Samsung Root Questions - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Alright? I'm new on posting here, being an 'invisible' user. But I didnt seem to find a thread who answers my questions , so I decided to make one myself. So here it is:
Is it possible to root Samsung Galaxy S6 edge (SM-SM-G925F), without tripping knox and without loosing The Finger print scanner? I am currently living in Norway, and my phone is for Nordic operators. I hope I gave you guys enough information ?Don't hesitate, just ask if you want to know more.

Well, that posy said that that's it's not possible on the 5.1.1 update, so I guess there goes my dream

root is possible with 5.1.1 but will trip Knox..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3144866
or you did it with the guide posted before will also work but as the bootloader is a 5.0.2 one you will lose fingerprint but not trip Knox

-Yes the guide will work
-There is only one custom ROM at the moment and it's basically a stock one that is prepared for future mods
-ROMs are custom operating systems that give your phone added functionality/speed/a new look
-Yes, they're easy to flash with Odin
-Rooting invalidates your warranty
-Re-flash a stock firmware and use a USB-jib (£4ish) to reset the custom binary counter and no-one will ever know you rooted
hope that helps
yes mate and ive just been watching your youtube thsnk you !!!

Firmware

Hi,
I don't know its already being asked but here I go:
I'm using a Galaxy S3 with the official stock rom (that is the LUX from Belgium)
Today I've contacted Samsung to ask when the next update will be available and they say that it isn't soon.
Now I'm doubting to flash the stock rom for the UK.
But I don't know anything about flashing the radios etc.
And what are the pro's and cons?
Thanks

Cons you may brick your phone you may void warranty you may not understand the process if you cannot follow instructions .
Pros you update to whatever firmware you want when you want .
But as this is not a Samsung forum but XDA Developers forum waiting for official releases is not what we are about .
Stock rom Guide .

Thank you for you answer.
And I do understand that its not waiting for the release
Do you know what the ods are to get bricked? I flashed phones in the past so I know a little bit.
Will there be a problem when I flash the UK version that I can't use my mobile internet etc?

I've read it and it was very helpfull.
But I've still got the same questions.
Whats the chance my phone will be bricked?
And will I be able to use mms, internet, etc... or do I need to flash/chance the csc?
Thanks
The more reluctant you are to read, the greater the chance of bricking, but the S3 is pretty bomb proof, and don't confuse hard brick with soft brick!

If i use cf root to root my galaxy s3 i9300 will i be able to flash a custom rom? It says that the cf root was intended to be used with stock firmware in the main thread. Also how safe is it? If i follow the steps exactly as instructed what are the chances the phone will brick?
Thanks

Yes you will.
It means it is meant to be used to root a stock Rom, after that you can do what you like. Cf root is extremely safe if you follow the instructions, which are very simple. If you do that you won't brick your phone

Thanks for your quick reply. I have one more question though. Does it matter that my phone is locked and carrier branded? I always thought it had to be fully unlocked and unbranded to root and stuff. Thanks!

No, you only need to unlock if you want to use a different network, won't affect it otherwise
My question is after rooting and not changing anything else will you still be able to get the updates. I remember with the bionic I cou ld but not with the tbolt.
are you carrier branded as in US Carrier branded or something else?
If you're talking about a US Carrier branded phone, then you're in the wrong place. This is specifically for the i9300, not any other version. There are appropriate forums for your specific phone.
If you do have the i9300, then do as slaphead says. you're all set.

Oopsie daisy.... I could've sworn I read the whole thread from start to end.. Not sure how I missed that..
I think the word "carrier branded" set of red flags in my head since I was only recently reading about someone who tried to flash an i9300 rom with their sprint s3.
just wanted to make sure and not have to see another brick.

Is there a rooting guide on here? I am having trouble finding it.

Most seem to apply only to specific versions, etc. THere has to be a guide somewhere that just helps you along?
Like, do I need to downgrade before I root? Can I root without tripping knox? Does knox matter for my personal phone?
Thanks guys.

This is the G900T forum. If that's you model then look in the general section and there are several threads on rooting. If you have a different model, find that forum where you will probably get the same information for your model.

The Stock firmwares are yet to uploaded , the current TWRP is not compatible for root , it has already bricked device. Hold on for some time.
Also before u root ensure you have the Stock Firm.
just picked up mine as well and waiting for root and TWRP availability.
When can we expect a working TWRP release?

One important rule of XDA is never asking for an ETA. It'll be available if/when the devs release it.

I dont think the question is necessarily directed at the dev... but at time the technical needs that are required to generate a certain outcome (i.e. the comment above about firmware release, etc). we all appreciate all what devs do, but lets not get too defensive now.
The root should not trip KNOX. That is more important. Will that be possible is what needs to be deciphered.
I need root
I need root for galaxy S9 Plus
Please
We will have root fast enough and you will see it.
