[Q] Where to buy a new screen assembly for N9005 in the UK? - Galaxy Note 3 Accessories

I'm looking to fix a cracked screen on an N9005. I don't really want to go down the route of trying to take off the top layer of glass as I've heard the success rate for that is really low so I'm looking at picking up a whole new assembly, digitiser, lcd, the lot.
Obviously I've tried scouring a certain well known auction site and I'm keeping in eye on a couple of phones that I might be able to use to remove a working screen but I wondering if there was a certain site that people used? Ideally in the UK but if not then I'll happily wait for a shipment from China.
Cheers!

try dbxstore, n9005 lcd assembly, free shipping, free tools, hope this help you

Ive been through all this pain a couple of months back, and been scourging the whole internet space for a decent, trustworthy, and safe replacement part.
Then I finally made the plunge with an ebay seller from UK.
HTML:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/351366696294?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
The housing is genuine, and you have all things ready for replacement in case you have a cracked screen and damaged digitizer - like me.
I had really no big pain doing the replacement - pulling out all the components from the old motherboard, and replacing it onto the new, shipped one.
One note here, which I realized later on, if for some reasons you wanted to change the color of your note3, like I would not have minded going black from white, you can purchase it of the color of your choice, and later on buy a cheap battery cover to complete the transformation. Since I realized this only after purchasing my housing, and I really dont mind my white note3, I was okay. Just to act as a whitleblower, in case...
And for the story, my camera now has bits of glass cracked inside. I am still trying to find a suitable replacement rear camera module... I still have no reply on my post here, and still on the hunt for a decent, genuine one.
Good luck to you.

[TMO TP2] best way to repair body damage, or replace it

I have been using my T-Mobile TP2 without protection on it for a while and have dropped it a few times. The screen is still perfect and the lower half (keyboard) has relatively no damage other than a few spots of chipped paint.
But the upper half, around the edges, has took quite a bit of damage. Mostly chipped pieces and dents, partially because of me dropping it and also because the bodyguard I was using previously damaged it! It was one of those crappy snap-on ones. Will never get one again, just bought ghost armor.
Anyway my question is what is the best way to repair the chipped pieces and dents or is that piece sold somewhere so I could replace it? I have no experience replacing things on the phone but I'm sure if there's a tutorial anywhere it wouldn't be too hard for me. Besides I"m not trying to disassemble the entire thing just the upper portion without the screen.
Any help appreciated.

Best option...Ebay>buy broken (software wise) TP2>use if for spare parts
hmmm the only cheap one I could find listed was also worn...
was hoping to profit because i will probably be selling my TP2 soon.
go to ebay and search touch pro 2 houseing case there about 80 bucks they come in balck and red and black and blue the are a little hard to swich over to but i did it and it worked out fine just takes about an hour tools and dremal if and only if ure useing the tp2 t7373
I am trying to locate a replacement front HW button (back key is either cracked or scratched and light shows through) - so, during the lcd repair process, is this button easily replaceable without getting too involved with any other components? Any suggestions or advice on what to do/where to locate this piece of plastic would be met with extreme gratitude!
Get a new housing from eBay.
Just be careful to get one that fits your version.
My phone was stolen at work on Friday, so I managed to scramble and find one at a good price on eBay and it arrived this morning.
While I did ask to see photos, and I expected some scuffs, the photos didn't do the device justice at all, as it's much worse than I expected. In all the time I've owned my devices, I've never dropped my phone once, not once! this thing's a disaster.
So I'll need to get a replacement housing. I've been looking at eBay but couldn't see anything except these ridiculous colored housings for teens and 20-somethings. Where do real adults get the housings from?
This is an excellent outer shell protector, gives better heft holding (IMHO), rubberized black, very lightweight. Just snaps on and off.
Auction ended, but locate seller store. My Tilt2 fit perfectly in the Touch Pro Verizon except camera button needed cutting shell (trivial task).

You could take it up with eBay for SNAD, probably get a refund depending on the exact wording of the add, but if it was really SNAD should do it.

Eh? On ebay? You have everything from the original HTC version to various carrier variations, search more/wider. They're 40-80$ though.

I've been checking but I haven't found anything but these colored replicas and I don't want that. I'm willing to pay more for the original housing if I could find it.
As for the eBay complaint issue, I did think about it, but eBay is such a PITA about any disputes; they always act as though they don't want to get involved at all. In the end, I'll eat this one caveat emptor, at least this time.

eBay dispute process is tedious an long winded, but will lean towards the buyer in almost all cases. You just have to be patient.

Always pay with your credit card through PayPal. Ebay and PayPal suck at disputes; your credit card company is your fall-back and your best protection as well.
You can get OEM housings for $50-60:

Looks like it's kinda tricky to replace the housing (if you're going OEM)....

Great, thanks for the tip! I'll have to look into this closer, as I think if I go with the Touch Pro 2 OEM housing, there'll be a hole for the front-facing camera.
Maybe I'll just deal with it for now and keep my eyes open for an AT&T Tilt 2 housing somewhere. If it wasn't so beat up, I'd try a warranty exchange through AT&T; I was able to do it when I purchased a used BlackBerry Bold 9700 with no problem.
Can use HTC TP2 housing on T-Mobile TP2?

Hi there!
I've a T-Mobile Touch Pro 2 that is quite beat up too & I want to replace the whole housing.
Problem is where I'm living right now, the T-Mobile housing costs double of the standard Touch Pro 2 housing.
Is it possible to fit the motherboard, flex cable & LCD panel of the T-Mobile onto a HTC Touch Pro 2 casing with the power button?
I would need the touch screen & call/navigation buttons as well.
Please advise me if you know anything about this.
Thanks!

I'm afraid I don't know myself, but if you keep searching, I'm sure there is someone who's done it and knows for sure.

Replacement touch screen from china on ebay?

I have a cracked and scuffed touchscreen on my x10 and for $30 on ebay I was going to replace the screen. My concern is that I can get ones from China for half the price of the USA and some say 'Grade A no bubbles' but others do not, are these quality screens from China or will I be diasspointed?
Has anyone had a bad experience replacing their touch screen with the Chinese products? They say OEM but are they from Sony or are they knock offs and is there build quality concerns using the cheap ones?
in my opinoin when it comes to electronics , especially from china, you get what you pay for, id rather pay a little extra knowing that it will be ok
Agreed. With china there's a 99% chance that what you are buying is not OEM. Likely it's very cheaply made.
Yeah I hear ya... that is probably exactly what I would had replied to this post if someone else asked the same question.
I was really hoping someone would tell me that they bought a screen from XXXXX on ebay and it was better then the original but I guess I need to decide if I want cheap or quality.
I've already replaced the phone with an HTC EVO 3D but there is alot of life left in this X10 and it is a great platform for hacking and learning android. Plus they make awesome tiny tablets for around the house.
Thanks for the input.
I got white replacement from china which is quite good.. I won't say its authentic, but here in the UK most replacement dealers get there stuff from china anyway.
Buying from China is like cutting out the middle-man, the down side is just you need to wait.. And if you think they are not what you think your money's worth, you could always tell them you did not receive the item and get your refund.
try to buy from best sellers only...otherwise nothing is guaranteed.
Omar.
Hello guys, I operate from China is not good, shipping times are very long, why not order from Germany or thereabouts? I ordered this screen protector from Germany and arrived in 3 days, I am very well, without delays or other touch ... Regards, Joseph

Globalshining
Maybe i'm the lucky one, bought one from globalshining on ebay for 20 Euro and thought: well if this aint gonna work, it;s 20 euro's thrown away. But here in my town (germany) they ask 80 Euro for it. After 8 days!!! I received the piece: fitted perfectly but it was at least one hour work to get the overly scratched old one of and the new one on. I did search google for disassembling instructions for the X10 and found one with lots of photo's. Without these instructions, you easily brick your phone.
Regarding GlobalShing: its on ebay, or eshoptradehk dot com I first checked the ebay ratings: then decided to do so..
But do get your own screwdrivers cause the one from China dont fit at all....
Cheers
hey could someone help me with a link?
i just cracked the front screen on my fone and i need to replace it. would like to replace the whole screen and case.
i googled a few, but i was not sure if they included the front screen cos its the front screen thats cracked.
then i also learnt that the touch module is glued to the front glass screen, will the new case screen also have one attached to it or would i have to remove this one and stick it to the new one?

Well I'm still looking for a good replacement. I've done plenty of reading and research but I'm not sure which way to go.
Has anyone done a digitizer swap? What was the end result? Were you happy or did it brick your phone?
Any opinions would be nice to hear.
Thanks.
put a super amoled display from the SGS in it
Hi, I cracked my digitiser VERY badly, so I was forced to replace the digitiser... The LED was slightly scratched because of the drop, but I don't mind, it's hardly noticable. I took the phone apart like 3 times:
1 - taking it apart
2 - power button i forgot to put back
3 - had a little of $h!t under the digitiser

Broken Screen, what todo?

Hi
I have HTC Touch Pro 2 and today I broke its screen, it have 3 cracks on it now but strange touch screen is completely working without any problems. I also had screen protector on.
Now what do I have to do? Do I have to replace complete screen or I think I will just need to replace the screen digitizer?
Please guide so I can order it from ebay or if you could recommend any store from where I can buy quality products.
Thanks
Yep, been there done that. You have broken the digitizer glass most likely. I suggest that you get a LCD&Digitizer replacement from ebay like this one.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Digitiz...172?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c62be3b24
Do some shopping around I only paid ~$12 for my replacement.
Learn from my mistakes and get the set. It is next to impossible to separate the lcd and digitizer. You can usually swap around the various kinds of lcds too. On my sprint tp2 I installed a at&t tilt screen with no issues.
It is not to bad of a job to replace, but the first time is a little nerve racking as you have to do a total tear down. There are videos on the tear down around online. If you live near Seattle WA, I can give you a hand.

Hi
Thanks, thats what I thought too, so your personal experience says its impossible to separate LCD and digitizer.. thats too sad as it can save me some money but I wonder why they are selling so many digitizers alone all over internet, and that is just for $8 to $10 with delivery.....
So finally you replaced both LCD+Digitizer or you were you able to replace just the digitizer?
and I live in Pakistan so I could only use help here or on any IM
Impossible, no. You will go through probably a dozen before you get to a point where you could separate them 50-75% of the time successfully. You will spend way less money if you get a screen set, or a phone with a bad board/esn number to pull parts from. There is an adhesive between the lcd and the digitizer (usually along the edge). The lcd does not have a protective glass layer, and it is sooooo easy to pull the lcd coating right off the lcd base it is not funny. You could tear apart the one you have as a free learning experience. It is not going to cost you anything but your time.
Saw this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SYqNlM68_as
Well if its just that then its a piece of cake for me too, Im a technical person.... So what Im going todo is to open my mobile first before ordering and try to separate the digitizer from the screen and if I was successful then I will just order the digitizer and if I was not then I will order a complete screen set like the one you mentioned in your link.

Need help with screen replacement for VS985

Well finally broke my screen on my G3.. only appears that i broke the glass and not lcd/digitzer but from what I'm reading it's all sealed and not worth my time to try to separate?
I found this site that has LCD Screen and Digitizer Assembly with Front Housing (No Small Parts) for $89 which doesn't seem horrible. Just not sure what they mean by no small parts, I'm assuming they're referring to the cameras and motherboards.. Can anyone verify this is my best route? New to fixing phones, worked on plenty of small electronics just not a phone but I'm not near an upgrade and actually like this phone so replacing isn't an option.
Thanks for any help.. the broken section is causing my phone to do some wild things. =o/

No, do not waste your time attempting to separate the glass from the LCD, you WILL break the LCD.
You would come out a little bit cheaper ordering the glass and LCD assembly alone BUT it can be kind of a hassle sticking that part down.
Ordering it with the frame/housing is 100% how I recommend going about the screen repair for a G3 since it comes glued to the frame/housing... it's less of a hassle you'd have to worry about. Just transfer all of the internals to the new frame and you're golden.
However, I will recommend that you order the screen from the link I provided below... as the warranty on this screen will be good for 1 year, plus it's even a little cheaper. They are just currently back ordered until the 7th, but it's well worth it for a 1 year warranty.
Good luck.

Broken Glass - Replacement Options

Hey there, I hope this is the right place to post this, and if not, I apologize.
The glass in one corner of my S7 Plus tablet is cracked and I am looking to get it fixed, depending on cost. The touchscreen still seems to be unaffected by the broken glass, so I did not think I would need to replace the LCD screen, just the glass.
I contacted a local phone repair place near me to see if I bought a glass panel from Amazon and brought it to them with my tablet if they could do the replacement. They said that it would need to be the glass and LCD screen because they are fused together. The cost of the repair work would be around $130. That did not seem too high to me, but I have never been in this position before, so I have nothing to compare it to.
I have looked online for the cost to get the glass and LCD from Samsung (genuine part would keep the warranty intact from what I have read) and I am only finding pricing for Samsung Australia. That price was around $325 (if I did the conversion right), so I would be looking at over $450 (not counting shipping for the glass and LCD) at minimum.
I am not comfortable trying to replace the glass and LCD myself, so I know my options may be limited. My concern is that for $450 I could instead buy another nice Android tablet (or a Windows one that I can install Linux onto, which I kind of want to do anyways). Is anyone aware of any other replacement options I might be able to try or are worth investigating? This was the one time I did not get the extended warranty from Amazon that would have covered this damage...
Any advice, help, or ideas are greatly appreciated!

You want a OEM part not a CCP knockoff; the display quality may be inferior or have interface issues.
If it's an LCD display a used OEM one should work fine. Those can likely be found for cheap.
Or simply use as is.
Watch a tear down vid. I'm don't think they're fused. Most are not... although I maybe mistaken.

So that was my first thought, but the repair shop said they were fused and when I searched YouTube for repair videos a couple mentioned needed to heat the glass (broken one not the new one) to remove it and then gently remove residue or something. I am not confident in being able to do the repair myself (hands shake too much and really bad carpal tunnel) and am worried I would break it in the process.

Do some more research. If the are available used on ebay, it's not that hard!
Probably a heat gun properly used will do the job fine.
Lots of repair shops around and online; find a less greedy one. Or a knowledgeable tech at church etc willing to help.
Do Not get isopropyl or any solvents near the liquid crystal display!!!

Thanks for the advice. I will do some more research and see what I can find. Hopefully, I can figure out something that doesn't cost as much, but will still work well. I am still kicking myself for not putting it in a protective case and getting the extended warranty from Amazon that would have covered this.
