Windows 10 wireless/wifi connection - Xperia Z3v General

I just updated my laptop to Windows 10 and lost the ability to have a wireless connection with the stock Z3v and my laptop. I can still connect with the USB cable, but It won't let me setup the wireless/wifi connection. I tried downloading Sony PC Companion but that couldn't find the Z3v. Any ideas?

What kind of laptop do you have? The basic way to get WiFi into your device is just to enable hotspot from your phone.

No, what he's saying is the Z3v has the ability to "Pair" with a windows machine over WiFi so that you can transfer data without the need to have a data cable. Windows 10 breaks that feature. I have the same issue.

Oh, how do you access the feature before? I just use superbeam to do that, although it requires WiFi and paid application on the phone...

I think when you are connected USB and you swipe down to the notifications area it gives you the option to pair.

That's they way it works but there is no option for windows 10. The Windows 8.1 option was to download Sony PC Companion but it doesn't find the the phone in Windows 10.

Same issue. Spent the entire week on this issue. Was wondering if anyone had the same issue until i hit this thread.
Maybe Sony would make an update for the PC companion or (As my z3 dual with 5.0.2 shows no windows 10 option in the pair menu. MAybe with 5.1.1, windows 10 option would appear).
Well maybe we just have to wait.

Windows 10 have WiFi connectivity issue
I have also same issues

I rebooted/restarted both the pc and Z3v after and nothing's changed. What else should I be doing?

I also tried this but still no connectivity. Sony Z3c (6.0.1) to PC Win 10. That will teach me to install a new pc at the same time as a system upgrade on my phone

If my fix does not work for you then there is no hope as the new version of pc software has the wireless file transfer functionality removed.

In networking, "ad hoc" is used to describe a (temporary) network between two equal devices. That is without any centralised access point or anything like that.

It's true that untill GB (if I recall correctly) Android doesn't support this type of connection, but it doesn't matter since Connectify creates a regular network (i.e. turns your computer or laptop to a wireless router) istead of creating ad-hoc network, therefore, you should use Connectify

Its quite simple.
there's two ways to do this.
1. Install PDAnet software from the android market in your phone and install the same in your PC. connect the USB cable from your phone to the PC and enable USB tether in PDAnet software. You will have a PDAnet icon in the systems tray in the your PC, right click on it and click on connect. You will be connected to the internet. that's it.
2. This is quite simple compared to other one. install Barnacle USB tether. Keep in mind that this software will work only if your phone's rooted. Install this software from android market. what this software does is that it will make your phone a portable hotspot, it becomes a wireless Router. you can give it a name to your network also enable encryption. turn the wireless on in your PC, scan and connect, you are good to go. you are on internet.
I use the second method, its very easy and simple.

[Q] Applications not getting installed from PC to device.

Hi all,
I have recently bought my Galaxy S2 and I am trying to install apps from android market. I log in to my Gmail account on PC internet and connect my S2 with PC. Then I chose the free app like Angry birds to be installed. Now on the webpage it shows below the app this message: "This app is compatible with your AirTel Samsung GT-I9100.", which means my phone is connected and compatible.
Then I clicked on the install button and a pop up appeared saying that the application will be installed [or downloaded] to your device shortly. But after that nothing happened. I waited for a long time and there is nothing on my S2. I checked the Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications, and it doesn't show anything there.
I am NOT connected to internet on my mobile, because I want to utilize my PC internet which is broadband. I have not enabled any other setting on S2 before doing this. I have only enabled the Settings -> Applications -> Unknown Sources option for convenience. Even the USB debugging is also disabled.
Can someone please let me know what I am missing? Or if there are any other additional settings that I need to do? Please help guys, I am pretty new with this android stuff...
Thanks in advance...!!!
It cannot download to your phone without it having a running internet connection I'm afraid.

Yes you need internet connection on your phone also, you cannot install it via the pc's broadband connection. Do one thing download connectify and make your pc as a wifi hotspot and then connect to the hotspot and then begin downloading.

Or you could enable data connection on your device like edge or 3g.
Now that you have a smartphone you should probably get it activated.
Airtel has plans like Rs 98 for 2gb Edge.
Thanks a lot guys for the replies.

[Q] Internet Tethering PC->Phone via USB

Yup, you got it right. Due to slow 3G connection, it takes a long time to downloading anything at less than 5kb/s.
I know most people use Phone->PC, but I want the reverse. Transfer PC internet to Phone via USB, because I do not have a router.

Either via USB or Bluetooth, yes. I could also walk around and find a good wi-fi spot where I could download X apps at X speed, but if there is a way to do it home, even better.

Perhaps your extensive technical experience can explain how a computer or network that does NOT have wifi can possibly create a hotspot while missing the requisite hardware to transmit a wifi signal.
Just use reverse tether. Simple

Not that I know of but if your PC is connected to the internet via Ethernet and has wireless capabilities there is an app called connectify that can turn your PC into a wireless hot spot .
I haven't played with it, but if bluetooth is fully functional and you have bluetooth on your PC, it should be doable. I have done the reverse with my Droid3. Maybe the mobile devices don't have the "host" piece and unfortunately I can't say for certain, but hopefully someone else can chime in and confirm or deny my thoughts. If nobody else can provide info, I'll play tomorrow and see what I can come up with.
Edit: I may be wrong. Based on the screenshots from this thread, it doesn't look like the networking profile is an option.

[Q] Hotspot problem

I have my GS3 I9300 for a couple months now. For the several time I tried to use it as a hotspot, it wouldn't connect to my laptop wirelessly.
It shows up on my laptop that is available, and when I connect to it, I get an error. Connecting the tether through USB works fine, I just can't seem to find out why the wifi isn't working.
Anyone have the same problem?!?
can other devices connect to your SGS 3 ?
have you tried to manually add the network that you've created?
i would also check if it works when you set your device as an open hotspot without a password/
OP i should edit the threads title unless you are after cookery advice .

Did you set it to allow connection from any device. At the top of the tether configuration page you can change it.
If you enabled it but did not add your laptop to the white list then nothing will be able to connect even without passwords.
