[ROOT] Requesting root for Alcatel Pop 2 (5) Premium 7044Y / Vodafone Smart Prime 6 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, as the title suggests I'm looking for a root solution for the Alcatel Pop 2 (5) Premium 7044Y or Vodafone Smart Prime 6, which seem to be nearly identical. Also would like to know if stock roms are available for reflashing in case of brick. Thanks. :good:
[EDIT]
ROOT METHOD ADDED based on KingRoot, click here!

looking for how to root Vodafone Smart Prime 6 (vf - v895n) too

How to ROOT with the KingRoot method:
1 - Enable USB Debugging and Allow Unknown Sources.
2 - Turn off phone. Boot by pressing Power + Volume UP to enter stock recovery.
3 - Select English, then "Write Protect Switch" and choose "Set write protect off". A message should show up saying "write protect is off after reboot". Choose "cancel" and "reboot system now".
4 - Install KingRoot: http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=654620&st=500 or at kingroot.net (use google translate)
5 - Leave Wifi on and run the KingRoot app. Press the blue button and wait till it shows 100%. If your device freezes, you most likely missed a step so just press POWER button until the device reboots and start over from the top.
6 - Check if you've successfully rooted with Root Checker or similar from the Play Store. Optionally, replace KingUser with SuperSu (link to guide below).

Does rooting enable network unlock?
Don't really want to root if I don't have to, and the common unlockers on fleabay have all said they can't unlock, hence now looking at rooting.
Any "decent" recommendations for unlockers that work, within a decent timeframe (9-10 days and I'd have to send the phone to, I was quoted by one!!)!
Thanks all

I dont think that possible for now, you need root, custom recovery and xposed installer.

When you plug your VF-895N to PC via USB and start it with VOL+, VOL- and POWER button you will enter something called DOWNLOADING MODE.

It is essential to know what build or system version of the software and carrier as the methods vary depending on that. It's a bad idea to just randomly try rooting methods because of potential to brick (soft or hard) and different root methods can leave different files behind that might stop the actual methods that could root it from working properly. But since the phone is so new and not real popular to most devs, it might be a bit before someone figures out rooting it.

Do you also encounter the problem without recovery mode?. I cant seem to boot in recovery mode but I can in download mode.
For most newer LG phones you can get to recovery 2 ways :
"adb reboot recovery" from the adb prompt (if you have USB debugging enabled and working adb drivers on the PC) or hold Power and Volume Down at the same time until the LG logo pops up, then release them and press them both again - the hard reset menu will appear. Hit power and it will reboot into recovery. The manual way can be a pain and tricky to get the timing right on some devices.

I never really did consider that it might leave files. Maybe I'll bear this burden for a couple of months until some developers found a method.

I already tried the adb way but it just reboots normally. I even tried different combinations of pressing the buttons but i cant seem to boot into recovery. The only thing that I can boot into is the normal and the Download mode.

I Dont have my bootloader unlocked. And my phobe is for LG L70 and i can't risk bricking mine or I might get some application errors or bugs. But thank you for sharing your ROM. It eill be useful for those LG L90 users for there phone to be rooted. Good for them and unfortunate for me.
I'm looking forward on having my phone rooted. I'm always checking this thread. Thank You.

Not yet. I only tried to use ioroot which doesnt work for LG L70. Because i dont have recovery mode and IOroot uses recocery mode. But I'll try to cantact the ioroot developers.
I've checked via PartitionTable app that L90 has recovery partition. So the problem is to get to recovery. Adb command and power&vol- just reboots the phone in normal mode.

I'm considering buying this phone model, the LG L70, and want to thank es0tericcha0s for this info, I was able to get to the factory reset menu this way, as instructed, BUT when I hit power at that menu, the phone will only reboot normally. This is because the hard reset menu or factory reset menu has only 2 options, Yes (factory reset) or No. The No option is highlighted when I hit power, so the phone reboots. If I select the Yes option, and hit power (haven't tried it yet), I assume the phone will proceed to reset itself to factory defaults.
BUT what I WANT to do, if possible, is get to a recovery menu where I have options to wipe phone/factory reset, wipe cache, install update from sd card, reboot, etc. Does this type of menu exist for the LG L70?

Root Verizon Note Edge DEVELOPER EDITION

ok number 1 thing i cannot be responsible for broken/bricked devices, lost info/data, the zombie apocalypse, or any other negative thing that may come from you attempting this method. I have used this method to root my developer edition note edge, as have several others, and if anything good comes form this it's totally my fault ^_^ ... negative stuff tho is on you.
IMPORTANT!!!!! if you do not have the DEVELOPER EDITION of this phone, leave this thread now, nothing here can help you it will only kill your phone!!!
ok so this info is on the site already but spread among several posts/threads, now here it is all in one place, and actually in the Verizon thread since this method only works with Verizon Developer Edition of the phone.
WHAT YOU NEED:
Samsung Drivers (download KIES3 from their site is probably easiest way to get latest versions)
http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu
http://twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxynote4qualcomm.html
Any version of Odin will work.
optional: extsdcardfix.zip i didn't use this, not sure where to pick it up from, look around XDA sure its here somewhere.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO:
1. install KIES3 from Samsung official site.
2. plug in your phone and let KIES recognize the phone (grats now you know you have the latest drivers)
3. turn off the phone and enter into Odin Download Mode. (hold power + home + vol down, press vol up on next screen with warning about custom OS)
4. Open Odin then plug in your phone and wait for it to show connected in Odin.
5. place the TWRP file you downloaded from their official site into the AP slot (PDA slot on older versions of Odin)
6. make sure not to adjust the check marks on the left side, Auto reboot and f.reset time should be the only two checked.
7. hit start and wait for it to complete.
8. power the phone on while holding up on the volume key and home buttons at the same time.
9. once in TWRP go to settings, turn off the screen off and turn the brightness all the way down. (this version of TWRP is designed for the note 4, it has two very bright while bars on the sides when used on the note edge that may cause damage to the screen if left on for long periods of time, also there is a glitch with sleep where you cant get it to wake properly so turning this off is a workaround to make the phone never sleep while in TWRP)
10. go to the install option on TWRP and add the UpdateSupersu.zip and if you downloaded extsdcardfix.zip click add more zips then select that file.
11. swipe right to install the files then reboot when done.
12. SuperSU may or may not be installed on the device after this, if it is skip this step and go to 13, if not install it from the market (one of my phones it was installed on, the other it wasn't (i have two of this phone) however since you have already installed the binary update files the market version will update and run fine if it isn't there)
13. Open SuperSU. at this point it may ask for you to update the binary again, if not skip to 14, if it does choose normal mode not the twrp mode. it will work fine then the device will restart.
14. Open SuperSU. when you open SuperSu this time it will tell you Knox was detected, would you like to attempt to disable, choose yes. it may get stuck trying to disable it, if it does just click the "recent apps" button on the bottom left of the phone, click "close all" then reopen SuperSu and do it again. the second time always works (least for me and the others who used this method)
15. Enjoy your rooted Verizon Galaxy Note Edge Developer Edition.
THINGS YOU WILL WANT TO KNOW:
1. I personally had trouble with Xposed and the WANAM modules, specifically my phone stopped taking phone calls and texts (internet still worked fine) havent had time to test it out and see if it was Xposed or WANAM, or even if it was just the settings i picked, if someone wants to do that and let me know I will add that info to this post.
2. I didn't use the extsdcardfix.zip, Titanuim Backup wont write to SD card, however ES File Explorer works with the SD card just fine.
any other problems you come across let me know so we can catalog them here.
I don't have the dev edition, but it's great to see progress. It gives me hope for my regular Verizon note edge. maybe some day.. probably not though.
This won't help the regular edition. This is only possible because the developer edition has an unlocked bootloader. Unfortunately until someone cracks the bootloader and and can unlock it you won't see root using this method. I have read that the note 4 was able to gain temporary root with kingroot latest version but loses root on reboot. That may lead to retail versions gaining full root at some point.

they have gained root on every variant but VZW, so that sys they have gotten by the bootloader so why not Verizon why is it so difficult?
They have temp root on verizon last i heard, and they didnt beat the bootloader to gain root on the at&t version it was an exploit. Im sure they are pretty close, however root alone wont get you able to install roms. Unless someone picks up the safestrap project or something similar Im afraid samsung is dead to rom modders on verizon and at&t.

How do I know if I have the developer edition of the phone?
It will say inder the battery "developer device" however if you didnt order It you probably dont have It. Unless you got a second hand one that person may have had developer edition. But the one from verizon definitely isnt it.

I have this installed on my rooted DE, and I still cant move/write to ext-sd using Root Explorer, etc.
I even tried other fixes from the Play store.
Any ideas?

Anyone have a developer edition to sell? Been looking around and cannot find one anywhere.
How I know if my device is developer edition? mine SM-915V UD.
SKU: SMN915VZKE

Hey... Any Note Edge Developer Edition owners out there! A bootloader-unlock method has been devised that is compatible with the Note Edge Retail Edition... however, they need a Dev Edition owner to step forward and volunteer some files to be used to generate the exploit. It will cost you nothing.... you run a script to generate your CID, and you use a PC app to back up your aboot partition, which is something all "Developer Edition" owners should have done before anything else anyway. PM me if you're interested in helping out. In the meantime... use the PhoneInfo app to find which bootloader is currently installed on your phone (you have to use this app... it's not in Settings > Phone Info.)
While I'm here... I'll answer this question...

If you bought it at a carrier location (Verizon, Verizon affiliate, BestBuy, etc)... you don't have one. The Dev Editions had to be purchased direct from Samsung for full retail price.
If you bought it new direct from Samsung... you'd know it (it'd be on the invoice, etc).
If you got it used... you probably paid more than average retail, and the seller would have advertised it as a Dev Edition. If you're still unsure... reboot to download mode and look for "Developer" or "Unlocked" somewhere. Also, I think they printed "Developer Device" on the body of the phone, under the battery, on most of them.

Internal error after updating to 6.0.1 OTA

I just updated my device to 6.0.1. During the reboot, I got a message "there is an internal error with your device. Contact your manufacturer for details". Device booted fine. But then battery level was showing 3800%!! I did a factory reset on the device. And then the device started, but gets stuck on "Select Wi-Fi network"
I was happy on seeing an update available as my device had become excruciatingly slow after updating to 6.0.
Anyone else facing a similar issue? Any pointers on how to solve this?
There should be an answer/fix in somewhere in this forum. I think your problem stems from a partial update - from Android 5.?? a comparison between build.prop in /system and /vendor throws the error if differences are found.

I have done only OTA updates so far. OTA update to 6.0 happened without any issue. I tried searching the forum expecting the solution to be here somewhere .. Is this the thread you want me to refer to? http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-9/help/failed-marshmallow-update-stock-android-t3226704
TIA
I agree the solution isn't easy to find. Links below indicate TWRP is required. If your not happy with that then Nexus Root Toolkit will download and install the latest marshmallow - there's an option to leave your data partition intact

Quick reply
Try Nexus Root Toolkit - it simplifies a lot more besides rooting. It has a "restore stock" button with a "soft bricked" option. The key is can you get to bootloader mode - from a power off state press and hold down volume up and down buttons then press and hold power. I think there are instructions when you press the "restore stock" button.

Re: rooting this phone
The phone is a LG Aristo 4 +, model LM-X320MA. Android version 9. It has a lot of new bells and whistles.
Can this phone be Rooted? If so, What rooting prog will work? There is some programs and some games that I would like to explore.
Well someone on this forum must know 1. can this phone be rooted. 2. what rooting program will work?

SuperSu app will not install on the phone. The app stops at about 3/4th installed and says "app not installed" and done in the lower right corner of the screen. Now I got the error message up, it says blocked by play protect , this app can allow unauthorized access to your data or device". I click ok anf then I get the "app not installed" error.
jwoegerbauer I got the 1st step figured out. I got "blocked by play protect" turned off and the supersu app is installed.
The supersu app is tring to connect me to www.supersu.com and the site isn't responding.

Be quick head to settings turn on dev options and enable oem unlocking you should now have the boot menu in ur download mode unlock it from there and then follow along this guide
