[Ariel] I can't do anything... - Fire HD 6 and 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm not a big newbie, but here is my problem. I tried to install lollipop
http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-hd/general/how-to-upgrade-to-lollipop-root-gapps-t3163950
but forgot one step. Result:
my tablet boot, but I can't do anything. Flashify doesn't flash ****, and google play doesn't launch.
The only thing that seems to work is adb.
If I can have TWRP, I think I can work this out.
Do you know what can I do?
EDIT: For exemple, I can't delete some app like gapps.
And Factory reset doesn't work.

Ok, I think i messed up the tablet by installing stuff for the 5.2 update, but I didn't installed the 5.2 update. (this is my mistake)
I think what my fire HD need is some kind of hard reset.
JMZ dosn't install gapps anymore, I tried an apk of flashify but it doesn't work (is it the apk or the tablet? I don't know )
... Again, the kindle boot, I have root, I can install apk, but seems stable, but I can't do anything else. No google play store, no recovery. Also It seems that i don't have any recovery AT ALL...
Weird.

Ok, I found my solution.
I dd'ed twrp:
adb shell
su
cd "to_your_path_with_the_images"
dd if=453_twrp.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p7
as here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-hd/general/how-to-upgrade-to-lollipop-root-gapps-t3163950
and then, I upgraded to lollipop, and here we are. Thanks a lot for these files! I'm very happy to have a great tablet on lollipop !

[Q] Rooting and Superuser

Hi! I've just rooted my device (Nexus 5) with Chainfire auto setup and I've downloaded Superuser by Clockworkmod. When I opened it up, it showed a message saying that I needed to update the SU binary, I went back to the Play Store, I read the description and I found a link, that allows me to install it from a recovery files. Once I downloaded it I opened the app again using the recovery files, Android crashed and rebooted itself, but during the boot it showed a dead android image (the one with the red triangle). I've turned off my device (Nexus 5) and then I've reboot it, now all works fine. I'm terribly scared, what the hell happened? It's my fault or Superuser just crashed?

You didn't do any damage to your device. What it seems like is that you only have root access and not a custom recovery like ClockWorkMod or TWRP so when you went back to the app it went to boot you to recovery to install them and it rebooted you to the stock recovery which does not allow installation of files that aren't signed with a specific factory key. You should be able to update the binary with the normal install mode on the Nexus without issues. If you want a custom recovery, there are various ways to do it, but the easiest would be with the GooManager app (free in the Play Store) where you grant it SU access, hit Menu > Install OpenRecoveryScript and let it do it's thing. Then when you boot to recovery, you will have a version of TWRP. This is a great custom recovery. Touch based, Fast. Allows you to back up all the important parts of the phone so you have a system backup - called a nandroid (which you should do and save to a safe spot) as well as install custom versions of android, themes, kernels, and all types of other mods as well as a way to do a complete factory and /sdcard wipe if ever needed.
Thanks GOD!

That's why I love XDA Developers, because there are people that knows what they are saying! Thank you so much. Now I'm wondering if I should install a recovery mod as you suggested. Do you think I have to install Tasker as well? My first idea was to install Xposed modules, after rooting my device, but when they say "be careful it could **** UP your device" I wonder "Why the hell you should say that when I want to install them?", so I still think about that. Thank you again!

Tasker is not necessary for any of this. Tasker is for automating your phone to do certain tasks under specific conditions you set up. Such as setting your phone to turn on wifi based on location. You certainly don't NEED a custom recovery, but if you like to play with your phone, then it is a great way to be able to make a complete backup to restore in case of emergency. When you install and activate the Xposed framework, it will also create a zip file on your storage that will disable it while flashed through a custom recovery. If things go super wrong, you can also restore the phone via PC using fastboot tools and factory img files from Google. What I like to do is:
Download factory img files and set up adb and fastboot
Root
Recovery
Nandroid
Backup Nandroid and complete storage to PC
Flash whatever roms or mods
If it completely bricks and you lose access to storage then restore system from PC then redo recovery, copy files and nandroid back to storage and restore backup
bam - back in business.

[Q] Amazon kindle HDX Thor Bootlop

Hello!
Today I updated my Thor to 13.3.2.6 according to the instructions on http://forum.xda-developers.com/kin.../hdx-stock-images-pre-rooted-updates-t2911954.
No problems there. Afterwards I did format Data with Safestrap 3.75. When I did restart the tablet afterwards it got stuck in a bootlop. I have not a backup and I did the mistake to delete the zip file I used to update the tablet. What can I do to solve this?
I hope that anyone can help me! I have installed ADB.
Update: I tried to sideload "13.3.2.6.zip" but it didn't work, according to the device manger (on my pc) the drivers to Kindle fire HDX is not installed. Kind of strange, it worked fine before this happened.
Please help me!
/Josef

UPDATE: I did repair the softbrick by myself! I used ADB: adb push 13.3.2.6.zip /sdcard/
Then I installed the zip file in Safestrap. Now it works like a charm!

Acer Iconia One 10 B3-A20 softbrick

Hey guys,
I just tried to root my Acer Iconia One 10 B3-A20 (not A3-A20!!!) with Kingsroot and it kinda worked. I could grant root access to apps and modify some stuff, but unfortunately after debloating something went wrong and my tablet is in a bootloop. I performed a hardreset so I could start from the beginning. After completing the android set up I was thrown instantly to another bootloop. After some researches I tried to do the android set up but without the last step and I installed another launcher via playstore and email. Afterwards I could start and do whatever I want to do. Unluckily I'm again in an bootloop after I did a restart. I can't enter the android set up procedure anymore and can't install any apps from the playstore.
Right now I can do following:
- I can access the download mode and try to do something with adb, BUT I'm unauthorized and can't tick the USB debugging think as you can imagine
- Try to flash something via recovery, but untill now I could not flash anything
Does anybody have a suggestion? Stock recovery is still accessible, but somehow I can't flash anything.
Hope anybody can help me out.
Thanks in advance. Best Regards,
GerasVille
EDIT: It's solved and the thread can be closed.
Thanks to Shreps I could flash the stock firmware via stock recovery. Here is his post.

Hello, need help whith
I also had problems with kingroot, and decided to reset tablet "factory default".
The tablet would not start, loop on the logo. I saw this post, and download the "OS" official Acer ICONIA ACER ONE 10 B3-A20 and install it from a sd card and stock recovery.
Everything went well, the tablet starts asking me choose language, wifi network and login with google account I had before the reset. And here is the problem: I was not which account google it had before the reset, the tablet is 2nd hand and do not know how to solve this.
there any way you can skip this protection?
It is possible to flash a rom with spflash clean and able to put a new google account?
I'm bored to seek and find nothing.
Thanks in advance

Flash Stock Recovery Without Root Using ADB

Hey,
I'm kind of a newbie developer so please bear with me!
I have a WileyFox Storm, that runs Cyanogen OS 13 (kipper) as stock. A while back, I tried rooting it, and in the process installed TWRP Custom Recovery (which is a custom one made for the Storm). Well, the process of rooting didn't work (multiple times), so I gave up.
Right, it comes to today where my device can receive an OTA update. I pressed install, where it rebooted back into recovery. As it turns out, I forgot about the TWRP CR which was still there, thus, I could not update my device.
I now want a way to install the stock recovery (just the recovery), without having root access, and preferably without factory resetting my device (I have done this too many times and it just pisses me off!).
I assume I just install the .zip from CM's website, and side load the recovery.img using ADB but I simply do not know enough.
Please help, thank you!
)
Root has nothing to do with flashing ADB so you can go ahead and sideload it as long as you have the correct drivers for your phone
And my phone won't factory reset if I just sideload the recovery.img?
Yep you are correct
