Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 i545 No power, No sign of life, Message qhusb_dload - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hello,
I have a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 SCH-i545. This phone was given to me by my buddy from work to try and fix it for him. I asked him whats wrong with the phone he said he doesn't know he said he went to bed and left it charged and the screen would never come on any more.
I've tried working know good battery
Working wall charger & USB cable
Tried pressing Home button and power button together and holding it
Tried pressing different combinations of home/power vol up/down
Installed KIES thinking the drivers would load
Still cant get this to come on.
I tried doing the same things while having the phone plugged in with the USB to a computer but the only message i got was unable to load drivers for qhusb_dload
I finally found drivers from the forums and installed them, i looked up a few other threads that didn't specify the how-to for the S4 but i downloaded Odin and a stock ROM firmware for the Verizon S4 but still even with the drivers installed Odin was still not able to recognize it. I am unable to find a Guide specifically for this model S4 and after a lot of searching it sounds like i need either some kind of JTAG RIFF or some kind of MicroSD card 16GB or 32GB with some software on it. If i need to solider anything to the board I have no problem in doing so. If i can avoid soldering and do the SD card fix that would be even better or anything else that i need to do in order to get this phone to work again..
Can someone help me out with this S4 qhusb_dload issue or point me to the correct thread so I can get this phone up and going again. The Data is not important to him as he said there's noting important he doesn't already have.

Odin/Download mode is accomplished by holding down Vol- and power and then let go of only power when screen lights up (even if still black) ... that doesn't work?

The the phone work AT QLL? It doesn't seem like it does. If so, you have a chance of getting the debrick image on a micro SD...

...reading over this again, yeah you're hard bricked, going to need JTAG

Hi, yah after reading many other threads i feel like its called a hard brick and not a soft brick as you said.
I was reading about jtag but the device needed is called Jtag Riff and cost over $100, is that the only hardware device i can use in order to fix this phone? If there is another way can someone point me to a thread so i can try to save this phone?
Thank you for your help

As far as I know, that's it. Every other method, including USB Jig are for softbrick. - at over $100 for the JTAG Riff, might be better off hitting up swappa for a used/replacement device.

25 bucks on eBay to get it jtag. http://m.ebay.com/itm/181786279537?_mwBanner=1

[Q] Vibrant Hard Bricked

I was flashing my Vibrant back to the stock ROM using ODIN, and I had the re-partition checked off... and I think this is what killed my vibrant. If I click the power button it doesn't do anything. It has a full battery and even with it on the charger... still nothing. I can't see anything on the screen. What are my options to fix my Vibrant?

not a single button is working, either JIG i have it, what can i do?
Sorry to disappoint you; it seems that you are out of luck. I was flashing my Vibrant in the similar situation like yours and my phone has never turned on again since then (6 weeks). I live in Thailand and have been searching both English and Thai version for a solution. None comes up so far. The only way the USB jig will help is your phone can be powered up. I have tried that myself. You can look for the confirmation elsewhere in this forum. Any way if you can find a diy solution, please let me know and I will post it here if I can find one myself. Thanks!

they bro, i appreciate that your trying to help the guy but read.
the title states its a "HARD BRICK" meaning it will not turn on. If the OP has enough sense to name the thread its a HARD brick, then i'm sure he knows what a hard brick is. All solutions your leading to cannot be done AT ALL. The phone is a paperweight, you cant do anything but 2 things:
@OP
Do one of these 2 things:
1) build a JIG costs around 10$ a bit more or a bit less. but no over than 15$
(search JIG for vibrant on youtube by mobiletechvideos)
2) Send it to tmobile.
I hard bricked my phone 4 days ago.
I called them, and their sending in a replacement, and i send them mine and im done.
It cost me 10$ for shipping and handling but thats it.

Your first option is out because I have tried that. The only option left is the second one. since I live in Thailand, I have to ship the phone to my friend in Los Angeles to have him replace it for me. It is costly, but at least I will get a phone to work.
It seems to me that this issue is a special case that doesn't happen very often. Only the chosen ones will get into trouble like this when making an error here and there while flashing rom.
I had an IPhone 3G before and, of course, I made mistakes while updating it with all kinds of firmware, but the hardware never fails on me no matter what I did.
Thanks all who try to help.

Just because he put hard bricked in the title means little. It was his first post. He very well could be a aviid user. All I could go by is he said he hit power and nothing happend thats about all he said over and over. No battery pull 3 button try. So what I did was try to help thats it. I did not suggest anything to make matters worse. A lot of ppl thought their phones were "hard bricked" but they got it to come out of it. Just because your more of a wiz then most ppl here. I would appreciate if you would get off my back a bit for I was just trying to help.

I'm not getting on your back, why is it you think so?
Most of the users as i've encountered don't have the sense to name their threads appropriately, the OP on this one specifically named it HARD BRICKED, so instead of telling him to do all these instructions, you could've asked 1 thing "when you plug your usb, or wall charger, does it show any lights? or Are there any symbols on the screen? any lights glowing?"
Those 2 questions could've saved him, and you time.
Trust me i'm a beginner as well, i just know how to get out of these because i've been with this problem a few times. Alot of people here know more than me, specifically s15.. idk his full name.

Bricked the Galaxy SII

Think I bricked my phone somehow. To the story, I had phone in download mode to flash the leodroid rom which didn't flash at all, as I waited for 10mins to see if it would flash, but to no avail. Anyway, after that I disconnected the phone from pc, removed the battery, inserted the battery again then BOOM! Nothing, no download mode, no recovery, no boot screen, just a blank screen, a brick.
Dunno, if anyone else has had this problem, but if you managed to somehow get yours working again please tell me! And if you can't, guess I'll have to send it back. Anyone know how to deal with online shops, when returning phones?
Cheers in advance.

I'm no expert when it comes to things like this
but if you can't access download mode via the button combos
have you tried using one of these 'usb jigs'?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YRPWU4waa4
it should force your phone into download mode
i think you can either purchase them from a member of this site, forgotten his name :\, or there are plenty of options on ebay

Leodroid, I am guessing this is not a SGS2 rom ?
Well hopefully a JIG works, I have ordered one from ebay earlier this week, hope it comes soon. And yeh the 3 button combos doesn't work. Although I thought the jig won't work if you're unable to power on your phone. Guess I'll give it a go regardless. It wouldn't hurt to try.
Cheers the the help guys

it is, although its under investigation right now.
i had this issue but i was able to go back using 3 button procedure.
i would suggest you take battery out and pop it in and immediately hold the 3 buttons and don't let go until you see something on the screen.
Also, i made my usb jig the other day .. it literally took 10 minutes cutting thru the usb. Just go to any electronics shop and get 300K ohms transistor. put the usb you made in your phone and connect the transistor with your hand on the correct pins .. no need to even solder anything .. just make them touch for few seconds.
My brother held the phone and i held the transistor ... poped the battery in and i was at download mode.
best of luck.
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem here with my phone, a brand new Samsung Galaxy S II.
After trying to flash a new firmware I rebooted my phone into "Downloading mode" and starting (i think) a veery earli version of Odin3 software. But when I didnt know what to do I just shut down my phone and closed the applikation.
And then: Totally stone dead, as a brick. I have ordered a USB-thing from ebay, but I'm pretty sure it aint going to work. No response on either powerbuttons, combos or anything else. Just a black screen. Is the only solution to send it in to Samsung service center or is it any else more possibilty? (Excuse me for bad grammar.)

Why would he need to do that? He can't even see the Download mode screen. How is anyone at Samsung Service center going to see a counter that won't even come on.
Samsung Service Center is going to just jtag flash it, then send it back. Which also wipes the counter, and even if there is a hidden counter, it's erases that as well.
Anyways, I don't think the USB Jig would work. USB Jig will only work if the bootloader is still intact. The USB JIG uses a 300k or 301k resistor, not transistor.
The reason the thread is closed is because it was based off someone else's work, and not giving any credit.

Send it in for repair but say nothing about odin or root
I have sent for repair
Already sent for repair. I said it would not switch on or charge. To be honest I feel that samsung need to address this issue as if the operating system fails on a pc you can reload and away you go. The same should be said for a phone. There should be a fail safe that always puts the phone back to download mode. I thought the jig was the answer but not always so BE CAREFUL.
I sent my phone to tmobile they repaired it free
Repair Description
- Calibration
- Software update
- Replacement - A/S ASSY-PBA MAIN(COMM)GT_I9100

Same wonder
My SGS2 is hard bricked, no question about it. Nothing happens no matter what button press, usb connection etc. Dead as a doornail.
From what I've read the JIG will only help if you have, at bare minimum, backlights or a vibration when you hit the power button. As I have literally nothing this means I'm 'hard' bricked in which case the JIG shouldn't work.
I've a JIG on order and should arrive tomorrow. I'll try every which way with it, button combos, plugging in USB, removing and replacing battery etc. If i get any response or any success I'll report back. If not, I've found a few places that can JTAG so I'll go that route and again report back.

You are the 2nd person I have seen today, who got a brick after using Paranoid Android from theUnlockr.
Anyway, if the device cannot go to even download mode, try USB Jig. If you don't have one, you can create it.
Here is a guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/guide-how-to-make-usb-jig-reset-binary-t1604707
I repaired my friend's Galaxy SII using my created USB Jig. Jig forced his phone to Download mode where I flashed it with Odin.
If USB Jig doesn't work then JTAG Device may repair it. However JTAG is not very commonly available.
In that case, I am afraid you need to contact Customer Care Center and get the Motherboard changed.
Everything is normal after motherboard changed.
But your warranty may be void due to custom ROM and Root.
Also I think your device is Samsung Galaxy SII Skyrocket SGH-I727 locked for AT&T Carrier.
Then this is your device's forum where more knowledgiable people than me (because I don't have your device) will help you.

Help unbricking hard bricked SGS3

I dun goofed. I, very ignorantly, flashed the Boeffla kernel intl. version to my poor USA phone, which could not handle that.
Now, my phone won't turn on whatsoever. Holding the power button does nothing. Recovery/Download combinations also do nothing. Battery pull did nothing. Phoan is kill. I understand that there are other ways to fix these phones but there are far too many and far too few reviews of said methods. I believe my phone is hard bricked, so I'm not sure if other types of restoration are possible. I do know of ONE, that being JTAG, but I'm not sure I want to go that far. I wanted to know if there was anything else I could do, so I came to the source of all Android knowledge, XDA-devs. forums.
I've reviewed the "Official Samsung Way" that involved shorting a resistor to force the phone into Download mode after doing some other stuff. I don't think this will work as my phone is hard bricked.
I've looked at USB JIGS. However, they appear to only fix soft bricks.
I've looked into a more unique method, but I don't own a 16 GB SD Card at the moment, only a 32 GB, so I'm not sure if that will work.
(I'm a new guy so I can't post links. Just use tinyurl . com / srslyXDA (remove the spaces and you'll get a whole link!)
I have tried it, sort of, but I'm not sure if it worked AT ALL, or if it was the fact I was using a 32 GB SD card. Either way, I'd rather not buy the SD card until I knew for sure if this would work.
Just so we're clear, I'm using a Virgin Mobile (AKA rebranded Sprint) Samsung Galaxy S3. It originally ran CM11.
Any suggestions? I'm open to JTAG but only if there's a good tutorial for it. I think someone once recommended a RIFF box but those just happen to be a good sum of money.

Well I don't want to go about ordering every little thing and such. It may very well be that I need to get it repaired via JTAG, which could either be me doing it or someone else. Either way, I want to be sure. Do you know of anyone who has successfully revived an S3 with this method?
All u have to do is go to radio shack and get a few resistors, and make sure you have the right cord end. Very easy to make. Just takes a little soldering. I don't know of anyone that has done it yet on an s3 but haven't really asked around. If it doesn't work you're out maybe $5.

I don't think you read my post correctly. My phone is hard bricked, not soft bricked. It doesn't turn on whatsoever. It doesn't freeze, it doesn't boot loop. It stays off. No LED lights. No vibrations. Hard bricked. It'd be different if it gave signs of life, but since I flashed it with a kernel not made for my device, it is most definitely hard bricked. I'm afraid it'll need to be JTAG'd or booted off of an SD card. I don't have a 16 gb one on me at the moment so if you could let me know of anyone who does cheap JTAG.
looks like youll need to locate an sd card. I dont know of anyone that does cheap jtags but i did see a youtube link somewhere that was addressing jtag inquiries but it was from some time ago.
if you do locate an sd >>http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/galaxy-s-iii-gt-i9300-hard-brick-fix-t1916796
