot. If you don't know someone else, maybe you can borrow a charged battery from the store where you bought it.
Continue on until you pinpoint the problem.
Do NOT buy a "cheapie" battery for your SGS2. Unless you want to eisk causing damage. The stock battery for the SGS2 has NFC technology built into it. Using anything other than OEM could cause damage/performance issues to your phone, and void the warranty.

Have goh tried a battery pull? Unplug the phone, pull the battery and let sit for a few minutes to allow tbe IC's to discharge. Put battery back in and try powering up the device. Good luck.

Similar issue and got phone fixed finally
Have had similar issue as yours. Cable charger was plugged into the phone to be charged at night and was surprised to find that the phone became hot and battery was not charged at the next morning, in fact the battery level got lower than it was before charging.
Notes:
- ROM in use: AOCP version 7.2 (Android 4.4.2)
- Kernel in use: Version 3.0.101 [email protected] #3
Here are some tests done and the observations after getting a charger with a slot to place the removed battery for charging:
1. Charging via USB cable connected to PC:
- With the phone turned on, battery charging icon is only displayed after some wiggling at the charging port. The phone got charged further to 100% when the initial remaining battery level is 90%. However, when the initial battery level was less than 50%, the battery level continued dropping ALTHOUGH the battery charging icon was displayed.
- With the phone turned off, battery charging icon is only displayed after some wiggling at the charging port. When the initial battery level was less than 50%, the battery charging icon displayed only a battery level of 1% and the battery level did not increase at all after 15 minutes of charging.
Initially suspected that it was a dead battery issue and bought an i9100 battery, I thought it was a compatible battery at first. With the i9100 battery, I repeated the above tests.
- With the phone turned off, battery charging icon is NOT displayed but the phone screen flashed continuously, and at times the phone is turned on automatically as the USB charging port is inserted. When the phone is turned on, the charging proceeded as the above sentence.
Upon searching the forum, I found that i777 has a different battery with NFC chip and i9100 battery has reported to cause issues during charging on i777 devices. There was also a Chinese forum which mentioned that the battery compatibility issues should have been overcome in ROM with Android version 4.0 and above.
I then bought a new i777 compatible battery and tested charging via USB cable. The observations are same as the first battery as at 1.
With the battery issues possibility eliminated, I approached a phone technician to examine the phone by telling him that the phone couldn't be charged and the battery level continued dropping even with the battery charging icon displayed. The phone technician then thought that the USB charging port to be the cause of the charging issue and replaced it. The replaced part is the small metal housing where the USB cable is inserted, and is replaced by heating the old metal housing and replacing it with new part by soldering.
The phone could be charged with USB cable as usual after the part replacement and all the batteries are found to be still working fine. Ended up with 2 i777 batteries and a i9100 battery, may be I could continue using this phone for at least another 5 years down the road.

Z2 Battery will not charge to 100 %

Hi there anyone have any ideas been using my Z2 since last Friday and yesterday for some reason the device will not charge to 100 % only goes up to 96%
I have tried a different charger and still get the same problem , Also downloaded Sony pc companion software and run the repair tool to see if it resolves the issue and still same problem
Try discharge battery to 1-2% (some advise even till auto-off device) and then fully charge with bundled charger.
Mine does the same thing, don't worry.
The reason this happens is that once your battery is at 100%, it stops charging automatically, and the device waits for it to get down to 99% before starting to charge again.
Is it possible that you just keep catching it at 99%?
Mine will charge about 1% every four minutes until it hits 99%. Then that last one percent takes a couple of hours. This is according to the power/percent list in gsam. It's done it consistently from day 2. Day 1 it failed to charge beyond 80% overnight.

thanks for your help I will try a full discharge and then try charging it and see how it goes
Finally battery is flat the phone turned off , charging it now with the sony charger which came with the z2 , will let you know what happens
I did a live chat with sony and they say the device is faulty and needs to be repaired
I have rang my network provider and they will send me a new z2
96% charge and wont charge no more!!
would really like to understand what is the solution to the problem.
This is really annoying . Please need all possible inputs.
Do you think its a product issue and needs to be replaced with a new piece.
Mine charges, but...
My Z2 will charge to 100%, but after it gets to 95% the screen turns on, and stays on.
If I push the power button on the phone to turn the screen off, the screen will turn off for between 0.5-1.5 seconds, and then turn itself back on.
I have gone through quite a few settings on my phone and can't find anything that might affect this other than perhaps "Night Mode" - which I have disabled.
Please help, my provider refuses to replace my phone even though I got it brand new from them and it's only 21 days old... I do love the phone, I just hate this issue - I can't leave it charging over night, or run the risk of having the phone over heat (it happened once, this is how I first found out about the problem, I had to leave the phone off with a fan on it for a good hour before it was cool to the touch again.)
@The Midnighter
I think you have a faulty unit, mine (2nd one) doesn't even overheat unless I have severe CPU/GPU intensive apps running. Never had a charging problem either... Get it replaced mate
I always charge the phone power off, when it is full charged I get the vibra notification and the phone is 100%.

I forgot to mention - you reminded me.
When I leave my phone off and plugged in, it will charge to 100% - however I have to do a HARD RESET every time I go to turn my phone back on, after turning it off. (Holding power and volume up) or it sticks on the "SONY" screen and will not advance.
Since xperia S there is a feature which helps battery keeping good condition
Its charge to 100% and turns charging off till 95%
Its all becouse integrated battery
This is not a bug or problem

It is indeed a problem, because the screen is staying on and causing my phone to over heat - it once over heated so badly because of this I had to leave the phone off for a very long time.
The phone doesnt charge at 100% and the magnetic charger not work

I have the exact problem. The phone work ok for a few days and then stop charging at 92% and the screen stay on. I plug the charger in the night and in the morning was only at 92% and hot, very hot.
A few days ago I bought a dock charger and an usb cable to plug in the magnetic lateral charging port. And with both chargers the phone shows the charge icon for a second and desapear for another second and repeat the loop.
I try everything in the software level. Restore the firmware using pccompanion and also flash the lollipop firmaware but the problem persist. Just not tried delete the battery stats because my phone is not rooted yet.

Did u manage to fix the problem? Or did anyone here manage to fix the battery charging issue? Mine charges to 78%, then sometime 85% then hard-reset - 91%. Cant charge anything above that! : <
There's no real fix, you can only hope a rollback to KitKat might help. See this lengthy forum post on the sony forums:
https://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z2/Lollipop-charging-bug/td-p/965384
Spanning from april until right now...
Mine only gets to 70-80% on an overnight charge.
Mine charges and discharges constantly, I try change the cable, the AC adapter, the usb on my computer, the micro usb port to magnetic... Always is the same.. and another times charges too good.
Some times charge to 99% and discharge to 98%.. so I disconnect and connect again and charges to 100%
Maybe it's a Lollipop .232 problem in some devices?
Hi! Same problem here, sometimes my phone doesn't charge to 100% and I have to unplug the charger and plug it in again to get 100%. I think it's pretty common, but if your phone only charges till a low percentages and just doesn't charge further, it might be so that the phone's afflicted with the Lollipop charging bug. We can only wait for Marshmallow then

S3 Battery Drainage couldnt find a specific answer in the forums

My s3 has an ODD battery drainage issue. I went to take a nap today and my s3 dropped over 40% in charge sitting on my bed side. My s3 also doesnt charge while on charger it discharges so it slowly goes down while on charge. It however does charges up when i turn it off.
- Also yesterday I was out and noticed my phone was at 35% battery and i knew my phone battery would die if i left it on so i pulled my battery out and left it in my pocket. When the time cmae i had to use the phone i put the battery back into my phone and turned it on. MY PHONE LOST 15% charge even while OFF and battery not connecting to the phone.
What do i do?

How old is your battery?
Definitely sounds like the battery. I had a similar issue with mine a little while back where the battery would lose the majority of it's charge quite rapidly, or be at 50%, and then it would suddenly die, and then when I managed to get it back on it would be at 2-3%.
ETA: My problems vanished after a new battery install.
New battery needed.
I also noticed that Anker have their S3 batteries on for half price at Amazon UK, well worth an investment.

[Q] Battery acting insane !!

Hey XDA community,
Two days ago, I flashed my S2 to Cyanogenmod 12.1 and as always, the battery dropped to below the 15 %, so I put it to recharge. After some downloading and updating and installing, I put the phone to recharge again while it was on 4%, and I left it all night (for 7 hours) and when I woke up, I found it only at 22 % !!!
I turned it off and went to work on my laptop and put it to recharge on USB cable, the problem is that instead of recharging and going up, it showed that it was recharging but going down from 22 to 19 to 12 !! After some turning on and off and going to recovery mode, the battery died and I left it turned off for recharge, but it stayed on 0% for more than an hour !! It won't budge anymore.
I turned it on and off so it will completely discharge and recharge it with USB cable and an AC USB adapter and it actually started recharging. I took it off at 64%, flashed back to Jellybeans (JellySnap) thinking that the CM 12's battery issue isn't fixed yet, but even on Jellybean, I'm still struggling with the battery problem ! This is what happens now :
_ Recharging while turned on : It would show that it is recharging for 7~15 seconds, then it will ask to connect charger even though it's connected.
_ Recharging while turned off : The loading bar is moving but after 7~10 seconds, it would stop and the phone would either turn on by itself and start the same problem up there OR keep on rebooting on the Empty battery with the loading circle screen.
I also left it to recharge all night (6 hours) and when I woke up this morning, I found it stopped on 20%
I left it to recharge now (turned off), and so far so good, the loading bar hasn't stopped, but I need to know what is the cause of this issue. Is it software/firmware problem ? The battery ? The micro USB port ?
