[ROM] [N915PVPU2BOC8] [100% Stock, Root, Odexed/Deodexed, No KNOX/Itson] [4/28/2015] - Sprint Note Edge Android Development

I bring to you completely stock builds of Lollipop (N915PVPU2BOC8). Built from the official Samsung tar. The rom is rooted and has init.d/busybox support. Knox and Sprint Itson has been removed completely. The roms are available as odexed and deodexed . Also included in every rom is the OC8 modem and HLOS patch to ensure you have the latest modem with this rom. (the HLOS patch is the factory Samsung modem patch and I simply added it in just like the official tar. I have no other details, it is official from Samsung and apparently has an important purpose.).
Other than having root, the removal of Knox & Itson, these roms are completely stock in every other way. These roms are stock and will stay that way. Please don't ask for mods, changes, etc in this thread. These roms are intended for those people who want the stock roms in their original form with the addition of root and removal of Knox & itson as well as other members who need a good solid base for their rom projects. I WILL NOT add the hotspot mod to this stock rom. there is a seperate thread for this. Some people actually pay for the hotspot and the mod does not need to interfere in any way for those people.
I give permission for other dev's/chefs to use this rom as your base and I highly recommend that you do so because it is bug-free and built from the official Samsung .tar. However I do expect credit if you use this rom or portion of it for any other project. If you like my work please press that Thanks button and consider making a kind donation for my efforts. Enjoy!
Important Note: Before flashing ANY Lollipop ROM. including this one, you MUST first have done one of the following: Taken the Lollipop ota update OR odin flashed the stock N915PVPU2BOC8_N915PSPT2BOC8_SPR rom tar. If you are still on any KK based rom (including any KK AOSP/CM based roms) then you MUST first update to Lollipop by one of the two methods I mentioned BEFORE flashing either of these roms..
Flashing instructions: ***Before beginning the flash/setup process MAKE SURE your battery has at least 50% charge and/or connected to the charger!!!***
1. Backup anything you don't want to lose off your internal storage to another location.
2. Download the rom using your pc. (downloading with your phone has a much higher risk of file corruption. Not recommended with large files).
3. VERIFY the md5!!! Once the download has finished, compare the AFH md5 using a md5 tool on your pc. (Google is your friend).
4. Put the downloaded rom onto your internal storage or external micro sd card.
5. With phone powered off, reboot into recovery by pressing and holding volume up, power and the home button until you see the samsusung logo then release all buttons.
6. Once in recovery choose the wipe button and do a factory reset three times. Optional but recommended is to do a "Data" wipe. This will wipe all of your internal storage so MAKE SURE you backed up first like i said in step #1 above! Then go to "advanced wipe" and select all of the partitions EXCEPT micro-sd card and internal storage. Internal storage is optional but recommended on first time flashing Lollipop.
7. Choose the "Install" option and select the rom "N915PVPU2BOC8_Odexed/Deodexed_Stock_ROM" from either your internal or external micro-sd card. It will flash the rom and give a confirmation once completed.
8. Press "Reboot" then "reboot system".
9. Initial rom setup will take several minutes and remain on the yellow Sprint Spark screen for at least 13 minutes (definately much longer than what you are used to). Let the phone setup/optimize for at least 15 minutes and the screen WILL eventually turn off once it finishes.
10. When you see the screen turn off, you can proceed with the setup wizard. Once finished with setup wizard wait a few moments and the phone will automatically install the sprint apps. You must either "accept" or "disagree" with each and every google prompt for these apps or else the installs pause untill you do so.. Also you will be prompted for the "connections optimizer". Quickly set it to what you want and close it. That's it! You're done!
flashing anything on your device is done at your own risk. There is no way myself or any other developer can guarantee that flashing this ROM or any other file will not brick your device or otherwise cause some other type of damage. This is just a standard warning. I am not responsible for anything that you do to your device.

Quick question about the hybrid rom. It may be similar with stock but every once in a while I bump the phone and the screen turns on. Is there a way to turn off that feature or is that even an option?
Thanks and sorry to post in this stock thread but I just don't know if it's a glitch or a feature that is turned on.
Edit: I'm an idiot. It was a notification app I downloaded and completely forgot I had done so. Removed no more screen coming on.

Do i have to have rood and custom recovery. Or just be 100% lollipop? And by this having
No KNOX/Itson will it still trip the counter?

Yes you have to have root and TWRP custom recovery is the recommended recovery (just use note 4's twrp it'll be a little jumpy but it works) and i don't believe it trips the counter I wanna say I'm 95% sure it doesn't

The answer is yes to all of your questions. I think you should do more research before tampering with your phone so that you first know exactly what you're doing and secondly learn how to do what's required to flash a custom/stock rom. You WILL trip the KNOX coynter on your phone if your root and flash non official roms. There's more information about this, just search.

This may or may not be a feature on the Note Edge. I haven't heard of it before. The only feature that I know of that is similar on the regular Note 4 is the vibration upon picking up the phone to notify you of notifications. But this doesn't turn on the screen. I suspect your issue is somehow part of the stock rom because I haven't changed anythin in the rom that would cause anything like this. I'm not familiar with the Note Edge.
I will build a new X-Series rom with V4A if there is enough interest and continued support from users.

I would like to see hot-spot unlocked in the next version. I really appreciate this..

Not to be rude, but there is a thread directly below this one dedicated to the hotspot mod. Just a little reading might keep more of these developers, who are doing this for free for us from just calling it quits. Again just my thoughts.

[Q] Please help me save my 3 months old GN2

Hi i got my white AT&T Galaxy Note ii few months back and i really loved it, i was first using my phone with Wifi since it was locked, but after unlocking it few days ago, when i inserted my sim card, the phone showed 4G and ever since my BATTERY have not known peace, i loose 1% battery life in like 2 minutes.
I also had issues turning on my wifi hotspot so i can share network to other devices.
When i found this awesome site, i learned that i could root my phone and get it to do so much more, i did that successfully with an APK app here called framaroot, now i followed every single step well and booted my phone with Samsung Custom rom i think.
But the problem now is, my battery is still not been able to hold a charge, the 4G icon is still there which i don't need for anything, am ok with 3G, and i still have all this crazy useless AT&A apps allover my phone and i can't even turn on my hotspot for tethering.
Please i hope to get solution to this problems, and i hope i have not asked my question in the wrong thread.
Thanks all.

first flash the stock
then root
then do as you want install any custom rom kernel etc etc
and the process for installing stock rom will be on the original thread of the rom so follow that

Hi,
After installing the Jedix 19 ROM the phone is stock on the Samsung Galaxy Note II logo.
What do you think could be the cause of this, i even did the wipe data and wipe cache process but still the same thing.
Do you have a recovery installed? If you've got cwm, download CyanogenMod and stick it on an mini SD card, move it to your phone, factory wipe it and flash it. Its worked for me on a boot looped gnote2. Also, once you get a working ROM, just use your root to remove system apps.
only do this is if you have a custom recovery like cwm or twrp
Step by step:
0: get the required stuff, you're gonna need about 250mb of internet, a microsd card, a card reader and some patience.
1: download CyanogenMod, http://get.cm and get a stable for the t0lteatt (att gnote 2)
2:download gapps for 4.3.
3:move them both to the SD and put it in your phone. Boot into recovery.
4:factory reset it, hope you don't using a out of the box phone.
5:flash cm, then gapps.
6:reboot
7:if it works, take a backup
Good luck!

Hi thanks so much for your reply, i appreciate your time.
Yes i have a backup file with the help of CWM and i have been able to move back to my backup file.
My phone model is SAMSUNG-SGH-I317 and from all the reviews i have seen i think the JediX Custom ROM is the best yet for it so am trying to stick with it for a start.
I need suggestions on why after getting the congratulation message to feel the force, it won't boot and just hangs.
Please if you have experienced this in the past please your suggestions are welcomed.
Ask me questions and i'll provide answers that am sure will help you to help me solve this
I would just flash cyanogen for the time being to see if itll even boot. It just replaces the downloading stock in previous posts. If you can get it to boot, that will be progress.

So sorry i forgot to mention it that i was able to restore to my stock backup file and my phone is working fine, but i still want to flash a ROM on it.
Am tired of charging this phone every minute, this is a Note II for crying out loud.
If i ask you to choose for me, between Jedix19 and CyanogenMod 10, which would you stick with so that i'll know if am to start downloading a new ROM to flash again and try.
Thanks
Honestly I've never used a Jedi ROM, so mainly if you want to stick to Jedi try flashing a different version. Good job taking that backup, that saved a whole lotta trouble.

That, or your battery may just be shot. You can buy one for it off the internet: I'm rockin' a 5300 mah for this.

[Q] Take OTA update?

Just picked up my note 3 running 4.3 an hour ago and have not unlocked/rooted/custom recovery it yet, still 100% stock. There is an OTA available and I was wondering if I should take it before rooting?
Thanks in advance
You can either, accept the ota and then root(which I never liked accepting a ota cause Im cautious of downloads being corrupt.) Or you can download a odin version of kitkat and flash thru odin then root(which is what I did)
Thank you very much for your answer MrWicked! One more question if I may ... I just came from US Cellular with the Note 2 to Sprint with the Note 3 - we had very little development there compared to here. I have read a ton of topics on here today about Knox, NAB engineering bootloader, Odin ... etc. and I understand that and how to follow instructions, but I see several different ways. I was wondering which method you used or would suggest? All I am trying to accomplish at this point is root, custom recovery, a (close to) stock rom, (hopefully) not trip the Knox trigger, and run titanium backup (which I read there are issues with that I have to fix afterwards).
Ok couple things, no matter what root method you chose once you flash a recovery it will trip knox. So that being said you have a couple options......
1. You flash via odin the kitkat update and use the "kingo" root method which I personally have not tried and can't give much input on. It is not supposed to trip knox it leaves you rooted but with your stock recovery. Once you flash a recovery you trip knox. But you are stuck with a stock rooted rom in which you could use titanium backup.
2. You flash the kitkat via odin, and you use Chainfire's method(which is what i did personally) I have always had good luck with Chainfire's root methods. but then it trips knox and you can flash a recovery and flash what ever roms you like. But at this time technically you warranty is voided with Samsung.

I would wait on kitkat. I have been running it on a stock n3 for about a wk now and I'm not liking it at all. my bluetooth for my car is very buggy, stock email is buggy and I'm getting a 3rd less battery out of it. I would have 70% left at the end of my day now I'm lucky if I have 50%. I would wait for kitkat until they work out the bugs.

Been reading up on Sacs v1 and it looks like I wouldn't have a problem if I go this route since I am on mj4. It looks like I can follow the instructions completely from rlmiller here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50794223&postcount=20 and do my root and everything in one stop shopping. Also from what I have read once I go to kit kat I can't go back to jelly bean ... I would assume there would be no reason to back up my stock rom after rooting since I can't go back ever.

SOrry for so many questions, but I saw that a few people has issues. Hopefully last question and I will be golden ... For Philz I see to downloads in the link provided by rlmiller - philz_touch_6.12.9-hltespr.tar.md5 and philz_touch_6.12.9-hltespr compared to just one file for TWRP - TWRP KITKAT hltespr-recovery-4.4.img. To use Philz do I need just one file or both? The reason I ask is because in the instructions it says "And lastly....
Now powerdown phone and start up in download mode again.
start odin and plugin phone again.
now click in phone slot and browse to TWRP file
you now click start and wait until it says pass and reboots. Unplug and wait for startup"
But it does not give instruction for Philz, which is 2 different files that are not the same as the TWRP.

But it does not give instruction for Philz, which is 2 different files that are not the same as the TWRP.

No just flash the stock....let it load up....reboot into dl again...odin cf autoroot....boot up....then reboot dl mode again then you can flash which ever recovery you like twrp or philz.....then load up reboot to recovery I would make a backup then flash Sacs rom....then you should be all good to go. And no prob on the questions it's better to ask then not.

Sorry, I think I didn't explain well. I am going to go with Philz because it worked well for you, but my question was which Philz file:
philz_touch_6.12.9-hltespr.tar.md5
or
philz_touch_6.12.9-hltespr
do I use in whe I get to the TWRP area of the instructions:
Now powerdown phone and start up in download mode again.
start odin and plugin phone again.
now click in phone slot and browse to TWRP file <----------------------------------- here
you now click start and wait until it says pass and reboots. Unplug and wait for startup
Yeah instead of the twrp file you use the philz tar.md5

Thanks for the advice on this, may I ask what Rom you are on?
Been reading up on Sacs v1 and it looks like I wouldn't have a problem if I go this route since I am on mj4. It looks like I can follow the instructions completely from rlmiller here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50794223&postcount=20 and do my root and everything in one stop shopping. Also from what I have read once I go to kit kat I can't go back to jelly bean ... I would assume there would be no reason to back up my stock rom after rooting since I can't go back ever.

[ROM][ODIN][4.4.4] SM-G900P NI3 - Full Restore (Modem/Kernel/Recovery)

First off I would like to please ask everyone to thank the anonymous donor for this file because we wouldn't be seeing it today without them.
For all those that have been waiting, it's not the official release - but it is stable enough for daily driver use.
I haven't had much time to test this but the only issue I had with it was flashing it.
If it gets stuck trying to get to recovery pull the battery and flash again.
I am marking this a full restore because it looks like it wiped data, including pictures. YMMV.
At the moment I'm only putting the original file up.
I'll try to get an Odin one-click and a nodata version up later.
Link to NI3 folder:
http://www.rwilco12.com/downloads.p... Galaxy S5 (Sprint) (SM-G900P)/Stock ROMs/NI3
Steps:
1) Download EXE file, double-click to extract.
2) Put the phone in download mode.
If you've never done this before, easiest way is to shut the phone down completely.
Then hold Vol Down + Power until you see a warning screen. Press up to proceed.
3) Open Odin (I used 3.07), place in PDA slot and flash.
4) Profit!
Please feel free to leave feedback on the flash and ROM but please keep in mind I have no special contact to relay that feedback.
Do me a favor please - if you're going to reply don't clutter my thread with spam. Thank you.

There is a problem with the screen not turning off when making a call. Other than that it seems smooth so far. Wifi calling is only new feature that i have tested, and it seems to work fine.
You cant root with towelroot you have to use cf-autoroot which trips knox. Since i had tripped it already WTF not. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51421067&postcount=2

I have that screen on while on a call problem with my not yet rooted S5 on NE5 from time to time. That one may not be new. I wonder if its possibly a hardware issue?

I now have a bootable odexed version. I probably wont do deodexed right away, its not worth the extra effort. Going to try getting one done that is rooted with busybox to post later.
Edit: And it seems to be fine with the NE5 modem too so no worries there.
I'm on my way home I may deodex it. Will post back if I do.
Oh great, I was just getting my rom ready to release an update, lol. Thanks for working on this guys.

[MOD] [Sprint N915PVPU2BOC8_N915PSPT2BOC8] [Hotspot/USB-Tether Mod] [4/27/2015]

This belongs in the Sprint Note Edge N915P device specific forums, which there is none, so I'm putting it here so not to entice other device users to flash this file. If you don't have this specific device, DO NOT FLASH!!!
This mod is ONLY for the Lollipop builds as stated in the title. Do NOT flash if you are on a KitKat rom.
I don't own the Sprint Galaxy Note Edge, I own the regular Sprint Galaxy Note 4. I figured you all might want to have this option for your rare phones with little development. This is a permanent solution for unlocking the native hotspot as well as USB tether feature. it will not be overwritten by prl or profile updates wether pushed automatically by Sprint or done by the user.
Instructions: You MUST have root. No Exceptions.
[for deodexed Lollipop 5.01 N915PVPU2BOC8 / N915PSPT2BOC8 roms ONLY]
Flash the zip from the link below in recovery and reboot system. No need to wipe anything. When the phone reboots it may take up to 15 minutes for the phone to optimize the system again. In this case just let the phone sit and once it finishes the screen will go off. You will now have working hotspot as well as usb tether feature.
[for factory stock rooted odexed roms, VERY IMPORTANT]
Download the hotspot mod zip file and put it on your internal or external storage.
BEFORE flashing the hotspot mod you MUST first use a root file explorer to delete "services.odex" file located in system/framework/arm folder. (The system will likely freeze or auto reboot... in this case, pull the battery and reinsert it). Then IMMEDIATELY power off your phone. Next reboot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvic-cache. Last, flash the hotspot mod zip file and reboot system. Reboot will take several minute while the system optimizes (apx. 15 mins) so don't panic. When the screen finally turns off the optimization is finished.
Done!
If you find this mod useful, please press that THANKS button!!! Enjoy!!!

Much appreciated. I've been waiting for this! Now hopefully someone will leak a lollipop rom for us. Samsung keeps delaying the OTA.

I flashed in recovery and it immediately flashed said it was done. I rebooted no hotspot. Any other ideas what I may have done wrong? To the OP,I bit the bullet and bought the Edge. I was worried Samsung would eliminate the sd card in the Note 5

Instructions:
[for deodexed roms]
Flash the zip from the link below in recovery and reboot system. No need to wipe anything. When the phone reboots go take a nap, drink a beer or eat six tacos because it "might" take up to 15 minutes for the phone to optimize the system again. In this case just let the phone sit and once it finishes the screen will go off. You will now have working hotspot as well as usb tether feature.
[for odexed roms, VERY IMPORTANT]
After flashing this mod and once the phone boots, you must immediately remove the "services.odex" file located in system/framework/arm. Use Root Explorer (my personal favorite) or similar root file browser and delete services.odex and reboot.

This sent me into a battery-pulling bootloop as well. I flashed SprNoteEdgeDeodexedStockNoKnoxNK1.zip as noted in the other thread. I'd give you a link to find it, except, well, given the massive flow of ROMs, tweaks, mods, themes, kernels, et cetera, for this phone, I think you'll do just fine on your own...
However, once I did, all was back to normal, except, there is no "services.odex" file located in system/framework/arm. There isn't even a /arm folder.
And the hotspot works just fine.
If one of you could zip up a stock services.jar and it's odex file i will redo the mod. I need the files from the very latest build. PM me the link whomever uploads it. Thanks in advance.

Another member has already uploaded the files. I'll get it done and uploaded today. Look for an updated link in the OP later today.
Edit: The OP has been updated with a new build of the hotspot mod. So download it again and give the new version a try. The instructions will be exactly the same. This mod is deodexed. Stock odexed rom users MUST manually delete the services.odex file located in system/framework/art folder immediately after flashing this mod!!! You can add the hotspot toggle using SQLite editor or by flashing a rom which the dev included the extra toggles. Google or search here on XDA for those instructions.

Make sure you wait at least 15 minutes and the phone may sit at tghe yellow sprint spark screen while the system re-optimizes. If it doesn't finish booting after waiting 15 minutes then pull battery and reboot into recovery and wipe cache & dalvic cache and reboot system again. Wait another 15 minutes and see if it will boot.

( Stock Firmware) Release For Galaxy S4 (I545PP) OH7

after a long wait for the firmware to be released of the S4 running OH7 , it still has not been released. However i decided to make it myself and now we finally have it. I have tested it on my S4 that came with OH7 build originally. So here you go guys, Firmware containing OH7 running lollipop 5.0.1 with stock kernel 3.4 of mon Sep. 7 2015.
little guide to help you install the firmware if you need it.
you will find the firmware link below that i have uploaded and as for odin you can just google it. now im sure you can use other versions of odin but always safest to be up-to-date.
you will need: OH7 firmware file (Download link at the bottom), odin 3.10.7, WinRar and USB data cable
steps:
1. put phone into download mode by holding the home+vol up+power keys at the same time.
2. plug your phone into your PC (be sure drivers for the phone are installed correctly)
3. open up your handy tool of Odin
4. open up the firmware file you have downloaded in Winrar and extract it, you will then be given an MD5 File containing the firmware
5. click on "AP" in odin and browse for the file (odin might not respond after that but be patient, it will)
6. after the program responds, double check that F. Reset time and Auto Reboot are the ONLY ones ticked/checked
7.Go ahead and hit start and sit back for a few minutes and let odin do its thing
8. after all goes well and in the top box says "PASS!" then your phone will reboot and be good as new.
Just a heads up that this firmware is meant and made for the prepaid variant of the Verizon S4. I wouldnt recommend trying it on the postpaid S4 for the postpaid firmware has negative effects on the prepaid variant so id assume it have the same outcome on postpaid variant. Also im not responsible like anyone else out there if you brick your phone by not following the steps correctly or flashing it incorrectly in some way. Just a disclaimer that everyone puts out on here. hope this helps everyone. enjoy!
If the link becomes a broken link, let me know and i will update. i just need to move the file from time to time due to high data traffic

Well if you could do both, I'd really appreciate it. I can't even begin to understand how to extract an md5. So confusing. Plus gotta get it to work with flash fire. I tried other roms with flashfire and kept getting system not responding. So I always had to Odin back to stock and on the custom rom I never get even a boot animation. So I'm not sure what's up with it

Flash fire is horrible. Use v24 seems to be the best atm. I can do both. In the middle of mod'ing the s5 rom I made. But after I build it I would have you test it 1st before deodexing as you want to make sure it boots 1st before moving on.

I think I tried your rom before. Your username was on a rom that I tried. It was non mdk which was said to use. I used flashfire beings I can't have safestrap on lollipop. It's all I could use to flash things thanks to a locked bootloader. But I'll try your suggestion and I can surely test what you put out for the s4. Just need an idea of what to use to flash things. And you talking version 24 of flashfire? Cause I already use that an got those outcomes. Also if it makes it any easier on you, could you just rebuild your ultranote5 rom for the prepaid variant? Whichever is easier for you. I loved the feature list that you had for it though I couldn't get it to get past the boot screen cause it would like freeze at the animation but at the same time there wasn't even an animation. Just a quick Samsung sound that doesn't even finish. Wish I knew more about rom development but it can get get complex I think.

Not sure if it's still an issue or not, but I had similar problems before. Flashfire didn't seem to be finishing backups or flashes. I think I was using v18 or 19. Setting the screen timeout to 10 minutes fixed it, no problems after that and I just set it back when I'm done.

My screen never shut off when I used flashfire. So I'm not sure. Could be something in flashfire being it was made for the s4. Not the prepaid variant. So maybe some code in it is different in the postpaid. Who knows

Ah, not sure about that. I'm pretty sure my screen would shut off and then reboot shortly afterward as if it finished properly. I also just remembered that flashfire used to rearrange the order that the operations were added and would move the wipe toward the bottom of the list, usually after the flash. I would double check that the order is correct before starting if you haven't already. Those two were the only problems I had. Hope those tips help in some way.

Well far as I know I'm using the up to date version which is .24. I haven't had the screen off issue or the rearranging problem. Flashfire showed what it was doing and what order it did it in. Everytime I used it, if the screen went black, it would say rebooting...after all was finished. So maybe the version you had was just buggy which the dev did say its a work in progress. Stuff like that, I'd be surprised if they got it to work perfectly with no bugs

Well I am looking to install xposed as well but we gotta wait for the dev to have free time to rebuild a rom to the oh7. Well at least he has two people willing to test now for him. How did you get unlimited data with Verizon? They so stingy with data
Sorry been busy. Will build it tonight. Already deodexed. Just got to build it. If all you doing is using it for a hot spot why waste time building a rom for it. Dl a app and use your hot spot. I use foxfi on my s7 edge. Works np.
Let me know. Thought this was for people to actually use.

Black screen means the order was incorrect and wipe was moved to the end.

I'm not looking to use it for the hotspot. I already can use it without any problems. I'm just wanting a custom rom/modded stock rom, I hate full stock and I love being deodexed. I'm sure more people will use your rom once they discover it.
If you believe that flashfire moved the order around, what can I do to stop that? The log in it says what it's doing and it says it's going in correct order so im not sure. Ive been using v24 which is latest I think

Flash Fire moves it on its own right before you flash. You have to press and hold wipe and drag it to the top. It does this a lot. Pain in the arse. Ok I'll build it then just wasn't sure

I did that cause it put it at the bottom at default. I moved it to the top but still got same outcome. Maybe it's something to do with the kernel an bootloader bring different? That's my guess

Well I tried out your ultra note5 and non mdk one. I believe the ultra note wouldn't show the boot animation and cut off booting sound after a second then did nothing. The other one which was the non mdk one, didn't show boot animation but made the Samsung sound correctly but after booting into the system like ten minutes later of waiting, I get a pop up of system is not responding. If I ignore it an let it load another ten minutes or so, the setup wizard opens but if I hit wait or close on the system not responding box, it all closes and goes to black screen again and just repeats
