KFHDX keeps going to language select screen - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Hello,
I have a weird one. I had rooted my KFHDX and turned off OTA, etc. Worked great for a long time. Google Services had updated and I kept getting the Google Services has stopped error. I got sick of it and decided to start over, so I performed a factory reset. After doing this setup doesn't really finish properly. It has me choose my network then log into Amazon. It says it can't reach the internet. It then goes in anyway and my Kindle stuff starts loading. after a bit on the main screen, the Kindle will go back to the language select screen. I pick my language and then it goes back the main screen only to return to the language select screen. I have to shut the Kindle down and turn it back on. If I go into settings fast enough it won't go back to the language screen. I still have root and access to ADB. Any suggestions on how I can get it back to normal. Or at least get rid of the stupid language settings screen?

It is corruption in your otter launcher. I get that every once in a while. Install an alternate launcher and if you do not need the native one, you could disable otter and may be fine. Sometimes, it is a sign all of my native apps are corrupted. When that happens I erase and deregister, then re register, and it works fine. Note, there is some risk to erasing and deregistering. By the way, it does not wipe the internal storage, so titanium backup is your friend.

Thanx for the reply. I think I got it. I updated the Kindle to 14_3_2_5, reinstalled all the Xposed and such apps and blocked OTA updates. Seems to be running fine. Now I just need to reinstall GAPPS (version that actually works).

[Q] Stock 1.2 Boot Issue with Alternative Home Screen

I searched fairly extensively and could not find an answer. I sure hope that I am not the only one that has ever had the problem.
This is one I think I caused myself.
I loaded Go Launcher and was trying it out on the tablet. This is one that I use on the phone and would likely use on the tablet as well. I did not check the "Always Use for this Operation" when hitting the home screen as I was still organizing and making my transition.
At one point I rebooted. unit now boots through the birds, g tablet screen, and the Tap n Tap, but stays at the n portion of the Tap n Tap. I have waited for up to 30 minutes and no change.
My theory is that it does not know which home screen to activate and is basically waiting with a response without a prompt. Other Android devices that I have used don't seem to have this issue, so this is confusing.
I have not yet rooted and had planned on staying that way for some time. I am wondering if anyone has had this issue and been successful in resolving without NVFlash? Anyone have suggestions on removing Go Launcher without full boot?
You can try booting into recovery and Wipe user Cache only. If don't have CWR for the 1.2 boot then you can get that and side load it off of the external SD Card through the stock recovery. Google search or even these forums are your best bet.
Thanks. The cache only didn't work. I did a factory default reload. Not my preferred route as I had to spend some time reloading applications, screens, etc., but I am up and running at least.
I confirmed the issue. A word to the wise, always select the "Always Use" option if you have more than one launcher installed with the stock Tap n Tap ROM.

Suddenly my Rezound hangs all the time

At first I thought my problems stemmed from an update with WidgetLocker. However, I uninstalled that and the problems persist.
Description of problem:
So I boot the device to the lock screen.
I unlock the phone and all I see is my background with the taskbar at the top. No icons. I can't interact with anything. After a few seconds the screen goes dim and times out. Even if I touch the screen to keep this from happening.
I hit the power button to turn the screen back on. No response. I wait 30 seconds or so and it turns back on. I am greeted with "xxxx process/program has stopped responding do you want to force quit, wait, or send a report" (whatever program happens to be up, doesn't seem to matter, all programs cause this to happen). If I hit force quit the program still hangs. If I hit "wait" the program starts working. This isn't a very repeatable event in that sometimes when I turn the screen back on instead of the "force quit" screen I get the background with taskbar.
While all this is going on I am still receiving status updates, emails, texts, etc. Sometimes I can get to the point where icons appear on my homescreen but if I tap a program's icon the screen just freezes.
I have Go Launcher installed but this happens in Go Launcher or Sense.
Any ideas what is going on? So far I've:
restarted
removed battery
restarted without back on
restarted without sim card in
No luck.
I tried "restore" but after being shown green arrows and an icon of the device I immediately get an icon of the device and a red exclamation in a triangle.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm trying to avoid a hard reset.
I would run the RUU. I know you don't want to wipe, but I would back up your data as best you can and wipe it.
any recommendations for backing up? I can't really get to any apps right now.
What does RUU mean?
ROM update utility. Stock rom releases from HTC.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1338916
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
well
I ran the phone down to 0% battery. Restarted it and things seemed ok. But just now it is starting to hang again so going to back it up and run that RUU.
I tried the RUU but was told it could not communicate with my phone even though I had it plugged in via usb.
Instead of installing the RUU I installed one of the leaked ICS updates (official one for the rezound). Now it functions somewhat better. There is still often a long wait between pressing home while in an application and going to the home screen. Also while the screen is off, pressing the power button to turn the screen on I have to wait a good minute for the screen to come back on. Any idea what in the world is going on?
Sounds weird. Anyway, here are a couple thoughts:
When you installed the ICS leak, did you do a complete wipe of everything? If not, do it and reinstall whatever ROM you like.
Otherwise, in recovery, wipe cache and dalvik again. While you're in Recovery, it wouldn't hurt to run Fix Permissions.
HTH - Good luck!
I did a factory reset to the ics rom.
How do I clear cache and what is dalvik.
I'm going to download one of the official rezound 2.3 update toms and flash it. If that doesn't work ill take it to a Verizon store and see what they can do. It is under warranty.
I've noticed that apps function fine the problem is getting to and from the home screens. It's then that the phone freezes up for a minute or so.
Ok was going to reset phone to 2.3 but got the main version error so going to try this trick to get the main version down to where I can "upgrade" to 2.3:

Everything get worked out?
I can't get temp root to work so I can install superuser. Working on that now.
seems ICS leak has no temp root ability. I've reached the end of my road as I don't know where to go from here.

[Q] LG Vortex

Alrighty then. I had some issues with this phone, its a few years old but I just took it out of the box for my daughter a couple months ago. There was some problems with running out of memory, so I was going to do a hard reset and clean the thing up. BTW I had rooted it and used and uninstaller off play store to get rid of the crap verizon apps. Just the junk ones I deleted, like navigator, and kindle etc... nothing OS related I thought. At any rate, when I went to do the factory reset, it goes through the motions, gets to the congratulations your device is ready to use click next, after I hit next I get an error that setup.android has unexpectedly stopped please try again. The phone seems to boot, but there is no home screen. No way to access anything to see whats going on. Just the status bar on top. I've tried everything I can think of. ANy ideas?? Thanks

Random System Applications failing on the device (Malware?)

It has been almost 2 years since I have this rooted phone, and now it seems to fail.
First the google play store failed, (I have uninstall updates and it worked fine once again) then next gallery has failed, did the same thing above it worked fine again, now was the launcher it's self I once again did the same thing. however, this kept happening on almost system installed apps and a few downloaded ones, untill the com.android.systemui has failed and I can't do anything else other than have to click "OK" on the dialogue box.
I'm clueless what happened on my device, I may have a malware/virus on the device destroying all the system apps slowly.
EDIT:
I tried booting the device into safemode and it seems to work fine.
Now sure what to do next..
Booting the device normally still works, but some system elements like the taskbar is not working right, the lock screen also disappeared and the touch buttons on the device isn't working either.
EDIT:
Booted back to safemode once again and now it's the same as above, taskbar refuse to work right lock screen disappeared and touch buttons remains unresponsive. however, I can brows though the launcher and launch settings up, I just can't go back or to home.

Moto X Play stuck in setup wizard loop

Hello, I cannot access my phone at all and it is driving me insane
Some context, a lot of Moto X Play phones have this thing where once the internal storage gets full, the phone goes crazy, the navigation buttons don't work, you can't swipe down for the notification bar, you can't receive or make calls.
I read of a fix that involved using Nova launcher, and using the Activities widget to link SetupWizardTestActivity which opens the Set up wizard and usually fixes the phone
However I've stupidly let my phone get full again and this method has stopped working for me. I am completely stuck in the phone 'welcome' setup loop and cannot get into my phone at all.
What happens is I press next once selecting my language, then I get onto the Wifi setup page which can only be skipped if you have a mobile connection working. This setup process cannot be done with no connection. If I press skip/have a SIM in, it gives me the privacy page which I accept, then puts me on the Add your Google account page. Now if I type in my account, it tells me 'This account already exists on your device'. If I try to make a new one, it leads me through some pages and eventually tells me I must sign in with the account I used when I first set up the phone, which it does not let me.
If I skip the Google account setup page, it just loops me back onto the Privacy page.
I've tried it in safe mode, I've tried wiping the cache partition, I'm not factory resetting the phone.
Thanks to whoever can help me.

Why don't you take a backup using adb? After that you can factory reset your phone.
Use a external SD card as your default write disk after reset.
