[Q] Moto e lock screen and home button - Moto E Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My moto e 2nd gen home button doesn't work or bring me to the home screen. Also, I can't enable the security settings on my phone, so when the phone screen goes black, enen though I've set a pin and selected that method of locking it, it doesn't look the screen. I've even set it to lock immediatly after the phone goes into sleep mode but it still doesn't lock my phone. Doe ls anyone have a solution to this. I have Android lollipop 5.0.2.

[Q] Lock screen and pattern together

Seems like the other LTE SGS3 variants have the ability to have the normal lock screen and a pattern or other security lock screen enabled at the same time. On the i9300, if you enable pattern lock screen, the normal lock screen goes away completely. Meaning that when you lock your phone via the power button or have it timeout and you turn in back on before your pattern timeout is reached, there is no lock screen. I know I can select lock instantly with power key but I'd rather have the pattern kick in after about 5 minutes and have the normal lockscreen active before the 5 minutes.
This is native behavior on the AT&T LTE SGS3 but not on the i9300. Any way to get this working in the i9300?
I'm looking for this option also. My old Incredible took me to the swipe lock screen when I hit power to turn off the screen. But I had it set to require a swipe unlock after 10 minutes. Tried playing with the (Verizon) SGS3 settings and no go. They both turn on at the same time - only after my 10 minutes setting elapses. Other than that, the phone wakes (with the power OR home) to apps on the screen waiting to be accidentally launched.

[Q] Lock the phone right away when using lock delay

Hi,
On my LG Nexus 5, I have setup a delay for the lockscreen to 2 minutes after the phone is not in use. This is also true for when I turn off the screen with the power button (the phone will only lock 2 minutes later). I love this feature as I don't have to input my password too often when, for example, I turn the screen off and realize I forgot to check something. I just press the power button again and the phone is unlocked (if done within 2 minutes).
My questions is how can I lock my phone immediately without changing the 2-minute setting? In some cases, I would like the phone to lock immediately. Does anyone know how to do this without installing some new app on my phone? And if this is not possible, can you recommend an app that would allow me to lock my phone right away (for example when I tap an icon or something)?
Thanks!

[Q] Moto Display bug

I think there is a bug with the "Moto Display" feature in Moto E 2015 (3G version). I have ambient display turned off + Moto Display turned on. Even then, I am unable to see the time OR the notifications on the lock screen.
Anyone else facing the same bug?
I buy a Motorola X recently and till date not facing any problem but screen brightness is low.

It will only show by moving the phone. It doesn't work like the Moto X. You have to physically move the phone, and it will only work if the phone's sensor detected movement from a still position for about five seconds. I have no issues with mine, so maybe try turning both off, and then back on again.

I have tried moving the phone among other things - the Moto display feature just doesn't start. Maybe it's a bug with the Indian 3G version only?
I Also have the moto e 2015 3G version(India) but not face any problem with the moto e.
I think it's a software problem..
You can try the factory reset.
Sent from my MotoE2 using XDA Free mobile app
Its a software bug Dude i also have the same phone but haven't faced this problem. May be you should try factory reset.:good:

[Q] Notification Screen Problem

Guys,
All I'm trying to do is get rid of the swipe up screen when I awake my tablet running Marshmallow. The tablet should either go straight to the pattern screen or to the home screen (if unlocked with trusted places.) I didn't have the issue running Lollipop. This is what I have done to try and address this issue:-
- When device is locked, don't show notifications at all (in settings>sound & notifications)
- Disabled guest user
Have you got this issue? The tablet is also getting confused with Google now always listening mode. When it is unlocked and I say, "Ok google," it first tells me to unlock to continue, and then sometimes contradicts its self by perfoming the action that it said it couldn't perform as it isn't unlocked.
Thanks in advance. :highfive:

Marshmallow and "delayed auto-lock"?

Hi,
I'm trying to install Greenify on my HTC One A9 (Marshmallow)...during setup, I am told to turn on "Delayed auto-lock", which is supposed to be in the Security settings screen. Apparently at one time there was a "options cog" beside the "Screen Lock" item, that you would tap and set the auto-lock feature to work after 5 seconds or some amount. However, there is no options cog beside the "Screen lock" menu item, and I can't find where this is. I think this is a Marshmallow issue. Could anyone help me out here? My settings fulfill all the other requirements (No "power button instantly locks", Accessibility service is on, Screen overlay permission is on).
Thank you.

On a close to AOSP MM build (2016 Moto G4) the Automatically Lock setting appears between Screen Lock and Power Button Instantly Locks.

Yeah I have this as well, "Lock screen after..." but I assumed that this was something different. Because the feature I was looking for suggested 5-10 seconds, and the smallest amount of time on this option is 3 minutes. Thought they functioned differently or, something. But I set this to 3 minutes and lo and behold, the Greenify setup was happy. So thanks everybody.

Interesting - min on my device is 5 sec with several increments between that and 3 min.
