Question on Encryption HTC One - Sprint HTC One (M9)

Is anyone running their M9 with Full Disk Encryption Enabled and if so how is it performing? I have mixed things about running Encryption like it slows down your phone and causes lag and performances issues. At least some say that about the Nexus 6. I was wondering though if the M9 was able to hold up with Encryption enabled. I have been wanting to turn it on but haven't found anyone who was using the M9 with it enabled after checking several forums. So again does anyone have Encryption turned on on their Sprint or other M9 and if so is their a noticeable disagree in performance like has been said about the Nexus 6. Any help that can be given s greatly appreciated.

Please help create a list of known issues for HTC

If anyone who desires to get known issues passed on to HTC if you would be so kind to head over to this thread and post any relevant information you have. Not trying to promote the forums over there I just right now have a good conversation going with HTC through a tech support ticket and I mentioned of the good community forums I take part in here and AC and they asked for links to specific threads and if there was a thread of known issues. So I figured it can not hurt to try and pass them on specific information since a ton of people never call in after dealing with tech support of VZ and so these issues are never addressed by people who need to know about to them look into them.
Thank you

+1 on battery
Note - even with the below, I absolutely LOVE this phone.
Video Camera Sound Recording - OTA seems to have resolved this for me
3G <=> 4G Handoff - OTA seems to have resolved this for me
Battery Life - I have few to no complaints, but improvements always welcome
WiFi Timeout/Drop - Has happened since launch day, OTA did not fix (When at home and using WiFi, if I leave it on but don't use it for a lenghty period of time, the data seems to stop working and I have to disconnect/reconnect wifi to get it working again. I use many other WiFi devices in my home and none suffer from this issue, which leads me to blame the phone.)
GPS Lock Issues - started after OTA for me
Random Reboots - started after OTA for me, two so far, but that's two more than are welcome.
Voice Call Volume - even on lowest setting, mine is freaking loud. Bearable, but loud.

Newly rooted TBolt won't find 4G?

Hey guys. Little new to the TBolt crew here.
I've been rooting for a bit. Did an HTC Hero, a DROID Eric, an Incredible... Now I've got a TBolt sitting here that I just rooted about an hour ago. It was running 4G just fine both before and after the root, but after installing a CM7 ROM (SFK's to be precise) I haven't seen 4G pop up since. I've tried a couple other CM7 roms, but nothing seems to make a difference - it only runs on 3G.
I was thinking it might be a radio problem, but admittedly I'm pretty novice with this stuff. I just flash what sounds interesting, and if it's not as stable as I'd like I find something else to flash. Does anyone have any ideas what's wrong? And what I can download to fix it?
EDIT: After giving up and deciding to go back to my backup of "stock" that I'd just made... now it's failing to properly back up. This wonderful error about data being corrupted with the only button available being "I'm Feeling Lucky" and still no 4G, only 3G. Now I'm at a complete loss.
I have a Nexus sitting next to me clearly connected to 4G just fine, so I know it's not a network issue. What the heck is going on here?
I'm sure you have, but never know... have you checked your wireless network settings?

Make sure LTE/CDMA is selected.

most roms are built with a specific radio in mind i would try to flash one of the newer radios they work better drain less battery and are more compatible with rooted roms.

So just what did Sense 4.1 solve???

Been running the lastest update for a few days now and maybe its me but this last update didn't fix anything. Yes it gave us the option to get rid of 3 dot menu but that is simply a cosmetic thing. My phones seems to run exactly the same as before update, programs still reload when I try to "multitask" back to them, WiFi still loses connection for no apparent reasons and I'm still getting 3G dropouts. Just trying to see if anyone actually saw any improvements.

Didnt it also free up some memory and display it differently? Since Im a flashoholic and change roms like women (I wish) I have noticed smoother performance across the boards. When I was on the old base Id get occasional stutters but with this new base every ROM including stock its way smoother than the older base and mine sleeps better than before.
You won't ever fully get rid of the multitasking issues until you get rid of Sense. I have been running CM10 for about 2 weeks now and couldn't be happier. No more Sense, the phone is like a completely different creature. It runs the way it's supposed to now.

WiFi issue I believe may have something to do with what chip is being used, because I had no issues with the EVO 4G WiMax, but have had issues with my old iPhone 3gs and EVO LTE. Connected with IP Address, but no transmitting data. Have to flip WiFi on and off to reset.
Using Airlink 101 AR670W with custom Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (08/07/10) std
On the 3G dropouts, I noticed it drop out about every 30 minutes (not moving, connected to IRC channel)
It fixed hotmail sync, that is the biggest fix I have noticed.

Did you install the new firmware? The radio was a major fix. Also, Sense 4.1 is about 80mb smaller than 4.0. Freeing up alot of memory. I experience no lag at all on the new base. Not that I hold much stock in quadrant scores but on the old base my scores were around 5000 but the new base I have scores around 6000. My phone flies now with no lag and no overclocking with awesome battery life.

On the original firmware I was sure there had to be some kind of memory leak, the phone just kept running low. Instead of trying to figure out if there was, I unlocked and jumped ship so I never confirmed. Really, I would not be surprised if it was something to be patched

N4 conversion VS LGOG based AOSP/CM/AOKP etc etc?

So what are the pros and cons.... I know about the partition. Are they any other issues with the conversion? If you came back from N4 what made you come back? Cos after the SD card, NFC and LTE fix what else was broken? Thanks in advance.

My main reason for doing the conversion was to get hybrid ROMs like Rootbox or PACman (which weren't available natively on LGOG at the time). To me, really the only pro is a larger selection of ROMs. This isn't necesarily a better selection, just bigger - it depends on what you are specifically looking for in a ROM as to whether this makes it worth it or not.
With the available fixes already posted, there really aren't any huge cons either - GPS works, camera works, you get full internal storage and external SD support. However, there were cases I ran across where I couldn't get certain fixes working with certain ROMs - things like touch key lights not working and the like. I'm sure they are fixable in these cases, it just takes someone smarter than me to figure out how.
I think the main reason the conversion is frowned upon is that there isn't a compelling, across-all-ROMs improvement or feature that would be available on a converted device that isn't available on the 'native' track. So why risk a brick monkeying with partition layouts and potentially dangerous N4 install scripts (apparently some of them flash using partition numbers rather than names, and this will kill ya dead - gotta read carefully. I never ran across one).
I had minimal issues when running converted ( I think I was running that way for 3 weeks or so maybe?? Can't remember). Most of the issues were things that were more annoyances, rather than real usage problems. However, as my main reason for converting was to get a hybrid ROM, once houstonn brought Rootbox to the LGOG natively, I decided to come back. I'm usually a little short on time, and it was getting difficult to keep up with all the LGOG threads, plus all the N4 ROM threads, plus figuring out how to fix the ROMs for use on the LGOG. It's easy here, a one stop shop for LGOG learning, if you will...
I suspect with the native 4.2.2 stuff running around here now, there will be a steady decrease in the amount of 'development' on conversion stuff - it seems quite a bit quieter now than it was a month or 2 ago. I'd rather stay where the action is, as that's usually where the little remaining issues get solved first.
FWIW, I had no issues either converting to, or back from, N4. The threads here do a good job of spelling out the process - it's just a matter of reading through them enough times to understand what is going on and what to expect at each step.
Thanks for writing up your experience... The main reason I asked this question was... Some of the (if not all of them) AOSP Roms have major issues like if GPS works something else will be broken and if something else worksworks other is broken. But I did not see that in N4 conversion. (At least to my knowledge) I'm just talking about just pure aosp Roms. ..is this a trurt statement I'm making? Thanks in advance.

I can't say for certain - most of these 'tradeoff' issues, at least from what I've seen, seem to revolve around which modem you choose to run. I believe, at the moment the only 100% no issue setup is and ICS ROM with ICS modem. I believe these issues persist whether you are on N4 conversion or native LGOG setup - but I could be wrong here.
Here's the basic breakdown - somebody correct me if I'm wrong on these, I haven't run most of these setups personally:
If you run ICS modem on JB ROM, you get broken GPS.
If you run .33 N4 modem you get good GPS and Data speeds, but occasional data drops. Also, apparently you can't make outgoing calls in LTE coverage. You can fix the data connection by toggling airplane mode. This isn't a huge issue for most people, but is for me as I use Google voice and IM apps for messaging (rather than SMS) so if I don't notice the data drop and toggle, I'm missing messages.
If you run ATT JB modem on JB ROMs you get working GPS, decent data speed, and working LTE calling. All Outgoing calls drop to a background process after initiation, so if after hitting dial you need to interact with the call, you have to open the notification drawer and then click on the call to foreground it. Does not impact actual functioning of the call. Network name is reported as 'maritime' rather than AT&T.
I think there's another N4 modem that will work with LTE (.27 maybe - somebody jump in here) so that might be another option...I haven't tried it. there is one N4 modem that breaks LTE support.
I've been almost exclusively on houstonn's RootBox since coming back to native setup - so I may have missed issues with other ROMs - I do try to keep up with all the threads though. Hopefully someone else on one of the others can chime in with other issues, if there are any, that I missed. FWIW, I have never lost GPS on my device...I'm not sure why some have and some haven't...

One stop shopping for all your radio needs.
Thanks again both of you... t I wanted to know why and I think I got what I was looking for.. Anyway, I guess I will stick with my rooted stock JB for now till some of these issues get resolved. Thanks again for all your time.

ATT HTC One problems....Android.Phone and Sense stopping

Since Kitkat, which I got around the first day I get crashes on Sense or on Phone. It's inconsistent but does tend to happen when I text someone using a paid version of Go SMS Pro.
Anyone else experiencing any issues?
Is it stock? You may have to reset and start clean.
