[Q] Guys I need help - Samsung Galaxy Mega

I just got my Samsung Galaxy mega 2 sm-g750a and I can't find any info on rooting it I'm running ubuntu 14.04 on my desktop so any info or links will help thanks

I also got the same model sm-g750a. Locked bootloader and no one else on xda has one. Laugh.
I think we would have to use a safestrap method or something. But without having a rooted room to load with safestrap I don't think it will do is any good.
I like the size of this phone to fit my packet in my carpenter jeans better then the Mega 6.3.
the only fix I know right now, that I will like, is to buy a sm-g750f that has a unlocked bootloader. I may not get 4g data but 3g is fine as long as I can get root and have unlocked bootloader. Buying a sm-g750f version $300 then selling my sm-g750a version $250 I wI'll be out $50 bucks, no big deal.

Nobody on here will help
I've tried and try to get help but everyone is to good on here I think I'm going to look at other sites

Got it just now
I just now used KingRoot-4.0.0.233.apk just now on my sm-g750 [email protected] phone and I now have root also. I searched fo kingRoot-4.0.0.233.apk the first result showed something about king root on fire something phone. A little way down the thread I found the download. No computer I am sitting here at work I ran it and now have root. I searched for weeks to root this phone.

It worked
So it worked no pc

Just to be clear. No pc needed. It does work on Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 sm-750a the AT&T version that has the locked bootloader baseband and build number ending in ANL1 android version 4.4.4 . I have been searching for 2 weeks and was ready to trade in my phone. But now that I have root I am keeping it. I love xda and I am glad I could finally help someone and myself too.

What baseband/build number are you on. Are you on 4.4.4?
I am on build NL1 with android 4.4.4 .
Also have you ever accepted the security policy update?
My phone was always asking me to update the security policy and I kept saying no.
I couldn't disable the nag until yesterday when I finally got root.
I now have all updates disabled thanks to titanium backup, that only now works since I now have root.
I wonder if the difference is that you may have accepted the security policy update.
It worked right away "about 3 minutes" on my mega 2 on 4.4.4 kit kat.
I tried it on my daughter's s4 that she updated to 5.0 before I had a chance to root it with towel root. It failed to root her 5.0 lollipop.
I guess this is for kit Kat but not lollipop.

I'm running
I'm on 4.4.4
Build number KTU
Yes I took the security update but I unistalled it let me try again

No luck
That still didn't work I'm about to give up on this phone

What can I post to help you understand what I have

Here is what you can do now that you have root, go to the link below for the things I have done so far.
Add Titanium Backup to remove Bloatware.
Freeze system updates so they don't take away or root later.
Add hotspot to share your phones Internet with other devices for free.
I just wrote this new thread/post, so we can get others together to continue with more development on our currently unsupported Galaxy Mega 2.

So you went to the playstore and got wanam exposed? I am doing that right now. I had already installed xposed Installer to get the hotspot Tethering to work. Going to play with those settings now after I reboot.

I Google it and you use xposed installer

Kingoroot .....
This did the trick for me. Unfortunately it look like there still isn't any custom recoveries or roms. We're stuck with rooted stock, but guess that's better than nothing.w.androidpot.net/download/kingroot-apk-lates

[Q] Some newb questions about root with Baseband I545VRUFNK1

I currently have a Verizon Galaxy s 4 and I just updated to I545VRUFNK1 Baseband running 4.4.2. I would seriously like to root this phone as I am growing bored with it. Is there a link on how to root it and if so can someone please post a link for me. I would like to keep use of my Galaxy Gear 2, but if that is not possible I will just sell it. I apologize if this has been asked a million and one times. I had root once before but lost it with an update.
Thanks in advance and thanks to everyone for their hard work. I also wanna apologize if this is in the wrong place.
I'm a Verizon user with this same update/fix (I545VRUFNK1) on Galaxy s4 and have lost root, I tried the trusty towelroot, and now it's saying that this device isnt supported.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated, This update that samsung did for me lost my root, and threw back on all the Bloatware. It did however fix my daily random reboots (averaged 36 a day) wifi Password sticking issue, screen rotation issue.
Thanks in advance!
grr8xtc out of curiosity perhaps you could try the towel root that worked for before this newest update (I545VRUFNK1) maybe you will get lucky, and if not then we know Verizon broke it on us - here is the link that worked for me when trying to root before todays update - http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/0...ve-and-maybe-almost-any-other-current-device/

hello there. first off there is a work around to get root access for NK1. But i would like to say you are in the wrong thread posting this question on here. It should be post in the questions and answers thread. but ok getting back to your question. for you to gain root.
1.first you must downgrade your device to NC5. Try using the no wipe technique first to see if that helps for you to keep your data if not you need to wipe.
2. after you have successfully downgraded used toowel root to gain root access on your device.
3. Used muniz_ri root method to root NK1.
Well i hope this helps and here are the links.

No issues at all after using it. However, kingroot will install its own superuser app and I have not been able to replace it with supersu (It should be possible with a custom recovery).
Root works fine without supersu but you could try following these instructions after you root if you want to get rid of king root: http://www.yomitech.com/2015/02/how-to-replace-kinguser-with-supersu.html
I got root failed with king root?!?! edit: I used kingo root and that worked. You know if xposed works on this tablet.

I hope there's some development for this tablet.
Have had mine since release and I love it I own a Nexus7 2013 and it is as fast as that one , it so far has handled all the emulator games I have thrown at it like a champ I have loaded N64 games and some NDS games I got and has played them great. Also I love the fact I was able to add a 64GB micro in for extra storage well worth the 199.00$ price tag!
Got rooted with KingRoot and later replaced with SuperSu
See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61168022&postcount=30
Didn't try Xposed yet, but should work under SuperSu
Give exposed a try and let us know if it works. Thanks
I used King root and it worked just fine...until my son used it and did an update. Now it is bricked. Here's hoping that it becomes popular enough to have its own forum and someone creates a decent ROM for it.
For the price it has good (enough) resolution, color and speed.
Have you tried holding power and volume up for about 10 seconds to get into recovery and do wipe/reset?
I did. I can get into recovery, did wipe and restored factory but nothing. It looks like the files created by kingroot were not compatible with the update.
BTW sent a PM

[Q] VRUGOC1 Root

I have been searching around for quite a wile, but I havn't been able to find an answer. Perhaps someone from the community could help me.
My Galaxy S4 took the OTA update to VRUGOC1. It was not previously rooted, and I know there is no current way to root this version.
My question is this: Is there any active root development going on for this OTA update, or am I just stuck?

I just want to bump this thread to see if any new information is available
use desktop kingroot. it can root OC1, but remember that you cannot downgrade to any prior to OC1. if you're going to upgrade to OF1, use this guide by muniz
Desktop kingoot works, download latest version from their website;

Can anyone confirm this actually worked?
I can confirm that Kingroot never worked to root my phone. A ton of ppl here have said it worked on theirs. I've tried just about every way known to get Kingroot to work but it doesn't like my phone. I have tried to download it again and now Google says the site is full of malware and it really does not want me to download from that site.

Is there a way to root LG Volt 2

I just bought my LG Volt 2 a month ago, and I'm ready to make it MINE! Unfortunately, I think this phone is too new, because I can't find anything helpful on how to root it. I tried "kingroot" and after it did a few things, it said I was successfully rooted. BUT, when I started up "SuperSU" it says it has to download some things, and its never successful and informs me to restart my phone and to press the restart tab. When I press the restart tab, it says "attempting to restart phone" but it can't. I'm on the 5.1.1 operating system, and using an LG Volt 2 (LGLS751). Is there any advise out there that someone can offer me? Am I REALLY rooted? Has anyone successfully rooted this phone yet? If so please tell me where I can find the steps. I have faith that my XDA community will pull through. Thanks everyone!

Considering this is an open community, why not just post your method for finding root here like everyone else does. Then we can verify your method through duplication. We can also test your methods using different firmware versions, different scenarios (such as from stock, from partially rooted by one-click methods, from bricked, etc.).
I myself just acquired an LS751. No battery, but that is an easy fix. No FRP, so that will not be an issue. I know the person who originally owned it anyways. This phone has great potential. Please share your method so we may all benefit. We will definitely give you the full credit if your method can be verified or refined to a validated method.
I know I am quiet guys, but I have been around for a very long time in these forums. I remember when I fumbled my way into getting a Motorola Atrix 2 ROM to work on an original Motorola Atrix. I wish now I had published my methods and dealings, for the collaboration of developers in these forums brings about the greatness we see in Dirty Unicorns (Which was the ROM I used, I believe it was AOKP at the time though), Paranoid Android, etc. My experimentation would have accelerated the development process.
Please do share your findings and let us all help in developing and refining methods.

Super Simple Root Method for 35B Update!!!

After reading a post saying that there is no known root method for 35b, I set out to find one.
I am surprised to find out that rooting actually takes only five minutes, and does not require a computer.
You only need to go to http://kingroot.net/wap/ on your phone, scroll to the bottom, click download, make sure Settings -> Unknown sources is enabled, and install KingRoot apk when it is done downloading.
Open the app, scroll down until you see the 'Try it' button, click it, wait for the app to connect to its server, and press the big round button.
The app roots your phone and provides root access management without reboot. Enjoy!!!
Please contact me if you have any concerns.

Edit 1:
The Kingroot one-click-root application does not exist on the Play Store! Such rooting tools are considered malware/viruses for running exploits and are a violation of the guidelines and not permitted! The tool is safe, however; dont worry about it too much. The Kingroot and similarly named apps on the Play Store are fakes and do not do much of anything, hence the crappy reviews. Stop looking on the Play Store. That is entirely misleading.

Yes you can root 35b with kingroot and use SuperSume pro paid app or this guide to remove kingroot. If you do this you will still have stock recovery though so my advice is to keep reading and decide what you need/want to do.

Likewise, im just as hesitant as you are buddy I tried searching for the kingroot app on playstore, there were quite a few with the name so i decided to just give a look at all of them, and all of them had mostly negative reviews how it would stop at 90% and some of the users complained how their devices got bricked. This made me hesitant to proceed further with the app.

I can confirm that this method works on 35B. I rooted last night, and it seems to be working okay. Although after trying my first root program, the phone got significantly hot. It also rebooted once. But after that it seemed to work fine, it just gets a little warm when using a root app. I think its because i chickened out and closed kingroot during the root process, causing the root to be just a tad messed up. An hour later i opened up kingroot again to fully root it and it was already rooted.
I am buying a new phone today, considering the G3 from verizon. My question is will it come with the 35B or the 46A update, and if it comes with the 46A update does this method still work? Sorry for my lack of knowledge, have never rooted a phone before but recently became interested. Thanks for any help
Worked perfect for me according to root checker
Worked flawlessly, rooted with Kingroot, then installed and ran Supersume Pro. Now fully rooted 5.1.1 with Supersu, not a trace of Kingroot left!
Working!
I confirm that work with vs985 35b, I follow the step right now I want to install marshmallow
