unable to save files to sd card due to insufficient file permissions when savind to p - AT&T HTC One (M8)

Hi, I flashed the Revolution HD custom rom and updated to the last android version. The problem is when I try to take a picture, I simply get the massage "unable to save files to sd card due to insuffiicient file permissions". The weird thing is that I don't have any sd card! Only use the phone storage. Already tried to reboot the phone, doesn't seems to help.
Any help? Thanks in advance.

Open the camera app, tap 3-dot menu icon, then open settings ("gear" symbol), then select General Settings and see if you can select Storage>Phone Storage.

[Q] HELP! "Download Manager" ruined my phone

Hello
I downloaded an app called 'To Do List' and it created a folder called "download manager" on my SD card which i have since managed to delete.
However, everytime i boot my Hero, it takes a long time to start and always gives me the message that touch input settings is not responding and i have to force close. And then my keyboard does not work. Also, since installing this app my phone does not recognise the SD card. It says "Unavailable" in Settings > SD Card & Phone storage.
I put my SD card in a card reader and connected it to my PC and it recognises it and this is where i deleted the "download manager" folder.
Since then i have installed two different Roms and both are still giving me the same problem.
I have since deleted the app but i think the problem is there is a file called "download manager" in:
Settings > Applications > Manage Applications
When i click on it, it gives me the option to "Clear data" . So i click on that and it tells me it will permanently delete all of this applications data. However, when i reboot the phone the file is stiill there and running.
I'm no expert but i think this is what's causing the problem. Is there any way i can delete this file so it never comes back cos its really getting on my nerves that my phone isn't working properly.
I have done a factory data reset several times but still i have the same problem.
I have done the reset through Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset.
When installing the new rom i have done data wipe, cache wipe and dalvik wipe.
Still the little ****** doesn't go away.
Can somebody please help?
Thank you.
try an Sd card wipe as well when flashing a new rom.. including wiping your ext partition and then re forming.. that is if you are using an ext apps2sd
i'm reluctant to re-format my SD card because i have a lot of music/photos etc stored on there. i do have them backed up on my PC however it does take a long time to drag them onto my SD card.
I deleted the download manager file from my sd card so i'm guessing the problem file it stored on the phones memory.
Is there no way to delete files from the manage applications part on the phone?
Well I think you should give it a go.backup your photos and music and then re Copy them. Even if it does take up to an hour it maybe better than living with the annoyances
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
Do you use apps2sd using the ext partition. Not wiping that would be a problem when flashing most new roms
Sent from my HTC Hero using XDA App
i re formatted my SD card and flashed a new rom and all seems to be ok now. took me a while but it seems to have paid off. Thank you so much for your help.
Your welcome.. slap the thanks button if you feel like it (cheeky)

[Q] UNKNOWN REASON -18 heeellllppp

Does any1 know how to fix this? Please!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=946986
Unmount the SD, install then re-mount it.
I know about the mounting/unmounting thing, but people have had success by deleting the smdl2tmp1.asec file in the "android_secure" folder on the sd card. I have not been able to find this particular file in that folder (connected phone to pc, and found all other .asec files, but not this one).
Has anyone had any success with this? or are there any other solutions for us besides unmounting?
adb install app.apk worked for me with guerilla bob game
im not sure how to unmount sdcard and install
hope this.helps
For some reason some apps won't update properly.
First go to:
Menu->Settings->Applications->Manage Applications
find the app and tap on the name. Then select the "Move to phone" button
Now hit the back button until you are at the main settings menu and then select SD Card & phone and tap on "Unmount SD Card"
Go back and mount your SD Card (same sub-menu).
Now update your app in the market. You can move it back to the SD Card when you are done updating if you wish.
That may work, except, I have uninstalled those programs (e.g Angry Birds) and reinstalled them from the market (after unmounting my SD card), which works, but now when trying to move them to the SD card, it says that it cannot....
This whole thing is getting rather frustrating, and it seems like there should be a deeper fix for this, instead of the hassle of unmounting, them mounting

You need to contact Google or the app devs then because this issue exists on multiple phones across multiple versions of Android.

[Q] How to get Cyanogen mod 7.1 to use SDcard for internal storage?

I have started using Cyanogen 7.1 and everything is great, except I would prefer to have the internal storage set to the SD card as in previous ROMS. I constantly change SD cards for Music and Movies and this the current way this is set up, screw up my apps.
Is there a way to modify the settings? Any help would be appreciated.
unzip this file and using root explorer, drop the file (vold.fstab) in /system/etc/ and change the permissions to rw-r--r--
then reboot
permissions should be:
Owner: Read, Write
Group: Read
Others: Read
I also have a flashable zip that swaps out the vold.fstab file in my sig.

Thanks, The DSP fix would have been handy last night and this morning. It will help others as well
I also have this problem. But when I follow your steps I end up with no SD card at all. Not even my extern 32gb card is available.
Then there is no other option for me to re-install the Cyanogenmod to get my external SD card back.
But the internal SD card is visible in the settings for storage, it says: Extra storage:/mnt/emmc Total: 5,51gb Available: 0,97gb
Back in my Ghost Commander, File Explorer or Root Explorer there nothing.
Can you please help me out?
Thanks in advance,
Remco
I am not sure I am at the right place, I am talking about my phone.
LG P990 ....
Use one of the new cyanogenmod nightlies or my repacked cyanogenmod ROM... there is a setting to switch Internal Storage to /sdcard...
CyanogenMod Settings -> Application > Use internal storage

I have this option to, but when I select it and reboot my phone both cards are gone.
So then I unselected it again and after a reboot my external SD is back.
I don't know... the rest of the phone is working great at the moment... oh and the strange thing is, I use Mantano Bookreader for reading books and my books are still on the internal SD but after some scanning Mantano finds the books. I can read them and all, but then again when I search in Ghost Commander or something like that, I still can not access my internal SD.
I just don't get it, it is not gone or formatted in a unknown format.
But anyway, thanks very much for your respond.

External memory card undetected

Hi guys,
My external memory card has all of a sudden become undetectable. Inside root explorer it appears as a file and not a folder. When i try to see its permissions it is set to read only. I changed it to read write but still its not detectable. Moreover it changes to read only on every reboot.
I was on Resurrection Rom v 5.10 so i updated to v5.14 with full wipe. Still the issue remains.
I have searched on google and it appears to be something related to kitkat. I tried a few solutions like running 3rd party media scanners or editing the permission.xml but all in vain
I tried installing other kitkat roms like Neat Rom v5.8 ..now i can see the extSdCard as folder but when i open it its blank...Moreover i can see the permissions set as rwxrwxrwx in root explorer, but if i manually go to set permission for the folder it gives a popup saying "extSdCard permission cannot be set because the file system is read only"
I tried installing stock JB rom via odin but still it didnt help ..
If i try to mount external Sd card from cwm it gives error saying"Can't Mount "
Note: I tried 3 different SD cards and all went undetected where as they were detectable on other phones.
Need help guys.
Attaching few screenshots for better understanding
If you are unable to read the card's data then consider it lost. Connect it to your PC in USB mass storage mode, it should appear as a drive. If you can read the data, take a backup else leave it. Now format your external card using windows.
It should fix the issue for you.

[Help!!!] Lost access to internal storage after flashing the TWRP and official ROM

I've downloaded the lastest official ROM, and installed it within TWRP.
Everything seemed to be okay after rebooting into the system.
While I found i was not able to download the wallpaper from web browseror to take pictures due to lack of storage.
I'm not able to upload pictures here, so will try my best to describe the situations:
1. after opening camera, it pops out "Turn off camera? /n Insert an SD card before using the camera. /n Cancel or Turn off"
2. when i try to save something from web browser, it says "couln't save due to limited storage space."
3. opening the file manager, I do find internal storage shown at the bottom, indicating 50.20 GB/total 64.00 GB. But opening it, only two folders appear, namely "Android" and "TWRP".
I wondered if it was caused by some read-only issue to the system drive, but I did allow TWRP to modify the system partition upon booting the rec.img.
I've tried a few rounds, the problem is still there. and my yota 3 is kind of a brick to me now.
Help me, please.
My yota3+ also lost the ability to write to the internal memory (possibly after I've inserted a sd card and decline formatting it). Searching for a solution only come up with a very old thread on HTC which involved commands on a rooted phone like msdos_fcsk and restorecon. I couldn't try these commands as my phone is not rooted. You can try these if your phone is rooted.
