Let's do some SWAPPIN'!
---------------------------
Stock already have ZRAM - 215 MB, but it's locked directly in our RAM and it's not very effective.
We will remove this ZRAM and add SWAP RAM on our cache - we have almost 1 GB free unused on /cache.
We will exploit this and add some SWAPPIN'
Our SWAP will prevent from killing recent apps, when we are using them. Apps will be save in our SWAP RAM, not in direct RAM. We will have access to 6-10 opened apps at the same moment.
---------------------------
I'd like to thanks to http://forum.android.com.pl/forum/1137-lg-g2-mini-d620/ for excellent threads!
This guide couldn't be created without polish dev @partyzant_x
---------------------------
Requirements
-ROOT
-BusyBOX from Google Play Store.
---------------------------
Add Init.d
-Install Inid.d Toggler
-Open it and press Activate.
-Wait and reboot the phone.
-When rebooted, go to this app, and click "Verify". If it says Init.d supported, youre ready to go!
---------------------------
Add SWAP
-First you'll need to remove ZRAM, to download ROOT EXPLORER or ES explorer, and go to /system/etc and search -init.lge.zramswap.sh. Then remove it.
Download this file.
-Paste it to /system/etc/init.d/
-Give the file rwxrwxrwx(775) perrmisions and owner group - root.
-Reboot.
To try do you have SWAP, download and install this apk.
---------------------------
How to change size of SWAP
-Go to ES explorer and find 98_cache in init.d, whitch you installed.
-Open it by ES text editor
-Find "swap_file_size_mb=400;" and change the size - max is 700 MB.
-Save changes.
-Reboot.
---------------------------
When you encounter problem or in DISC INFO SWAP will be missing
Download Script Manager.
-Go to your 98_swap_file and click it.
-Select "su" "boot" and point "Is executable"
-Click "Run".
-Now it will be visible.
-Reboot.
---------------------------
TWEAKS!
If you want to test some additional features who can further develop you device, please read.
1. If you'r apps still refreshing after time, download Kernel Auditor and go to ->Low memory killer.
Stock L using very high parameter's of this, so you should lower them. Click "Apply on boot" and set "Light or Medium" option.
Thank to @Zaaap72 for this feature. It really works!
2. I've applied some new test options in Virtual Memory function(Kernel Auditor), and i shoul'd say it works perfectly. If you want to test it, to maximize your "SWAPPIN" set:
dirty ratio -> 20
dirty expire centisecs -> 100
swapiness -> 60 (should be set)
vfs cache pressure -> 80 - 100 you choose.
You should also knew that if you will using some RAM APP killers, like one touch clean ram or something, or you will remove all apps very often i recent apps panel - your SWAP will don't work!

I switched messenger, free sms app, internet and facebook app without ANY killed app. At the same time.
I think max for it is the SWAP size cap - 400 mb for apps, so i dont know, 6-10 apps open at the same time.
In swap file which i uploaded i set swapiness to "60" and SWAP size to 400 MB - should suffice.
Give it a try!

Dear Sir
I don't know how it works on CM 11, but should like the same way as on stock, but i cannot guarantee it. Just test yourself, if something go wrong, before this, do backup. But i don't think this test could do so much damage.
You should know CM is going different path than stock firmwares. Memory optimization is different in many ways. LG gave us very good system, we only try to customise it to our very own needs.

Nope, i can't execute this file. I have this script and the link2sd script in my init.d folder, the second works but the first doesn't.
Link2sd scriprt has rwx r-- rwx permission, the swap one has rwx rwx rwx permission, but i don't think this is the problem, this file is impossible to exec in any case.

Dear Cafi,
Do you have files in your /system/etc/init.d folder? Are there 98 swap file?
SManager has SU priveleges?
If nothing of theese two, you have 2 options.
-Download Kernel Auditor and in init.d click emulate init.d and press below 98_swap_blabla and execute, try reboot then. Tell me if it works sir.
-I can sent you my file, whitch is exact same as in main thread. You can place it there and we will see what happens.

How many apps now you can switch on?
I will play with stock ZRAM now...maybe it's not that bad as i think, if i will discover something new i let you know.

Install and Configure a2sdgui ROM's CyanogenMod
Hello fellow good here I leave this tutorial hos to use a2sdgui based on CyanogenMod ROMs, as these ROMs do not include this system and its installation is different from a stock rom; a2sdgui is an app that allows us to extend the internal memory the mobile to have more space to install apps, this is accomplished by configuring two aspects: SD memory partition and installing a script called darktremor a2sdgui, well initiate:
THE WHOLE PROCESS IS DONE AT YOUR OWN RISK, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR BRICKS IN MOBILE IF YOU DO EVERYTHING AS SHOWN TO WORK ALL YOU ASSURE THAT CORRECTLY
RECOMMENDED TO DO BEFORE INSTALLING THE MOBILE APPS
Requirements:
- ROM based CyanogenMod 7.1 or 7.2
- Install a2sdgui (DOWNLOAD FROM THE MARKET)
- Script darktremor a2sdgui 2.7.5.3 Beta 04 (Download)
- SD card partitioned
Instructions:
1. - Install a2sdgui
2. - MicroSD Memory Partitioning:
First download the MiniTool Partition Wizard.
http://download.cnet.com/Partition-W...=dl&tag=button
Once installed, we put our SD on the PC (with a reader, adapter or anything like that) and open the program.
If you already have some partitions it is recommended that if we start from 0 erase all as shown.

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
After deleting all now begin creating them.
We give and we get this Edit menu and the first is FAT32.
We have to make FAT32 and Primary, we assign space is relative, I having 8GB (class 6) I put all but 1.5 will be for ext4 and swap.
Now for the ext4 partition, select PRIMARY. Now the partition type is relative, it is recommended that if your card is less than 6 class partition is ext2. If Class 6 or more ext4. That and I leave to your judgment, in my case I assign 1 GB will be to host the apps as if they were in the internal memory.
Now we use the remaining space for the swap partition (PRIMARY), in my case 500 Mb RAM With this more of our ACE will have 800 MB of Ram (the swap partition is a partition that is used like RAM, it is so important!)
APPLY Now we give and we get this message should accept and the thing to end as you see in the two screenshots below.
Partitions that I recommend are:
3. - Restart the phone in recovery mode
4. - Scroll to and select mounts & storage mount / data and mount / system
5. - Made the above should be unmount / data and unmount / system
6. - Now return to the main menu of recovery
7. - Enter to install zip from sdcard> choose zip from sdcard>-2.7.5.3-beta04 dtapps2sd-signed.zip
8. - Restart the phone, when you start DO NOT OPEN OR ANYTHING IN THE MOBILE, the mobile just restart again, it is NORMAL not alarmed.
9. After reboot, enter A2SDGUI. On the menu that appears in the display of APPS on SD are expected to be active and SWAP may also, in case this is not no more to give up and active. At the end of the menu is the VALUE SET 0-100, I got 100 and I gave the side.
10. - Now we turn to LowMen directly and I have chosen this, to me is the one that best suits me. The option below elijais leave more free memory, it is better but in my case having 800 mb is fine for me up there.
11. - Now let's Dalvik-Cache and choose it and click Move & Rebuild and phone will reboot.
AND THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE TO END MUCH MEMORY FREE AND ESPECIALLY A lot of RAM! ENJOY!
Link2sd is better ..and s2e is better heavenly

I haven't used s2e, so i can't give you a description of, but i can say that the main difference between links2sd and app2sdgui is that meanwhile the first only moves the apps to the sd (even those that aren't allowed to by the os), app2sdgui "cheat" Android to "think" that it have more internal memory, but really it's just part of your sdcard.
Hope you'd understood me

Haha, i've messed it up!
I don't know why or how, but now i have the app2sdgui running, but....also i had runngin link2sd, and several apps linked. Now i have a lot of "andro-boxes" (linked apps that are, seems, not readable) in my phone, a sdcard partitioned and a lot of information blocked.
I'm trying to create the mount scripts on link2sd to unmake the links, and start using app2sdgui, but link2sd can't because "device or resource busy"

Swapper [Root Users] Reduce Lag and Save Ram

So what is Swap?
A swap file allows an operating system to use hard disk space to simulate extra memory. When the system runs low on memory, it swaps a section of RAM that an idle program is using onto the hard disk to free up memory for other programs. Then when you go back to the swapped out program, it changes places with another program in RAM. This causes a large amount of hard disk reading and writing that slows down your computer considerably.
I can say Swap file is like Virtual Memory on your PC.
New Info:
For those who struggle with the Free on terminal Emulator, the swapper will still work. Here is the simple Instruction. Just make as 100-128mb Swap then put it to 50 swappines, reboot and done.
The Swapper can Work on Many Devices. I tested it on Neo V, Arc S and Samsung Galaxy SII
Just to make sure it supports this kind of Feature. Free to try it, its harmless.
Requirements:
-Any Rom- (Tested on Acronium 4 and I-Scream)
-Custom Kernel- (Tested on KGT and Xarc Kernel)
-300+ sdcard space-
-Terminal Emulator-
Source: Google Play
or Attached File
Start:
Download the Swapper2 and install.
2. Go to terminal emulator type "Free" without the Quotation.
Make sure you see "0" on the Swap

Go Advanced preferences check "Recreate swap file" and "Reformat swap" then exit...
4. Open Swapper2 click ON it will show some Fail.
Just wait for few secs or mins and it will continue. If not, Click the ON again.
5. Go to terminal emulator type free and you will see that the "0" has been replaced.
Hit thanks if you think I helped.

For those who cannot do the do the Swap due to Kernel Issue
Here is a new way without using the Swapper 2
SOLUTION: How to make simple ZRAM init.d script
1. Using Root Explorer, got to /sytem/etc/init.d/
2. press Menu then create new file
3. paste these in it
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
sysctl -w vm.swappiness=60
echo '1' > /sys/block/zram0/reset
echo $((60*1024*1024)) > /sys/block/zram0/disksize
mkswap /dev/block/zram0
swapon /dev/block/zram0
Click to collapse
4. close and save it as 99zram
5. set permission to 777 or "rwxrwxrwx" (tick all)
6. take note: 60*1024*1024 = 60MB zram disksize. if you want to set 30MB, change 60 to 30.
Thanks.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work on the stock kernel as we don't have the ramzswap module. But as I mentioned here it looks like it could be compiled as a loadable module if someone was willing to do it. Any takers?

Although it creates the script, the fact that the stock kernel is swap locked doesn't allow that same script to run.
I got this report...
But I must say that it was quite odd seeing this cause during the time I had the app installed onbthe phone it lagged alot less and the usual high temperature reached when playing a game or browsing the internet didn't occur.
A true mistery...
Oh... I used Swapper for root.

The stock kernel doesn't have zram either. Nor of course is zram a 'real' swapfile, it's just a compressed area of ram.
Unless you want this thread to be full of posts just saying "swapon doesn't work" or "function not implemented", if I were you I'd change the text of your first post to say that this is only for devices with unlocked bootloaders using custom kernels.

i have MANUAL step to increase virtual memory (such as adding secondary ram). But in this mod YOU DO NOT NEED to create a partition ext2/3/4. This step will help u if ur kernels doesn't have swap partition support. Ok, check it out,, its very easy and simple method

3. Choose 1 from 3 files size for swap that u want ( up to you )
4. Copy file to /sdcard
5. Make sure you have BusyBox installed
6. Then, U can type on "Terminal Emulator"
for example im using with 128mb size :

NOTE :
- on terminal emulator, type the name of swap file correctly and the place must correctly too . . . (experiment)
- If u restart ur phone, swap will reset and u must type on emulator again. But if u want to run my script at each boot, u can try it with app swapper2 or ROEHSOFT RAM Expander
- on some devices if u will connect to usb storage, then u must turn off swap before u connect usb storage to PC. But, this problem can be resolved by installing USB OTG (MTP) or using swapper2
For anyone who got error like 'not found', try to change permissions on /system/xbin "swapon and swapoff" to (tick all box)

You must type the name of swap file correctly, so swap will detected. If u choose 256mb size, so on terminal emulator must 256 too. Look at purple colour above. im using 128mb.
Besides that, the place of swap file must appropriate too.
- try with costum kernel and install busybox

Maybe not bad, but i suggest u to use with class 6 or higher. Swap process depend on how much speed sdcard to read and write. So, if u use with higher class sdcard, then it will give a better result.

[GUIDE] How to enable swap memory

well this is a guide to increase your ram capacity using a swap partition (it doesn't increase your actual Ram capacity, it just act like a virtual memory)...there are many great guides in xda i just thought of this cuz most of those guides are a lil bit complicated and outdated (using command prompt) for new users (and i'm a beginner aswell)... if your phone is kinda laggy due to heavy using this is what your looking for and make sure your kernel supports swap ..
currently swap supported kernels for Amaze:
Faux v.31
(thats according to my knowledge the stock kernels doesnt support it and if the CM kernels support it let me know i'll add it)
WARNING: there are chances that this mite degrade your sd card life
what you need:
1. a ext micro sd card class 6 or higher more than 2GB
2. following 2 apps from playstore MemoryInfo & Swapfile Check and Swapper 2 (for Root users)
3.make sure you have busy box installed
4.4ext recovery or twrp (my instructions are based on 4ext recovery)
okay lets start now..this is a step by step guide and the most easiest way..
Click to collapse
1st step
backup your ext memory card 1ST and then boot into 4ext recovery and go to TOOLS>>PARTITION SD CARD it'll look like the below screen shots ...skip the 1st 2 options as they're for increasing your system capacity and app sotrage (if you want you can make those partitions aswell, but they dont have to do anything with swap so i'm skippping them) so the process will look like this..i recommend using 512 cuz it use around 256mb (i used 1gig tho)

if everything went well your info will look like this!
Click to collapse
Step 2
install the apps given above and 1st go to the MemoryInfo & Swapfile Check app and check for the swap partition status and directory it''ll look like this..
then click ram expander test and get to know your partitions and their directory name..it'll be like this
and we're interested in that partition the one called mmcblk1p2 [it mite be different if you create more partitions or else you'll have one like that the specially made partition for swap]
Click to collapse
Final step
now go to the 2nd app we installed which is Swapper 2 (for Root users) and do not turn it on right away or else it'll make a swap file in your internal sd and make it a mess also then there will be no point for the specially made partition...so once you installed the app go to settings and,
1. tick safe unmount, safe remount and run swapper at startup options.
2. swap size: 32mb [recommended] or 256mb [my settings]
3. swappiness: 10mb [recommended] or 60 [default, i use it aswell]
and then go to advance preferences and tick the use swap partition option and then click swap partition option and name it like this using your directory, mine looks like this..
done?? okay now go to the menu and turn on the swapper app...well to check if everything went well go to the MemoryInfo & Swapfile Check app and if it shows the numbers and capacity like this your golden!!!

Viper's free RAM only comes down to 200MB free when I last used it and before I manually debloated it and removed unnecessary apps. Thank god for AROMA. Usually Sense ROMS have 450mb when they're debloated, and Senseless ROMS have 500mb. Like all of mine. Even though I left Rosie.apk to make it feel nothing was missing.
Ravike you should start making custom ROMS once your exams are over (hope you are finding them easy). You have a sharp mind, you should compete with shubham. (He says he'll release his ROM in 1 month, too long IMO). It really isn't hard, just use Dsixda's kitchen, then go deeper like me and add AROMA. :good:

I was wondering, will this work Sensai Rom @SuperAfnan ?
I tried but the swap partition won't show up in the memory info swap check app.
Btw how does swap really work. All I understand is that it's virtual ram, but does it make the device more efficient and lagfree?

Yes it should, I don't see why not. And swap space, from my understanding, is supposed to do that. The trade off is that it takes some space from your SD. Not really a big deal if you have lots of space.
I think a quick Google search is better than asking though since I don't have unlimited knowledge.

INIT.D FOLDER SUPPORT FOR GRAND QUATTRO GT-I8552
OK GUYS here i present you the method to install init.d folder support without a custom kernel so that we can use any scripts or app2sd etc...
IT WORKED AND TESTED IN MY DEVICE :highfive: :highfive: :highfive: :highfive:
Requirements:
#1 You must be rooted
#2 You must have busybox intalled
#3 ADB driver installed in your pc
Procedure to install:
- Download 'Busy Box" and install from playstore {select /system/xbin/
- Download attached 'DOC_INIT.D.zip' file and extract it to your pc {in to C:/} {dont extract in any folder}
- Now run 'runme.bat' file
- Grant permission in phone to ADB Shell then rest it will do by default {Dont Do Anything Else}
- your phone will show the process on screen :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
After installation complete terminal shows 'All Done' press any key to continue
Check for init.d folder in Root/etc/init.d
How to confirm its working?
Reboot after install
Check u will see root/data/local/temp/init.d_log_text.txt
Open the file in text viewer it will show 'done'
Now you successsfully installed init.d folder
Now its time to test all the scripts available in XDA...
Finally you guys also check the scripts....download Script manager app - put the script file in that init.d folder - select the script through smanager

Adrenaline™ Boost
Description
This script act like an nitro boost for your Android.
It helps you to clear your system cache, get more free ram for you and gravely boost your phone's performance !
*Best use before gaming !
How it works?
Your phone's ram usage will get higher and higher everyday then you will find your ace become an @SS because it's turtle speed and only reboot fix this problem.
Our android os create system cache everyday, but after one day or so, those old caches are not longer in use but the os continuously create newer cache that's why the ram get heavier and heavier everyday !
Adrenaline Boost help you to clear those caches ! So you won't have to reboot again !
For those who have sharp eyes may find your battery life decreased. WHY?
Adrenaline Boost clear your system cache and your cpu will work harder to build back needed cache.
Some have reported to me that the Opera browser crash after boost when open over 3 tabs.
You system need caches to work , this boost is intended to clear old cache that are no longer using and let the system to build new cache, so if u boost it too often , your cpu will be very busy building needed caches and may consume more battery than normal !
Boost it only when it's needed then there will be no problem !
How To Install ?
1) Download from the attachment below
2) Put into your sdcard
3) Reboot into CWM
4) Mounts /system
5) Flash it
6) Reboot
How to Use It?
1) Open terminal emulator
2) Type :su [hit enter]
:boost [hit enter]
How to uninstall adrenaline boost

thanks doc, that worked!
Hi Doc, i followed all the steps below. i'm using a class10 32gb micro sd. im on JB 4.1.2. but it's not working. after i click on External>Internal and after the popup message, when i check on my storage, both the internal and the sdcard memory will show 5.06GB. After rebooting my phone, the internal memory is 5.06GB while the sdcard is 29.71GB
External to Internal Memory Swap method
please follow the steps carefully
- Download and install the app that i attached here
- open the app and grant permission
- pop up message will appear press'I dont care'
- go to settings:
1.check 'send rescan'
2. check 'Use per default'
- press original mounting point and change as 'sdcard0'
- press Ext.sdcard device Access and change the value from 179:49 to 179:33 its our device access value
- press back button and come to main screen
- check 'At Boot' box
- Now press External>Internal*
- wait till u get a small fraction popup message like 'Android sdcard permission granted' something like this
- Now go to storage option in settings there u will see your ext sdcard is swaped as internal sdcard
- Reboot device to work properly
Guys it works only on JB 4.1.2 and if you dont like to swap just uninstall app and reboot
Use Class 6 or Class 10 Sdcards...I prefer Class 10
Dont worry all your apps data will be swaped to ext sdcard so apps will work normally
I swaped my 8gb sdcard as internal memory:
If u use 16gb - internal will be 16gb
If u use 32gb - internal will be 32gb
