Sim unlock - Sprint HTC One (M9)

Has anyone found a reliable way to sim unlock the sprint version of this phone yet? I been looking into the threads on XDA and google, doesn't seem like theres a way yet?
Also does anyone know if i'd be able to use this phone on gsm carriers in canada after unlocking?
Thanks for future replies!!
http://www.htcunlockingservice.com/htc-phone-unlock-network/CDMA-EVDO-REV-A--USA--htc-one-m9.htm.htm i found this site for cdma devices, has anyone tried this site b4?

So far none of the methods used for m7 and m8 work. Trying to gather info and see. Any old hand willing to lend some help?

I'm confused, I thought this was a global phone and thus I would be able to pop in a sim from another country and have it work automatically? Either that or be able to get an unlock code directly from sprint. Was I wrong by assuming this? : I'm going out of country in two weeks and more than likely am screwed if this is the case D:

Im not sure but I think this may work

Just tell me every details you get

Even if you did find a way to simunlock it it wouldn't do you much good as the Sprint M9 lacks the radio frequencies required to work on most other domestic carriers:
http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/...rock-out-with-their-flagships-for-the-season/
Second, the One M9 was not tested, thus is not authorized for domestic GSM/W-CDMA bands. Rabid phone unlockers under the new Sprint domestic unlocking policy, consider yourselves forewarned.

Comfirm, not work this method. Nothing happen when I touch Start button

when i try to flash the files from the instructions twrp just restarts. anyone knows why this is happening? and how to fix it

I bought an HTC One M9 that was supposed to be unbranded and unlocked and turned out to be a Sprint locked phone.
The guy who sold it to me was able to get the unlock codes.. but I am outside the US and trying to unlock the phone requests an update (i assume from the carrier).
But as I am outside of the US i have no link to the carrier..
Is there anyway to force the sim unlock so i can enter the code?
When I put in the sim, it says SIMLock enabled contact customer service.

Sim Unlock Sprint HTC One M9 outside the US?!
Trying to sim unlock the Sprint HTC One M9 variant. I've managed to unlock the bootloader and root the device but now I'm stuck with the next step. I live outside the US so Sprint cant help me and the phone hasn't been activated on Sprint. I was hoping i could sim unlock this the same way I did with my M7 but no luck? Help anyone?

Okay, I have a question. I have a Sprint HTC One M9, and I want to go to the T-Mobile store tomorrow and get a T-Mobile SIM for it. I'm not allowed to post a link to the page I'm referencing (under 10 posts), but according to Sprint's page "FAQs about Unlocking Your Sprint Device":
Under the second bold question, where it says "Will Sprint notify me when my device is eligible to be unlocked/has been unlocked?": It says all DSU-capable devices are automatically unlocked. This means that I should be able to go to T-Mobile tomorrow and get the SIM card and just put it in the phone for it to work, correct?
Sorry for the noob question. Definitely appreciate any help.

Nope it's still going to be locked. I bought my phone outright from HTC and spent hours trying to call Sprint (both regular and international support) and get it domestically unlocked, and all they give me is the run around and my MSL. They keep saying the new provider can use the MSL to reprogram the phone to make it work, which I believe is what happens when you flash to a prepaid CDMA carrier, not for GSM.
I kept arguing (with the call center manager) and went over the terms on the Sprint website to no avail. They'll unlock the SIM for international use no problem, but domestically, they will say it's impossible.
I've only heard of 1 other person from the Sprint forums getting the DSU unlock on the M9 and it was a pain for him as well. I pretty much gave up. Not worth the hassle. If you get yours domestically unlocked, please let me know and I may try again.

Please see this forSIM unlock http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-one-m9/general/sim-unlock-thanks-to-gcprokey-t3166761

as I know this is international unlock. so when you will arrive to your country you will need just local sim card and it will work well if the phone was unlocked correctly before

Seen a lot of offers for IMEI unlock code for jetstream around the net. Anyone tried that? fake?
Having mine shipped tomm to the middle east...already obtained the IMEI and had it unlocked by one of those sites you mentioned...will update next week when I receive it
I got mine sent to me by a friend in the states, it was bought without a plan and came locked to at&t, I called them and explained I live in Australia but they said they couldn't unlock it. I was able to get an unlock code and made a video about it here http://youtu.be/a8eN0roRxHQ
Now it is unlocked hope that helps
Thank you everybody for feedback!
Great News - will try unlocking my HTC JetStream which will use a Middle East carrier data SIM & will update - thanks for the hint !!!
Perfectly unlocked to used with any SIM, I paid 25$ to HTCIMEIUNLOCK, waited 15 minutes, got the unlocking code, entered it and ...WOW !!! SIM unlocked.
Working perfectly on ORANGE network in Israel. If anyone wants to see here it is:

I have ordered mine from AT&T through a friend.

Hm Interesting.
I got my hands on a HTC jetstream test machine for their engineers and it didn't come locked. Had AT&T Logos on it as well. Could just be because it was for the Taiwan Engineers so they didn't lock it. Quite interesting.
Can anyone verified if Jetstream gets 3G/3.5G speed on US T-Mobile sim card with AWS frequency? Or just edge? Someone from XDA posted the Youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcZlljP62Ew&feature=youtu.be) video saying it works on Orange network, but I realized the device was only getting "edge".

Rooted first but now cannot sim unlock
Hello Everyone,
I have a Jetstream ATT which I rooted with developer d00mlord's stuff. Recently I decided to unlock it from the ATT network. The unlock code says unlock successful, but after rebooting it comes back up with the same locked screen. This will happen over and over again. This is happening with an ATT sim card too, so that I cannot use the data features with anything but wifi. The company who provided the unlock code tells me it may be due to the tablet having been rooted, and that I will need to factory reset everything. So, I am hoping that someone might be able to tell me what I should do. I have noticed that this thread addresses the sim unlock first and then a root afterwards, but not the other way around. I cannot seem to find a thread that is more relevant. This is my first posting and I am brand n00b so thank you very much for even reading this over.
when you say locked screen..what exactly do you mean?
for other sims to work you need to add a proper APN (maybe even for at&t after the unlocking). try googling: "the name of your provider + APN settings"
and add it to the settings>wireless>mobile networks

[Q] Is it possible to remove network lock without an unlock code?

I have reviewed similar threads for a few days but have not found any answers. The simple question I have is in the title:
Can you unlock the ATT Atrix without an unlock code.
However the situation is a bit more complicated and ill explain.
I have been traveling the past few months and was in Costa Rica for a month. I decided to purchase a local SIM so I could use my phone without paying ridiculous ATT roaming charges. I inserted the SIM and it was locked, unaware of the network lock I inserted my personal code thinking that may be it. No luck and returned to my old ATT SIM. At this point it still worked but a few days passed and I tried again, still no avail so I contacted ATT. It just so happened the 6 month mark was coming up from the original purchase date of my phone so they would provide the unlock code in 4 days time. I waited and finally received, after inserting the code it did not work and I contacted ATT back to assure they provided the proper code as they had to send me a replacement phone a few months prior due to my original Atrix crapping out. They checked it out and determined it was correct but it never worked. I finally inserted my original ATT SIM back into the phone and it also requested network unlock code. Now I am back in the states and even with the original ATT SIM it still requests for the network unlock code. I tried unlocking and flashing with CM7 beta and STILL requests unlock code. So basically the phone is useless for network data but will work fine as a mini tablet i suppose connected to WIFI.
So with that explanation does anyone have any idea on bypassing this or removing this entirely, not even to use overseas but just on the ATT network!
Additionally
ATT provided me with another Atrix to alleviate my troubles so im not entirely phoneless. However I would like to sell one of these and possibly purchase the GS2 0_o
I have contacted 3 cell phone unlocking sites explaining the situation and only one has responded but not with any answers.
HELP!
if you got a new phone, is it still asking for a network unlock code?
No. Its working fine, but I still have this perfectly good working phone I would rather use and sell the brand new one. Unless I cant get rid of this unlock problem I suppose Ill sell it as is. Any takers?
Hi, I talk to att once when i want to unlock my atrix and they told me if the phone is more than six months old the give you the unlock code for free.
so for the atrix if that is your phone you can ask att for your code since august 21.
just call att customer support.
hope this help.
try a diff sim card with data plan and see if it still asks for code
or try flashing a custom rom
I suppose I was not clear in the OP. ATT DID provide this code for me. I did flash a custom rom already.
As far as using a different SIM card I tried to use a second SIM that ATT provided and still nothing.
I am assuming this is a very unique situation and probably wont find any answers unless someone has successfully unlocked the phone by flashing some special ROM.
Flashing a ROM of any kind will never sim-unlock your phone.... ever. period.
The only way to resolve this is through AT&T. The only way to sim-unlock is with the code it requests.... must have proper code. That is the only way. So, I would talk to AT&T about it, in person, at a local store.
I unlocked the inspire 4G simple by rooting and flashing a custom rom didnt ask for network password after that it worked on tmobile
With edge service no. 3g or 4g different bands between tmobile and att

Just the info I was looking for. Basically the phone is boned in that case. Spent a good with with ATT advanced tech support and motorola to no avail.
What I do want to know is WHERE this information is stored out of curiosity. It seems the modding community would have tinkered with some hacks to remove the sim lock at some point.

Ok so I am reposting and not editing as I feel this deserves a bump.
I got my new Atrix unlock code from ATT today and tried it on the new Atrix I received and that one ALSO will not unlock.
Is there ANY ATT Atrix sim unlocked and if so how did you go about doing it? I have only found one thread and no response via PM.
How to SIM unlock Atrix!
I have read both your post and I believe you used a ATT sim card that was not in use or a GO phone Sim card. Am I correct so far? To sim unlock you have to insert a non ATT sim card!! No go phone sim card or a non active att sim!
Call one of your friends and borrow a Verizon sim or Tmobile sim. You only have 5 tries to do this. So as for your first Atrix I believe it is already locked permanently to ATT. Dont ruin your second Atrix.

Well I found that if you push #073887* in the dialer it will actually prompt you for the unlock code. I tried this with NO sim in at first and that is when it said it was unsuccessful. However late last night I inserted my ATT SIM back in and tried again just for ****s. Entered in #073887* and typed the unlock code and viola, it worked. Interesting information for anyone who wants to unlock there Atrix WITHOUT another carriers SIM!
But back to my original issue. I wouldn't mind if the original atrix was locked to ATT, at least I would still be able to use it. The problem is that it wont work with ANY SIM. My thoughts is that it is a glitch and locked the phone to... nothing?
To make matters worse I emailed cellunlocker.net explained the issue and they said they thought if they requested a carrier unlock code it would work. Paid the 20 and 10 minutes later they sent me the same unlock code ATT had provided. Now the hassle of obtaining a refund.
are you selling the phone?

Yea. Both.
you have to use a *different* sim card than your regular carrier uses (ex - I'm on AT&T, so i used a Boost Mobile Sim to unlock my Atrix) You cannot use YOUR sim to sim-unlock.

Yes you can, by the method I explained in my previous post. It works!
There may be some confusion. The one im referring to (the original ATRIX) will not unlock with an ATT sim, a TMOB sim, a verizon SIM, or even a Costa Rican SIM. NO matter WHAT the SIM is in the "original" phone it always prompts me for a SIM unlock password. Like I said I believe it to be a glitch, intending to lock it to the ATT SIM but in reality it locked it to NO SIM.
So to restate.
YES you can unlock an ATT Atrix with only an ATT SIM in the phone using the method I explained. ( I did it with the phone in my hand right now)
and
NO my original Atrix will not unlock regardless of SIM installed or method.
i will send you a p.m with my offer
Just out of curiousity did you ever set up the sim card lock feature in the location and security settings. It will ask you for the unlock code every time you turn your phone on...shot in the dark here....

Also, since Verizon doesn't give out unlock codes, is there anyway to get my phone unlocked myself so I can use a prepaid sim when i travel abroad? Thanks, any hlep would be appreciated!

It's microSIM. Don't know about unlocking it.
I've heard mixed news on the unlocking process. I've heard if you pressure them for the unlock code they will give it to you. (tell them you are going out of country etc). I've also heard that they don't give them out. (which I don't believe because people have received them before). Other than that, there are companies that charge you $15 and they'll send you the unlock code.

I got off the phone with Verizon Global Support and apparently the DI4G is not locked and you are free to use a 3rd party sim card. Same is true for Droid RAZR and MAXX.. can someone confirm this? I do not actually have the handset.
I read the same thing but with the question posted here I figured it wasn't true.
From the GSM thread in this section:
Brooose said:
I was curious because I heard that the Droid Incredible 4G has a GSM radio in it so I did an experiment. I used a T-mobile micro SIM. I used the 4GLTE switch app for the Thunderbolt to access the hidden menu and I changed the radio mode to one that included GSM/W-CDMA. I popped in my T-mobile SIM and, presto, I got a T-mobile signal. I tested and I was able to make and receive calls and text messages. I had to manually set the APN for data to epc.tmobile.com and now I have EDGE data. I am sure an AT&T Sim will get HSPA+. The GSM appears unlocked now but hard to access. I am afraid, however, that once Verizon releases the update to make GSM roaming available, that it will be locked. Anyway, for now, you can pop in a GSM SIM and use your phone native.

yes you can
VZW has unlocked the majority of there 4gLTE smart phones. It is a new thing they just started doing to get a bigger hold on the global market that att has had for the longest time. So if you have a VZW 4g LTE phone and you are planning on going out of country all you have to do is call customer care, and ask them about the support and they will set you up with either a global SIM or you could use a prepaid SIM purchased in the country you are traveling to. I am a customer service rep at a local call center in Utah, we just had training on this subject last month.

Not sure how anyone can help you here. If you're not a Verizon customer then Verizon can't unlock them for you. Not sure what their policy is on unlocking 3g phones either.
Update: Pulled this from the web.
Verizon has confirmed (here and here) they WILL unlock the SIM on the iPhone 4S, allowing for use of local SIM cards while traveling abroad (no word yet on whether this will allow for use on AT&T and T-Mobile.) This is different than the jailbreak unlocking method; SIM unlocking through Verizon is permanent and will not affect your warranty in any way.
1. Meet the following requirements:
* Must be a Verizon Wireless customer.
* The iPhone 4S being unlocked must be active on a Verizon Wireless line of service.
* The line of service must be active at least 60 days.
* The line of service must be in good standing for the past 60 days.
* Only one SIM Unlock per line every 10 months.
If you don't meet one or more of the above requirements, call anyway. You may still get lucky.
2. Insert a foreign SIM into the SIM card slot on the side of your phone (only required to confirm that the unlock is successful.)
3. Call 1-800-711-8300 (Verizon Global Support) and ask the representative for a SIM unlock. Occassionally a representative may not know exactly what you are referring to; make sure you are not transferred to a different department. You are in the right place. Explain that they should have a walkthrough on how to do this, and that it allows for the use of local, non-Verizon SIM cards while traveling abroad.
4. Get confirmation from the rep that the unlock has been applied to your account, then check your phone to make sure it recognizes your SIM and can connect (if successful it will roam on AT&T, assuming you are calling from the USA.) You will NOT see an unlock confirmation in iTunes as that is for a factory-applied unlock only.
5. Enjoy your new unlocked iPhone 4S!

Would be really hit and miss for someone here to do that. The 4S is a 3g phone, activating it on our lines would require someone to go in store and get a sim swap. And even then, with the rules posted above, they probably still wouldn't do it.

Nope you don't need a sim swap. Just need to put the MEID of my device on your line. Once you do that my device gets 'active' on your line and then a call need to be made to VZW international dept or a live chat can be done, telling them to unlock the device for international use.
While you do the device swap on your line they may ask you to put the data plan on iPhone 4s which is mandatory to have. Ofcourse, I'll be more than happy to pay any expense.

Thats understood. But putting a 3g device on your line, deactivates the 4g LTE card. They cannot be reactivated, you have to go in store to get a new LTE card.

I have an HTC Rezound, and I'd heard it was unlocked.
I'm abroad in the UK (Scotland) but when I put in an international sim card it says the sim card is unrecognized, and I can't get any signal but I can turn on mobile network I just can't access it (no signal). I messed with the APNs (using my network in the UKs suggested settings) but I can't seem to get it to function.
I know that the phone itself says it only offers CDMA and LTE but I was wondering if there was a sneaky way to get to the GSM capabilities of the phone that aren't in the menu.
I tried

and when I hit the final hash tag the phone just acts like I just opened the dialer app

I don't know about the Rezound, but on our phone, since the latest update, you could change the setting under Settings -> Call -> Preferred Network to Global. There's also an option for GSM/UMTS.

Try something like SWITCHIT - 4G LTE TOGGLE -- it fires a different intent that gets you to the magic phone info page that *#*#4636*#*# is supposed to send you to.
On my Inc 4G, this lets me use AT&T's network in the US (with an appropriate sim). I haven't tried it abroad.
I tried it abroad. No restrictions. 2.17.605.2.710RD is needed

Can all T-Mobile HTC One's be S-OFFed for use on AT&T network ?

So my ultimate goal is to buy a used HTC One for use on AT&T network. And for some weird reason, all the used HTC One's in my area are T-Mobile and AT&T ones are hard to come by. For me to use a T-Mobile HTC One on AT&T's network, I understand that I need to gain S-OFF and change the CID (correct me if I'm wrong). So I was wondering unlike T-Mobile HTC One M8's (where only some phones can be S-OFFed), is it possible to obtain S-OFF on all T-Mobile M7 phones using Rumrunner method (or any other method) ?
Another question I have is looking at the network specs, I think I should be able to use T-Mobile's variant on AT&T network with full capabilities (4G LTE, 3G, 2G, etc, etc). Please let me know if that is indeed possible.
EDIT: Ignore my last question about whether AT&T network will work on T-Mobile's HTC One. I found the answer to that, by doing some searching in the forums
Appreciate all your thoughts and suggestions. Thanks!!

It has nothing to do with being S-OFF To use a T-Mobile HTC One on AT&T, you need to have the phone SIM Unlocked. This is completely different from being bootloader unlocked or S-OFF. You can try to get T-Mobile to give you the SIM Unlock code, or you can purchase a code from different resources online. When you get that code, you put in the AT&T SIM, the phone will pop up with a dialog where you enter the unlock code, and you're done. The phone will now work on AT&T. You'd just need to enter the AT&T APN information in the settings.
Now, if you want to flash it with the AT&T stock ROM, then yes, you'd need to S-OFF and unlock the bootloader, but that is only necessary if you don't want to run the T-Mobile ROM (they're both the same save for the carrier-specific apps).

Thanks Fuzi0719! Appreciate your reply. Now the reason I ask if S-OFF is possible or not is because, T-Mobile will unlock it only if you have their service for 40 odd days. Also, I really don't want to pay for any unlock services (guess being a college student makes me a cheapskate ). So my third option would then be S-OFFing right ? That's why I wanted to make sure all T-Mobile M7's can be S-OFFed (unlike the M8's where only some phones can be S-OFFed using Firewater method).

You're still not understanding the difference between S-OFF and SIM Unlock. Just because your phone gets S-OFF does NOT make it SIM Unlocked. You might be S-OFF but it will still be SIM locked to T-Mobile. SIM Unlocking and S-OFF are completely different things, one does not affect the other. If you want to use the T-Mobile phone on AT&T, it MUST BE SIM Unlocked, whether by T-Mobile or from getting the code from somewhere else. There is no way around that.
If you are not a customer of T-Mobile, but you purchased a T-Mobile phone, they will provide you the unlock code for free as long as the phone is not reported stolen or was sold while still owed money to T-Mobile. T-Mobile will look at the IMEI number and if it is "in the clear", they will give you the unlock code.
EDIT: Just to clarify, even if you S-OFF, change the CID to the AT&T model, and use the AT&T RUU to flash the firmware and system to the AT&T ROM, if you do not get the SIM Unlock code, the phone will still not work with the AT&T SIM. There is no way around that but to get the unlock code from either T-Mobile or another service. I got my unlock code from unlockcode247.com for the huge price of $3.70. If you can't afford to shell out less than $4 for the code, you can't afford a smartphone, especially at the prices AT&T charges for service.

@SteelH or @Deathsnuggle are you able to dump some partitions for me? You are the only people that I have found that is Sim Unlocked on Sprint.
I have successfully found the partition for GSM devices that contains the Sim Lock information using my AT&T M9. I am now trying to unlock my Sprint M9 (as I do not live in USA).
See more at this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/sim-unlock-method-t3143333
Thanks in advance
