Not to be negative, but is it possible that your tablet is counterfeit? Can you confirm the serial number with Sony? Or perhaps dunk it in water to see if it's watertight?

Very glad to hear that, uv101. I live in the US and am getting my Z4 tablet tomorrow. Bought it on ebay and am a bit paranoid about getting a fake one, which is why I brought it up as a possibility.

well' i live in israel so my only option to buy it was through an israely retail who imports in from china, as part of the import process they are forced buy the state to open the box and replace the wall plug with an israeli one,so i got and open box with a SAMSUNG wall plug, i also suspect thaqt they turned on the device and installed some localiztion and warranty software on it
anyway of you find on your tablet one of the two things i stated before' please tell me, thank you

Anybody else?

I can kinda see the corner of mine there like that too, but I don't think it's much to worry about. If you're really worried about the tablet being counterfit, run AnTuTu and see how the score matches up. If it's counterfit, it obviously won't be a Snapdragon 810.
Though, I really don't like how my tablet creaks a little when I squeeze the back. Does that happen for anyone else?

creaking is normal, because it's plastic, i didn't get to test mine yet, but my gs4 was creaking, but after some time i didn't touch that area it somehow stopped and my ps vita also creaks.
by the wa' do you have that scratch at the bottom of the device as shown in the picture i posted here?

Well, mine is black, so.. I probably couldn't see it all too well even if it was there, but no, I don't see anything down there. If it really bothers you so much, ask for a replacement from whomever you bought it from. I'd doubt they'd deny you.

Thank you
By the way, my tablet does creak

Interestingly enough, I looked into that. The "rear flash pack" the guy is talking about doesnt exist. The static image at the beginning of the phone with the back off is PHOTOSHOPPED to show an LCD on there. Yay, he touched an app on the screen that "turned on the lcd"! I could disassemble an lcd flashlight and tape the contact point, battery and lcd to the back of my phone and duplicate this video. I could even put an icon on my desktop to press too, just to make it look nifty! Notice how nowhere in the video does he show the back of the phone ON video in good light.
Oh, and very interesting that people have been asking the guy for the link for his "rear flash pack" for almost a year and hes given 0 responses.
Theres no proof of concept there. You know how ridiculous a mod like that would be? Not only would you have to have the knowledge of the circuitboards to solder the lcd leads on, but you would also have to know android well enough to know how to activate those specific contact points. Hell, we cant even figure out how to crack the rogers coding yet, what makes you think that someone out there figured all this out?
EDIT: Heres proof:
This is the "picture" from said video.
Increase the image to biggest size and notice the following:
-The LCD holes arent round.
-The LCD holes are PIXELATED
-The LCD holes are drilled right through a flimsy metal clip under the battery door. Look at it on YOUR phone and tell me how thats possible without the clip breaking into pieces and falling off.
-the rim of the LCD holes has obviously had the burn tool in photoshop applied to it (notice how its darker around the edges than any other part of the phone.
Oh, and the coup de grace: THE PICTURE IS AN UNBOXING PHOTO FROM THE PHONE'S RELEASE LAST SEPTEMBER. You can see the G1 box and all of the box contents on the floor right under the phone!
Well.. that brings us back to square one, ill bust out my nikon as soon as I get my phone up and running again, ran into some minor (i mean major) technical difficulties.

weird broken screen problem

I have no idea how this happened 5 minutes ago I was playing draw something on the tablet then I closed it did a few things and when I come back to it I have a large horizontal line going across the screen and a small ink splotch on the bottom of the horizontal line. I can't take a screen shot of it. The picture comes out fine. Can someone plz tell me if this is a hardware or software issue and how to handle it. I bought the prime in Feb so I don't know if I'm under warranty or not. Plz help this is extremely upsetting.

If you reboot and the problem is there during the splash screen, then I'd say hardware.

I guess its hardware but how could this happen maybe too ,much pressure in that area? How much/little pressure could cause this. Its even in a roocase. Will Asus fix it if I complain about this with GPS issues?

The screen physically is fine. No "cracks" on the outside so I wasn't sure if it was on the internal or software

Backlighting issue

Has anyone noticed that the bottom edge of your DNA has a slight 1-2mm shadowy area where the backlight is dim as well as random areas along the sides (this is not the capacitive light bleed which most units all have, which I don't consider a big deal)? I've had numerous replacements and all have exhibited these issues including a few Verizon store units. I find it surprising that this hasn't been reported upon in any reviews. It's fairly annoying on white and light colors, the majority of what I use the phone for (side-by-side with my 4s, the 4s has even lighting to the edges). I also checked out the HTC One in an AT&T store and couldn't see these issues, so it looks DNA rather than HTC specific.
It's a bit hard to make out from pictures, but it is visible.

that sucks you must be getting bad batches. Here's a pic of mine attached below, also I am extremely near sighted to the point where i can see the pixels on this phone no problem taking off my glasses and getting close. I can not find on a white background any light lvl differences. Id try another store to get your next replacement from or something.

If the top of that pick is the bottom of the phone, then I can see the dim area, but you're right about the sides looking uniform. I wonder if the refurbishment process introduces issues along the long sides.

Yeah, man; it's a curse. I'm one of those who notices the digitizer when the display is on as well.
Because of those lights, I think the top 1/8 of the screen is a bit brighter than the rest as well, especial if you're viewing in landscape. If you do the same on the bottom, you see nothing, like they didn't put any LEDs there. The inconsistency I've noticed along the sides isn't the exact same between any two phones (I've had a number of replacements mostly due to other issues). I bothers me pretty much any time I use the browser, maps app, texting, or anything like that, but I think i'm slowly getting used to it. From what I can tell of hands on time with the HTC One, it looks like they've mostly avoided this in that model, if not because of a larger bezel to hide the diffuser/LEDs in.

LCD Screen and Frame

Thought I would post this as I just brought one..
My Screen died yet again. after only having it in for service about March. Mind you it was here in Asus China.. so...
Anyway, It was giving me the dreaded black screen no turn on type thing, Plus a few of the other characteristics that have been documented in the Katkiss thread of late- Corrupted partition.
After the last battle with it, I ended up with a full strip on the left hand side about 50mm that is unresponsive.. nothing that you can do on the touch side of things, but mouse still works. Anyway.. wasn't going to send it back. as its not worth the aggravation of dealing with the idiots at the Asus aftersales service. So went and brought the Nexus 10.. Loving it..
but for project decided to look for another LCD screen and came across this seller with the full frame for sale.. so its about $US65.. so its my weekend project.. as Dam.. with Katkiss JB4.3 around.. I just want to play with it on the TF101.. Just not ready to let this thing die as yet.
I will update the post once i get it up and running.

Anyway..
Not to be deterred.. I got out the trusted plastic tools and went about separation of the screen from the LCD panel...new one...as I already had got the old one off with no drama..and cleanly.
Note..make sure you know which you are separating..as I found out the hard way that I was actually separating the gorilla glass from the touch screen...were wondering why it was so dam hard...plus one hell of a mess..
Lucky the original was still in good order so I finally was able to separate the new LCD panel and clean it up..
I almost gave up..but pushed through..it wasn't going to beat me.. plenty of man handling going on..I put it all back together...yeha..
Mind you I wasn't thinking that it was going to crank up as I was man handling the LCD panel pretty heavily ...but up popped Tims little mascot and 4.2.2 fired right up...sign of relief..
So straight to 4.3 I have came and its powering along...too good to be true..
Thanks Tim...and others that have ported the 4.3..
Of course I have a few more creaks from around the edges And a little light bleed on the left hand side but as I was lucky that the double sided tap from the original glass was still sticky and usable..
Will let it settle in and put it thru its passes and see how it goes before I pull it apart and pop some silicon in there..

Replacement grills for the Axon 7. If yours break or you just want to try another design, you can use these!
If you want a specific design, you can tell me and i'll do my best.
These models are UNTESTED - We don't know if they are the right size yet. Please print one and tell me where I need to refine the model!
They might be a few tenths of a millimeter off, but not more than that. my main worry is if the height is right - if someone can test and measure, i'd appreciate it (and fix it if needed)!
The grills are in .STL format, tolerances 0.05mm (You can open them with Win10's 3d file viewer)

Are all these holes needed? I mean the speakers are not this "long" right?
A black one with cutouts only where its necessary would be awesome.
In wish i had a printer :/
With a standard 0.4mm nozzle, the model with all the holes will not be printable on an FDM machine. Maybe with an 0.2mm nozzle but I think the holes will still cause problems.

The problem is that the top speaker is in the middle and the bottom speaker is on the lower right corner. So it would be really weird

As long as the outermost shape is okay, just with having the holes as rough marks to drill them later is enough. That's why I want someone to print and test them, so that I can improve the design until it can be printed and sanded as little as possible.
These models are based on a 1200dpi scan of the grills. They might be smaller or bigger, or the camera hole might be slightly off-center.

I mean get a piece of paper and write down your idea. I make the models.
You can send stuff to print and then pay for it. I don't know how expensive that would be but it's known to be a common thing, since people can make custom things like Rubik cubes and get them all printed and ready to assemble. Since these pieces are tiny I guess it wouldn't be very expensive. But I have to test them first and see if the size is right or not
i wish those speakers in black,is there any video that show how the remove/replace the speaker grills?
scale is bad....

I don't know why that could've happened, bur I don't know how to scale them. My .par files are on scale, around 70 mm long. I'll see how I can save them to retain the size, but it's weird

Well there are services where you send the file and they print the grills for you and send them... You're on Brazil, right?
