Hey buddy! Welcome to XDA. Most of the moto e users have moved on to android 5.0 because motorola has officialy released the software update (seehere). You will recieve the update notification when you update your 'motorola update services' from google playstore. The other option to upgrade to lollipop is to 'root' your phone and then installing a custom ROM like CyanogenMod 12.1 (mind you, this process will void your guarantee). Coming to second part of your question, soak test is a procedure where manufacturers release update to only a few selected people (those who have registered themselves for this test). They then ask for their feedbacks and comments and make additional changes in the update if necessary. Only then the update is released to the masses, which is happening right now for moto e. If you want to install lollipop right now, then you can download the soak test zip file and then install it (you don't need to root or void your guarantee for this procedure).

Updated that app called "update services" yet no updates found. I had rooted my old moto e and flashed cm12.1 and then replaced it, but this phone shows no update on stock! :-/

That's actually your build number, which is fine. You need to look at your system version. It should be something like 6.11.744.XT910 or something along those lines.
Check that and report back.
the version is 651.73.19.XT910.NonEFIGSRetail.en.EU

you don't have an update yet.
The recent update for the XT910 was only for the 651.73.15, .16, .17, .18 versions.
It looks like Bulgaria is not on the list, and it might be because of the language on the phone.
The update was recent, December 31st, so you may see it being sent OTA soon, but for now, it looks like you're up to date.
Thanks. So for now I cant put any roms ?
Hi, Just received my new Razr today in U.K. Had OTA update to 651.73.30.en.eu. All downloaded fine.
Cheers.

No, you should be able to still put ROM's on there.
Just to make sure, you're rooted, right??
I believe there are no fastboot files yet for the .19 version, at least that's what I was reading, so instead of just straight loading a ROM on top of this, I would go the safestrap route. This will allow you to load a secondary ROM and access both.
My understanding is while the .18 & .19 versions are different, they're not so different it will block you from loading a ROM.
It should be the same process as ever, root, safestrap, then enable safestrap mode, and flash the ROM.
If you get an error, report back and let me know what it is, and I MIGHT be able to help you through it.

just install motocast on your PC, plug your RAZR in and check for device updates and it will update your device to xxxxx.30 version...works for all people I gave advice to...and I previously had xxxxx.19 version...I am from Europe-Czech republic
better performance and battery is now usable for 2 whole days with wifi on...

Follow the downgrade instructions, root it, bootstrap it and use all the roms you want. I think that's what you need to do.

Upgrade to JB from rooted, unlocked, stock 10o version without LGNPST

I was on stock ICS but rooted and unlocked and on software version 10o and wanted to update to JB but was reluctant to do LGNPST so I tried this and it worked for me so hopefully it will help some of you out.
Reading some of the forum posts, I understood that JB update won't remove root but if you have unlocked bootloader it errors out so:
First Step (locking the bootloader) :
Used FreeGee paid app from play store to restore my backup (which I believe locks the bootloader)
Second Step (Contact AT&T)
I contacted the technical support through the online chat option and told them that I would like the JB update but I am on version 10o. He told me to first connect my phone to wifi to be able to receive the updates. He was able to push 11c update to my phone which I installed and rebooted the phone. Checked that my root stayed intact using the Titanium Backup.
Third Step (Reset the update clock)
When I checked for a software update after upgrading to 11c, it told me to wait 24 hours so I went into TiBu to clear the olam data but it did not detect a new update so I advanced my clock to April 8, checked for update and it started downloading the update. Changed the clock back to today's date.
After that the phone downloaded the update, it rebooted, installed firmware, installed software and updated the android apps (48 something) and now I am on JB.
Hope this helps someone who was in similar situation.
I assume you still have root? Did you also unlock it with freegee after Jb?

Yes. I still have root. I have not tried unlocking with freegee after JB but the change log said it unlocks after at&t JB update so I think it should work.
Is there a specific keyword you are using to tell the customer service rep? I called 611 and they said they do not have any ability to push any update to any particular phone. They said that you just have to wait.

I prefer to chat.. so I just went to the technical support chat directly but they can definitely push an update to you. I didn't specifically ask for 11c update but I told them that I am on 10o and trying to update. I have found the chat more useful than phone.
Just got off the chat with the same results. Oh well. Hopefully it gets rolled out here soon. For reference I'm in Seattle.

I think when I was chatting with the rep, one of things he copy pasted in the chat window said that the customer needs to be on 11c to be eligible for JB update. May be try chatting with them again and ask them to push 11c update to you. I should have taken the screenshot of the chat window.
Just use lgnpst to get on 11c. G33k3r released the 11c file last night after I discovered you needed to be on 11c to receive the update. Lgnpst didn't effect your warranty so your good to go.

So i'm omn E97011c android 4.0.4 on a rooted phone.. once i click update software it will find JB and update.. i'll still have root when it's done?
Thx!
Couldn't wait any longer and just gave in. Used LGNPST to flash to 11c that was provided in the other thread. After that was upgraded I immediately got notified for the JB update. All my data was retained and nothing was lost in the process.
Thanks to the IRC channel for the help.

Yes, you will still have root. If you have unlocked the bootloader, you should lock/restore them before updating.

Because!! It is enough to read forum. (I do not comment 'hints' from @Frezi Evan who do not understand even what people are asking...)
You were violating producer's rules making root and you are void your warranty. Now you expect so you will have official OTA? Look in settings what is the status of your phone! It is NOT official so you can not count on official upgrades.

As I can see you solve problem all by yourself . Yes, if you are on custom then you can not take OTA. Deactivating root probably will be not enough, but you can try. If not work - then you will have to flash anew stock ROM by Odin and in this manner you will have system like new - this means all your user data will be deleted - make backup of your apps.
But in my opinion there is little need to worry about upgrades until it KitKat (that menas Android 4.4) arrive. Now Mega has Android 4.2 and every new upgrade brings very little besides new means of security (like KNOX).
So let stay like that a while and wait for major uprade to KK. And if so, let consider to flash MegaFire v8 ROM from @megalomanic14

Those two roms are for the mega 6.3 only and will not work on the mega 5.8 as you have to go by the codename for each device and this codename will be in the title of the rom.
Mega 6.3 uses the codename "melius"
Mega 5.8 uses the codename "crater"
So make sure you see one of these codenames in the rom title or on the end of title..were ever they put it as this determines the device it can be flashed on and what model will also be shown in the title.

I had one also. Didnt care about losing root since it is easy to re-do. I took the OTA however it failed to install with "error". It put me back to my previous build and that was it. Update doesnt show as being available anymore. Oh well...
In order for the ota to work you need to be on the stock recovery, kernel and system files. Make sure you're on those and the ota works fine

I've read of WiFi issues, lags and general hiccups with the new OTA. To be fair, most of the issues I read about were with older Nexus device (5, 7 and 10). I'll go ahead and upgrade with my fingers crossed...
Reverting to stock
I also rooted but have gained zero benefit this early on. Are the factory images out and is that the best way to be able to take the update?
Thanks for any help!

I had the same error.
Using the stock recovery diddent fix it for me.
I just downloaded the latest factory image from google.
And manualy flashed it to my nexus 9.

Look up the vid were he updates to the q update.
Just replace the files he uses with the latest factory image files from google.
What's interesting is that even with the error my system says it is on R now. I then rooted again and my tablet seems to be running fine. I debated just wiping it out and flashing the stock image, I'll do that if I ruin into any strange problems...

Hello sorry to bother you guys I'm absolutely new at all of this but I love these kind of things I think it's very interesting. Anyhow I recently rooted my 4.4.4kitkat Samsung
Galaxy E7 SM-E700M my carrier is At&T Mexico was Nextel but they sold to At&T. The reason I rooted my phone was because I wanted to upgrade to the marshmello 6. Something don't recall I don't know anything about custom Rom or about recovery or flashing can anyone please tell me how I can upgrade to marshmello free without having to join some kind of phone club that charges you for the firmware download. And can you please tell me exactly what recovery is recommended to use for my E7. I installed rom Manager pro on my phone and super su,
Titanium back up pro busybox but don't know how to use any of it just know it's required for an update. On rom manager it asks me what recovery do I want to use clockwaremod or trpwin recovery or something like that I don't know what to put can anyone send me the links and sources for the upgrade and tools needed also step by step how to upgrade to marshmello please. One last Question I seen on a list of upgrades they received a lollipop upgrade ota or via custom rom in Brazil for E7 my phone does the country matter? I mean can I use an update from another country? Well I'm positive you pros know what your doing and will send me all the correct info for my phone upgrade by the way I can't use ota upgrade since I rooted? Don't know how. Thanks everyone for your time and patience
