How do I extend the battery life? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How do I extend the battery life? Which is the best charging boeffla profile? stock 4.3

Use screen filter, it saves up 48% battery while using it.

also use clean master to reduce ram and cpu usage

Install BBS and Hibernation Manager for non xposed user, but if you had xposed you can install BBS, greenify, power nap and amplify.
If you had boeffla kernel you can just take UltraPowerSave.bc profile and put it at you device and load it at profile, done

Battery runs out quickly - what to do??

Hi. I have a S5830i and my battery runs out quickly. I tryed battery calibration app from market but nothing happened :/ Any suggestions ??
Edit: I used to have root but i use odin to get from razodroid to stock rom.
Calibrating your battery doesn't magically extend it...
Also what do you mean by quickly? Battery drain while playing games? Standby? Or other...
If you're experiencing battery drain in standby lower your cpu frequency (Assuming you have a custom kernel)
Also are you sure you haven't left your phones apps open in the background lol ? < Noob mistake
The usual Xx James xX only on mobile
(XDA Premium)
Which ROM are you using ?

if u want to try some rom..there are roms like simplicity which give good battery life..
as for tweaks, use cpu control to set max-min frequencies and also use "deep sleep" option..app for that is No frills cpu control
try to reduce brightness and set screen turnoff time according to what's best u think!
Optimize RAM usage by killing unecessary apps(scripts like adrenaline, v6 supercharger are good for that)
turn off automatic sync if it's not important to you..
Search for scripts and flash them(must have custom kernel)
There is an awesome app called "Juice Defender".. It's real good and provides lot of options and schedules.. One of the good features is that with rooted phones it installs more tweaks and you can see a substantial increase in battery life!

I am using stock o2 rom without root
may be it's just some app running in background..!
if it's not, then i assume that your expectation level from android phone about battery life is too high
if your battery works for you for one working day, then i assume it's normal (my personal opinion)!
is this happening to your phone ever since you bought the phone or just happening from past few days ?
if this problem is from past few days, then you should uninstall whatever you installed in past few days.
if you badly want good battery life, then i advice you should buy a new battery with more capacity for your phone
or you can also try and download juice defender from market!

I had root on my last rom but not now
first root your phone (espacially use rom). Then download battery calibration ,charge ur phone to %100,and click to calibrate.finally adjust cpu min to 312 max to 832(It's ideal).
no deep sleep
Hey,
I've a problem putting my phone into deep sleep. I've installed the thunderkernel (v2.1), which is capable to put the phone into deep sleep - however nothing happens. I'm using a custom rom (cm7).
I'm using link2sd with a ext2 partition (1GB) to extend the amount of space I've for apps. As far as I know there are no special apps running on my phone which could prevent it from going to deep sleep.
Do you have any suggestions/hints what is wrong or where I could check for the cause?

Hey,
I was using up to now No-thrills CPU Control, I've tested now for the last day OnePowerGuard and I would say there is no difference...
With both applications I'm using the smartassV2 Governor and the cfq scheduler. With both apps deep sleep is omitted and I have ~95-98% percent of the time a cpu frequency of 156MHz.
Any more ideas what I could check or what I could do to get to know which process or setting is preventing the deep sleep?

Sorry, but the default governor is "ondemand" which scales up the cpu very fast and needs ages to go back to lower frequencies. In fact I've solved the problem using Better Battery stats.
The problem were massive wakeups of the driver for the sdhc card (bmc.sdhc.3). I've reformated the second partition on my sd card from ext2 to ext4 and the wakeups were gone.
However you're right: OnePowerGuard is a quite nice application which make some tweaks to the system for people who doesn't want or are not able to tweak it, after I found the cause for the wakeups and fixed it, I'll think I'll prefer this app over No-frills cpu control. Thanks for you suggestion!

How To Fix SuperFast Battery Draining ? :(

my xperia z2 is running on android lollipop 5.1.1 w/root+recovery.......i thought upgrading from 5.0 to 5.1.1 will fix it , but i DIDN'T
i use greenify to close all apps in the background but that doesnt help :/
can somebody give me a fix!
thanks
This will depend on how much heavy usage you put on your phone, so for each individual results may vary.
Here are some of my battery saving methods i personally use.
Ampilfy - requires xposed & root
Greenify - on boost mode ( Xposed & Root)
WIFI always scanning in settings is switched off.
Queue Background data is off.
Location off when not in use.
NFC is off.
Auto sync off.
Adaptive Brightness on.
P.S get the better battery stats app, you will be able to monitor whats consuming your battery.
Screenshot shows how much one app like Facebook can be a battery hog.

greenify and the oneplus 3t

Does the app and the built in function of the o+3t do exactly the same thing or would installing the app improve battery life?
I'm curious as well on my OP5

Im using Greenify with my (ROOTED) o+3t. I made some test sessions with BBS and Geenify (with AD) improve MY battery life. I also hibernating few apps that waking up device too often. You need try and check if it can improve yours battery life. But with my device it does.
EDIT: Oneplus removed that built in function few betas ago. But what i remember it didnt worked with notifications so good than greenify does.
Any tip not to loose notifications?
I'm using Greenify on a rooted OP3T (OOS OB 13) and I'm getting good battery life with more that 7h SOT.
Only in the same time I have lost most of my notifications. And all the settings (Battery Optimization, Advanced Optimization, Nougat doze mode and Greenify) and last OS changes (aggressive doze seems to no longer be there), I getting a bit lost into trial and fail.
Any advice on how to make the best use of Greenify on my device, without loosing notification would be welcome.

Assuming Android 6.x base:
- you will need to install Xposed Framework and the donation build of Greenify for best results
- enable "Doze on the go" which is perhaps the most important tweak on MM
- also enable wake-up timer coalescing and permission to Greenify system apps
- forget about aggressive/shallow doze and/or deep hibernation (reasons are outside scope of this post); likely the source of your notification issue
- temporarily disabled other power/battery optimization apps such as Amplify, Force Doze, Power Nap, etc.
- remove any apps previously excluded from battery optimization unless you are highly confident they do not perform well unless excluded
- clear all apps from Greenify's action list
That should correct any notification issues assuming Greenify and/or one of the above apps was the culprit. You can monitor and add 'bad actors' to Greenify's action list as needed. On most devices this list should be very short (assuming Android 6.x or better).

s9+ battery draining

My bat is being drained out quite fast. Android os and kernel together uses about 30% of battery all the time as shown by gsam battery.
Can someone guide me how I could reduce or restrict unused processes.

Disable auto brightness, disable all advanced settings that use sensors, disable notifications of apps that you dont need norifications including system apps, in each app click on battery and disable background running. Freez apps that you dont need and system dont need. Disable smart manager storage options, disable smart manager battery monitor (i use greenify). Use black theme. Disable auto update and "keep mobule data on" on developer settings. Remove google search bar on homescreen, and if you have samsung music widget it keeps musoc on background too. Change wallpaper for non-infinity. Disable iris or fast unlocking. Depend on your kernel, block all wifi, bluetooth and nfc wakelocks. Could be magisk draining too.

No dumb phone here :good:
131 user apps, all system apps excluding freezed (screenshot). Auto-sync on, magisk, xtrememusic mod, viper, substratum with mods and theming. Notifications only on for apps that i need notification, dont need it in adaway, calendar for exemple. WQHD+ resolution, brightness at middle. And many system and user apps greenifyed

When you say they're using 30%, do you mean they're using 30% of the app usage? I.e. in the screenshots the app usage is 60%, in the second the android system/ kernel = ~23% so they're only using 15% which isn't as bad. Also depends on your usage. I.e. system and kernel will be high if your phone is just sitting around all day, will be lower if you're using it and the screen is burning power. Suggest you use it from 100% to <15% then upload some GSAM stats showing the front page, apps, screen and signal pages.
You can do good housekeeping and just remove notification/ location permissions for all the apps that don't need them.
Can also remove some services using ADB commands if you want to although sceptical of how much difference it makes without root

Greenify+ Servicely= Good combination?

Hi all,
I was wondering if I go for Greenify + servicely, are they a good combination?
Understood that servicely app is under Franco, Franco kernel creator, I was thinking that will the app compatible with kernel other than Franco kernel?
Servicely doesnt depend on rom or kernel, it just tries to supresses the wakelocks from selected apps and services.

OK, understood. Will try this combination and see how.
Don't use Greenify on Pie. It's basically useless because of how OS optimizes the battery usage. Also, the developer deprecated it.

Naptime works fine alone since you only need to optimize sleep behavior. The Pie itself can perfectly manage apps' battery usage already.
I'm using Servicely + Naptime during the night, and I get about 0,3% idle drain! So f.....ing amazing!

I use both, together with franco kernel, and battery life is awesome. I could use Naptime too in place of Greenify. I don't know about it being deprecated, it still is alive in the Play Store.
I use Greenify more for its Doze On the Go feature, I don't know if Pie caters for that. Naptime has it too.
On my Huawei phone which is unrooted, I use Naptime since Greenify's Doze On the Go is inactive.
Naptime:
"Why?
Because why the hell not?
Doze is amazing but with it has its quirks. It can take at least 2 hours to kick in (if the device is stationary, not charging etc). If you move around, even with the screen off, doze won't kick in, so there are a lot of potential battery saving opportunities lost, gone with the wind."
For Greenify :
"Doze on the Go
Android system uses a low power "significant motion sensor" (if present in hardware) to track movement and exits Doze Mode if significant movement is detected, because the stock Doze Mode is designed for battery-saving in stationary state. Doze on the Go effectively removes this restriction and keeps your device in Doze Mode even during movement.
Android 7.0 introduced native support of Doze on the Go and a new light doze mode, which blocks network access but not wake-up timers of the app. When movement is detected, it exits deep doze and keeps in light doze, and then goes back into deep doze after device is stationary for some time. The Greenify version of "Doze on the Go" will always keep your device in deep doze on Android 7.0, regardless of movement."
Using greenify on pie will likely break **** tbh
