Can't pair S6 edge to Acura TL...trusted devices issue - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to pair my S6 edge to my TL but I keep getting blocked by the trusted devices menu.
Basically I'm able to start the pairing process and setup a pair code but when my car asks me to name the device the pairing process stops. I get a notification that asks me to add the car to my trusted devices list but when I do my car keeps telling me I can't start the pairing process from the phone. It's like if I have to add my car to the trusted devices list before I start pairing in order to finish pairing the car and phone. Is there any way to disable to smart lock so I can pair my car? I never had any issues with previous galaxy devices.
It's worthy to note that I was able to pair my Gear 2 and Nexus 9 without all this hassle
thanks.

What year TL?

I wouldn't trust a TL either LOL. Works fine for BMW M3 with iDrive

Works on my 2012 TL but BT track info doesn't display which sucks!

I was able to make a video with what exactly happens that prevents me to pair my phone and my car. Basically, i can go though the entire process but when i get to the part where i have to name the phone it cuts me off. Then I have a "trusted devices" message that pop up on the phone asking me to pair with my car to add it to the trusted list, and when i go in bluetooth devices, it does say pair. Usually it should say connected. When I try to connect to it in BT devices, it asks me for my 4 digit code and after I input it, my car tells me the pairing process can't be initiated from the phone...I don't know what to do, this is the first phone i was not able to pair. I think its a lollipop thing but i cant confirm because my note 4 that ran lollipop was already paired with the car when i got the OTA 4.4 to 5.0.

I also made a thread on an Acura forum if anybody is interested

Turn off Smart Lock? Settings> Lock Screen and Security > Other Security Settings > Trust Agents and uncheck Smart Lock?

one of the first things i tried. Thx anyways

Important update.
I was able to pierce the mystery of my pairing problem. It seems as not all S6 edge are created equal.
Long story short, my dad got himself a new car, Benz GLA250, thats comes with networking capabilities when paired with a smartphone. His company supplied iphone didnt share the network connection with the car so he asked me to try with my S6. As i tried to enable bluetooth tethering, i couldnt find it. I made a few searches on XDA and found that some people are complaining about missing functions on their edge, BT tethering was one of the main features some people didnt have, others were missing some toggles also. It seems as some phones dont have it. Don't ask me why because its not a carrier restriction, some people on T-Mo had it, others didnt.
The only solution was to flash a custom rom with BT tethering enabled. As I didnt want to go through the entire flashing process, and also because i didnt want to trip knox in case it break SamsungPay, i called up my friend that had the same phone I didnt and found out he also didnt have BT tether. Since he didnt care about knox or Samsungpay, i flashed him a custom rom and was fianlly able to pair my TL with the edge, and was also able to connect to my dads car.
So i guess it's a software problem. Not sure why that option was left out for some, but i guess it'll be fixed in the upcoming 5.1.1 update. Also worth noting that samsung did release a fix for the missing toggles through an app in the galaxy store.

Does anybody know why BT tethering is gone on my variant? I've heared of some carriers taking out that option (and hotspot) but that was mostly because of the unlimited data plans, but in canada they never block anything on our variants, neither the bootloader or any other function.
Has anybody with an S6 edge W8 also have the BT tethering missing?

I'm trying to pair my galaxy s6 edge to my acura mdx 2006, and i can't do it. Is my phone too new to my car?

Just in case anybody is still interested in this problem, I found out that this "era" of TL ('04-'08) ONLY accepts cell phones from this time period.
Meaning if one doesn't have a cellphone dating back from these years "IT AIN'T GONNA WORK!" There is a cellphone compatibility list online
that one can find out which cellphone works from multiple makers and carriers.
And the answer to your question....YES, its too new.

Pairing Blutooth LG HBS110 Headset

Hello everyone, newbie here so please allow for some level of 'ingnorance'.
I am trying to pair up LG HBS-110 earphones to my Verizon TP2. These headset were brougth with the Verizon LG Chocolate (mid 2006). They still work as I am still able to pair it with that device. The TP2 is not finding it when I search. It locates my neighbor's laptop 2 hourses away but not the damn earpiece. Could it be they are too old or TP2 needs the proper 'drivers'?
A Verizon Samsung Rougue did not pick it up either. My daughter' 'newer' cell, also an LG, picked it up but would not name it and could not pair it.
Any ideas to make it work? Trash it? Use it as a necklace?
Thanks.
See if your BT headset as a reset function, that removes all the pairings he had in memory. Nokia's one had that function since they hold in memory more that 1 phone, and after the memory is full, no more new phones could be paired.
thanks for the tip. I do have a reset, did pressed it for several seconds. It might have been 10-15, not sure. I honestly don't have the instructions and don't know the time limit. thanks.

[Q] Rooting anf BT Openzone from O2

I have my contract with O2 UK and with that I get free access to BT Openzone Wi-Fi hotspots. Unfortunately at I am unable to login via the landing page when I type my number in. I have reset my wifi account as instructed by O2, in essence, unregistering my number with BT openzine and re-registering it. Openzone ahs some sort of validation feature that checks if the phone you are using if approved by the network proivder for use on open zone. I have rooted my phone but have not installed any custom roms etc. Do you think rooting has effect my ability to connect to the hot spots?
I have just purchased a GS2 (not rooted yet) but I also have a Nexus one that has been rooted for some time and I get BT fon no problem.
I also have the same problem. Apparently the Samsung Galaxy S II is so new that they haven't had time to accredit it with BT Openzone and The Cloud yet. I spoke to a nice chap at O2 who is making enquiries and promised to ring me when more news is available.
Openzone is also fairly hit-and-miss.... I've got Infinity and obviously access to OZ/Fon is included, never was able to connect anywhere (don't even get the landing page half the time) be it with the netbook or phone so I opted out . It's unforunately quite common, there's a lot of threads on the subjet in the BT forum. Might opt back in at some point just to see if it's got any better.

[Q] Using Samsung Note 1 (AT&T Model) as a wi-fi only type media player

Hello All,
I was hoping someone could help me. My old Samsung Galaxy Note 1 had started having issues. Broken charge port so had to swap batteries, broken headphone jack, pc not recognizing device, etc. So I bought a new phone (Nexus 5), and now I have this Note 1 laying around. I would love to use it as a media player (like an Ipod TOUCH or something). The problem I am having is that even with my wifi connected, NON of my network dependent apps will work. Facebook, Google Play, Youtube, Netflix, etc all seem to be looking for a cellular network, or a SIM or something. Is there a way I can use this as a wifi only device that all my network dependent apps will work (they same as they did before? I don't understand why I couldn't. Converting my old Iphone 4 into a wifi only Ipod Touch basically, was no problem. Connected to my wi-fi and life went on as normal. Please Help.
Thanks in advance.

I don't have this problem in either of my sim-less notes. I was going batty for a few days, getting notifications on both phones. Is WiFi set up correctly?
I'd try a reset to factory
And, wait, what's the point of turning an old phone into a media player if you say the headphone jack is broken?
Also - charging port piece is under $20 shipped (or it was when it failed on my friend's note) and the repair job isn't too hard.

Very frustrating problem in s2, s3, s4 and s6!

Ok... here is the story... I owned galaxy tab s2, s3, s4 and now own s6... all lte with regular phone call capabilities.... from s2 to s6 have the same annoying problem... incoming phone calls and sms stop working randomly (lte always works)... yes on all devices! Long time ago, when i bought s2 to use as a phone, I thought "ok, it is not a real phone, and it is from south korea will wait to s3 (i live in the usa and use t mobile)".... then bought s3... same problem... S4 same and s6 same! Im very frustrated... all these are 1000 dollar tablets! How it is possible this problem happen on all devices through years...
I detected this problem because, when my phone is turned off, all calls are forwarded to my wife's phone... and one time we were dining and she received a call, but my phone was turned on and the caller was calling to me... weird... then... I call my phone with skype from my pc and again call was forwarded to my wife's phone... the only thing that fixed this is turning off and on the tablet...
4 years ago (or more) have been asking in forums, tried to call samsung usa (they even didn't know this tablet with phone exist) and nothing.... obviously did like 100 factory reset... and rooted (not the s6) all devices and messed up a little bit with some configuration like volte and so... but nothing... problem persisted 4 years ago till today...
You sure its not a samsung account problem. Maybe it linked itself to your wifes phone number on one of those tablet and now its acting strange. Have you tried logging in online into your samsung account. Maybe there is a setting with linked phone number or perhaps an "old device list"/"linked devices" where you can delete all linked devices and then log it back in on your device.
Also if that all isnt possible maybe try a new samsung account?

When I was looking to buy the S6 I started looking at the wifi model first and noticed that the phone software was installed...even thought it was the wifi model. I had never noticed this on earlier tablets and was under the impression that in the US we weren't allowed by the carriers to use the tab as a phone like they can overseas. So when I saw the software installed on the S6 wifi I decided to wait until the LTE model was available from T-Mobile. Finally it was released so I went into T-Mobile and before purchasing I asked them if I were to put my phones SIM into the tab if I would be able to have the phone working since the software was installed on the tab. I was told that it might work for a few days, but the system would eventually detect that it was a tablet and automatically disable that function and the phone would no longer work on the tab. They did however say that if I had a Galaxy phone that it would work through the phone to receive and make calls, but only if the phone was close and connected to the tab ( By wifi or Bluetooth I guess) So I thought that is ridiculous...Why would I pay $729 for the 128GB LTE version and not be able to put in the SIM from my phone and use it that way? When I can get the wifi 256GB version for about $100 less and just tether that to my phone when away from wifi to get onto the web. Anyway...That's the route I took since I wasn't going to be able to use the phone function without a Galaxy phone anyways according to T-Mobile. All these years and we still can't have true phone function on our tabs here in the US, but they can overseas for some reason.

Mine works great!.... when it works... 80% of the day... carrier never disabled the phone calls... or at least that is what i think,... i dont think carrier disconnect my tab just a few times a day.... this solves just with a reset or a network reset... have another solution that works great... i have set up a google voice account, with a second number, and, set on call forwarding, that, when phone is out of signal of shut down it forward to google voice number... that number works on lte so ir works like a charm... but it is not an elegant solution...
I think next year should buy the tmo version and go all calls through lte, phone number with google voice and that is solved...
Just think what i feel... how frustrated i am... 5 years with this problem! the only tab did not had this problem was the first S, just S, (tab s with no number) tmo never help me... samsung usa never help me.... they only told me "do a factory reset" with all my patience anwer "i did like 100 factory reset already" but they told me "ok but make a factory reset" i knew all the time they will never help...
My last hope would be to talk with someone at samsung south korea from a high tech support, but cant get anyone talking in english
The final question is am i the only guy in usa that uses a s6 lte as a phone? or there are other people using a s6 as a phone and dont have this problem?
Thanks for your time

I remember the Tab S.... Still have mine sitting on a shelf somewhere LOL. There was a developer that put a phone rom out for it and with a little hacking I was able to use it as a phone with a Bluetooth set. I remember going into a T-Mobile store with it and they couldn't believe I was using it as a phone LOL. I had it in one of the Otterbox cases with the belt clip so it worked out well for awhile but just as a novelty to see peoples reactions LOL.

How to get around stupid AT&T messaging block!

As title states how can I get around AT&T stupid cross platform messaging block. Absolutely stupid. Samsung does not offer an unlocked version of this tablet forcing you to buy it through a carrier and AT&T locks out key features. Which is absolute crap. Apple is allowed to sync there devices no problem why not us? How can I get around this???
IDK if you still need help. I'm not sure what phone you are using, but I was able circumvent it. I have a Note 20 Ultra from AT&T as well and a wifi only Tab s7+. I was able to load a U1 Firmware onto my Note (This will wipe the phone). I can now sync call and messages. It still doesn't want to work over mobile all the time, but if they are on the same wifi, or if my phone is on a wifi network and the S7+ is connected to the Auto Hotspot from my phone, it works pretty well. Here's the link to the U1 FWs for the Note 20 Ultra. https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/ota-and-non-ota-firmware-for-n986u-and-n986u1.4143833/
I can't attest to this working on the Carrier version of the S7+ though. Hope you can find something helpful here.
Best of luck.
