expanding quickremote or other remote app - LG G2 Mini

hey guys,
the qickremote app on my d620r (sw official 5.0.2 V20a-EUR-XX) is rather limited. the only things it allows you to control are tv, blue-ray, and dvd.
however, i have seen screenshots from other lg phones (for example g2) which show much more functionality (like controlling a set-top box, audio, etc., and even an option "universal remote", whatever it is).
i have tried installing other remote control apps from the play store, but none of them seem to work for the g2 mini.
i also tried to install the apks from the g2 and g3, also without any results.
so here come my questions:
has anyone more functionality in their quickremote app than i do?
has anyone managed somehow to port this app from another lg phone with success?
has anyone encountered a 3rd party ir remote app which actually works?
thanks in advance!

The IR blaster only supports the things you see.
Plus, it is locked to only support the stock app (Quick Remote).

I'm just using the included "TV" app and it's working excellent. Not only does it give you Remote functionality, but also will pull in your provider's channel guides/listing for your viewing pleasure
irdroid or androidirc,
you can google it ,to find the right site to download, i did'nt find any application in google play

Honestly, Sense TV app that comes with the phone, does a real good decent job as a Remote app.

OP's question is still relevant. Until we have market apps that utilize the IR blaster, this is yet another feature that's dependent upon using a Sense-laden ROM.
Look up peel on the playstore... I haven't used it yet but it's supposedly used with devices with an ir port.

Ha gave a link anyway...
I'm looking for alternatives too, the built in App doesn't support my denon receiver and I can't seem to figure out how to tell the remote I want to use the menu button on my TV sometimes and not my DVR.
Not sure of any apps, but there are workarounds to your problems. Create completely separate remotes for your devices when you don't want overlap, or if it's just one button that overlaps you can map that to one of the buttons on the HTC remote app that you aren't using (for me, that's the "." button on the number pad).
Will the remote app still not support your receiver if you do it the hard way (programming each button)? Or is just that you would rather not have to go through that (understandable).

I'd rather not have to program each button. I'm longing for the Harmony folks releasing a remote app. Activity based remotes are awesome.
I'm actually looking for an app that will mimic the Apple Remote so that I can control my Macbook with it.
I am just looking for an app that will skip all the programming BS and just left me use it as a remote. I don't have any service as I use 100% streaming and downloading for my content. Also simple functions like power/input take extra button presses. Should be much easier than it is.

The problem with this is it requires a separate hub and doesn't make use of the built-in IR blaster. I too yearn for a Harmony-like app that makes use of my IR blaster...

Any quick remote

Hello developers have a question for you, be without some apk like "go remote" work on LG G2? For example the Smart Remote samsung G2 mini because the functions I see in the quick remote LG G2 are very few in both the G2 Great as the kids. Thank you for your attention. :good:
Nope. LG phones are not supported by any other remote app except LG's QuickRemote since it use its own proprietary closed interface rather than standard Android interface. Sorry.

Universal remote for all TVs

Hi, Im missing universal remote on Note 4. There is Peel remote but it does not contain my VIDO TV and there is no function to just place buttons on layout and map them with original tv remote like on LG Gx phones... is there any 3rd party app that allows it? Cant find one...
Don't know the answer but try this one. It may program with original remote?

ok, I will try ir right now. On LG G2/G3 I had I could just make layout of buttons and point original TV remote to map each button.
Ok, I tried it but not good :/ It has function to record your own remote but its like phone does not receive beam from original remote :/ when select other TV from list e.g. Samsung, everything works :/ maybe note 4 does not has function to receive beam like lg g2/g3 ? :/

In my opinion Peel remote is the best. I am using a JVC 32" tv, only volume and power works at default configuration. But u can troubleshoot the button values. Mine is working at 3rd set of values for the channel change and numbers.

I need help to unlock the IR blaster

Hello my name is Alber and I own a LG G2 mini.
One of the reasons why I bought this phone was that it has a IR blaster, unfortunately LG blocked it and 3rd party apps can't access it.
That means that i'm stuck with the stock app called QuickRemote, the app works fine for tv's and some DVD players but it doesn't let me use it for projectors or any other devices. Im using android 5.0.2. Could anyone please help me? I have my device rooted and I have xposed framework installed. I'd be so grateful if someone developed a module or an app to let me use the IR blaster with 3rd party apps. Thanks!
@likeadracula
After a lot of days of trying, i managed to take access of the IR blaster using a GPIO pin in the msm8926 soc but i dont have the knowledge to create a module and library in the kernel with that complexity and if i make it, sameone have to make a driver for the android HAL layer because all ather devices with blaster have a dedicated chip for control, ours not.
-Next is to try port the LG IRRC for second time, i managed to make it work the QuickRemote and take the support device list but the service of QuickSetSDK i can't get so lucky.
Anyway i dont have gave up, but i dont now the time that it can take.
