Warning: APP Internet speed master - G4 Themes and Apps

Because of the bad wifi reception i tried the app Internet speed master.
I read somewhere that it can help, others says its a placebo....
But the main thing DONT INSTALL THIS APP. It messes up your mobile data settings.
As i am on root, i installed as a root user... with the follow up that i had to install the stock Rom again.
Also flashing the Modem.zip didnt help.

Clear your cache in recovery, then if not backup everything and wipe data it does say coderom support unconfirmed.
still have no internet
Just flashed it, Connects to wi-fi no internet, nor will it connect to Mobile Data :/
Cmiiw, but i think thats just normal samsung kernel with additional tweak that can easily be done with apps like autokiller memory optimizer or auto memory manager. No custom cpu governor, no custom battery voltage etc etc. Why risk to brick ur phone when it can easily be done with just a simple app from market

It is a custom Kernel, not a modified Stock Kernel
"This rooted kernel is for the "rooting beginners" and those who want to keep as close to stock as possible. CF-Root takes the kernel from an original Samsung firmware, and just adds root, busybox, and (unprotected recovery and CWM compatibility) OR (CWM3)
If you are looking for highly optimized kernels or kernels that perform specific functions, look elsewhere. All CF-Root's are based on original Samsung kernels, they are NOT recompiled, and thus ensure maximum compatibility. "

[Q] wifi tethering

Im trying to setup wifi tethering on the x10mp (phone 3G->wifi to a laptop).
I've tried Barnacle (laptop failed to connect to phone), and "wifi tether for root users" (two apps), but both gave an error message that the kernel is missing some components.
has anyone got some wifi tethering app to work on x10mp? and if so, which one and how?
TIA

If you are on stock SE firmware, even if you have rooted your phone, Wifi tethering wont work for you, as the stock firmware does'nt support tethering. Here is a link with a list of tutorials and custom ROMs (I think all ROMs from android 2.3 support tethering):
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588192
The easiest way would be to install xrecovery on your stock kernel (you'll find one under "stock kernel based custom ROMs) and then flash a GingerBread(2.3) ROM via xrecovery.
Please press thanks if I helped .
Tnx.
Im using the stock SE ROM.
Kernel 2.6.29
Firmware 2.1-update1
Any chance I could get wifi tethering working w/o installing a custom ROM?

Don't be afraid of flashing Roms in stock kernel, its simplicity itself. If you have already rooted your phone, here's a quick how-to:
1.Download stericson's busybox from the market & install newest version (currently 1.20.2, I think)
2.Download the zip file in this post
3.Download script manager from the market.
4. Extract the files onto your sdcard so that you find the files "chargemon, busybox, xrecovery.tar, readme.txt, installer" in sdcard/download/xrecovery.
5.Open script manager, give superuser permissions (tick 'browse as root' on first startup), navigate to the folder you extracted and run 'installer' as root (tip on the superuser symbol on the top left corner. When activated, it should be green).
6.Download the Rom you want to flash onto your sdcard, a link you'll find in my earlier post(only choose from stock kernel based roms)
7.Reboot.
8. When the SE logo appears, press back button quickly several times. You will boot into xrecovery.
9.Make a backup via xrecovery.
10.wipe data via xrecovery and install your downloaded rom, surprise, via xrecovery.
11.reboot&enjoy!

PS: Sorry, forgot to upload the zip file, will upload tomorrow, as it's getting late now .

Looking forward to the files you've mentioned.
1. Can I create a backup of the current kernel & ROM (the SE stock ones which the phone arrived with)?
In case something breaks during the process, I could hopefully revert to these.
2. Can I get the wifi tethering functionality without updating the kernel, only by installing a new ROM?
When I tried the "wifi tether for root users" app it showed an error message that the kernel is missing some components.
Xrecovery
So, here is the zip.
PS: All credits go to the guys in the following link (quangnhut123), he uploaded the files, I only wrote the installer script .

Change in step 4:
4. Extract the files onto your sdcard so that you find the files "chargemon, busybox, xrecovery.tar, readme.txt, installer" in sdcard/download/xrecovery.
Yes, you are able to restore your previous system via an xrecovery backup.
Please press thanks if this worked for you. If it didn´t please tell me what went wrong, I will fix asap.
NOTE: I havn't tested this yet, because I havn't had time to reflash & root my X10 MP. As said above, if it doesn't work, I will fix .
When I used the stock ROM, I used brancle for wifi tethering, It worked. Unfortunately, I do not remeber the exact settings. But I'm sure, It works.

What about my question regarding the kernel? as I mentioned, when I tried the other tethering app, the error it displayed was that the kernel is missing some components. so If I use the stock kernel, and only install a new ROM, will this still allow wifi tethering, or do I need to flash a new kernell as well?

Well, I don't think your kernel is missing components, that would
1. Disprove the links in your post and
2. Disprove what tommy posted.
Also, I'm pretty sure that when I was on Minicm7Pro (with stock kernel), I had wifi tethering.
PS.: Bro, if you are using your browser for posting and you are logged in, there's a "Thanks"-button on the bottom left of every post, or if you are using the android app, just click on a post and the option thanks (danke) will appear. Pressing this will for one thing be easier than writing thanks in a new post, and also, many people like it when their thanks meter goes up and will thank you in return.
PPS.: If you alredy know all that and I've just made a fool of myself, sorry . Besides, I'm just testing the method I described myself, I'll give you feedback as soon as everything works .

First of all, did the script work (yet)? Have you tried it yet? Sorry, I havn't tested yet, but I will do so today.
Secondly, MiniCM7pro always worked well for me, but if you like the stock SE style, try SonyStyle by the same developer.

Actually, I remembered, that i can simply see the settings in my wife's mini, which is with the stock ROM, and uses Brancle. I just tried it, works flawlessly. The phone is only rooted, nothing more. Here are the settings:
SSID - elka
BSSID - empty
Wireless encyption - five low-case letters, no numbers, no symbols, for example - abcde, ASCII encoding
Channel - 6
Custom Wifi Ad-hoc - none
Skip wpa_supplicnat - not checked
Auto Associate - not checked
Accsess control - not checked
New client actions - Notify (checked), Sound - Play a ringtone, Light - empty, Allow - empty
Local mode - checked,
DHCP - Gw - 192.168.5.1, Mask - 255.255.255.0, First Host - 100, Lease time - 1200 sec, DNS1 and 2 - empty
NAT - leave everything default
WAN- rmnet0
LAN - empty
What do you mean when you say "laptop failed to connect to phone" - tries, but can't get address, or nothing happens? If nothing happens, try to press the "Associate" button.
I remember, that there was something strange with the password - make it as simple as you can. If it is not working, try temporarily to disable encryption.
I cannot tell the version of Brancle I am using, but Market doesn't offer me an update, so it must the latest one, at least for the stock x10 mini with stock ROM. If you know how to check it - tell me, i will do it.
And something else - check the security settings of the laptop - are the Ad-Hoc networks and WEP encryption allowed? Brancle makes Ad-hoc only, not infrastructural.
Good luck!
EDIT/
As I see from market, the version of Brancle is 0.6.7 (evo)

Tnx Tomny.
I set the same settings as u did, still no luck.
The barnacle log shows: WIFI: failed to reassociate
Im using linux (debian), with network manager, which should be able to connect to an adhoc network,
any ideas?
TIA
Update:
It works for only a single time. The gnome network manager defined the wireless network as "infrastructre", and I changed it to "adhoc".
It connected once, but Im not being able to reconnect again now. ;-(
any suggestions?
Try to connect some other device, to see whether the problem is in the device, or in the Mini/Brancle. What do you mean, saying "not being able to reconnect"? - You cannot see network, you see it, but nothing happens when trying to connect, you can try to connect, but cannot aquire address (ie stuck on "connecting...")

[Help] Can't download files after 4.1.2 update/root on mobile network

OK. First off...Im a noob. My carrier is GCI. My device (obviously) is the sgh-i717. I flashed the at&t 4.1.2. update via odin. Flashed Teamwin recovery. Installed su. Rom and root seem to run correctly. However, I cant download apps from Google Play store or download apk from share site-on 4g LTE connection. Wifi- everything works... Web runs fine. Apps run. I have call/text/mms functionality. Battery sucks now but thats a whole different story... What is likely going on and how can I fix it? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
Edit: It seems as though I cant download ANYTHING if Im not on wi-fi. No apps from market, apk files, mp3 files...nada. Browser is slower than usual but still functional. Battery still drains about 20-30% faster. Can someone PLEASE point me in the right direction?
try going to app manager find play store clear cache data whatever it is and reboot.
That was the first thing I tried to no avail. I cleared ALL of the caches, even cleared saved data and re-synced my google account. It seems as though I cant download anything even mp3 files. Like I said, my data is running. My web works fine apps send and receive data. Downloading is my issue.
The next thing I tried was installing the new jellybean modem. Same problems. Everything works fine on wifi. No downloading files of any sort on the 4G LTE connection. Maybe I should edit the title of this thread or start a new one since this may be a broader issue...? Wish I could get more input. But you are on the right track...
Update: installed cynogenmod 10.1 and now everything works. Had to reformat sd to fat32.

Desperately need help with Google account

Z2 Tablet, SGP511 .402 FW
Rooted
Although this happened coincident with root, I don't see how it could be related.
I have lost all connection to Google. Gmail doesn't reach the servers: "No connection Retry". Play store (server error) and Drive don't connect. I tried to create a secondary Gmail account, but it never was able to talk to Google. Because of this, I haven't tried to delete the primary account because I don't think i could recreate it.
Every other non-Google internet service connects just fine.
Any ideas where to start? Thank you for reading to this point.
Me, again. Replying to my own question.
It's still not solved, so I could use some help. But I've found that fixing permissions from recovery completely solves the problem (temporarily). Everything will run fine until the next reboot - then, but only about half the time, it reboots with the Google problem back. If I remember to fix permissions before rebooting, it never fails.
Does this info give anyone any ideas?

1- is the tablet rooted or have you unlocked the boot loader?
2- have you tried a factory data reset?
3- have you tried clearing the cache and dalvik (if you are rooted)?
4- have you tried pinging a Google server from a terminal?
5- have you tried a different Web browser?

7- do you have any ad blocker or firewall installed?
i remember google services having an issue with adaway a little while ago, doesnt seem to be an issue now with the latest one though.

THANK YOU! For further help diagnosing, all applications that are simple internet interfaces (e.g. any web browser, weather app, Lastpass, tapatalk, etc.) work fine. Applications that do not work: Gmail, Exchange mail, Google Play Store, Dropbox, Google Drive.
"Fix Permissions" (FP) from recovery has, so far, always corrected the problem. From a cold start, If I boot without performing a FP, it has an 80% chance of failing; if i first boot into recovery and FP and reboot, has a 99% success rate.
1. Tablet is rooted, but boot loader still locked. I first noticed the problem after rooting, even though I still don't see how rooting could have provoked it.
2. Have not tried a factory reset yet - not yet that desperate, but may soon.
3. Clearing cache and dalvik does not help.
4. Pinging any and all web sites always works, specifically including mail.google.com, www.dropbox.com, play.google.com, and my corporate exchange mail server (even though the apps associated with those servers cannot connect).
5. Problem is independent of web browser choice (even the Lastpass browser works and logs into my LP vault).
6. Problem is independent of Wi-Fi AP, or even completely different Wi-Fi networks.
7. Tablet uses Adblock Plus. I have tested with that both disabled and enabled, with no difference.
Thank you, again.

I agree. After you do this check /system/etc/hosts file and make sure it only contains one line for localhost
This is getting even more perplexing. There seems to be an Adblock connection, but my testing is yielding counter-intuitive results. Please bear with me, because it is very frustrating.
Very strangely, when I remove Adblock (I've done it twice: once wiping cash/dalvik; once not wiping), I still get the services connection problem, but get this... then I can't recover by using my Fix Permissions trick. It's actually worse. I can't restore the services no how, no way. My only recovery - no pun intended - is to nandroid restore to an earlier version (with Adblock).
Even using Titanium Backup to re-install Adblock does not get me going. Only a nandroid back to an earlier version. At that point, a simple boot will fail, but a boot with Fix Permissions works.
My hosts file is, and has been, good, so that's not it. I'll be grateful for any further ideas on how to isolate this. Thank you.
Well obviously something you have on your system is causing this, so fresh install, no nandroid is the quickest fix and although you have said adblock plus isn't to blame, it has and does have lingering effects. Try using adaway or unbeloved hosts instead.

you rooted with the easy-root method which uses towelroot.
Which version of easy-root did you use?
Did you flash supersu zip from custom recovery?

Yes. I was an early tester of the zxz000 easy root implementation of the towelroot exploit, so it was a tweaked version of v2. Yes, flashed SuperSU zip from TWRP. All SuperSU functions are working.
Do you think a re-root with v8 and new(er) dual recovery might help? Thanks.
Don't know if a re-root with v8 would help.
The problem just reminded me to what happened to me when I used v3 and root didn't work properly after a reboot. I rooted again with V3 and than installed dual recovery without rebooting
before. Than in recovery I installed the newest version of Supersu (v2.0).
and Since than everything works ok, but I really can't say what exactly was doing the trick.
I would try using AdFree (from http://adfree.bigtincan.com/ ) and remove the Adblock plus app. Adfree doesnt require changing proxy settings. Things got worse when you disabled adblock plus because you probably forgot to remove the proxy that you set in your wifi for adblock plus, and you can only get Internet through that proxy if it has adblock plus to work with.

[ROM] TWRP stock pre-rooted flash of OK2 for N900P

This is a prerooted stock ROM of the OK2 update. It also has the sd card fix patch applied.
This ROM requires installing a custom recovery on your device, which will trip Knox.
All operations are done at your own risk
I would advise against flashing the EFS partition unless you know yours is corrupted (i don't think many people have that issue). The Boot, System, and Modem partitions all need to be flashed though.
If installing over Kitkat, a factory reset will most likely be required as lollipop installs apps differently. Also be prepared to lose all files on internal memory.
I would recommend backing up your OS before flashing. Also it wouldn't hurt to backup app data to make reinstalling apps easier.
Here's the thread for twrp:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-sprint/general/how-to-root-note-3-lollipop-t3089382
To install the ROM, extract the 7zip file to "/ExtSdCard/twrp/backups/{serial number}/"
using your favorite software (I made the file with ES File Explorer on Android).
Enter recovery mode (Volume up + Home button while poering on), and select "Restore" from the list of options.
There is a option to select internal or external storage to Restore from.
Select the OK2 stock rooted backup file. (Un)Check the appropriate boxes.
Restore the image to install the new OS
Here's the ROM

I don't suppose you have another link? It fails to download every time I try.*Edit* I didn't have drive installed just flashed cm nightly forgot to install it :silly: thanks. And keep up the good work!
Not right now. I know youl'll receive two or three different errors, but you gotta click "continue" or "download" or "download anyway" to get the file. If it continues to be a problem, I can setup a torrent server for it when i get home tonight.
It might also help to download to a pc, or on a Wi-Fi connection. I've had issues with downloads failing to complete using my phone with big files.

I do not know if there's a way to do so with to do so with TouchWiz, since I haven't used it since before the Kitkat update.
I've been using Go Launcher EX for awhile now instead, and it supports that feature.

I do not know. I use a third-party app for my hotspot. If you have hotspot services with your provider, the native one should work, but I have not tested that theory.
If you're not signed up for hotspot services, check here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2796994
or the "Wi-Fi Tether Router" app on the play store works very well for me (since this is a rooted ROM):
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.snclab.wifitetherrouter&hl=en
Just have to remember with that app to turn the device's Wi-Fi on before activating the hotspot.
Is anyone else having wifi calling issues with this rom? At first I got the error 16 switch message when trying calls of any kind off wifi, but wifi calling worked. Then I called sprint and they worked their magic to correct the error 16 message but I've had wifi calling issues ever since. Calls start and immediately drop on wifi calling.

I personally never had that problem. But I did notice if I tried to download a big file, or other devices on the network were using a LOT of data, the Wi-Fi calling would disconnect. Sometimes using the Bluetooth could cause problems since it uses the same antenna as the Wi-Fi... But I only had issues with that when transferring data with one or the other.
Yep, I know it can be picky, I have used it for years. This is the first time is disconnects immediately on every wifi call. Nothing has changed on my network. Comcast 75mbps, wireless AC router. It started with this rom, which by the way I love otherwise.
For sprint note3?

If you have successfully unzipped the file while the device is in normal operation. Then after you have booted into recovery mode (twrp) you should be able to locate the unzipped file with twrp. If it doesn't flash (Install) then something else is wrong. Is your phone already rooted ? If so what OS are you running now ? If not, You may want to root with supersu first. Do you have an SD Card installed in your device? If so, using a root file manager app like Root Explorer copy and paste the unzipped OK2 OS file to the Sd Card and boot back into twrp recovery and locate the unzipped file and flash from the SD Card.

This requires a custom recovery. I used TWRP to make the backup, and used ES File Explorer to zip it. If you don't have a custom recovery, you need a computer to install one. There is a completely stock ROM available if you don't want to trip Knox and keep your device completely stock, but that does require a computer.
Ok i ill try it again when im in better service i thought i had to put it in my backup folder

It took mine a good ten to fifteen minutes at least to go through all that.
Did you remember to clear your Dalvik and cache?
Moved to Android Development since that's where this technically belongs.

How does it belong in development when there is no development, nor has there been, any development going on in this thread? People needing help and asking basic questions doesn't count as development.
Restore or install?!?!
I have seen people say to "restore", "install", and/or "flash" this file. These are all options in TWRP. Which is it?
