[Q] battery dranning, lollipop rom - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

hey guys, im running v5 of twisted rom by @The Sickness. It is a flawless rom, but I was wondering how come my battery life is getting drained so fast.

Its just how it is Looks like u got many hours from that full charge though.
Lollipop drains no one has gotten to the bottom if it .
Make sure your phone is going ino deep sleep use CPU spy app.
Try to disable Volte under phone/settings
Best option to me is buy extra battery or a battery case .
Or Go back to kitkat O.S .

i have an extra battery but i don't get more than 6 hours max.

Its the o.s. the way android is Seems to get worse in time.
They don't make 5" phones to last all day
Only notes
Battery life has been the widest spread topic since day one with any phone on XDA.
Note 3...and 4 they last

I've been on twisted v5 I got two anker batteries off amazon for 28$ did a full charge made sure some settings were off
Made sure phone goes into deep sleep .
I got 9 hrs deep sleep phone went 100% to 96% drain just over night while I was asleep. I have 20hrs left before 0%
I'd suggest getting anker.
Try to adjust settings disable any built in apps unneeded.
It has to do with settings and a good battery and calibrating it.

I beg to differ. My S5 on4.4.2 lasts over a day for me with moderate use. And I had installed the custom ROM on this around Aug/Sep last year.

[Q] Is it normal (battery)

Is it normal that my battery drops a precent in around 2 hours?
revoulution rom
i heard people with some roms that droped 2 precent in 2 days so it doesnt semms legit
i think its normal but what kind of kernel do you have ?
just ask the people what they use
I drop one percent in 5 mins if screen and 3g on.
Drop one percent if in one hour if phone is idle..
I think my phone is worse

Sorry, 2% in two days is imposible on any smart phone. Do what ever you like, but you won't get that much. This would mean 100 days (even in standby mode) in one charge. Think...

ok im using set cpu now and i idid when my screen off the freq will be 200MHZ and i thought it will consume less battery and i lost 4 precent during the night its 9am here right now
and its pretty frustrating anyway to keep like 2 precent on the night?
My battery performance is not stellar either. I can get about a day (24) hours of moderate use (in this case, i mean the device is in moderate use about 12 hours, while it is idle the rest of the time).
2.3.5 is supposed to drastically improve battery life on the stock version though.
juice defender has actually been a big help for my batter and everyone i've shown it too, like anything android it takes some tweaing but once it's done it's well worth it
i changed the rom to check rom v5.5 with siyah kernel 2.0 i just overclock the CPU and underclock when not in use it saves battery
my question is now if anyone here uses this rom and can find me some themes

So is i717 just flat out a battery killing device with no hope?

The phone awesome but you'd think with a large battery. ..battery life would be stellar! !
It sucks on stock and unofficial Rom.

My battery life improved signifigantly with the ICS rom Revamped, go look for it on the development forums if you don't mind flashing a new rom.
Your phone goes dead every hour and 40 min?
I'm going on 17 and a half hours with 73% battery left. Not a ton of on screen time but a lot of deep sleep but still good to me

The biggest drain is the screen, while in use, and this is my suggestion. Definitely has increased my screen-on time.

Screen filter helps with display and the new revamped rom is back up.

I use my note running Saurom RC7.1 with overclocking from 5am until 11pm everyday, I am doing various tasks throughout and have alot going on with different widgets running and such...
5am = 100%
10:15am = 73%
Not sure what your doing but maybe your battery maybe not holding a charge like it should?
Eric
Do not use Hyperion, QCell or any other cheap ebay/amazon batteries. They are only about 1700mah at best and will kill your phone under moderate use in about 60 to 90 minutes. Maybe less.
I'm on stock GB rooted with all bloat frozen via TB and I can get through a whole day of use on one Samsung OEM batt with light to med usage.

This is no where near the average!
And you seriously must not use your phone, like at all
17 hours at 73% is a bit extreme, but so is 2% per minute drain.
I think I can represent a fairly average user. I usually check email, weather and a little reddit during my morning routine. BT is always on and connects to my car while I drive to work for about 30 minutes. I average about 2 or 3 long phone calls a day on my phone. Some text messaging throughout the day and some short internet sessions on my phone while at work. Plus a few minutes here or there for Draw Something. I stream Google Music every day on my way home for about 30 minutes. Once at home my usage varies depending on what I do for the evening. But so far I usually find I have about 50% battery life when going to bed. I actually made it through Friday and Saturday on a single charge.
So I would say that this phone has above average battery life for an android device. It isn't stellar, but it isn't bad either. My Infuse could eek out about the same life with less use. My N1 never made it even close to this length. My buddy's MyTouch 4g can't usually make it a full 24 hours.

Considering the screen size, the battery isn't actually that big. It sounds enormous due to other phones with almost a thousand less mAH, but I just bought a bunch of extra batteries. The removable battery feature is the biggest reason I switched to Android.
LTE is a HUGE battery killer. I turned off wireless since LTE is SOOOOOO much faster than any wireless connection I'm on. I'd be lucky if I could get through a workday without it being below 50% by the end of a work day and completely dead by 7pm.
Turn on wireless and it's now almost 3pm and still have 78% left.
Lets face one fact everyone is different. .everyone claims this and that and regardless of what carrier or what device people will.never see the batt life they would really.like to see.Say like 50% after 3 days heavy usage that would be a thing we.may see in.smartphones in a few years. Android o.s will always be battery harsh. Its a huge topic.
Another point.on all the claims of Great and terrible batt life has to do with the fact. .people just dont truly get how others may use there devices so heavily..streaming vid...music...downloads...mail sync...Some maybe few truly use there phones 24 hrs non stop. There probably will never be a batt drain solution for those people. So telling one person that batt is fine with all this moderate usage coming from a person who uses there data more like "lightly" rather than heavy, doesnt help a person who is a heavy heavy data user.Neither sides will ever come to an agreement.

best thing to do... use setcpu or some other overclock program. make a profile so that when your phone is sleeping it runs at the very minimum. my battery can last me up to two days depending on use. heavy use at the very least 7 hours
This is about how much screen time I get a day with the new collective ics rom

Wow that is awesome! I'm getting home with a full days use at around 50-60%- It seems to be better than my captivate was on life that's for sure.
I have had mine for two weeks- On side note? hehehe Does cycling a battery really prove to get better life as time goes by or is it a old school story about batteries use to have memory etc... and now they don't?
Modern batteries don't have memory but their battery meters can become decalibrated which can be fixed with a full change cycle. Nonetheless, I don't recommend doing that too often (I only do it like once a year) since that's bad for the battery.

[Q] Battery Life

So what's the final verdict on the s3 battery life?
I have read articles that claim that it is great.
I have read articles that talk of a bug that causes battery drain.
I have read articles about official and unofficial fixes.
And I have read articles of these fixes not working.
I'm considering getting one -and I'm not interested in voiding my warranty or risk bricking it, because I already had an issue with a note and when I took it to the shop they told me that they couldn't service it because I had updated the software myself. They stole the inner components. (When I took it to the shop, the phone would still turn on but not boot, but when they gave it back to me ten days later -it wouldn't even blink. I took it to another shop, and they told me that it had been tampered with and parts had been replaced).
So, is the battery life a crapshoot ?
Nothing wrong with the battery life. Even with heavy use you will get a day. Having come from an sgs and sgs2 I have to say this is amazing!

For me i thought it was dreadfully low when i first got it. but then again i was on it 24/7 when i first got it n still got a full day of use.
I get about 2-3 days now with daily use. mainly because ive tweaked the display brightness (which accounts for ~50% of battery use) and switched to a dark theme.
I can get up to 7 hours of on screen time. Compare that to my 4 hour screen time on my One X.
So the issues of battery drain have been masterfully dealt with, or are you guys the few lucky exceptions?
Because I've read a lot of articles complaining about battery life (and some kind of bug on the international version of the S3).
But if it's as solid as you guys are saying, I may go pick one up, today.
I can't go more then a full day with medium usage.
I do however like my screen BRIGHT as the sun, good for outdoor use. Gone are the days of 3310 where after a week i remember the thing needs charging lol.
Don't forget, you can always carry a spare battery if your away for a while, juice defender helps too

I get around 14 hours per day which is good, but what I get around 3-3.5 hours screen time, compared to my desire HD that's heaven. Brightness about 25/30%
And seriously people I don't know how you get that timings like 7 hours and such. Are you guys on stock/unrooted? If yes, then please someone tell me how.

I am on 50% brightness.
Rooted stock ICS ROM. Tegrak overclocked to 1.6Ghz.
Tons of bloatware removed.
Touchwiz frozen with Titanium Backup.
I get anywhere from 5-7 hours of on screen time depending on what I am doing.
After having owned the device for a few days, I concur with the general consensus. The battery will give you about a waking day's worth at moderate use. You definitely need to charge it every night, if you're going to use it anywhere near the way it was designed/meant to be used. But for intensive use, this will not give you a full working day, so you need to be able to charge it in the work place.

I have both. On screen time is about 6-7 hours on GS3 and I can get 5 on a good day with the One X.
Still, there are things I like about both of them.
I can hit 5 hours screen time with 2x% left with some moderate browsing and wifi constantly on

S3 battery draining issue Not encountered so far

Hello guys, I bought my s3 from t mobile Germany and so far i had only Problems with.

I am also a new S3 user (migrated from an Iphone), and have been plagued with the battery issue. However, I have come to realize that you can't have everything with charging twice a day. You need to turn off the GPS, and set the WIFI to go to turn off when the Phone is in standby. I have also turned on the Power Savings menu, but will do tests to see if that is really needed. So far 30% Discharge in 5 hours....
Here is a link to a guy listing all his settings ( http://www.samsunggalaxys3forum.com...ttings-worth-try-those-poor-battery-life.html ).... Experiment and make your own call. Unfortunately, you have to be very aware what you have turned on... or at least that has been my experience after the last few days...
Facebook is known to cause some battery drain. Anyway, you should install BetterBatteryStats (search the foruns, there's a huge topic about it). BBS will give you precious information about what is using your battery and how much it's using it.
Nevermind what I said... 4 hours today with "normal" usage and I am at 45%. The S3 is a battery hog compared to the Iphone.
I installed this morning bbs, ill post the prinČ› screen when i got my battery empty. An update i just bought a 4300 mili ampers battery and i still cant get the Stats from other members even with this.
I forgot to say GPS is off all the time aswell and wifi only when i need IT.

your screenshot shows 1hr21m on battery with 97% left. whats the problem? charge phone to 100%. use normaly until you get down to about 10% and then take a screenshot of system settings/battery and post.
Punctuation is your friend. One lonely question mark at the end doesn't count.
