Changelog & Bugs
Changelogs here:
https://plus.google.com/+AOSPAL/posts
Known Issues:
4k Recording sometimes doesn't save; Use 1080p instead
D2TW doesn't stick after reboot

Release Notes: https://plus.google.com/106020481530876935386/posts/eHP5T4dbU1i
Note that ROM doesn't come with SU, so you'll need to flash SuperSU for root. Also, for future releases since backuptool isn't working yet, you'll need to flash all packages (ROM, GApps & SU) again when an update is released
Also, D852 isn't available now due to build errors but it will be available next release.

Oh hell yeah, Paranoidandroid has been my favourite rom since I had the desire s all those years back, all my nexus devices have it and now my G3 couldnt be happier, will download once back home from work and give feedback on performance and stability
Update:
So far stable, have not come across any issues since clean install yesterday, haven't used much atm, however I will fully test as much as possible over the weekend
Day 1 verdict = D855 stable and smooth, currently no known issues atm, features are limited however this is a PA upgrade to 5.1.1 and they will implement more features over time
Day 2 = Stable, bluetooth issue grey out and unable to reactivate and a reboot was a fix but have not been able to reproduce, only issue is Immersive no option to choose immersive always on, and using third party fullscreen apps causes issues with home and back button. Battery lasting 9 hours good general use

Were based off of AOSP+CAF with a minimal amount of stuff from CM to get our devices working.

This is awesome! Can't wait to flash it away on my D852

Absolutely love paranoid! Welcome on g3

Great to see PA 5.1 for our device, I will be testing it tomorrow.
Checked source and it really looks like it has minimum amount of stuff from CM, so I can't wait to try it.

Really nice.Used to have PA on my desire s.
Glad to see you working on g3
Cheers

The best ROM. Congratulations. My lg gets a new life. strongly advise.

I agree that if we could have more information on what PA does include as features right now, it'd be great, since the project seems to be much less active than it used to...
I miss the Pie, the Halo, the Per-app-Dpi, where are the good features gone ?
And now, no layer anymore...

Only thing putting me off installing a custom ROM is the performance of the camera. If I install something like FV-5 will I get back to taking decent pictures that the hardware is capable of? Always found AOSP camera to suck.

Thanks for this lovely ROM. PA was my daily driver 2 years ago on my S4 and I don't have much complain about it the whole time. Can't wait to try it out once it reaches the stable status. Since it's AOSP based, I assume it should work nice with Furnace or the 777 kernel? My major concern regarding this ROM is the battery life and the kernel plays an important role how things run and what not. I would love to hear about the initial review of this wonderful piece of work. Thanks!

Paranoid rom for G3 amazing. i have many years paranoid roms to my old phones and now comes for G3 very good gratz. hop soon have pics and review for this rom

Hi,
I'm having problems with Bluetooth - the icons stays grayish instead of white. As a result I can't connect properly with my Moto 360.
I did a clean flash from cm12. Anyone having this issue too?
Any help appreciated, thanks.

I don't really see it stated anywhere, and if I just totally missed it, I apologize but how often do you guys do a build? I've got a d852 and a hankering to try this ROM out. I know it's impolite to ask for ETAs, but it's exciting to see official support!

Sorry if I'm being thick, but I have the 855, do I download 'bacon' or '850' or is there currently no build for the 855. Thanks

Porting Lollipop to the G2?

I know LG has confirmed Lollipop next year for the G2 but is it possible for Lollipop to be ported from another device? (Like the Nexus 5)
Or do we have to wait for LG to release some sort of source/kernal?
Just wondering
The G3 will get it by the end of this year, most likely we'll get a port from that

You sure about that? I mean I'm no code builder but I figured that would take a while, thatd be great if your right tho.
I'd definitely consider going AOSP Lollipop as its aesthetically pleasing. Never really liked AOSP Kitkat

My Shield Tablet is getting the Lollipop update this month, so it would be cool to keep the UI standardized between my G2 and that. A CM12 version of Lollipop would be nice, but I want a straight up AOSP version so bad! Nvidia's barely touched version of Android is way nicer after I rooted it and installed xposed compared to CM11. Perfection on the G2 would be if LG releases Lollipop for the G2 and someone did something like the de-Sensed ROM's on the HTC phones. Strip off the LG UI and keep the it pure Android, but with all the LG stuff under the hood so we still have good camera performance and less issues.

I've used Lollipop on my Nexus 5 since the first dev preview was released. ART results in a long first boot because it is compiling the runtime cache for each app. Every boot after that should be the same or better as Dalvik used to be. It is the same as it was on KitKat, with LRX21M the N5 boots in about 3-5 seconds. 5.0 gives crazy performance improvements, especially on older devices like the Nexus 10 (KitKat performance was okay at best). It will definitely be worth it.
Question is, how possible is it? I sold the G2 in April because of all the kernel issues and loki patches LG made. How unlocked is this device at this point? For me, AOSP ROMs had issues galore(GPS, freezing, etc.) because of the lack of source, and certain radios had loki patches in them(ZVA,ZVC etc.). Even ROMs were dropping support for the G2 due to kernel issues. Remember that the stock Google kernel CANNOT obtain root on Lollipop, a custom kernel is required, preferably with SELinux set to permissive. On Nexus that has been achieved because of the unlocked bootloader allowing for the flashing of .imgs. If the kernel needs to be in-line with LG source + bootloader, I highly doubt that root would be easy to obtain...
Basically, what is the status of the G2 at this point?

Nicely said. I don't have an option, though. Meh.
I think we should see how the G3 goes with rooting when Lollipop hits.
Yeah, that's been my experience while looking for stable custom Roms. It appears, g2 is best used as stock or sold (although I have the highest regard for all the devs who worked countless hours to bring us all the custom goodness on g2). But it appears most devs are moving to other platforms starting 5.0. I hate stock OS so much that selling the device looks to be my next best option, but there's just no clear winner\awesome device to push me over the edge (thanks google for ur 6 inch monster - now even the nexus is out).

I havent seen a single developer depart recently for 5.0 besides madhi i believe, though i wouldn't be surprised if he was working on some kind of port!

We have some core developers like @dorimanx and all the other cool cats who maintain huge multiplatform roms. I'm going to attempt porting lolli to the g2 right now. The repository is syncing, i have lg kitkat source and @dr87 has sources for porting roms within kitkat.
I can extrapolate and figure out how to rebase it on 5.0, but many developers will do so before me. Things arent that bad really for the G2, id say they are WAY better than they were 6 months ago.

Yeah, uh. It appears the second half of my post was cut out.
I'll just retype it here:
It's very possible. People can do what Cyanogen did with CM11. It's not very unlocked, really. Nothing has really changed since Loki was released. AOSP ROMs have been better recently, but the camera is pretty bad.
Everything is exploitable. Perhaps they'll figure out how to get out of the sandbox. Just look at iOS, for example.
Now, since since Lollipop kernel sources will likely be open, people can probably create a flashable zip of a Lollipop OTA and remove that part of the kernel that prevents rooting. People can always use the flash tool tip restore to an older version and then use AutoRec.

Android 5.1.1 vs 6.01 - AICP vs Omnirom vs CM

Hi,
I am now on 5.1.1 stock and ask myself is it worth to update to Android 6 ( Omnirom - AICP - CM)
I have following general questions:
Is Android 6 faster than 5.1.1 ( is Android 6 better for games) ?
Is in Android 6 any feature that is really much better than in Android 5.1.1 ?
How is your battery life with Android 6 (is there any difference) ?
What rom do you like more and why? (AICP,Omnirom,CM)
Thanks for your help.
Mr. Tom
Hello and thank you for using Q/A,
Android 6.0 is much faster than Android 5.1.1. I prefer AICP.
Kind reagrds

6.0.1 definitely is faster. The doze feature alone is worth the upgrade. And AICP has always been rock solid and polished accross all supported platforms. Now I just cant wait for an overclocking kernel for the manta on 6.0.1.
I know what I'm doing this weekend
It is faster. The battery life is amazing. I'm running OMNI 1206 and after 22hours idle still 100%. Based on GSam it was using 0.1/h. I like Omni because I don't care the extras CM brings. It has enough customization.
I have a similar question... haven't flashed anything since my S2 days, I had a look at the websites and I didn't really see what's the different features between AICP and Omni. CM has an OTA update option, right? Does either of these have something similar? And is either one more stable, or contains/doesn't contain any annoying bugs/glitches?
Taking pictures with camera with flash does not work on 6.0.1. Otherwise no other bugs are found. I believe AICP 6.x is running nightly builds with OTA, Omni is homebuilds and not nightly yet. I don't think there is a CM 6.x for manta yet.
Have been wondering this myself.
Been using Rastapop 5.1.1 for a couple of months, the performance has been top notch and the battery life and stability are incredible as well. Is 6.0.1 really that big of an upgrade? I already great amazing standby times with Rastapop, my tab stays on for weeks.
Might try out Omni (don't care much for customizations anymore) someday but for now I'm perfectly happy with Rastapop.

Wondering the same. Had a rather botched ROM from back in October. Think I'll try Omni now.
Oh just want to mention that after now starting to use Omni, it has the Pixel C nav buttons, which some think are a plus. I, on the other hand, thought it was botched after install. I don't think I can get used to new nav bar layouts after years of everything being in the middle.
(The Pixel C's nav buttons has back and home squashed into the left and the recents completely on the right. Which makes sense i guess if you are holding the tablet by its sides with your hands. However it would mean you can't reach anything else in the middle of the screen/without some difficulty/)
is ok to to update omni rom 5.1.1 nightly to 6.0 nightly via the built in updater

David Hayes made a Youtube-Video about: CM 13 on Nexus 10
Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MogmBvpXWRY
He gave me an answer about different roms for the Nexus 10:
As to AICP and Omnirom I an running AICP on my beast as the DD. I love Omni but I have to have my theme engine so that is the only reason I don't run it. I have tested it though and it is rock solid. If you are not that into themes and just like is bare back then Omni is a no brainer..lol. It's a great rom.
Now as dir AICP, it is running smooth as silk and my Manta hadn't felt this good in a long time. The only thing that would round this all out would be if DU built a MM build for our tablet. Now that would be a tough choice for me.

Best ROM based AOSP for OPX

With the Developer Release Android N are even more saddened for the my OnePlus X. Because it is still with Android 5.1.1
At this point, I will make the flash a ROM.
I looking for based AOSP... Which is the best? Mostly stable
Thank y
AOSParadox is out
I would recommend AOSParadox. It generally works great. Tri-state keys have not been implemented yet, but other than that it's a really great rom. I've been running it for a few days, and I'm really happy with it.

Exodus and CandySix lack CAF optimization. I personally like AOSParadox as its just AOSP with CAF optimizations. It's fully open source too. Exodus uses proprietary software. Haven't tried CandySix yet though.

The Best and Stable Custom Rom

Excuse me, I'm new here and this is the first time I ask something in the XDA Community. So I'm sorry if I have a bad English or question of a newbie...
I like to experience Custom Roms before. I tested it on my Oneplus One and experienced the Lineage OS (because Cyanogen is no more). I like Lineage OS, but I saw that Lineage OS is still an Unofficial build for Poco. and the downside of Lineage OS is the camera app (for my opinion).
So what I want to ask is what is the best and official custom rom for Poco F1? including the best android security, great developers that give update frequently and the best performance. I think that the Resurrection, Lineage, Pixel Experience and AOSP is the best candidate (because I love stock android). but can you tell me which one is the best among others? (frequent update and great community is what I'm searching for, at least the ROM can be fixed if there is a bug, and fast)
Thank you for your time.
disclaimer: i'm awaiting delivery of the device!!!
from what i've read, for full features you need to stick with MIUI sripped back/debloated, for now at least. there's miui.eu which is debloated or globe rom @ rom builder where it's based on the stripped back EU rom but some extra tweaks customised by us (by selecting expert mode and selecting what to keep/remove. further debloating may be required, can't check as i'm yet to take delivery of the device, but i'll go with globe until LOS is more accomplished. hope it helps
By far LineageOS 16!
Stable and solid build, and important for our device a well implemented notch.
No strange glitches, Bluetooth works better than stock miui and with audiofx a more dynamic sound over Bluetooth.
Have no experience with Pixel experience so far, nitrogen os seems to be nice to.
And carbon ofc

so theres a MIUI without bloatware you mean? is it affect the performance? i just upgrades to miui 10 global beta. and i must say, the only thing that exciting is you can adjust the call and media volume separately if you are playing games and simultaneosly calling someone.
other than that, pretty decent stuffs like new UI and other things. the most bothering thing is sometimes the notch area glitch out that preview your home wallpaper while playing game or open app that doesnt support fullscreen mode.

I personally adore Lineage. but I am not sure because it is an unofficial build. so is it a workaround that make Lineage works with Poco? or do you recommend that I just wait for the Official build from Lineage?

Haven't tried LOS but I have been using the nitrogen os rom and its very stable. No force closes and battery life is as good as the stock rom.

It is unofficial but the developer is part of the LineageOS team.
So nothing to fear.

Okay I will give Lineage a try. Thanks guys for the answers and discussions.
LineageOS 16 is rock stable but it isn't the fastest (Antutu about 224.000). I've tried out NitrogenOS Pie Beta and it's more fluid (Antutu about 267.000) and everything works fine. At least I gave Liquid Remix 10.0.1 a chance. There are more settings options else it's very stable and fast.

Question Activity check - are people using this device?

Hey folks,
Joining in on the aftermarket world after a few years. I recently got the nord 2 and there is some impressive work going on already
Just wanted to touch base with the community to understand the kind of enthusiasts who have this device.
Q; are you using stock OOS or Custom roms?
Q: would you all be interested in some fresh roms, say lineage 20/ aospa topaz, etc?
If there are even a few folks interested and have some time to test out some initial builds, lets talk!
My daily driver since 7 months. Using stock, rooted (Magisk + LSPosed). Switching back to my old OnePlus 7pro though, which I prepared for murena.io (privacy is a great thing).
For that reason I would love to see LOS coming to the Nord 2, because that means that we'll have Murena one day too, probably.
Been using it for nearly a year now. Will keep stock until it stops getting updates.
I would like to see a Lineage build for Android 14 and later for it. Will definitely use it.
Seems like a solid phone that will last me a lot of time.
Would definitely appriciate LineageOS for this device. The stock system is driving me nuts.
Use it as daily driver for about year. Stock oos 11 latest update, rooted through magisk, no TWRP, 0 problems.
I like it a lot. But android security patch became too old, so thinking to switch to LineageOS, Elixir or Pixel experience. Hope that the few bugs without resolve will be fixed very soon. Mostly reports about alert slider and stock cam. Not severe, one can live without the slider and use one of the gcam forks.

I think I saw it on 4pda.ru forum but was a bit outdated. Stability and security are essential for mi as I use my phone for work and biz ( as all of us ).
Just saw it published on July. Maybe need to contact devs. Unfortunately don't have enough spare time for hobby development....
Using stock and rooted rom, still on Android 11 though because 12 just plain out sucks.
I would very much love a good stable rom. I come from the Oneplus 3 where ROM support was just simply amazing. Most current roms are busted, suck when it comes to Camera quality or simply crash. Proper support for the Nord 2 is a wet dream at the moment.

It partially works, something's broken because it would often just not switch profiles when the slider was used. It's a good rom but not as stable / smooth. Also, camera quality sucks because it doesn't have the proper drivers / app.

Not so wet dream All GSI based ROMs are in advance states. Being this mediatek device and lack of some drivers make the things worse. Also there is not a lot of testing for this device... Imho.
