gogolie/gigilie proudly presents:
ECHOE "POP" ROM V49 LOLLIPOP TOUCHWIZ 5.01 PORTED FROM I9505 Shoutout to @friedrich420 and the Echoe Team thanks for allowing me to bring your ROMs to VZW and any US S4.
Notes about release: This is the 1st public release of the port some bugs may exist but none have been found. To install any of my new ROMs you'll need my upgrade packages available in individual tars or a collective .rar that you unpack before flashing in Odin they're found here. Along with my usual WiFi fix for VZW and other helpful Lollipop files. Instructions for this release are very specific and I expect no deviation. Failure to follow instructions and pending disaster and questions on how to recover or install will be disregarded and ignored. This ROM uses an Aroma Installer and isn't compatible with any version of FlashFire. TWRP, CWM or Safestrap should install this just fine.

Installation Instructions:
Assuming your starting from NC2-NC5-NG6-NK1 with Safestrap or TWRP as your usual custom ROM flashing recovery. Open .zip from Install option. Flash the ROM. When ROM install is complete reboot to Download mode connect phone to PC and flash my CustomROM_Upgrade_Lollipop_VZW_wNK4-NoSys-gogolie.tar in Odin on your PC. Your upgrade/install is now complete. Odin will restart your phone and you'll be presented with a Safestrap option if using SS clear the option 3-4x before the ROM will boot. Feel free to remove or uninstall Safestrap once ROM is loaded. Note - the initial load takes nearly 20mins! So... patience.
If wishing to install from an already rooted OC1 phone or similar 5.01 S4 you'll need to flash the Downgrade tar (unless using another S4 variant or MDK that has TWRP or Custom Recovery options then you'd follow the 1st procedure and ignore the Odin flashing portion and just flash your favorite Custom Kernel recommended is AEL or KT) but only after installing Safestrap 3.75 and busybox. Personally, I'd install Safestrap on the Phone then press restart to recovery while holding Vol Down this will bring up the Download Mode Screen. Now flash the Downgrade. The phone continues into Safestrap where you'll flash the ROM. Then Restart again to Download Mode and flash the Re-Upgrade and now your finished.
ROM Download: VZW - V49 pr1
Enjoy!
Feel free to thank or donate in order to continue ROM development for the phone
Many thank you's to @friedrich420 he does a fantastic job developing these!

muhahahaha

yes you may need to flash 5.0 modem too however I haven't been able to test this with MDK yet. let me know how it goes?
I may have forgot to mention but it should flash stock kernel 5.0 if you choose the VZW option from aroma installer. you can try that or flash custom kernel. you could also choose the Other S4 option and it will avoid installing VZW stock apps that aren't really necessary for MDK anyway

Where can I download the 5.0 modem?

2 questions a year ago I gave away this phone to someone. It has been running 4.4.2 rom.
#1 does it have Polish language?
#2 if I were to factory reset etc.. flash this rom, is flashing the .tar in odin really needed to install this rom? can't I just simply flash it ?
If I was to install it:
#1 flash in twrp (safestrap)
#2 go into download mode and flash using odin the .tar file
#3 do factory reset, wipe cache etc..
does that sound right?

Since this is essentially a completely custom ROM and not a variant of the stock OC1, is XPosed safe to use on this or will it bootloop?

unable to boot?
unable to get past safestrap screen on NC2 bootloader using safestrap 3.72

After following the instructions to a T, I am stuck on a black screen after boot. I have a status bar, and the power menu works but I don't have anything else. Any reason as to why this is happening?

Which slot do we use in Odin to flash the upgrade/downgrade files?
Alright so I tried it on 5.0.1 and it won't work because I can't install safestrap. I tried using Safestrap 3.75 from https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95832962473398834 but it doesn't seem to install after I open up the app and click install recovery, basically the Safe System stays as Not installed and the reboot to recovery option stays greyed out. I tried going to download mode and flashed the downgrade in the AP slot but it just soft bricks at the Galaxy S4 black screen.

Seemed to have figured it out. Followed the instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-verizon/general/safestrap-t3097741 and installed that safestrap version and selected the enable su at boot in supersu. I skipped the part about flashing the nk1 kernel. Then I rebooted to download mode, flashed the downgrade file posted by gogolie above, booted into safestrap, flashed the rom, booted back into download mode, flashed the reupgrade file, then rom booted up after bypassing the safestrap screen by clicking continue 3x. Rom took 15-20 minutes to load but it's fine so far. Using tethering and getting the rom set up now.

i could also test on mdk bootloader

5.0 modem link would be helpful to me as well......
I am curious to test on MDK as well but wanted to get working on my secondary device first which is on NC2 bootloader and currently use MDK device on Safestrap RLS21 as it works the best with my galaxy gear. I have in the past used echo and loved it as well as it also worked well with galaxy gear which is why I really would like to try this out on one of my devices.

yes in a nutshell if your safestrap. however I didn't have to do any wipes and brought with my data from 4.4.2 a few times using this method and this ROM. If you run into any FCs well then yeah FReset and Wipe a few times
but theres a big difference in TWRP and Safestrap bro if you have TWRP that'd mean your on MDK bootloaders and you'd be fine with just flashing ROM and installing 5.0 custom firmware. the odin image would be something you wouldnt ever flash if your an MDK user. Most MDK users know to avoid bootloaders / non-hlos files as they'll lose their MDK bootloaders. But if your Safestrap then yes you flash the ODin image. in either Odin or Flashfire. I recommend Odin or you might lose warranty or get the goofy broken lock startup screen. And no this is a US release. However if you know what your doing at all with android MODs making your own custom MOD to add any language would be easy. Take a flashable /system .zip remove contents and add in /sipdb/LanguageOfChoice and /VODB/LanguageOfChoice files then flash. You'd be pulling those language files from an International ROM as Verizon doesnt come with Polish language as an option.

Chad the easiest way I can tell you on howto get the Modem is download my WiFi Fix and open up the .zip on a PC delete the nhlos file and flash I'm sure one exists somewhere maybe muniz or someone popped one online? I'm fairly confident your gear will react well to echoe. but you cannot be on NC2 as much as I love the bootloader myself... You'll need to flash the Odin package on your non-MDK phone. No worries this is not the full OTA and you can fully downgrade every single file back to NC2 when your done! No worries bro I methodically tested this before releasing the method. I also created a thread in General section detailing the process a bit more

GOOD WORK MAN glad to hear a success story. If safestrap wouldn't install it was possibly missing busybox. I tested installing on 5.0 and it works fine altho you cannot reboot into it successfully unless you flash my downgrade file as mentioned.

Was able to successfully get the rom installed and setup. However I cannot send texts. I can receive text, can call and use mobile data though. If you need I can upload a logcat or something later.

He lives in Europe and I will be visiting him in like 2 months that's why I want to prepare my self and I think there is TWRP with safestra 3.75 I think?
So first I flash the rom or the odin image? thanks and sorry for bothering you

I'm confused. You have viper4android pre-installed but it can't work. =( I got excited when I saw that.

It works fine for me as far as the phone's internal speaker goes. I haven't had a chance to test headset or Bluetooth just yet.
Is anybody else having the text sending issue? =/

[HOWTO] NC5 4.4.2 Root Method - Success

Original Thread for GS5
Thanks to developer @geohot, I was able to easily and successfully root my phone, here is the method. Should work with an 4.4.2 with a kernal build before Jun 3, 2014
1: On your phone go to towelroot.com
2: Click the image to download tr.apk

}
3. Install the apk
4. Run the apk and click make it ra1n, Device will reboot
5. After Reboot download Superuser from the play store
The reset was copied from @npjohnson so credits to him!
Note: SafeStrap doesn't work with encryption turned on (disabled by default). If you don't know if you don't have encryption on/your phone isn't a business phone (in which case you shouldn't be doing this!!!) then you most likely don't have encryption on!!
6. Use this app to change your SELinux mode to "Permissive" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mrbimc.selinux, this is required to use SafeStrap
7. Install SafeStrap 3.72 APK from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2448925, NOT 3.71 FROM THE VERIZON THREAD!!! Then click install in the SafeStrap App
8. Flash http://download.chainfire.eu/448/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99r5.zip, this step is NOT OPTIONAL, without this file, your SU Binaries will not update!!! (This is important!)
Normal Method
6. Download http://download.chainfire.eu/448/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99r5.zip
7. Use ES File Explorer https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop and unzip the file
8. Open the /common folder in the unzipped file, and copy the SuperUser.apk to the /system/app/ folder in the root of the phone, confirm any SuperUser Access requests at this point
9. Reboot
10. Open SuperSU and under the settings tab, update your SU Binary
11. Profit
TWEAKS
(Optional)
12. Flash http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23487008491962487 in SafeStrap to enable wifi tethering
13. Use https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bitcubate.root.busybox.complete to update to the newest version of BusyBox (The more popular BusyBox apps wouldn't work for me/ didn't have the newest version)
SAFESTRAP NOTES/HOW TO
- We CANNOT just flash a custom recovery, our bootloader is locked, and won't be unlock in the foreseeable future, we have to use SafeStrap instead
- To flash a ROM, reboot the phone, and click the menu button during boot up to get to SafeStrap, go to "Mount" ==> Check /System, leave the others checked
Then go back to the menu, go to "Wipe" ==> /System and swipe to wipe, you do not have to wipe /data, but it is strongly recommended (But this WILL wipe your data!!!)
The go back to menu, click "Install" select you ROM's .zip file AND SuperSU 1.99v4.zip to be safe
- You cannot use ROM Slots because this version of SafeStrap is made for the ATT S4, because of that we have some incompatibilities, you can only install to the "Stock" Slot
- BEWARE of flashing a Custom ROM and wiping /system, because if wipe /system, YOU ARE ERASING SAFESTRAP, if you flash a ROM that doesn't boot/is incompatible, you will have to ODIN back to stock!!!
- On a similar note, don't just flash a new ROM over your current ROM without wiping /system, as "dirty" flashing never ends well
- Most ATT SafeStrap 4.4.2/3 ROM work on the Verizon version, just a matter of testing them!!!
ROMS THAT ARE CURRENTLY COMPATIBLE WITH SAFESTRAP 3.72
Pre-Rooted 4.4.2 - Removes BloatWare stuff and implements the features from the International version that Verizon removed http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407590564
This rom may be illegal as creator used other peoples work without permission. Google Edition ROM - Google Edition ROM that IS compatible with SafeStrap, although not everything works... I know it says ATT, but I have tested and it works on verizonhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2767026[/B]
BlackBox - An AOSP themed ROM that keeps many Samsung features, just google "BlackBox ROM S4 for a list of features/screenshots http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358541454
HyperDrive RLS 16.1 - TouchWiz S5/Note 3 with many awesome baked in features http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2301724
Purified ROM - AOSP Themed with custom toggles http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2759811
gDux - Highly Customized TouchWiz/AOSP, hard to explain, but really cool!!! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2759786
Blue Chrome Edition - Googlie made this.... I don't know anything about it, wanna describe it @googlie? http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407588272
PhoeniX ROM V8.0.1 - Strongly tweaked ROM based on TouchWiz, again just google "PhoeniX ROM S4" for description/screenies http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358541455
FoxHound ROM - Same case as above, just google "FoxHound ROM S4" for description/screenieshttp://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23487008491966537
Baja ROM - AOSP/TouchWiz Hybrid http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2696872
Echoe ROM - First 4.4.2 TouchWiz ROM made for out phone, very stable/stock-ish with some added features http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2702592
This is a link to @googlies downloads folder in case anybody wants it, there are some work in progress ROMs and ROM backups (.rar files,) you can check out in there, to use those just unRAR them into you SafeStrap folder on you SD Card, and then restore the backup in SafeStrap
HOW TO BOOT TO RECOVERY/DOWNLOAD MODE
Stock Recovery Mode = Hold Volume Up + Home Button + Power until it buzzes, then release the power button
Download/ODIN Mode = Hold Volume Down until it buzzes and when prompted push volume up to accept
SafeStrap Recovery = "Reboot to Recovery" buttoning the SafeStrap app does not work, instead turn the phone off and turn it back on, then push the menu button after the Samsung Screen goes away
Note - If you see a "Samsung Custom" screen with an unlocked padlock, it doesn't mean you have an unlocked bootloader!!! Don';t get your hopes up, it just means that the phone is customized software size
ODIN GUIDE
ODIN is a program used to return Samsung phones to stock, it provides many ways to restore the different partitions of the phone;
F. Reset Time - Doesn't ever hurt anything, usually recommended/necessary, but I am not completely sure what it does?
Auto Reboot - Check unless you plan on flashing multiple files before reboot (not recommended)
PIT File - Necessary when completely repartitioning the phone, in most cases will wipe the whole phone clean (excluding @googlies/@Surge1223s guide to downgrade from NC5), it is a partition table template. Comes in the form of a .PIT file.
BL (Called Bootloader in older versions of ODIN) - Restores Bootloader, don't jack with this unless you know what you are doing, you cannot flash any bootloader lower than the on you are currently on! Ex. NC5 ==> MDK won't work, there are some small exceptions like @googlies NC5 ==> MK2 Downgrade, this was only possible due to the NC2 leak that allows downgrades. These files must be signed by Samsung. Comes in the form of a .tar file
AP (Called PDA in older versions of ODIN) - Restores to /System, doesn't Wipe it, just overwrites if necessary. Comes in the form of a .tar file
CP - (Called Phone/Modem in older versions of ODIN) - Restores Modem, wipes it and overwrites with new version. Comes in the form of a .tar file
CSC - (Called Cache in older versions of ODIN) - Restores to /Cache, wipes it and overwrites with new version. Comes in the form of a .tar file
UMS - I am unsure... Anyone?
ODIN 3.09 - Stock ODIN program, used in ALL cases except downgradeshttps://www.dropbox.com/s/b1kjainbic4iloo/Odin_v3.09.zip
ODIN 3.10 - made by @googlie I believe? Used in his guide for downgrading http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407587822
NC5 No-Wipe and Full-Wipe Tars - No-Wipe (Use in most cases) will leave your data in tact but restore /system to stock, Full-Wipe restores everything to stockhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2735172
MK2 No-Wipe and Full-Wipe Tars - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578209
MDK Full-Wipe Tar (If anyone has a link to a No-Wipe, please post it) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2289325
HOW TO RUN 4.3 ROMS IF ON NC5/NC2
This is made for NC5 phones, but will also work on NC2 and allow you to retain the NC2 Bootloader. If you don't know if you are on NC2, THEN YOU ARE NOT, very few people are on NC2, and those that are are there because they know what they are doing (hopefully).
If you want to run 4.3 ROMS in SafeStrap unRAR this file and place it in the AP slot of ODIN (credits to @googlie) http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358537591, then reboot to stock recovery and wipe data and cache, then reboot and use SafeRoot to Root http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2565758 and install SafeStrap 3.71 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2441441 and finally flash your 4.3 ROM found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2630040
If you have issues, flash the different fixes (Wifi, Voice, Data, etc.) from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=51955929 in SafeStrap, READ WHAT THEY ARE BEFORE FLASHING
SAMSUNG KNOX
To disable/remove KNOX from stock ROMs:
Download: To Disable: Titanium Backup https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup
To remove completely use RootAppDelete https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=zsj.android.uninstall, use Pro mode within the app when it asks
Open the app that you downloaded above (either one depending on your choice) Tap the search button and type ‘Knox’ and you’ll get the list of all the files named as knox.
Freeze/Remove (Pro-Mode) the following using titanium backup/RootAppDelete, to find them just search "KNOX"
Delete/Freeze
com.sec.enterprise.knox.attestation
com.sec.knox.eventsmanager

That will happen occasionally when the file being scanned has to do with rooting a phone. Simply because rooting a phone exploits the system which is what an antivirus is supposed to detect. You gotta depend on what other users say. If its on XDA your more than likely OK.

ATT-KTU8P-N900AUCUDNL1 LIMITS
SafeStrap Recovery will not directly work on 4.4.4 Rom's
SafeStrap workaround is to Odin install NC2 kernel then Odin install Nl1 kernel to boot NL1 when done with Recovery
SafeStrap Recovery Installng Proceder of 4.4.4 NL1
1. If your new to Samsung, Coming from Iphone or Never installed a custom rom please go here and read and learn about your AT&T Note 3 and also search here for related information you need.
2. You must have safestrap recovery installed.
Coming from any Firmware newer than NC2 you need to go here and downgrade
3. Download and copy ATT_Stock_KitKat_N900AATTCNL1_Rooted_Deodexed.zip or ATT_Stock_KitKat_N900AATTCNL1_Rooted_Odexed.zip to you external or internal sdcard.
4. Boot into SafeStrap Recovery and do a Backup of your Current Rom. If you want and your currently running NC2 after your backup you can create a slot 1 and install your NC2 backup there so you can Use your current NC2 for what ever reason later.
5. Make sure your on stock slot (4.4.4 rom's will not run on the other slots because safestrap is not compatable with the newer 4.4.4 kernel) Do a factory reset. ( not doing a factory reset will mix UserData settings and cause FC of apps or cause bootlooping) also when restoring your app's some app's do not work well if you restore data info with them (so you may loose progress, like game levels and score's etc..)
6. Install your ATT_Stock_KitKat_N900AATTCNL1_Rooted_Deodexed.zip or ATT_Stock_KitKat_N900AATTCNL1_Rooted_Odexed.zip
7. When rom is finished installing DO NOT PRESS REBOOT, back out to main menu then press reboot so you get the download button. press download and use odin to install NL1 firmware (3 files BL bootloader,AP kernel and CP modem) skip the recovery you do not need to install that.
8. It is recomended to skip through any setup of accounts, let rom settle about 10 minutes.
9. Go to settings and turn wifi on, then Reboot and settup your phone.
Thanks to @muniz_ri for Modem install files and his root keep files and guides
Thanks to @Walter.White for learning skills, tricks and his firmware thread NL1 odin Firmware files
Thanks to @Hashcode for safestrap and other high tech help
Thanks to XDA for providing this these threads

You don't have to install safestrap. Odin nc2 kernel ,boot into safestrap then dirty install so you do not loose your apps then back out to main menu hit reboot then download. Install with Odin NL1 kernel

Thanks for quick response ... I have TMobile Note 3 SM-N900T with 4.4.2 Bootloader and Modem and ROM with Phil CWM recovery.
I flashed the Deodex rooted file from OP. The flash was fine. After phone started I heard Att sound. I also saw menu and back keys light up like after we clear dalvik. However screen remained blank. I tested it for 5 minutes then rebooted to recovery and restored my nandroid backup

you may also need the overlay lib files and the hw file hwcomposer.msm8974.so from a TMobile rom

Instructions for flashing ANY custom/stock Lollipop via recovery

I wanted to give you all an early set of instructions on properly moving to Lollipop. Being that I have already been through the trials & errors of this subject with the note 4, i wanted to give you all a head start to save you a bunch of time scratching your heads wondering why your stock ota/odin flash is buggy. It seems that the stock Lollipop tar's don't wipe everything especially data. So when you go to Odin the stock Lollipop tar without first wiping from your current custom recovery, you WILL have left over data which causes some issues. ALWAYS wipe everything per usual (including the factory reset option) BEFORE you odin the stock Lollipop tar. It's also been noticed that the Lollipop ota hasn't been nearly as stable as the official rom tar. So even if you took the official ota, I would recommend following these simple instructions for the best results. If you have never rooted your device then you can disregard otherwise keep reading. For the BEST trouble-free experience do the following.
***First you will need to download and copy to your sd-card the custom/stock rom zip*** (Custom/Stock ROMs are coming soon!)
1. Wipe everything several times in current custom recovery (including factory reset option) (TWRP recommended)
2. Odin the official lollipop tar.
3. Setup rom per usual. (At this point if you want to remain on the stock ROM you can stop here)
4. Enable usb debugging.
5. Reboot to download mode and odin the compatible cf-auto-root for your device.
6. Odin latest TWRP compatible with your device.
7. At this point you will be ready to flash a stock or custom Lollipop rom.]
Get ready. Roms will be coming soon... you will need to know this important info before you start flashing.
Thank you for the great information. May I ask that you please fix your font colors?

If you are going to flash a Lollipop based ROM, then yes Odin the OC5 update first. You will need to re-root and flash another custom recovery but it will be well worth it!

interesting! I have no issue doing it, if that's the req. easy enough to do. (you can see i've been here for a while)
But can you (or someone like @tx_dbs_tx ) explain why?
(my point being, if I haven't yet odin'd the stock tar or gone the route to receive the OTA already, it seems redundant to wait for tx_dbs_tx to put out his rom at this point. since being req'ed to odin and reroot will get me the same as what I would be about to flash... make sense? lol)

If you are currently on any version of KitKat you MUST either take the official Lollipop ota update OR wipe everything in your current recovery and Odin flash the official Lollipop rom tar. you MUST do one or the other before flashing any custom/stock rooted Lollipop rom or you WILL have a non booting phone. If you simply fash a Lollipop rom with a KK bootloader & carrier partitions, it will be a no go and you will have to start over by odin'ing the stock Lollipop rom tar. Lollipop brings a lot of new things and most importantly there afe partitions that must be written to your phone that are required. Simply flashing a custom or even a stock rooted Lollipop ROM WILL NOT write these important partitions. Only the official rom tar will do this as well as the regular ota. So no, the stock rooted rom i'm working on will not properly upgrade your phone to Lollipop. If you plan to move to Lollipop (which i highly recommend due to major system optimizations, features, etc) then go ahead and prep by flashing the official Lollipop rom tar using the wipe methods i explained above. Trust me it will save you a lot of grief. I hope this makes sense.
Edit: I need a couple of people to help me troubleshoot and test the stock rooted lollipop rom i'm trying to finish. I have one person helping me but his work schedule interferes. If you have some basic knowledge on how to flash, use root explorer and also know how to extract and zip a rom, please pm me and i'll give you the files and info you need. I'd like to help you all get a couple of stock rooted roms going so others can then have something to work with for future themes, roms, etc.
i would be happy to help

I can test a rom. I am currently working on building my own and have been failing. I finally got everything deodexed, but building a rom that boots is another story. TWRP backup really messed things up. Have been using Odin to flash the official stock tar about 5 times now to try and get to a clean base. I found a DevBase in 9005 thread that I am testing now. Would love to get something going on this phone to help others (make a minimal devbase for others) since I haven't found a kitchen that works. ArchiKitchen does not work for our device, at least not without some editing
UPDATE: So I finally got it to flash, time to cut down on some of the extraneous files that won't be needed. I'll probably throw it together and post a thread for people to use as a base, just add their own stuff. I'm not looking at releasing a ROM just yet, just a base for people to build on.
I can still test yours and see how it goes. There was an issue with mine where it hung on first boot, booted into recovery and reboot system, all is fine.

thank you for taking the time to explain. since I had a kid a little over a year ago, I've been out of the loop. (barely time to flash things, nonetheless read the tech details like I used to...) I knew LP had a lot of changes under the hood (art, etc), but was unaware of the partition changes.
I'd like to toss you a bit of a donation for your stockROMs when they come out. your time here is appreciated.

4. Grant root access for NC5flasher
5. After the app flashes the NC5 kernel tap the reboot button.
----This will reboot your device directly to Safestrap.
6. Backup or flash rom/mod/whatever.
----When coming from 4.4.x rom flash the OC1_firmware.zip to go to a 5.0.x rom.
7. Do NOT forget to flash the I545_OC1_Stock_KERNEL_SafeStrap-Flashable.zip afterwards.
----If you do forget you can always select recovery at the Safestrap splash screen.
8. Reboot system after flashing your preferred Lollipop kernel.
9. Profit!

To do this one would have to
1)Use Munix_ri's or gigilies method of upgrading in order to keep root, correct?
Or is there a way to root OC1 now??
Assumption is this will allow testing of Lollipop ROM's.

To my knowledge there is still currently no way to root OC1.
Requirements are you would need to be on rooted on lollipop using whatever method you prefer.
Whether it is muniz_ri, gigilies or any other future method to obtain root on OC1 does not matter.

Safestrap reboot menu in the app will not work.
Use NC5Flasher to flash the nc5 kernel.
After the kernel has flashed a button will pop up to select to reboot.
All tests have booted straight to safestrap after running the app.
Did you select flash in the NC5Flasher app after installing it?
Edit :
Also a slight bug with safestrap on lollipop is that the safestrap splash screen will show about 3-4 times before booting into lollipop.

I understand. Thanks for checking it out.
I just couldn't work with flashfire.
I had too many problems trying to flash things.
So this is what I found and decided to share. For those that prefer safestrap over flashfire.
Few questions what version of SS is ok to go from a rooted OC1 5.0.1 via the flashfire method? Also I want to install this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-verizon/development/rom-echoe-rom-v49-tw-lollipop-t3099930 but he says to flash the downgrade file he posted up but I am not sure of which slots to put it in on odin and if anyone could kindly give me some step by steps that would be great so I dont mess anyhing up. Thanks in advance.

The safestrap version is stated and linked in the op.
Help with gigilie echoe rom can be found in his thread.

This method will allow access to Safestrap for Verizon Lollipop OC1 users.
Based on @K-alz original thread
Requirements
Root Access
Latest Busybox
Safestrap-I545-KitKat-v3.75 Note: Safestrap can still be installed while currently running Lollipop 5.0.1
Downloads
NC5Flasher.apk MD5: 55cfb26535f7abe1c7b17fafac6e4dd8
I545_OC1_Stock_KERNEL_SafeStrap-Flashable.zip MD5: a072dd9d8920f8d71776a5a91729d4e8
No mirrors please. Thanks.
1. Download and install NC5Flasher.apk
2. Download and copy I545_OC1_Stock_KERNEL_SafeStrap-Flashable.zip to sdcard.
3. Run NC5Flasher and select flash.
4. Grant root access for NC5flasher
5. After the app flashes the NC5 kernel tap the reboot button.
This will reboot your device directly to Safestrap.
6. Backup or flash rom/mod/whatever.
7. Do NOT forget to flash the I545_OC1_Stock_KERNEL_SafeStrap-Flashable.zip afterwards.
If you do forget you can always select recovery at the Safestrap splash screen.
8. Reboot system after flashing the OC1 kernel.
9. Profit!
NOTICE: Safestrap backups of Lollipop are rather large. 5-7GB without compression. roughly 3GB with compression
NC5flasher.apk is not my own creation. This app was created by @benwaffle for the ATT Galaxy Note 3 (original thread) Thanks to him for his excellent app.
I only edited and recompiled it to accommodate our needs on the Verizon Galaxy S4.
I545_OC1_Stock_KERNEL_SafeStrap-Flashable.zip was created and scripted by @carl1961
Thanks to him for creating a zip that can flash a kernel in Safestrap.
I only modified it with our OC1 kernel.
NC5Flasher screenshot:
Bugs: Safestrap splash screen will show about 3-4 times before booting into your lollipop rom.

Ah. So you have. My bad. To be honest I skimmed your thread and noticed a few times of using Odin when flashing a custom rom.
I just don't care to be tethered to my pc when flashing.
The only difference I see is the fact that I used the nc5 kernel instead of nc2 and I am using Carl's zip file to reinstall the oc1 kernel instead of using Odin to restore it.
Well to each their own lol I just prefer this route.
Thanks.
FYI @gigilie his sole purpose of porting this is to make life easier on the average day user. Why go way back to nc2 when nc5 is more stable. With FlashFire still being in the beta stage we're working towards avoiding odin and FlashFire as much as we can. Which by doing this we have created a stable way for users to still be able to use Safestrap as they're recovery. But as he said to each their. As we are treating in uncharted waters with lollipop and Samsung art, the safer the method in flashing things the better.
Works great, it's nice not having to be tied to a PC. .thanks for the port
@klabit87, I also have a Verizon Galay S5, is it possible you can make this one for the S5?? I'm sure everyone in the S5 threads will be thrill!!! Thanks.

hey bud your one of the few ppl around thats had some app dev i havent kept up on my java so its almost become foreign to me again hadn't built an apk for years before my nc2flasher.apk but why can't we just infuse this process into SS? I tried using some scripts but i must not be calling the flashes at the correct times... I'd like to just infuse this all into SS have SS install the 2 kernels we need to a directory like /system/kernels/nk4 or ncx then call up a script to flash the files when we restart to safestrap from the APK and if the SS recovery mode isnt triggered have another script flash the lollipop boot was my initial idea before I found the work that ben had done for the kernel flasher .apks... Want to take this on with me? I'm doubting hash would mind hes moved on from it and I see a ton of SS hacked versions on XDA now.
@jam0688 its not necessary to use anything else... but i don't care klabit87 helped me with the wifi bypass back on 4.4.2... regardless I'd like to just argue your point that NC5 is more stable. It is NOT. However using this method we never actually boot the ROM from this firmware. Therefore all your arguments are nullified lol. NC2 is very stable but all we need to do is hook for Safestrap. We could use NG6, NK2, NC2,NC5 all will yield the same results a bootable Safestrap but unbootable ROM until lollipop kernel is flashed... I've been infusing this as an upgrade process into my ROM's for a while now so theres no need to flash the upgrade kernel. But theres no point or difference in having it reboot to safestrap with NC2 or NC5 because we never use the kernel to boot the ROM! (Duh) I know this because I tried and built copies of this for every stock kernel available. but appreciate your uninformed criticism I mean... I do believe It was me that 1st told people not to use FlashFire and to use safestrap and how and put out the 1st custom ROM etc... so why preach bs to the choir? rather than troll why not pickup a book or research and dev something to help the public like klabit87, Surge, muniz, reggie cheeks or one of the other developers for the phone have done. even if your not successful at least you didn't waste time by ill informing users and telling me i dont know what im talking about LOL and you wont look stupid to the users that actually know whats what or waste my time having to defend whats actually public knowledge when you make false claims and try to make me look like the douche

When i first decided to go back to using safestrap I looked into the source.
which was short lived when i came across the kernel flasher and the script to workaround the kernel flashing block in ss (if i remember correctly hash made it so you couldn't flash a kernel)
I was going to look into removing that block so i could flash the lp kernel....
Getting into safestrap from lp i never took the time to look into.
I will pm you what im thinking on that and we will see whats what.
But to answer, yeah I could take a stab at it.
I'm not very well versed in java or creating apks from the ground up but I can follow code well enough to make alterations to do what we want.

[RECOVERY LOCKED/AT&T S3 MINI NG3] Safestrap Recovery v4.03 TEST01 [2016-04-19]

AT&T SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 MINI (GOLDENLTEATT)
PLEASE READ READ READENTIRE OP
"ALL MAJOR WORK DONE BY HASHCODE SO GO GIVE HIM SOM THANKS.DO NOT POST ANY BUG OR ISSUE COUSED BY THIS RECOVERY IN ORIGINAL THREAD BY HASHCODE, POST HERE AND I WILL HELP YOU."
CURRENT PROJECT STATUS:
BETA v4.03-TEST01 (NG3)
WHAT IS SAFESTRAP?
Safestrap is a Bootstrap / Recovery for locked bootloader phones. The goal is to avoid touching your primary system (I'll call this "stock" system) and only flash or make large changes to another place on your phone that Safestrap treats as a "2nd system" (in this case, it's a series of virtual ROM slots located on the internal emmc area: "/sdcard"). Once installed, you will see a "Splashscreen" giving you the option to hit "menu" to enter recovery. The recovery portion of Safestrap is now based on TWRP 2.6.1.0 (a touch based recovery) and you can perform .zip installs, backups and restores here. The additional features I've added to TWRP are mostly located under the "Boot Options" menu:
Here you can create virtual ROM-slots (3-4 on the S3 due to partition size and internal space) for flashing ROMs. NOTE: The bigger you make the /data partition the less room you will have to make other ROM-slots.
You can activate a new ROM-slot by choosing the slot you wish to make active and then selecting the "Activate" button. Once active, you will see the "rom-slot#" up in the top of the screen shown in green. If you make the "stock" ROM active, then you can see it in the top shown in red.
Once a ROM-slot is active, all actions you would normally perform using TWRP are directed to that ROM-slot. For example, "Install" to flash a .zip, backup and restore.
HOW DO I INSTALL SAFESTRAP?
Requirement: Root
[NEW FOR v4.00+ KK Safestrap] Requirement:
-Uninstall old Safestrap application.
-busybox. Grab "Busybox" from the Play Store and run the installer.
Once installed, open up the Safestrap application, Agree to the disclaimer that you won't try to sue me and hunt me down with a rifle if you manage to break your phone..
Then use the "Install Recovery" button. You should see the current version down in the lower left corner of the window. And the "Status:" should say "Installed" when you're done.
From there you can reboot and you *should* see a new splash screen during the boot up. While this is showing you can enter Safestrap Recovery using the [ menu ] button.
INSTALL VIDEO by DMX: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RZI...e_gdata_player
HOW DO I ENTER RECOVERY?
During each reboot a splashscreen will be displayed showing whether the device is running a rom-slot or on the "Stock ROM".
Press the button shown on the screen to either enter "RECOVERY" or "CONTINUE" booting (or the hard button underneath each option).
HOW DO I UPGRADE SAFESTRAP?
Push the APK up to your sdcard.
Boot back into the "stock" rom-slot.
Open your old Safestrap app and use the "Uninstall Recovery" button
Browse to where you pushed the APK
Click on it and install like normal
Once installed, open the APK, Grant SU access, Use the "Install Recovery" button.
KNOWN ISSUES:
- Sometimes the installation doesn't work correctly. If you don't see the splashscreen after a rebooting. Install Safestrap again. (DEBUGGING THIS AS I GET TIME)
- Busybox is now required for the Safestrap APK to work correctly

WARNING: Safestrap is heavily modified to be "Safe" for your device. Do not download TWRP from their website and expect it to work the same way. Also TWRP does not support Safestrap, tho some issues that may come up will be TWRP dependant, please try and contact myself or look on the forums for your device for answers before hunting down TWRP people. They won't be able to help w/ Safestrap specific questions.

Nope, but you can take the stock ROM and debloat it.
Your youtube link is broken. That aside, gonna take a look at this soon. Got a used S3 Mini coming in the mail.
Will be nice to at least be able to debloat the stock rom on this phone. That's what I generally tend to do with the android phones I own. The Wifi issue concerns me though:

Does this only matter if I were to use a custom rom? If I just boot a debloated stock rom this is not an issue? Not sure where I'd put the modules either. Been awhile since I've done any custom rom stuff with Android. But safestrap is definitely a new thing as back in the day locked bootloader is generally a death nail for any chance of a custom rom....

I actually fixed the WiFi problem, to fix it you just need to add a couple of lines in the updater script

The latest rom is here....
Galaxy S3 Mini Lineage OS 14.1
Source Link: https://www.cyanogenmods.org/forums/topic/lineage-os-14-1-galaxy-s3-mini-android-7-1-rom/
Also to root.... I simply used king root. then once done I immediately used super-sume from google play to automatically remove kingroot and install SuperSU.
But I believe in this new rom you can simply enable developer options then in those settings you can turn root on and off whenever you want.
Not sure about this root option on this rom. If not just do the kingroot and super sume thing.

Sadly that rom is not compatible with the g730a variant of the Galaxy s3 mini. It has a locked bootloader so we are limited to stock based ROMs.

I was hoping that this is what safestrap was for. So we could run custom roms using the workwround for the boot loaader?
Am I wrong about what safestrap is for?

With safestrap you can run custom ROMs. But safestrap does not unlock the bootloader so we are limited to stock based custom ROMs(like debloated ROMs). It may be possible to Port a custom rom like aosp or cm to the g730a model but it's very unlikely. Even if the bootloader was unlocked the rom above is for a different s3 mini with a different processor so it would not be compatible and we would have to port a custom rom from scratch.
