Yeah, I though the same.
But de-odex can make it easier to modify the ROM, it's the only reason to change.
The virtual machine, in this case ART, is certainly going to load a little slower the apps but I guess it's only at the first app boot.
BTW, (to the OP) aren't you supposed already to make the download available?
