Not working. This is fake!

There are actually a working twrp 2.8.6.0 for F460 variant which were sharing in some Chinese forums, i managed to get one and it's really fully working. But the thing is there are no one make ROM for this variant so why need a recovery so bad ). Wish someday i could use a AOSP based rom working on F460 variant, would be awesome.

This is not fake . I built it based on kitkat dt.image and kernel. you should try the lollipop one . Remove laf partition and boot recovery from fastboot. You will see it will work. I could reach till here at this point.

Tks for the awesome job of yours. Also is there any chance you can build a AOSP based rom? CM is enough though, really miss it back then while using Optimus G...

Appreciate your hard work
But i am new to android ... What is bumped and how it works..
No matter just explain here with step by instructions how to get TWRP or CWM for f460k lollipop for rooted device.
---------- Post added at 06:01 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:58 AM ----------
F460K flashed lollipop kdz and rooted using Lg one click root. Is there any recovery apk installer for lollipop available like in kitkat. If it is little difficult also explain with proper steps. Translator in chinese or viet forums are totally not understandable.

Hey bro,
Actually there is no use for twrp for our devices. Its main purpose is to flash custom rom for which there aren't any. If you are rootedt thats good enough.
If you really want twrp then remove laf partition boot in fast boot and boot into recovery. Use google on how to process.

Lam huaong android lollipop 5.0 rom.. Can it be installable from kitkat stock after rooting and installed recovery on kitkat. And by flashing kitkat kdz i can downgrade it from lollipop to kitkat.

I am working with Bender to try to get an autorec going based off the JZ-Real twrp. If that is successful I plan on dipping my fingers into the ROM developing kool-aid.
No promises on timelines or features, will likely be vanilla AOSP-based at first. But work and kids are my first two priorities whereas this is just a hobby.

The OP made the thread about his recovery he was working on and I kinda came in and changed the topic to what I was doing. Thread jacking

Oh i see. Anyway i don't think that's big of a problem, he too wants someone to carry on f460 developement. Not everyday we got good news for this variant :d.

On lgviet forum, a rom modder released that apk which install recovery on LP rom (root required) which i'm using. Could that be counted as Autorec? Since i can boot to system or rec directly without having to modify anything else.

Need help making a couple choices

Hey guys, so the last phone I rooted and had a bootstrap on with custom roms was the Motorola Droid x2. We couldn't even get into the kernel. So with that being said I've acquired super user on my g3 months ago to freeze apps. But now I don't depend on my phone like I did then for work. So I want to do the whole thing and I'm unsure what choices to make. I'm not looking for a guide for installing stuff (at least not yet ) just trying to get suggestions and hopefully good recommendations.
So here's the main point for the post
TLDR!!!!!
Current android version 5.0.1
kernels- unlock it? Change it? Not sure what all you can actually do with that.
Bootstrap- clock work mod? Or any other one can't think of names but need something to load roms
Rom for battery and power- cyanogenmod is what I use to run on the x2 not sure if it's still one of the best?
Anything else I missed that I should get and check out?
Thanks in advance
Put TWRP custom recovery on your phone with the autorec TWRP app by @bender_007, in the General section of the non-variant specific G3 sections. Once you give the app superuser permissions it looks like it's hung up but give it 10-30 seconds because it's backing up your current recovery. Then click the button to install TWRP. Download the latest TWRP v2.8.7.0 from its thread also somewhere in the G3 sections, and flash it from your current TWRP.
I use @xdabbeb 's VS985 v2.0 ROM, which is based on the latest official LG ROM, build 35B, based on Android 5.1.1. Very happy with it, very smooth and great on battery.
I haven't heard the term bootstrap with regards to custom recoveries. I'd suggest just calling them custom recoveries.
Thanks for your input it's been a while after I read it I was like yep it's custom recoveries lol thank you again

[SM-G530T][5.1.1] In search of a way to put a custom recovery on a G530T

Hey guys, I've just spent the last two days searching high and low for a way to put a custom recovery on my rooted Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime (SM-G530T), and I've come up with close to nothing. Most forum posts about custom recoveries only refer to the SM-G530H variant of the phone, and I am in no way experienced enough to know what is and isn't safe to flash onto my phone in regards to other models custom recoveries. If someone who is more well versed in this area could let me know if any of these recoveries are safe to use, it would be greatly appreciated.
The only thing concrete that i have found on the subject is an obscure tech site's tutorial on rooting the G530T/G530P, which recommends the custom recoveries CWM and TWRP for the Grand Prime. however, the links given are disappointingly vague and do not provide any information on the models that the referenced recoveries are compatible with. As I am still a new user i am unable to post a link in this thread, so if you would like to see the referenced tutorials then you can DM me and Ill give you the link. I would really appreciate any input on this because i'm honestly out of my depth here.

There are no recoveries built for G530T ATM. The ones for the G530H work fine on the G530T from what I've tested. But, you cant flash zips or even make a backup on those so.. Yeah. Kind of useless in a way. For now, I use flashfire to flash zips but Xposed doesn't seem to flash or want to. I am currently making a custom TW ROM for the G530T that is debloated with some extra goodies. Testing it is kind of hard without a custom recovery. I may get someone to build the latest TWRP for the G530T so I can do some modding on this device, can't guarantee if he will.
Regards.

Its funny that you say that actually, because in the days after I first made this post I continued my search and was able to find a version of TWRP on xda that works for my SM-G530T, I then used it to flash xposed and everything seems to have gone just fine, the only small hitch is that you can't make nandroid back ups with this version, unfortunately. If you would like I can DM you the link to the twrp version since I still can't post links in threads

Ok I have it working and can confirm that it crashes on backup. I've made a backup using Online Nandroid Backup apk, and I am wondering if anyone has done the same, and successfully restored from it. Or does the restore bomb out same as the backup?

I have had the same problem CWM/TWRP get's to 90% and dies. I am convinced that there is no custom recovery for the 'T' version. Rooted fine with Kingroot (no init.d support on this rom). I'm also using init.d scripts support from the play store and 3ctoolbox pro to facilitate root until there is a custom rom from cm, hopefully.

Root ability after MM 6.0 update?

I've been looking around the forums to see any progress made. Saw the bounty threads but came across this on the Verizon LG V10 forum.
"rootsystem with TOT vs990 made by tungkick"
As I cannot post links cos I here am newb, just wanted feedback. I really do enjoy this phone but think it would be better with root. Anyways, I do understand that they are different phones but maybe same method would apply? My phone has the unlocked boot loader but recovery cannot be flashed to gain root. Not trying to drone on here but just curious.. Thanks!

That is the rooted official MM update for our phone. It's not lollipop. If you updated via the kdz or ota, then your stuck waiting for root like others that did it that way. AutoPrime is working on root so hopefully it's just a matter of time.

I read an article about it too. Not sure if any link was posted though. Chainfire is well known so you might be able to Google him and find his stuff.
Edit: I found this and it has a link to the download. I know people where asking about it but I haven't heard if anyone tried it. Supposedly it keeps root and custom recovery intact when you upgrade via ota. Don't know if it would help in your case since you are already on MM. You can check it out and see.

Back when I was using a Moto Cliq the Devs found a way to flash a custom recovery using the stock recovery. I was wondering if theres any chance that will still work.
The file was named update.zip and it would flash it.. Just a simple reboot back to recovery and there it was.

Like I said, I think it's more for preserving root and custom recovery during an ota update. I have seen stuff like that done in recent years, I think something like that is how they got root and custom recovery on the Verizon G4 last year.

I just want root for getting rid of bloat and spyware. I talked to a friend who works at TMob and he says reason it's getting harder to root is because unless you buy the phone outright, it's a lease. He mentioned that the JUMP program isn't really profitable, hence all this difficulty. Patience is a virtue...Pfft.

To be fair im already rooted and on MM Rom by Eliminater74.
But I tried FlashFire to see if it'll work.
Downloaded an earlier TWRP build and renamed it to recovery.img and it flashed fine.
The app needs root for it to work. Now maybe this will work for those that have root but no custom recovery..Im not too sure. Also not sure if the app is also searching if it has a locked or unlocked bootloader.
Im not positive if the fastboot command to flash a recovery is blocked on MM but its flashable using FlashFire.

But you are not on an factory updated MM firmware - right? Your present MM is a custom rom mimicking MM. If yes, that's why you did not lose root...On factory MM update it is not possible to flash recovery either way...

I didnt update via LG Bridge or OTA but
Its not mimicking MM. Its a Rom but its TMobiles official 20e update.
But I was just testing to see if it will work for flashing a recovery.img after MM.
Not for losing or gaining root.
Thats why having patience paid out for me. Everyones quick to have the latest and greatest not knowing the consequences it will have.
Now if we can get a root injected 20e .kdz or .tot file and flash it with LG tool or bridge (or how ever the other versions of the V10 gained root)
Then unlock bootloader
Theres a chance FlashFire will get TWRP to flash.
Just need a root injected 20e .kdz or .tot

What's with people saying Eliminator74's rom is mimicking MM? His 20E rooted rom is the official T-Mobile update. His Korean port is the one that mimicks MM. I'm not trying to start anything, just trying to clear things up. If people update via OTA or use LG Bridge, they are on the official 20E MM software. If people update using Eliminator74's stock rom, they are on the official 20E MM software. Hope this helps clear any misunderstandings about it. [emoji106]

I haven't update to MM yet. It downloaded to my phone early Tuesday morning and has been sitting there nagging me to update. I am still on stock rooted Lollipop with the latest unofficial TWRP for the our V10. I'm debating on trying Flashfire. Chainfire is an excellent dev and has done and continues to do great things for the Android community so it's possible he is heading in the right direction. All of our great devs are working hard to crack this for people. Autoprime and The Cubed and their teams worked hard to figure out root for the G4 even after other devs and users had given up on that device. Have no fear, our devs will figure this out, you just have to have some patience, it will happen. [emoji2]

[emoji2]

There's that "patience" word again lol..
I do know my bootloader is unlocked because of the "corruption" message when it boots up..but I would rather wait till something solid is worked out like previous posters have said.

Nope I did a dirty flash and Don't forget to flash root.
Thanks dudeawesome. I'll be moving this to the front of my flashing queue. I just dirty flashed 10r and Magisk from 10j a couple of days ago and was planning on flashing mk2000, KCAL, Zachary's mods, and Magisk iYTBP this evening.
Hello. Thanks for offering this, dudeawsome. Any chance of a debloated version?

Would there be any issues running an older mk2000 kernel with 10s? I feel like I should wait on either this or mk2000 for now.
Currently on alpha ROM with Xposed. I know this doesn't have weta mods so my question is if dirty flash is OK? Also wanted to request if you have time for a deodexed version?️. Thanks for this easy update ?️?️

It's sad, this phone don't have that much deving going on anymore and I personally love phone (the nifty second screen features not found in any other phone makes me not understand...even LG was so confused they removed it...). Again sad that so many left it...
Well, thanks OP for bringing updates to rooted users we need it bad

LG's great at following HTC's footsteps from five years ago in throwing a bunch of crap at the wall and seeing what sticks, only to abandon most of their power-user-friendly ideas in favor of becoming a generic also-ran that can't keep up with the Chinese, never mind Samsung. They've done one dumb thing after another starting with the G4 and they managed to get lucky once with the V20.
Even then, they still screwed up with the V20 by not selling it in Europe or marketing aggressively everywhere else when the irons (and the batteries) were hot. How the hell do you botch a product offering when your biggest competitor served lithium-ion flambé for that flagship's generation? LG Mobile is a three-ring circus.
Does this update the firmware as well (modem, bootloader, etc)?

[RECOVERY][UNOFFICIAL] TWRP 3.2.1.0 for the Idol 4

Hi all, I really wish I had been able to build this myself but alas, I don't have anyone to spoon feed me the knowledge to get me through a full build. Luckily I was able to find a talented group of people who were able to build the newest TWRP for us from scratch using my Stock Idol 4- 6055U Recovery. So credits for this new build go to TWRP Builder Team for putting this together and I guess credits to me for taking the time to hunt down some dang support for our phone, lol. Anyways, here it is, and please enjoy.
If you enjoy or are thankful for this or anything else that I've done, please hit the thanks button

There are no "Custom" roms out yet for this phone. If I had the knowhow, i'd be on it. All that's available are 2 roms based on stock. There is shinjitsu rom based on the 6077K model and there is cricketrom built from the 6055U model. Shinjitsu rom was a good start but hasn't been updated since it was released. Cricketrom is updated as needed when I can find the time. I plan to add languages back since that is the number one question I've had and show box will be updated. PLanned release in the next couple days as long as I don't have issues figuring out what files i removed that were languages.
Does DATA partition decrypt for anyone? Even can't mount usb otg. Flashed over TWRP APP. Seem to be non operational...
you have to start over with the stock rom and install newest TWRP. That seems to be an issue sometimes and I'm not sure why. My fiances phone did that but not mine. I reflashed hers with stock and started over and when I flashed TWRP all was fine again.
