Hard Bricked GS S4... Nooo! - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I was trying to flash the OC1 deodexed rom using flashfire everything was going fine it was flashing then it said it was going to reboot and as in the instructions I waited for 30 min to boot up and nothing but a black screen so I fell Asleep woke up and still nothing so I took out the battery and tried to turn the phone on and nothing.... No power, no usb connection sound, no recovery, no download mode , nothing works Ive been looking all day for a fix... NOTHING all I can do is a JTAG but damn Im broke right now... and a USBJIG but damn it I really need my phone working! USJIB there is no guarantee that it would work its a 50/50 I guess... Any Ideas on how to unbrick using a SD card like on a GS3 post I found using that method?

Which ROM did you flash, link?
You will need an OC1 debrick.img in order to recover. Someone on here that is rooted and on the OC1 bootloader will need to create the .img with the following ADB or terminal command and send to you:
Su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/debrick.img bs=1024 count=131072
You will then need the Win32 Disk Image tool to burn it onto your extsd card. Your device will boot from the OC1 BL on your extsdcard at which point you can go into download mode and Odin flash the OC1 .tar.

Ahhh, so that is how a debrick works.
Perhaps @dgutierrez04 would be willing to help? He is the first one who comes to my mind that has OC1.

Even though I closed my XDA thread they were linking to my AFH account. I just deleted the files so their links are now dead.
I'm sure someone will step up and come through with the files, it takes just a couple minutes to create the .img.

Thanks to @dgutierrez04 He provided me the debrick.img but I was not able to get my phone to boot up at all... I tried many times I re wrote the .img to the sd card followed all the steps, the batter is 100 percent charged I used my friends sprint gs s4 and no luck, I just ordered 3 different USBJIG'S hope fully one of them will be able to get it into boot mode, but not even sure if that would work since it wont even power on... Thanks Anyways bro, I appreciate the help Thats why I love the XDA FAM, God bless... :good:

[Q] Difficutly acquiring root

i've tried the root method for the sticky in the dev. section. One click user just stalls out at step 5 it seems. Elsewise .... how long is step 5 supposed to take? All i have to show for my efforts so far is the old boottriangle. I came from an Epic Touch 4g (which i had no problems rooting). Any helpful suggestions?
Thanks in advance

When it stalls and freezes unplug USB then go into settings uncheck then check USB debugging then plug USB back in. It will finish up the process.

Use superOneClick again and after it stalls out on step 6
simply unplug usb cable from computer for a couple seconds
then plug in back in and bingo you are good to go!
If that doesn't work just download this file and flash in cwm

.apk files are not going to be recognized by Odin. .tar files are recognized by it. If you don't have root but have flashed codeworkx kernel then close Odin download this to your phone hereand flash in cwm
Apk is an application much like .exe in windows
rev. *.tar i think i need to begin with a proper version of odin (which i can't seem to find.) By the way, i can't boot into recovery. had that been the case, i'd already been nandroiding and running CM7
Odin does not see the su-3.0-efgh-signed.zip

Odin will not see the .zip because it only recognizes .tar files lol just said this. Have you already flashed codeworkx Kernel?

you can also run:
adb reboot recovery
tried everything you guys suggested twice
then, i searched some more and still no luck. Frankly, I am a bit surprised lol .... this is always super easy hahaha
I leave for work shortly - anyone have any insights ? Greatly appreciated (will pay good money for help)

ok, i'm a little confused where you are right now with all this, so I'm going to start over.
1) flash this kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1285823) but skip the step that roots via superoneclick
2) flash this CWM file to acquire root (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286220)
enjoy.

Wait, you flashed my pre-rooted system image tar?
Then there is no need to use SuperOneClick or the CWM kernel - you should be rooted already.
Also, if you flash my kernel instead of the CWM one, it will automatically root you on the first boot.
Thank you guys I certainly appreciate the help. I look forward to flashing root / cm7! Afterall, aside from service, the main reason I switched from Epic Touch 4G.

How do you intend to write an img if the device won't go into download mode, recovery, or boot for that matter? Maybe look into returning your phone.

He doesn't need to boot into there to use a recovery sdcard. Me, @noobtoob, @msmercy42, and others (very sorry for those I forgot to mention, I have a very limited memory!!!) took tricks that the N900A guys got for a hard brick solution and came up with one for the N900T. Now, we're assuming this can be ported out to all other N900X variants but this still has yet to be tested. It involves grabbing about 200MB from mmcblk0 and writing it to an sd card. Not just copying it, but doing a raw write of the image file to an sdcard via the dd if command in either terminal emulator or a Linux OS environment.
If someone here has a N900P, I'd be glad to walk them through the process of creating a unbrick image for the OP. It copies over bootloader information to boot from the SD card, not the device. NO SENSITIVE EFS INFORMATION IS COPIED!!! This method has been done enough times to say that at least. .
OP: when you plug your device into your computer do you at least get a QCHSUSB port or the notification that a device has been recognized by Windows? If so, this method should work. If not, you may have a hardware fault.

You can make your own if you follow the link op posted in his instructions.
So...will SOMEONE post a working image? Lol. I don't have a N900P but I'd like to keep a running archive of unbrick images (in addition to space hogging firmwares) in my mediafire account to post links to. This way it'll keep the consistency of image size and contents; and most importantly people won't need to wait for it to be generated/uploaded.

bricked with adb

hey guys, i have no clue what happened. i havent fooled around and fiddled with my HDX 8.9 in months. i rooted it in december and installed safestrap last month (but i didnt use it. i only installed safestrap in anticipation of a rom) and out of the blue my kindles wifi stopped working yesterday. i decided to restart it bc thats the ultimate fix for all electronics but now its stuck on the animated kindle fire boot logo. ADB works and i can also boot into fastboot. Thats where my knowledge ends. i dont have the knowledge you guys have and i have googled this for the past 3 hoours but to no avail. i would find other help on other devices but i dont wanna risk ruining my hdx even more by trying another devices fix.
can anyone tell me how to recover from adb. i tried this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2530623
and it just booted me into fastboot and i would use this command: "fastboot -w -i 0x1949" and that doesnt do anything. androidcowboy seemed to have some problems with that method too, so im skeptical. is there someway to push a unmodified firmware and get stock back?? ill provide any more info you guys need. a quick step by step or a link to somebody elses page would be awesome!! a cookie to the best helper! :highfive:
PS i should also mention that i can in fact boot into safestrap. however, my backup does not appear. my internal storage in safestrap says 0mb. is my internal sdcard not mounting for a reason?
please help!

did you use the normal usb calbe to boot into fastboot mode? or you were using a special usb cable?
if you can boot into safesatrap, then your hdx is not a brick at all ,you can fix it in safestrap ,try to google the ways using the SS.

thanks for response. i was using a normal cable. are you sugesting that i load amazons official firmware over my stock partition through SS? this is why i was asking because this is what it seems google say to do. i was planning on doing that but i didnt want to mess my device up more so thats why i was asking. i was thinking of creating a slot and installing stock firmware on it and see if it was safe but because my internal storage doesnt mount and shows up as 0mb i was unable to create a slot and load the firmaware.
please be a little more specific as to what i should be googling and i will gladly do it. i hate asking questions in forums bc i dont want to be that guy who takes peoples time up for a simple solutioin but the truth is that i looked everywhere before i asked the question. i have a couple of methods i would like to use but i dont know which one is the right one and the safest one. im leaning towards reloading stock amazon firmware into the stock slot on SS.
thanks again and sorry for being a pain. im a noob compared to most of you guys but believe it or not im quite tech saavy.
anybody toss me a clue please. should i go ahead a flash stock rom? i went to dl stock rom from http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_left_v4_sib?ie=UTF8&nodeId=201357220 and it was a .bin. should i rename it to a zip? also, the file i downloaded is 488mb however when it downloaded it said it was supposed to be 795mb. i dled it twice and it came out 488 both times. can somebody give me a md5 of their update so i know i have a proper file. sorry to sound desperate but i need answers. :fingers-crossed:

Hard bricked sch-I545. Please help

Well I'm stuck with a black screen.....nothing. I know I can send it in for jtag but this is my daily driver so I'm hesitant and need it running soon. I was running stang5litre's oc1 rom and tried to flash gigilies port of albe96's super6 v1.87 ROM. I followed instructions to the T. I wiped then installed through flashfire. That could have been the problem but it was supposedly tested with it so idk. Any way I could fix with an sdcard or something? Thanks in advance!!!

No sir won't do anything.
Although when I plug it in it says searching for drivers for qhusb_dload. But after awhile it says that this device has malfunctioned.
turn it off again, hold Vol- and power.... (release power when screen light up) still nothing?
No sir but I meant when I plug it into the computer the computer says that.
That's really not good at all. I think JTAG repair is the only hope.

OK thankyou. I was afraid that was what I was gonna have to do. But I still have hope for some kind of sdcard repair. Lol
hard bricked I545 also!
Looking to see if theres a SD Card method before I have to look into getting it JTagged. I dont know anything of how or what firmware it has but its a friends phone and he doesnt even know how it hardbricked. I've been trying to read before I posted anything so this is where im at as I am a newb lol.
I have win32diskimager. I need a debrick img for sch-I545. I also have a 32gb class 10 microsd card.
I'm guessing I get the img, write it to the sd using win32disk. put it in phone, then try to power on correct?
I got a debrick img somewhere on xda, but it was labeled backup.bin, and I didnt really know how to convert it to .img correctly nor do i know how to check if its been written properly?
Any help would be awesome! thank you

First off if your friend didn't do any type of modding or flashing then the problem could be that the power button is stuck in the open position and you may need to get that replaced.
But if it hardbricked during a flash or something of that sort then The sdcard has to be the same amount as phone storage. So if you have the 32gb then in theory that would work. But if you have 16gb phone you would need a 16gb sdcard. I haven't had any luck but I don't have a class 10 sdc so that's probably the problem. Also from the videos ive watched on youtube (so i could be wrong) you don't need to change the file to img just click on the bottom right corner when you are searching for the file press where it say ".img" ".IMG" and change it to "." Then you will be able to find the backup.bin file. Then me know if this helps and or if it worked then I may have to buy myself a class 10 sdc. Thanks

Ya he works for verizon so im guessing he did or tried to flash something. He said it was hardbricked but didnt say how or what he did. I was able to write to the card changing IMG to . allowing me to choose the bin file. The phone didn't boot up or anything, could be wrong debrick img? wish I had different ones to try. This looks like it could be leaning to a JTAG repair, but I still have hope with the SD method.
I have the debrick image for gs4 oc1 I made it from another gs4 thru terminal if you would like me to upload.

i have vwz GS4 i try to unlock boot loader using EZ-unlocker that hard brick my device .neeed help to brind it back to life kindly upload debrick img and procedure
Same exact problem happened to me. All the way down to flashing the same ROM. I believe my battery popped out while flashing with FF, once I put it back in my phone wouldn't turn on. I'm in a bit of a panic over here :/
Unlocked to bricked
You can not unlock the boot loader there is no method yet to do so. I wonder if some of you have drained you battery & that's why it won't boot up to at least down loading screen. Try plugging it in to a charger for 1/2 hour or so then try.
If you can get to down loading screen you can hook id to computer & load the stock firmware with Odin.

Thanks in advance!!!

funny i just did the opposite I bricked flashing stang's new 2.0 on my OC1 OTA phone (got it for cheap after the update) just had rooted it and flashed my gDux to it no problems then flashed stang's and bam. the issue resides in the fact that when I made the OP for Super6 it was based on my downgrading to 4.42 Kernel then using Safestrap. Which a kernel flash has to have the -orig tag at the end of the block in order to flash over the stock kernel. This means that if your on OC1 and you flash a ROM you must not flash a kernel and if you do on accident you need to pull the battery before the install finishes and if thats not possible hold the vol down button in hopes of getting to download mode before trying to boot the phone or it will brick. so if your going to try and flash Stang 2.0 don't use his FF instructions the only time you need to flash a kernel in FF is if your upgrading with mdk, or Safestrap is installed on the phone. otherwise make sure the block for the kernel doesnt have the -orig because that wont work obviously. sucks Im usually more careful when flashing other's releases. if someone has the OTA installed and bootloaders at 5.0 an SD .img for debricking would be useful could someone please zip a result of this command from terminal in the Stock ROM:
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/debrick.img bs=1048576 count=128
if you zip the .img you'll save a lot of bandwidth. I'd like to try and attempt to revive via sdcard (doubt its possible I didnt have luck with NK and an SD) but if nothing else theres been some improvements the qhs_usb department it might be possible to force write the debrick.img I'll do some investigating but if anyones already fixed this issue please let me know

In desperate need of debrick.img for OF1 bootloader.

I'm working on a Verizon S4 for a friend for Christmas. The phone is rooted on the OF1 bootloader. I misread a step while flashing a ROM and accidentally flashed the OC1 firmware. OF1 and OC1 looked the same at the time, so I didn't catch my mistake till it wouldn't boot. I can't get into download mode or recovery. I don't have enough time before Christmas to send it out for JTAG. If someone rooted on the OF1 bootloader could make a debrick.img for me, then upload it somewhere, I'd really appreciate it. Using ADB or terminal, run the commands:
Su
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0 of=/sdcard/debrick.img bs=1024 count=131072
Any help would be much appreciated.
Would @muniz_ri happen to have access to one for the OF1 bootloader?

SD Card unbrick no longer works as of Firmware NK1. Meaning it doesnt work on OF1. Sorry. Your only option is a send away JTAG repair.

I have not been able to get my phone to boot yet either but i got the debrick.img that i posted earlier from my fiaunces sch-i545 verizon running OF1 rooted flashfire the whole nine yards....i also have a verizon sch-i545 that is Hardbricked but on closer inspection i actually have an SCH-I545PP(PREPAID) and withmy good luck there isnt even been firmware released yet for this varient..so are you sure you have the varient that you think you do?? because flashing the OC1 kernel with FF as you have described would not hardbrick your device..you actualy have to doit to get root via wondershare or atleast up till very recently...

this was the file i flashed
and clearly said
- Add OC1_firmware.zip If you coming from 4.4.2 or Below (its obvious that i dont needed to flash that)
that day i was like a zombie, without thinking i just flashed that thing, was so sleepy, maybe i check wrong boxes inside FF.
how i wish i can return back in time.
