Improper alignment of the home button - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It's been a few days I bought the 64 Gb edge black color.I am from bangalore, india. Well as the title say the home button is not aligned straight and I was aware if it when I bought it. While I was buying it the first piece had a totally non aligned home button and the store guys got me another piece from their other branch and home button on that was also a little off in terms of alignment and I thought that was a default manufacturing issue so ignored and bought it as I also did not have the patience for them to get another piece. But no issues in terms it's functionality but when I look at the home button carefully it looks a little off. So was just wondering if any one has this too? And not to forget the first piece that I got also had scratches on the home button which was strange as it was a sealed piece. Samsung should definitely be taking care of this for the huge money they are charging else they could be loosing customers in future.

Phone control plate shifting

The faceplate for the phone buttons on my Touch Pro is shifting like tectonic plates. The Back button side is flushed with the screen but the Home side is raised a bit like it's bent upwards a bit. Am I the only one with this problem? I walked into a Best Buy to look at the demo and it's all flushed.. even with thousands of hands raping the display unit daily..
Mine is like that to but my back button goes lower
mine is doing the exact same thing. i took mine into bell and they told me that its normal... mind you they were complete f****** idiots. no offence to amyone who works for them. i myself used to sell for them. anyway... i too looked and the display and it was also completely flush. i'm concerned about the reprocutions of long term use...
My Sprint TP has been in exactly the same shape as the original poster's since day 1. I would have refused it initially but just getting the thing was such a pain due to the crappy service I was getting that I just went with it anyway, but it bothers me every time I use it. Does anybody know whether this should be covered under the manufacturers warranty?
My sprint TP is normal .. no issues so far had it for month ..
but reading that scarying me..
hey do you think its just defect ? under my cover says DT08.12.17
guessing day its made ?
Yeah, mine's raised up too... on mine, both sides are raised up with the home side being 1 or 2 millimeters higher. It hasn't seemed to affect the functionality of it. Not sure if mine was like this out of box, but i've had it less than 30 days and just recently noticed it. It won't concern me until the buttons stop working or i have to start pressing harder to activate them.
I just noticed after reading this thread that mine is the same. The home side is higher, where the "back" button is nearly flush. I've only had mine for about two weeks, but it must have been like this out of the box.
Sprint Touch Pro
Mine seems to be even and flush and does not move without my pressing it.
Manufacture Date: 12-2008
I would definitely look into having yours replaced if the plate is shifting around or not flush.
The 3 most annoying things on the phone are the lack of buttons / shortcuts like on my HTC Mogul, battery life (which is fixable with an extended battery), and how hot the phone gets after only a short time of use. Also the volume up/down button gets stuck in the down position occasionally.

Spongy Screen Edges

Hello,
So, I received my Prime on 2/8/12 and I absolutely adore it. However, I have noticed that on the right side of my screen near the bottom, the very edges seem to be able to be depressed just slightly. The best word I can come up with is Spongy. If I press quickly I can hear where the case and the screen come together and click softly. There is no Creaking or anything.
Is this a known defect or is it just a soft spot on the case and there is nothing to worry about? So far I have not received a straight answer on it. It certainly doesn't effect anything. I have decent wifi connectivity in an old Cement Style Apartment and the screen is perfect. I walked in knowing the GPS wasn't going to work and had very little worry or interest in GPS in a tablet.
Thanks for your help!
Miles
I know exactly what you're saying...but I'm almost 100% sure that there's no issue here. It just happens to be a place where there's no clip to fully secure it and it doesn't come together exactly in that location, but it's not going to cause an issue.
That is what I was assuming as well. I wanted to make sure. I am so happy with this tablet thus far, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't looking at a defect. Takes a huge load off my mind and my wife's as well. For as much as we paid for it I would hate to see something small be the cause of some major flaw.
Thank you so much!
Hmm, It seems I have a Spongy spot on all sides of my tablet. Right side on the bottom (near where you would hold it in Landscape), On the top near the camera (I can actually feel alot of give here and hear the case clack against it when I even just hold it in Portrait mode), Just below the volume rocker and another beside the Power adapter area.
Sadly I am starting to think this isn't exactly normal. Am I the only one thinking it might be time to head back to office depot?

After reading this, I checked the spot by the camera, and I have that too. You really shouldn't worry about it though...they're WAY within tolerances for devices of this kind...I mean, it moves like what, 0.001mm?
My first one was the same way as it the one I just got as a replacement (I sent the first one in for an unrelated problem). I wouldn't worry too much about it.
So everyone says not to worry. I am really glad to hear that More people are having this problem than just myself. Yes it is a very slight movement, however, I was worried about it hindering the screen. I called office depot today and they said they would refund me if I wished. I think I will probably call off the refund. It is an amazing tablet and I love it to death. Hopefully nothing worse comes of it as time goes on.
I have a lot of thinking to do I suppose. I kind of feel like if I take the refund I am going to have to take a step backwards, due to the loss of the quad core. Though, between my wifes Dual core and my quad core I see very little difference between the two.

[Q] Home bar button: Raised or not raised!

My 16 gb's home bar is a little raised just slightly, while my 32 gb's home bar is totally flushed with the screen. Which one is it supposed to be, any clue or info?

Should be flush.

Really? Mine isn't raised, while my girlfriends is, and it's a lot easier and more comfortable to press.
I've seen a few and they all flat, so just something to think about.
Mine is raised, which is the way it's supposed to be. You can tell because the official flip case has a space for the raised home button to fit into.
Well I like the raised home button but I also like the flat home button, there's only 1 way to solve this... Fiiiiight.
I work for a telco and have played with a lot of I9300's... my personal 2 I9300's both have ever so slightly raised keys however I have had some customers whom have had recessed buttons which cannot be felt when running your finger over them... slight manufacturing QA fault possibly?
Mine is flat.
Mine is slightly raised -- as they should be.
Mine is raised as well.

Mine is Slightly Raised
Thanks guys!
Slightly raised here too. Bizarre that there could be variations in this from the factory.
Mine is also slightly raised. I think it gives you a better feeling when you are "looking" for the home button!

I had the 16gb version and its home button was raised. I switched to the 32gb model and now the button is flat. The button on the 16gb model felt so much nicer. So now I'm wondering if this is a manufacturer defect. Also, my screen makes a slight clicking noise when I hit it on the upper half of the screen. Any ideas on that issue?
Mines raised by about 0.2mm, very very tiny raise, usually flush with a screen protector or just slightly above it
international s3
Mine was raised slightly when I bought it, now it is flush. I wonder if it goes that way after some use?
I wish they hadn't used a physical button. On my old Sony the physical buttons were the first things to break.

Sony used very cheap button mechanisms.... I've had iPhones and GS2's, and never had any problems.
A lot of pics on the net are showing the white one and the home button looks so raised it looks fake lol. I have pebble blue and mine slightly raised as it was out of the box.

two big problems with build quailty im not happy

Ok the tablet is great. But after a week ive noticed today two things that are making me return it and probally ask for money back.
The back near the power button feels as if its not glued down when u push it slightly it clicks, this isnt acceptable in a 400 quid tablet
Now the screen ive just noticed this when I hold the far right corner the screen shows extreme signs of pressure from back and distorts, its. Only does it along the left hand side.
Has anyone else noticed these problems

I have mine arriving on the 6th, so I hope I don't get any problems like this. However, it does sound unusual from all the reviews I've read. I'd say replace it, sounds faulty.
Noticed it also on the right side.
Screen is also too sensitive.

the power button is designed that way i think.. but the sensitivity on the right is i didn't notice so far.. i felt a little bit sensitive when i first remove the plastic cover on the screen.. i think its due to adhesive on the plastic cover..

yep. This is a downside of thinnes ( It lacks rigidy a bit cause it shell made of plastic not metal as in ipad. But the plus side it is lightweight.

Volume button

Got the tablet today, my up volume button barely protrudes, but the annoying part is I can barely feel it. I can barely press it, and i have to click it with my nail. I can use my thumb too if I try but there is just no 'click' or feedback
Is this normal? Anyone else ? Wondering if I should replace it or live with it
Thankss
please list model, color and place of purchase.
Mine is the same. 32GB White version direct from Google. I can use it without my nail but still barely protrudes.
Yeah same, 32GB black from Google. I have to take a second or two to press the volume up at times..
Its a 16 GB Black, from best buy
Its pretty annoying, not sure its worth exchanging yet. I always get some bad first batch luck (Nexus 7 and screen lift etc. hah)
Im constently searching for the buttons
Maybe a software solution can help.
A toggle in the quick pull down menu.
Anyway i will be putting a case around it.
Lets see wat happens.
Oh my word... Will it ever end?! I have never read so many negative things about a device in my life. I have two of these things en-route to me, and honestly, I'm feeling like I've just wasted my money. What a let-down this has been. I can only hope and pray that somehow, mine don't suffer from any of these issues. Judging by the number of people complaining, I can't see that happening.
Mine protrudes actually quite a bit and I don't need nails to activate it. Seems like there is a lot of variation here... Why can't QC be higher? Seems like they rushed this out tbh, and software doesn't seem entirely finished either. Random lags are annoying, ART doesn't really feel any faster than Dalvik.
Same. Just got my nexus 9 and the volume buttons are so hard to click... I got the n9 16gb black from hk play store... Also got some light bleed on edge of screen. And it gets quite hot in the middle after using for a while.
Kinda disappointed as I have the nexus 7 and 10 and thought it'd be a worthy addition to the family...
Hopefully some of these issues can get fixed

I have the same issue. Volume down and power buttons both have a tactile feel and 'click' when they are pushed. My volume up button is recessed slightly lower and has no 'click' to it. If not for the volume notification I would not even know that I was pressing it. The entire volume bar is slanting inward to the point where it is almost flush with the frame at the edge of the volume up side. The power key also has this same slant in it. Combined with the fact that the processor runs very hot (compared to my n7 and n5 and other android devices), I'm starting to feel like I got suckered by this whole "Premium Android Device" pitch...
I have the 32gb white wifi model
same issue
16gb black wifi from best buy. power button not completely straight with some play in it that wiggles. up volume button more flush than the down and hard to press easily without good feedback

I tried convincing myself it was ok.
It's not. A $500+ device should not have the flaws that I experienced.
Micro-stutters in the O/S, even outside of apps.
A volume up button that is practically inside the tablet, requiring a fingernail to depress. No tactile feedback on press.
Plugging USB in and attempting a file transfer makes the device unresponsive and a corner of the device heats up so much that there is no way it's normal (it's not scalding hot... but it is "very" warm).
lightbleed
This is a device I paid close to $600 for after tax+s/h. It practically performs worse than my 2012 Nexus 7. Completely unacceptable.
RMA for refund has been approved.
Buying this device right now is a total lottery/crapshoot.
My advice: RMA your device.
Manufacturing batch of my unit: HT4AB (32GB - via google play store purchase at Oct 17 launch)
Same here, lower volume and power button are clicky, but the top volume is so flush and have zero feedback. White 32gb playstore Canada. So far, lightbleed, volume rocker, lockscreen loop when charging, screen flickering, noise from the top speaker when closing the camera app and random heating when browsing in Chrome... RMA!
Got mine today, volume button is flush with the device at the top. Tried talking to Play store about rma, but they refused saying it cannot be done unless it stops working.
Nexus 9 power/volume button.
I am in the same situation. Pushing those buttons without looking is a challenge enough. Now, try taking screenshots. Nearly impossible. When pushing the buttons with a flat surface like end of a pen, function will not trigger, because actual click happens when the button is already inside of the frame. I did try asking Google for RMA, but because buttons are still functional, warranty doesn't apply. I love the device, but for more than $500, it should not have problems like this.
I have to say that ios system is better
Perhaps it's flush on purpose who you don't accidentally press it while in landscape mode? I hate the tablets that have the buttons sticking out...makes the buttons easy to accidentally press.
Also, what's up with all these trolls with less than 5 posts.

Haha, nice first post.
Same issue here. I'm waiting until I can guarantee the purchase of a B or even C serial number build down the road. So annoying.
