Can Note 8 pair with Gear S? - Samsung Gear S

Has anyone managed to connect a Note 8 with the Gear S? I 've do everything follow this topic
"Tutorial: Install Gear Manager and connect to Non-Samsung Devices"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s/general/tutorial-install-gear-manager-connect-t2934307
I can install Gear Manager app but it doesn't found my Gear S , it said "No device found"
It's so ironic . Non-samsung Devices can pair Gear S but Note 8 can't.

Yes you can. First, make sure your gear is in pairing mode and you might also want to back up any personal information like music or pictures from the gear because you might have to fully reset the gear s watch. Next, on your Note 8, go to the Samsung Gear App. Then, where it says pick a device it will show you the latest gear smartwatches available. choose the option for not on the list. Your gear will immediately search for any gear watches in pairing mode near it. Once the gear app finds your Gear S watch, continue the process as normal.
Hope this helps.

Gear Fit not syncing with S Health

Anyone else having this issue? Tried unpairing, rebooting, restoring, uninstalling fit manager and s health on my S5. Nothing...
Sent from my Galaxy Note 3 running Knoxraid
I am having the same problem, have pressed transfer on the phone and it says it works but can't see anything on the phone, all the notifications work correctly, but not the data transfer. Anyone have a idea how you see your sleep stats on the phone as well?
I have the S5

Same problem here and I have the S4
Have managed to get the pedometer to work, when on the pedometer screen, go to the settings top right corner and select device data to view, you can then pick the gear fit. Not sure if you can view the sleep data anywhere on the phone yet.

THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH!! You have no idea how long I spent trying to get this damn thing to work. When you pair a Fit it should ask you if you want to view it from phone or Fit. I actually had a support rep in their chat room tell me it's not possible.

I have also problem with S Health on my S4 (I9505). I can't connect Gear Fit with this app. But if you check Gear Fit Manager on S5 there is option S Health right in the main menu. But this option is missing in Gear Fit Manager on S4. And I don't know why? Also Gear Manager (not Gear Fit Manager) is not working on S4 with Gear Fit.

Wish i could offer more help, but the generic completely unsync the fit and try a resync. You would have thought the S health app would be the same. To import the details make sure you are on the pedometer screen and the pedometer is enabled on the Fit.
I hope there will be a lot of updates for S Health and Gear fit, as the sleep stats dont export anywhere and you can only view one days pedometer stats. I wish there was an exercise mode to monitor heart when lifting weights.

I tried to reset Gear Fit, re-install Gear Fit Manager, but nothing. I also reset all in S Health. S Health app needs still Gear Manager which is not working on S4 with Gear Fit and after this installation S Health writes only that I have to update Gear Manager but I have the newest version.
Why is Gear Fit Manager different on S5 and S4 ? Which version do you have?
They will probably fix it since people with s4 are a lot so I doubt Samsung will abandon them (us).

Are you on JB or Kit Kat? I think that has something to do with it.
hello guys, question, everytime I shutdown the gear fit and reboot it, I need to setup the settings all over again (wallpaper, profile, etch)is this normal? or just my unit? its annoying and the security pin is useless when you force shut it down, all the setting is reset

Samsung Gear 2 is working fine with Z Ultra

Gear 2 just available the other day and I got it today.
My Z Ultra is 4.3(14.2.A.0.290) and lucky that I can successfully connected with it. I followed instructions from below link to get Gear Manager with Samsung Apps installed on my phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723862
Below are my findings for those who are interested.
1. Phone Answering/Calling/AddressBook/Talking to the watch on my wrist is amazing.
2. Recorded Videos/Photos copied automatically to phone after recording.
3. Screen automatically turn on when you raised your hand to see clock.
4. Music can play from it's built-in Speaker.
Still needed functions.
1. No Call History.
2. Can't see the songs from Z Ultra. Have to copy songs.
Have to still find out about emails, sms and other notifications.
Cheers!
Hi,
Would love to know how you manage to use those apk.
I had to use previous gear manager ( in the g2n q&a subforum, LG thread), which works perfectly, but no s-health
With these on my z1, gear manager return a "failed to analyse package " error when trying to connect to the watch, and never connects

Hi,
I only installed Gear Manager(Item No. 17) from above link. After I installed, it asked to install a lot of other apks and I just confirmed to installed everything.
After that, only Gear Manager Icon shows on my phone and I didn't found S-Health. I also not need all those Exercise and Fitness programs.
Connection is fine and able to make calls, copying vidoes to phones,...
Cheers!
good to know! thanks
Hello all is this still working.....?

Tutorial: Install Gear Manager and connect to Non-Samsung Devices

Hi,
Today someone told me via Google Plus how to install Gear Manager on non-Samsung mobiles. His name is Serge Berig. So 100% Credits go to him. I am just posting here what he posted in Google Plus. His Phone is Moto X and Mine in LG G2. Worked perfectly fine.
My Test Scenarios:
1. LG G2 D802 Rooted. Rooting is not required as his Moto X is unrooted.
2. I am using a separate SIM on Gear S.
3. I have disabled mobile data and Wifi on both Gear S and my mobile
How it Works:
1. Download Gear Manager Latest Version and GearManagerStub.apk from this link: https://www.mediafire.com/folder/e7h23e12rzesi/Gear_Manager (Credit goes to the uploader)
2. Download these APK Files: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3uemtAJSY3PVDFiY0FsVGRLN28/view?usp=sharing (Credit goes to Serge)
3. Move these files to your phone.
4. 1st install Gear Manager, then GearManagerstb.apk, then all remaining apks.
5. Open Gear Manager on your phone and viola. It connects, Resets your Gear S in case you used it before and as far as i checked everything Works
I did not test each and everything. As far as i know most thing works. Previously i had "Connecting Forever" Issue, now it connects straight away. I am using my Gear S as complete independent to Mobile Calls and SMS from my Mobile. I have not set any forwarding options or notification for Call and SMS from my mobile to Gear S.
Pls post your results
What's not Working:
1. Can't Transfer Music/Images from Phone
2.
I was just coming here to post this.
I can confirm this works on my stock G3.
Works:
Calls work, but i had to switch to the phone then back to bluetooth. Initially there was no audio. However that may have been a glitch, because it works after that without flipping back.
Notifications (you have to allow Gear Manager access to the notifications in Android System Menu)
Home Screen Styler
Find My Gear
Contacts pull down to Gear
Not Working:
Music player seems to be controlled through Gear Manager and not A2DP. So we may have to install Samsung Music player. Still investigating.
Transferring files to the Gear through Gear Manager crashes goproviders.apk. This also broke my notifications. Had to reboot the phone to get it back working.
Call Logs dont pull down
Weather app is missing
Receiving SMS in the watch SMS app. You get the notifications just fine, but the GEAR SMS app can't sync your conversations

I would imagine there is a newer goprovider.apk. The one he posted is 2.0.337.337. Thats the older one from the Gear 1/2 Gear Manager.
All the Samsung Gear S apps are version 2.2 and up. I was experimenting with the old Gear Manager and got similar crashes.
Just thought I'd chime in and let you know that I have the same version on my Note 4 with the Gear S. 2.0.337
Thanks for checking on that. It's got to be a missing lib or some TouchWiz framework.
It's not even a feature I care about, but i'm sure it will be needed later.
I'm still trying to find a fix for the music player controls.

Did you install the Stub Manager and all the 8 or so other APK's?
If you skipped the initial activation screen, make sure bluetooth is on, on the Gear S.
Also, try unpairing in the phone bluetooth menu then reopen Samsung Gear manager.

yes i installed the latest gear manager app as well as stub manager apk and other apks provided
this is my first time setting this watch up. my devices pair up but when i go to paired devices in the gear manager and try to connect, on my phone it says "connecting to gear" and the gear just has the "to connect to your mobile device, select the name of this gear in the samsung gear application" message
*EDIT*
got it working . i uninstalled everything that dealt with the gear under app manager in my phone and unpaired the device under bluetooth and re-installed everything again. it re-paired itself and it is working now.
I must have missed an APK somewhere
Glad to hear you got it working. Try some of things I listed as not working and see if you have different results. The more info we have, the better!
Music and images not worming here as well.
if I disconnect from Bluetooth my calls don't get forwarded to my watch. Can't send out text messages as well
Yeah I just want to chime in saying this isn't a fully working solution, but it works enough to keep me satisfied for now.
I'm sure as we get more people wearing these, more will jump on board to fix the issues we have.

[Q] Install apps on Gear S AND Gear 2

I now have a Gear S and a Gear 2. I was thinking about keeping the Gear 2 as it is smaller and better for occasions when I am wearing a suit and such. It looks a little fancier. It doesn't seem I can use the same apps on both. If I download an app for one watch, it doesn't seem it can then be downloaded again for the other. In order to get my old apps to work on my Gear S I had to uninstall them from my gear 2. If I can't I will just sell my Gear 2.
Any suggestions?

how to remove other paired devices - Samsung Gear Manager

I am am on AT& T but I had T-mobile Gear S (for only 2 days) as well as Samsung Gear Live.
I sold both pieces and today I received the AT&T version of Gear S (1EE2)
Just to keep things clean, 3 days ago I uninstalled Samsung Gear Manager when I sold the T-mobile Gear S and today installed the Samsung Gear Manager again and then I paired my phone with my new AT&T Gear S.
I was surprised to see my T-mobile Gear S (AED4) still in the list of devices as well as the Samsung Gear Live (B9CA) - this really shocked me, since Samsung Gear Manager is for Gear devices and not for Gear Live (which runs on Android wear).....so I have no idea why it even appeared there. (ALL my Android wear apps are long deleted as well from my Note 4)
I tried to 'delete' the T-mobile Gear S as well as the Gear Live from the list by long-pressing on them when in the Samsung Gear Manager menu. I held and pressed the names of these two devices hoping that a 'delete' option would pop-up. No such luck - Gear Manager tried to connect right away which is subsequently followed by "Unable to connect......" pop-up.
I even went into the Samsung Gear Manager "app info' and deleted data, deleted cache, restarted everything. No luck - all 3 devices are still showing in my Samsung Gear Manager:
- ATT Gear S
- Tmobile Gear S
- Samsung Gear Live (Android wear Os)
This is really frustrating. Any idea as how I can delete the other two devices that I no longer own ?
Thanks in advance !
have you gone into the bluetooth menu on your phone and unpair the devices from there?
THANK YOU !!..... the two 2 are gone now from gear manager.
I feel a little embarrassed - cant believe that I did not go to BT phone settings.
Thanks again !!
