[Q] Can't set up UPNP from PC to Android via Kodi.tv - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
i recently bought a fire tv stick and while looking forward to use it I just wanted to test kodi.tv
So i installed the Kodi Windows Center and the app on my Android 4.4.4.
I did go trough step by step like it's said on Kodi.wiki
But my phone does not recognize the server, just a blank window.
Any ideas what may be wrong?
- Kodi's allowed in windows firewall.
- All permissions are allowed via xprivacy.
- Same network
- library is set

[Q] Samba woes with Win7

Hello, I'm trying to access my UrukDroid 1.6RC2 from a Win7 desktop.
Samba is disabled in the UrukConfig and when I turn it on it just gives error. However the one time I did get to to work was when I had it turned off and used the Samba app that was included with UrukDroid. By just enabling it I managed to get some files across from the Win7. I tried enabling a custom pass but that proved useless seeing I was able to just access the share without needing one.
Reset that, then gave up on it for a few days then tonight I tried the same thing and somehow the share doesn't show up under Network in Win7 so no way to even access it...
Anyone have any answers or advice? This is a shame cause I love me some Samba.
well im not sure waht urukconfig is doing for samba.
But if u wanna know how to start:
U can ALWAYS setup each service manualy without UrukConf.
To get started - read the sama man pages - or some general linux samba howto - its anolog to the android versions...
Anywy if u just want to figure out what's wrong with the urkukconfig-samba - start a terminal-session on your archos (or use ssh from win7) and browse to /etc/uruk.conf and /etc/uruk.d wich hold the configuration and the startup files for the UD services.
To debug simplay run the samba script in /etc/uruk.d/ and check for the error output
if u don't knwo what the error means - report it here - or even better: use google
good luck

[Q] ES File Explorer and Windows 7

Here is my setup:
Nexus 7 2013 and Samsung Galaxy S4, both running ES File Explorer 3.0.5.3
Windows 7 x64 Pro (Hosting the files)
ASUS RT-AC66U
The system works just fine after a fresh reboot of my PC. After a few hours, I get the "Login Fails" error (plain text or SMB). The only way to fix it is to reboot my PC. I believe its a Windows 7 setting that causing this. I searched all over the net for a fix and none of them worked. I tried:
Enabling Guest Account
Changed Advanced Sharing Settings
Set "Everyone" as read in the File Share Window
Enabled Inbound/Outbound rules in the Advanced Windows Firewall
Enabled sending unencrypted passwords to SMB via Local Security Policy
I can go into more detail of the fixes I tried if needed. What is an alternative to sharing files from a Windows 7 machine to Android devices? I feel like Ill never get ES File Explorer to work. Thanks.
Try the AntTek Explorer. I have 3 machines running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and a server running Windows Server 2008 x64, a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition, a Samsung Galaxy S4, a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, a Google Nexus 7, and a Samsung Galaxy S3. I'm using the Asus RT-AC66U as my main router and have a Linksys EA4500 and a Drink 5ghz single band both running in bridge mode and a Western Digital Wireless AC Repeater. All my mobile devices I've been able to setup the Asus under the network settings using AntTek as a my file browser. Also install AiCloud, which not only let's you access and stream music/videos when you're on the network, but you can stream from the USB drive remotely and connect to any computer on your network to share files or stream data.

I have this same exact issue with one of my computers, but the other computer always works fine.
Not sure what Windows setting is causing this issue.
This issue only applies to android devices where it will start giving login failed after a few hours, but other windows PC can still access those folders.

[Q] Samba network share issue - Windows

Hi there,
I've got a strange problem with my Samba filesharing on Android.
On my Nexus 4 I'm using latest AOPK ROM and I tried several samba servers (Samba filesharing; SambaDroid; Samba Server) - of course not simultanously. With all apps I've got the problem, that although I can see and connect to the Nexus via Windows and I can see the shared folder "SDCARD" but I can't access the folder.
Username and password are correct since I can connect to the device and see the folder.
I get network error 0x80070043 an Windows 7. I already activated "Send LM & NTLM -- use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated" for “
Network Security: LAN Manager” in the LocalPolicies and set encryption level below 128bit.
On my OnePlusOne everthing works fine. The only differences in configuration are that the OPO has CM11 running and there is XPosedFramework with XPrivacy on the Nexus. But all rules are deaktivated for the Samba servers in XPrivacy. I installed XPrivacy after the error occured for the first time anyway.
I couldn't find any special rules for the right management regarding the storage in the AOKP ROM.
Any ideas what is going wrong or what I'm missing?

Android Media Box V88 - problem

Hi to all,
it is my first time to write here. I have bought one V88 android media player (5.1.1) for testing purpose, for Digital Signage player, and when i have installed the software it works good, but after restart device, there was not auto start of application like on other devices, i was needed to start it manually. I try some other programs like TeamViewer Host, the same problem. I think there is no root but in app list there are SuperSU (not working when i try). I try with many programs like Autostart to configure the Digital Signage app, but no success.
Some ideas ?

Android 5 Write Access

Hi,
i have this simple configuration.
Philips Andoird TV PUS6501 (Android 5) + External HDD
PC (Windows 10)
What i want is to copy files from my PC to the HDD wich is connected to the TV.
I heard this was possible with Android KitKat but since Android Lollipop the function is gone.
I heard what i want is possible if i get root and set up a Samba Server (wtf never done something like that before)
I heard root is possible but only temporary (with the dirty cow script) but i didnt find any tutorial for my TV nor did i recive any help in the Philips Android TV Thead.
So what can I do to get write access when the HDD is still connected to the TV?

Share the files on your PC and use X-plore or ES file manager to copy the files from one to the other. Another possibility is using something like Cetus Play on the TV side. It can set up a simple web server that will accept uploaded files.
