SM-G850Y lolipop for all user - Samsung Galaxy Alpha

Hello
Those who are having galaxy alpha G850Y and eager to update to lolipop, the update is being released in Australia and New Zealand. For the other user specially indian, the lolipop has not released yet. So there is a way to update into lolipop by australia firmware.
Do it at your own risk
Step 1:
download the firmware of australia lolipop and india kitkat from theis site:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G850Y/
download Odin 3.10.6 from here:
https://mega.co.nz/#!epshkJAa!y7pFS5-9RVhp4vDxTRAQARAwkjyQAB_9mDZWfXkLqko
Step 2:
After download extract the modem.bin file from india kitkat firmware with the help of winrar.
Step 3:
open the odin and put the australia firmware file into AP button
put your samsung into download mode and connect it with your pc.
now start to flash
after flashing complete it will say fail.
Dont worry the firmware is being flashed but for the different modem the process is failed.
Step 4:
Take out the battery and again insert it and put it into download mode.
now open odin and put the india kitkat modem.bin file into CP button and the start the process.
It will success and the phone will reboot.
Wolaaaaa
Your galaxy alpha is having lolipop

Do you have delays occurred in the case of mobile network LTE model it?
I tried two versions of the ROM. G850YDOU2BOG1 and G850YDOU2BOG4 . Both versions have the status of network delay occurred!
G850YDOU2BOG4 This version is slightly delayed sense improvement, but compared to the next version 4.4.4 or smooth enough!:crying:
When the device is in WIFI environment, network status is very smooth. So I had to give an official version of the ROM

Did you solve this?

Thanks for responding. My Chinese is not good enough to fully understand your post. DId you end up installing a custom rom then? Can you tell me which one, and how well it is running? This phone will be used by my wife, and I'd like to avoid bugs if possible. Thanks!

This is Rom I currently use, use without any problems.
In addition to discussing strings mentioned camera and Bluetooth in addition to the use of some BUG ..........
This is the native system infrastructure 5.1.1 version, so there are many user interface with Samsung completely different, I hope your wife can use habits.

Device location problem

Hy guys
I'm new to Android and 2 months ago i bought a new phone (S G S II) with Android 2.3.6.
I decided it's time to upgrade and i did it with odin, folowing youtube video guide i instaled Android 4.0.3 with i think a new Kernel as well 3.0.15-I9100xxlph-cl118559.
Now with this update i have a problem with my location, everything that uses this facility it doesn't work (location, gps, facebook check in) and so on.Don't get me wrong at first with 2.3.6 they all worked after the upgrade they simply stoped.
What would realy help me is a sugestion of a kernel,ROM and a version of Android 4 (.0.1/2/3/4) that would fully work and indications on how to install them.
I thank you guys in advance and keep up the good work :good:

Download the latest stock firmware using CheckFus entering data for your phone and location. Flash this firmware with ODIN as you already did. Using CheckFus should make sure you get the correct firmware.
This will not lock my phone on the specific carrier (orange) right?
Lock to a carrier? No, not by just flashing a stock firmware.
And after i download the firmware that checkfus says is the last one how to i operate with odin?
Can you please tell me the steps i have to go trough? because last time i saw a video and i did exactly like there so i don't know on my onw.

There are many threads here that tell you how to use Odin, one of which is by Intratech. These threads will help you flashing the firmware you downloaded with CheckFus. Just read them carefully and follow the instructions. Videos are nice but in the end a written text is much better, belief me, it is worth the time of reading
Well i did as you said and it worked, finaly i can enjoy my phone fully and i discovered i have NFC
Thanks for everything

Problem with custom rom

Hello everybody, my device is a Samsung Galaxy S Duos S7652.
I am new at this whole rooting thing, i did my first rooting to be honest yesterday and i chose PMP Ultra custom rom, because it was the best rom for my taste.
Unfortunately i didn't know about baseband compability , and my baseband version was s7562xxlj3 , and now my phone cannot receive or make calls.
I need help, what do i do??
I cant even find my original rom so i can install that, or even a custom rom that supports my baseband..
Can you please help me?
Best regards, Alkis.

I think you are mixing some definitions.
Rooting is providing root capabilities to the phone, this is a standard operation in the *nix world.
Selecting a ROM is formatting the whole system and put a new one and you probably changed the kernel (hence the baseband problem).
Fortunately the phone is not bricked (unable to boot), so my recommendation is try to check if there are other kernels/ROMs compatible and change it.
Fortunately this showed while searching: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42182649&postcount=1708

I would recommend either restoring a NANDROID backup in recovery and if you don't have a backup I would recommend searching for your devices firmware here http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/ and then flashing it via Odin. Let me know if you still have questions I'll be happy to help you out.

Actually i solved the problem with a little reaserch, i flashed a differend firmware, and then the pmp rom worked like a charm

That's a bit of overkill if they just need the modem, unless it's not been separated out of the original full firmware to flash separately, or you need to update the bootloaders.
To dosadnik2001: Which firmware you need depends on which region the phone is from typically. Sometimes other modems from other firmwares work on unlocked phones, but best to stick with what you know should work right first.
What I do not understand is how the baseband firmware and the custom ROM are related?
I've found some post about changing the baseband firmware and there they say that the ROM doesn't care about the baseband, so you should only change it if there are some optimized baseband that can make your network coverage better. On the other side, I found several post claiming that certain ROM is not working because of the baseband firmware version.
Flashing firmware that is not for your region is again questionable for me. Doesn't this going to mess up somehow the microwave part of the phone and you can have some issues with the network carrier eventually?
Thanks.

*sigh* You realize when you say "I downloaded this..." without providing what "this" is is pretty useless for us to help you troubleshoot?
What update WERE you on before you started modifying the phone?
What did you download and install?
What modem / baseband version is installed?
Wifi and phone functions are most likely not working because you either downloaded the wrong thing or didn't follow the installation instructions correctly. Typically this would be because of mismatched modem and kernel or there's a patch that needs to be installed.
Usually I would just say install the newest stock firmware (4.4.2) through Odin, but depending on what update the phone had originally and if you plan on continuing to customize your phone, it might be better to stick on an older system as the newer ones really lock down the ATT version.
Long story short: Help us help you. Provide ALL the details about what's going on and we can probably get you fixed up easily enough.
Sry
I337MVLUFNC1_880525_REV06_user_low_ship_MULTI i installed this rom , i was on kit kat 4.4.2. and i installed gummy rom which did not work , then realized i lost the @#$#@% backup here is what it says under about device: model sgh1337m
android version -4.2.2
baseband -1337mvluamdj
kernel version 3.4.0-517283 [email protected]#1
build number - jdq39.1337mvluamdj
selinux status - permissive
i have data but no wifi and cant dial out . wish i was more careful with my stock rom lol. i dont think the kernel is right ? Think gummy rom did something to it . can i fix or can i get stock rom ? I am on rogers carrier and need canada rom or to fix can you tell me if there is a patch .
I just realized that samsung posts their factory roms so i am thinking to go back to SGH-I337M RWC I337MVLUFNC1 4.4.2 . which is what I had there before , Do i need to do anything special before i flash it , this file is .zip so what is the best way to flash ? ROM Manager?

Got a new alpha and I have a few questions

So I got a new galaxy alpha (850F) which is an amazing phone by the way but i have a few questions
1) I noticed that sometimes the signal drops to 0 bars for a few seconds then comes back again, is that normal because of the metal frame or what ?
2)How much does the battery take to charge ?
3) I am still on Kitkat 4.4.4 and the lollipop OTA hasn't arrived where I live yet (I don't think it's coming anytime soon) so what's the best course of action, should I stay on kitkat ? Which official rom can I flash using ODIN ? Is there a toolkit for rooting and installing a custom recovery ?
If there are tutorials for these things I'll be thankful.
Hi Mazika2,
1) I have no idea and never experienced what you describe
2) For me battery charging takes about 1h - 1 1/2h with original charging plug (over USB on PC it takes much longer)
3) You can flash any 5.0.2 ROM via Odin.
Root 4.4.4: You can take Kingroot for example, Knox will not be tripped.
Root 5.0.2: http://www.skyneel.com/2014/09/root-samsung-galaxy-alpha-sm-g850f-by-simple-tutorial.html . Knox will be tripped.
Custom recovery: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-alpha/orig-development/recovery-twrp-2-8-clockworkmod-recovery-t2923587
Is there anything to reset knox like triangle away ?
I read a few threads about flashing stock firmware, what are modems and hidden.img ?
Which is better in terms of stability , battery, etc... kitkat or lollipop ?
And finally let's say I want to upgrade to stock lollipop using ODIN what are the steps to follow ?
sorry if these questions sound nooby .

1. Issues were noticed on this subject, mainly with 4G network. I changed to 3G and I hadn't more missed calls. I think the problem is more related to inconstant network signal than to the phone itself.
2. With the original adapter is really fast comparing with my old device. I never counted but something like one hour or less.
3. There are people who prefers Kitkat over Lollipop due to better responsiveness. Mine came already with Lollipop so I haven't comparison. For now, I don't have the need to root with custom rom's, the Alpha is superb as it is (except for the annoying touch screen issue...)

Knox can't be resetted once it is tripped! Keep that in mind. In terms of stability and battery I would say they are the same. It depends mainly on your daily usage of the phone.
Steps to follow upgrading your firmware with odin can be found here: http://www.pocketpc.ch/samsung-galaxy-s6-s6-edge-root-und-rom/226170-anleitung-flashen-firmware-odin-samsung-galaxy-s6-edge-sm-g920f-g925f.html

It's complicated, for two reasons I know of, probably more.
1) I'm not sure the chipsets in the F and the M are the same. I know, for example, that the A is Snapdragon and the M is Exynos. I think the F is Exynos, too, but I'm not positive. You'd need the same chipsets for it to work.
2) It's likely the F and the M have different modems, so if you flash F firmware on an M, you may end up corrupting your EFS folder and blacklisting your phone's IMEI on your carrier. You'd need to find out exactly what frequencies the F supports and make sure the M supports them, too. I've read there is a way around this by somehow re-loading two modem files from your phone's original firmware after installing the other phone's firmware, but I've not found step-by-step instructions that are simple enough for me to understand.
Even if those two issues are resolved, it's still dicey. I really want to find SM-G850T firmware and flash it to my SM-G850M, so we are in a similar boat. I can't even find someone who owns a SM-G850T, let alone the firmware. (I did find a question posted on another Site by an individual who said they own a SM-G850T. Unfortunately, half a dozen emails to this individual have remained unanswered.
so here is what I'm planning on doing
1) while on kitkat I'll root with kingroot without tripping knox to backup the EFS folder
2)flash official 5.0.2 using odin
3) try lollipop then decide whether to stay on it or downgrade to kitkat
I just want to know some things before doing the steps above:
1) what are modems and hidden.img in official firmwares ?
2)after rooting on kitkat, can i flash lollipop directly or do i have to flash official kitkat firmware to unroot then upgrade to kitkat ?
I don't know the answers to your questions: I'm even noobier than you!
I do know that when my SM-G850M upgraded to Lollipop, I HATED it. It ran slower and was choppy in the display animations, it cut battery life by at least a third (with no change in anything after wiping the cache), and I especially hated the new color scheme. So, I went back to KitKat. Had to do a Factory Reset to get the phone out of bootloop, but it was fine after that. EXCEPT, the Lollipop downloader reminder stayed on there and I was not able to stop the app or clear the data (those options in the Application Manager were grayed out. So, I flashed the SM-G850M with KitKat firmware from the Dominican Republic (Orange). I read somewhere that Orange was not planning on releasing Lollipop for their Alpha, so I figured this firmware would be Lollipop Downloader Reminder-Free. So far, so good.

Samsung Galaxy Alpha (SM-G850L) Queries

Hi guys!
I recently bought a 2nd hand Galaxy Alpha Korean Variant (LG U+) here in the Philippines for about 130 USD. I have done several Google-ing and successfully rooted my device (after several attempts and soft-bricks). Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the compatible TWRP md5/tar file for my phone (have tried several files but no luck). May anybody provide me the right one? My device has a baseband version of G850LKLU2CPJ1 and currently running Android 5.0.2.
Secondly, can I flash an international stock ROM (e.g. the stock ROM of SM-G850F) to my device? Is this safe?
Another is that, I came across several posts mentioning that a 2500mAh battery is available for samsung galaxy alpha, will it be compatible with mine even if mine is a Korean Variant? And may anybody provide a site or shop where the extended battery may be available?
Fourth thing is that I am using an LTE sim card and I have known for a fact that 4G/LTE signals are available in my location. However, when I am using this phone, it only registers 3G connections. Are there any tweaks that I can do to use the LTE signals?
Lastly, may anybody recommend a good ROM compatible with my phone. I very much enjoy using cyanogenmod ROMS but haven't installed any because of my custom recovery problem.
Thank you very much and hoping for some positive responses.

Theres a TWRP 3.0 for korean variants made by serenityS. Do not attempt to flash ROM for G850F/M/W to your G850L it will soft brick your device. The only compatible ROMs are G850S/K/L. Its hard to find a 2500mah. You can use 4G switcher available on google playstore for switching different bands. There is no stable build for CM ROM yet, you could try the epsilROM for the mean time.

Of course you cannot flash a custom rom to the original/stock recovery manufacturers wont be liable for the damages to yoir phone due to incompatible of flashed ROMs.
1. You should root first.
2. Install custom recovery.
Galaxy Alpha (sltektt/SM-G850K). Galaxy Alpha ( sltelgt/SM-G850L). Galaxy Alpha (slteskt/SM-G850S).
Your phone variant is SLTELGT look for the thread of serenitys for TWRP 3.0 i havent tried the latest build of modpunk which 3.0.3
You can flash the above ROM jumbo alpha from twrp if you have a stock ROM. Its a debloated /system
