Slow Bluetooth transfer speed between S3 and Windows - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well, I feel kinda n00b:
Is it normal that the Bluetooth transfer speed between Windows 8.1 and the Samsung S3 is just about 170 kb/s?
I got the latest Bluetooth drivers and the Asus site says that I should have Bluetooth 4.0 on my laptop: http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/G75VW/specifications/
This happens with the latest official Samsung Android version and also the CyanogenMod.
What am I doing wrong? *blush*

Try on another computer.

[Q] Can't access Galaxy Tab 10.1 as USB drive

Hi,
I have a new galaxy tab 10.1 and a computer with windows XP. I've installed the USB driver from the samsung website, but when i connect the tablet to the computer, the only thing that comes up is a little window saying "MTP Media Player" and i can either "Transfer files using windows media player" or "take no action". How do i access the tablet in windows explorer?
Thanks,
Alan
You have to make sure USB Debugging is turn off and your bluetooth connection is turned off as well

After upgrading my galaxy tab 10.1 i had same problem with PC connections, recognized only as MTP without option to transfer files.
I upgraded media player from 10 to 11 in my XP computer, reinstalled usb driver from samsung site - it solved my problem.
Thanks krbernier

[Q] Problems transferring music and photos

I'm having the following two problems transferring music and photos, and was wondering if they are known issues with or without workarounds.
1. When I plug the phone into the PC and try to get at photos, I can't see any thumbnails--just generic JPEG icons.
2. Transferring mp3s and photos often just plain fails. I've tried rebooting phone and PC, unplugging and replugging...but it happens seemingly for no reason. As in, I'll successfully transfer one photo or mp3 to the phone fine, and try another one immediately after without changing anything and it'll hang for minutes before declaring itself a failure.
Any help?
MTP
What OS are you running on your PC? If it is Windows XP, then try to install Windows Media Player 11 and run windows update as well.
Galaxy S III does not support USB Mass Storage like older Android phones but rather uses MTP/PTP as the file transfer modes which are only supported out of the box in Windows Vista or later. For Mac OS X, you'd also need to download MTP client.

I'm running Windows 7.
The problem is not that the PC can't handle MTP mode at all. The problem is that it is inconsistent. One album of mp3s will transfer just fine and 30 seconds later a single mp3 won't move at all. And the fact that I can't see image thumbnails (only generic image-file icons) is a real headache.
Obviously one day I'll be rooting and installing CM or something else, but I'd like to be as fully functional as possible until then.
Is anyone else having similar problems?
Copy and paste never a problem for me .

Unstable and lost PC connection

I have upgraded my Samsung galaxy tab 2 10.1 tablet, GT-P5110, to Marshmallows with a Custom Rom, CM13. A smooth process. which appeared successfull. However with two problems. The system is very unstable. It crashes and restarts frequently for no obvious reason. This behaviuor is so disturbing that the upgrade must be considered a mistake. Is there a remedy?
Also I cannot t usb-connect to a W10 PC with the driver installed via Kies. A unit correctly labelled GT-5110 appears (icon displays a music device!!) but the folder, expected to show the files, is empty. The unit is clearly not identified correctly. USB has been set to MTP on the tablet. Trying the Samsung MTP driver available in W10 does not help. I have also enabled Android debugging (ADB) in the tablet with no difference. An error in the CM13 installation? Or is a different Samsung driver needed? I can get around some the problem by using the networking capabilities of the ES filehandler but still the error is annoying.

Can't transfer files to tablet from phone

So, I can't send or receive files on my Android tablet by wifi, no matter what app I use(tried es explorer, mi drop, shareit, just in case but no luck) that starts a hotspot and I connect from my phone but instantly says disconnected and fails. My phone transfer files normally with other devices and my tablet cannot transfer with any. But my tablet can receive and send through Bluetooth but is not convenient as it is very slow compared to wifi for bigger sizes files. My Android tablet is Google Nexus 7 2013 Wifi (flo) by Asus and has an unlocked bootloader and runs on custom rom Lineageos 14.1-20180712-NIGHTLY-flo (the most recent) and Android 7.1.2 and kernel version 3.4.0-lineageos-g90f7354. I'm not sure but it's possible it appeared after installing LineageOS. And in the older versions of LineageOS it was occuring. Also my phone is Mi Max 2 running on Android 7.1.1 NMF26F and on MIUI 10 Global 8.7.12 Beta(newest) but shouldn't matter as it can transfer files via WiFi normally with other Android devices. I do not know what's causing this but it is inconvenient for me so if anyone could help me solve this I would really appreciate it.
