[Q] Recommended wireless chargers - G3 Accessories

Hi guys! I've been eyeing a wireless charger for a while now. I have the D855 which includes Qi wireless charging capabilities
.
Last time I purchases a generic charger for the Note 2 it got really hot for my liking.
I've had an eye for this one... Aukey N12:
http://www.aukey.com/product/wireless-charger-n12
Unfortunately I can only find this one on eBay Australia:
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=171730898638&alt=web
But it's $80+ down to $6.99 which is concerning.
So are there better alternatives (I assume there are heaps)?
Thanks!! [emoji4]

Will wireless chargers charge through some/all cases or covers?
It would be a pain to have to keep removing a cover (for example gel or plastic one) to be able to charge, espeically for those that are a really tight fit.

The Nokia wireless charges work flawlessly

The Nokia one is great but hard to find cheap.
Try the WCD-100 which is from LG and you can get it from Ebay for under $40-50. It works perfectly with the LG G3 (with a case). You just need to make sure you have a 1.5Amp USB charger as the WCD-100 doesn't come with a wall plug, just the USB cable.

I have several wireless chargers, the ones I like best are the Itian desktop charger and the Ikea Desk lamp charger. I have the Itian at work and the Ikea on my nightstand next to my bed. I need to put some clear rubber "feet" on the Ikea charger for easier alignment, and maybe find a way to add the charger for my G Watch R, but both work well. I should also add a disclaimer that I have only used the Ikea charger with the LG quick circle case, bit the Itian worked with the thinner cases, not so much with the leather book case (plastic and leather between the phone and charger)

@Aid777
It really depends on how thick it is. I reckon <4-5mm will be able to. I hope to get one soon and I'll let you know when I do.

Excellent!! GNOTE Desktop USB Cradle Dual Charger (Killer $15 Bux! )

First let me make it clear...
This is strictly a recomendation for fellow Note owners.
I do not have anything to do with sales or anything near..
Wanted to share good stuff for as I really truly find these to be awesome.!
I just received (2) of these from AMAZON. Only $15 bux a pop. Ya Cant Beat It!
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006L9K16W/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details
Dual USB / AC Plug Desktoop Charger.
Charges via AC while SYNCS USB (leave single or both jacks plugged in)
Bothwork together. Comes w/AC Adapter. Cradle has built in USB cable (so cant lose it!)
Very tiny footprint. Fairly Sturdy. Phone does not tip over.
I actually place one in the ashtray dashboard of my car (wired USB)
Easy feel ... for locking phone on and off of cradle (thats important!!! )
They are the most ALTERNATIVE affordable pricing compared to the OEM desktop chargers which in my opinion are not that good and are about $50 bux or so.
Support Car / Home docking software when phone docked.
Only Con is...BRIGHHHHHTTT blue LED light. Extremely bright.
Had to place a piece of black tape over LED
Thought I would share the 411.
Its hard to find a good alternative these days.....
Thanks for sharing this, just ordered two alongside the OEM Sammy car mount.
Thanks for sharing! Just ordered mine.
How quick does it charge?
Thanks for the tip. Just ordered one that I want to use to make a custom dock that I can fit in my cup holder in my car, as this phone is too big for my cup holders and that's where I like to keep my phone when driving. Was looking for a good/cheap dock, so thanks again for reporting back on the quality of this one. Definitely a nice price. Free shipping with amazon prime too.
how snug fit it is on the back? is there any room for the case? Will it fit if I have a thin case on?
I see that they also have the one with spare battery charger for $2 more. Interesting.
Hmmm you could probably MHL output while also USB host moding a keyboard/ mouse with this. Gonna buy one to give it a shot
Does it fit when i have a TPU case?
Actually the Samsung OEM dock is great. It's $40 at the ATT store. But I paid $20 with my premiere account.
I bought another on ebay as a back up, but haven't received it yet from here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/220923137856?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_3363wt_1270
This does not actually come with the charger does it? \ Igt says can be used with charger that came with note.
Im confused. \/
so sorry for the delayed response! yes this desktop charger comes with one ac adapter in addition to a usb cable that is a cable built into the charger itself.
it allows you to keep the phone plugged into to both pc & ac wall at the same time with out the need to switch cables
it has a overload protection so no fear of charging burnouts.
it is definetely a snug tight fit onto the cradle itself. never worries about falling over or lose connections. i can say it works super super tight . real happy w/purchase.

Caseology Case works with Qi Charging.

I have to confirm that the Caseology case (below) and the Powerbot Qi charger (below) work together. It's nice not having to remove my case to charge my phone anymore! :good:
I have to remind everyone that the case does not come with the special charging sticker the LG G3 needs to to have wireless charging. I bought that sticker online from China (Amazon) and installed it myself to the back cover the LG G3 came with. The other external cases I had did not allow the phone to charge wirelessly, so I was forced to remove them before placing on the charging pad.

Ravpower Qi Car Charger Review

Hey guys!
Thought I would post a review for this Qi wireless car charger since I didn't see much info about it and help those in deciding one for their car.
I have been using this Qi wireless car charger for about 4 months. The weather here is summer now so the car interior does get super hot, and so far this charger has been working like a champ in the heat.
The charger comes with a bunch of accessories which include:
-Vent adapter holder
-Traditional suction cup stand holder for dashboards
-Micro Usb cable
-Usb car chager (1 input)
-Sticky pads for wire management
I used the suction cup on my dash since my vents in my car are not ideal for my setup. The Qi charger is made hard sturdy black plastic and the section where you place your phone is made of a softer grippy rubber that holds the Nexus 6 very well. There is button on the back that release the two arm clamps. The Nexus 6 being a big of a device I thought it would be a tight fit, but I am happy to report that there is plenty of space. I have a Caseology Case and still a bit of extra room on the dock. So for those with thicker cases than mine can still fit, but in terms of it charging through a thicker case is something I do not have to test, but for those familiar with my case which I will put a link on the bottom of this post, my phone charges perfectly fine with it. Also the Qi charging unit in this has a 3 coil system so placement is not an issue and wireless charging is maximized and efficient as possible. There is a LED light on the bottom that indicates if it idle or charging, Green means idle and Blue means charging. The cradle of the charger is very sturdy and holds the Nexus with ease, have not had it drop my phone (yet) and hopefully stays that way. I use the charger everyday for the past 4 months and yet to encounter an issue, remember I am using it 95 degree weather for the past 4 months and it has not died on me yet. Once winter comes I will update on how it handles the cold, hopefully like a champ as it does in the summer! I attached some pictures for everyone to have a better look at it. Overall I am very happy with this charger and highly recommended!
Any questions about this product let me know and I will try my best to answer and help!

Can you try in front window and let us know how it works? When I get my phone it's going to be a window mount and since I'll have to use an OTG adapter for long distance that means I'll have to use wireless charging.

If you mean having the suction cup on the windows then yes it works even better cause the surface on the glass gives it an even better grip.

Case for the S8 that is compatible with wireless charging and magnetic car mount.

Hello,
Im lokking for the case that does it all. That you can use on a magnetic car mount and also on a wireless charger stand.
I bought these one, https://store.exelium.net/en/galaxy-s8/189-galaxy-s8-wireless-charging-case.html
And it does all of that perfectly, but the case it self i dont like it because it feels and is slippery on the hands.
Do you know of something similar? or have any recomendation?
Thanks.
I just bought this:

I can confirm that wireless charging works with the case on. I also just ordered the magnetic mount, just waiting on it to arrive.

Here's a post with pics:

I don't think any wireless charger will work through the little piece of metal needed for the magnetic stand/holder. If you find a way, please let me know.

The Pitaka case works with wireless charging and magnetic mount. I think the metal in the case is shaped like a ring which allows wireless charge to pass through.
Slightly off topic. Has anyone been able to find a good wireless charger for the car? Air vent chargers have unsightly cables in the car which I really tend to avoid. What I would ideally like is a wireless charger that is like a cup holder style, has a sticky pad on and is quick charge compatible.
I just dont get why there is a gap in the market for something like that.
Once again, wishlist:
1. Cup holder style wireless charger
2. Sticky pad so that the phone stays in place (Can consider magnetic as well, but will need a case with that)
3. Quick charge
4. Hide wires somewhere

Wireless Charging for 3a XL

I wanted to have wireless charging on my 3a XL to prevent wear and tear on the charging port. I charge once a day using USB cable and I realize if I will do this everyday there is a risk of damaging the charging port. Although it did not happen on my previous Android phones, i still wanted to be cautious as i like the 3a XL so much and planning to do upgrade after 3yrs or so.
I was able to get a Nilkin Qi Wireless charging receiver and Anker Qi charging pad. The receiver fits OK on my Poetic rugged armor case. I can now do wireless charging without hassle!
Cool that you got this working.
I will say that according to the breakdown guides that I saw on the 3a series, the USB port is actually modular. So if it did break for some reason (I agree with you that it is a pretty rare, but not unfathomable, thing to happen) it should be super simple to replace. No soldering needed. Just pull the old module out and replace with a new module. https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Google+Pixel+3a+Teardown/123256
I wonder if those steel plates they sell, so that the phone will stick to magnetic mounts, would work if placed between the Qi charging adapter and the phone...?

It won't and you could risk a fire from the heat that gets pumped into the metal
