[Q] Unlocked ATT M8 Lollipop Update - AT&T HTC One (M8)

Hi guys, since upgrading to a stock ATT M8 (from a rooted ATT M7) on December, I have wanted to do the Lollipop update, but I do not want to risk the phone by rooting it (maybe I could do it on a last case scenario). ATT recently pushed the OTA update to the M8, but mine is unlocked, and I'm currently using it on Claro PR, so when I check for updates it gives me nothing. So here goes my question, can I manually download and push the ATT update from HTC to the M8 (as it is on stock kit kat)? My only doubt is that since it's unlocked, could it brick during the process, or would it be alright? Thanks in advance!

Is it SIM unlocked or unlocked from HTC? Unlocked from HTC means it has no carrier branding/bloatware and can be used on any network, compared to SIM unlocked where its just an AT&T phone with AT&T apps and branding that is SIM unlocked. If its unlocked from HTC you could just use an RUU to update. If its SIM unlocked from AT&T you could use an RUU but I'm unaware if that would then break the SIM unlock.

Sim unlocked (with ATT Bloatware and branding).

So, should I do it?

[Q] Is it possible to get official ICS update on sim unlocked phone?

Hi,
I'm using a sim unlocked (not rooted) HTC Amaze phone with T-mobile; previously used with Windmobile Canada. It seems I cannot get the official update from T-mobile since my software version is different.
Is there any way I can get the official ICS, without rooting or voiding my warranty?
Thanks.

No, you have to be running T-Mobile software in order to receive an OTA from T-Mobile.

Upgrading the Rom & SIM Lock?

If I took the latest rom update would it relock my sim? I am using t-mobile and found Streak_407_20707_14.pkg 2.3.3 official update from dell.
Just don't wanna update the rom to find out I got to get the sim unlocked again, so thought I'd ask.
No. Once unlocked, no ROM upgrades (or even downgrades) will lock the Streak.
Cool thanks.

[Q] at&t htc one m8 RUU update to lollipop?????

hi ppl .... m using HTC ONE M8 (at&t unlocked),, I want to update it to android 5.0.2 through manual RUU update,,
but updating by this procedure,,,,will it relock my phone again from at&t carrier.
kindly advise
No, RUU will not SIM lock the phone again.
If the bootloader is unlocked, you need to relock.
But if the phone isn't modifed (bootloader unlock, root, etc.) then just backup you personal data (RUU will wipe the phone) and run the RUU.
same issue

Verizon phones typically have unlockable bootloaders.
If you have the MDK build you can unlock the bootloader, flash custom recoveries, roms, etc. root and such. You would need to become familiar with using Odin. From your post it would seem you are confusing sim unlock with bootloader unlock. Sim unlocked merely means you can use the phone with any service providers. Provided the radios are compatible.
If the build is other than MDK you may be able to use Safestrap to load custom roms.
All tricky. Do a lot of research first.
All galaxy phones s3 s4 s5 s6 etc are world unlocked you can put a any Sim card in it and it will switch to global network your carriers will not tell you this information
