Vido mini 3G tablet help - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi clever android folks
needing some help..
I buy a year ago from dx.com a tablet called Vido mini 3G,,, its been really good tablet once I got it rooted and
xposed added etc
but this week I decide to try its hotspot feature since our home wan went down and had to switch to 3g and
wanted to share same SIM card data package with other devices like win8 and other androids
the hotspot aka wifi tethering just fails. it connects but stuck on obtaining ip and if manually give a ip it says connects
but no throughput happens.
has anyone got one of these tablets with JB 4.2.2 image from 20131119
and had same problem and found a solution
i suspect kernel or firmware issue.. like bad wlan driver??
the USB tethering works fine though
or better still is there a custom rom for this model I see a few for kitkat for vido N70 but I dont think its
the same hardware.

[Q] How can I get bluetooth PAN working?

Hello
I just got an Atrix today on ATT. Before I bought it, I checked online to make sure that it supports the PAN profile - which it said it did.
The reason that I want this is so I can tether my IPad (non-jailbreak) to my Atrix using bluetooth.
I know that wireless exists, but I want something that will be easy on the batteries for my phone.
I have tried the older version of "Wireless Tether" but that keeps saying that my phone is in an unknown state when I try to turn on bluetooth tether.
I did root my phone - but nothing else. Can someone please help me get bluetooth PAN working on my phone so I can tether my ipad to it?
Thanks in advance
Not feeling the love
Bummer, same problem here. I'm attempting to connect to a "imwatch" and not finding a solution to turn on Bluetooth pan. It looks like everyone has moved on to newer devices. :crying:

[Q] Lost wifi after flashing CyanogenMod7

I just flashed my friend's i5500 with CyanogenMod 7, latest release, and I'm having difficulties with the wifi. He has the i5500 from Virgin Mobile.
We can't connect to any wireless network anymore, I tried several basebands. Does the baseband makes a difference for the wifi?
Everytime we try to connect, it says either not in range (as it cannot see the wireless network), or it tries to connect and quickly says disabled.
The router is an AirPort Extreme (oh the irony), also tried to connect with another router, still same issue. We tried with a couple of other Android phones (some with CM7) and it doesn't work.
We had a similar problem using a stock 2.2 ROM from the US, so I'm pretty sure it's the baseband.
What baseband do you recommend for a Canadian I5500?
Thanks!

[Q] ZTE 3G modem with Android 4

I am trying to use a ZTE AC2726 modem with Android 4 (Zenithink C91 and Ainol Novo 7 Elf). I can enter the APN settings but not save them on both tablets.
Has anybody else experienced the same problem or even better has somebody found a solution?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have same problem with Acho C906 tablet pc
Actually untill and unless the network is detected you can not save the apn .
Check the activity in terminal using radio command if the network is detected or not.

Hi Ferrum
Hmmm I have gone through a few 3G modem since I wrote that post and lets just get real here. Android and 3G is not a straight forward thing.
When you read the specs most Tablets say that they support 3G dongles. Most of them are in fact telling the truth but some of them don't tell which dongles they support. So you receive this sexy little thing in the post and want to connect it to the Internet and ......
After too many trials and errors here is what I found.
There is no golden rule about which modems works with which tablet. I at least have modems that works with one tablet and not with another.
If you want to be sure that a modem works then you should buy the modem where you buy the tablet (and make sure they guarantee that it work)
The following modems works with most Tablets (some of them with all tablets that I have tried)
Huawei E220
Huawei 1750E
Huawei 156G
Huawei E173 (not all versions)
ZTE MF637U
Based on the manufacturers specs Huawei 1750E seems to be the safest choice.
Even when you have a modem that is recognized by the tablet you might have to configure it which has it own challenges.
An easy way to overcome the problem with 3G dongles is to buy a Tablet with built in SIM slot like the W1107. You still need to configure it but you are sure it works on all networks and you don't have to carry a dongle.
When everything is done you have the freedom to access the Internet from everywhere (where there is 3G coverage), but there are a few hurdles that you need to deal with first.
One solution that I stumbled over today is MiFi. There was a nice article about this in the March issue of IT-Depot's Android Newsletter.
Seems to be a great way to connect all you devices to one 3G Bundle. In Kenya the unlimited 3G bundles are quite affordable so if I can share one 3G dongle with all my devices I will not only resolve the issue with Android and 3G dongles once and for all but also save money on my Internet Connections.

[Q] Help With Blu Studio 5.0 d530

Hello all, I'm hoping someone can shed a little light on an "interesting" problem I'm having with my new phone. This may be my first post on here, but I have scoured this and other forums trying to come up with an answer but alas have found nothing, so here goes:
I am currently using Simple Mobile which operates on T Mobile's network. I have near-perfect signal at home but can't seem to use the damned thing for Facebook, Tapatalk, Zynga games, internet, etc without my interent connection timing out on me. I recently switched from Comcast to Dish Network and no longer have wifi at home so this is killing me.
This phone screams on wifi, and it seemingly works fine everywhere else via my data connection except at home. I normally show an H or an E at home. From what I understand T Mobile is replacing all of its edge circuits with HSPA+, so I'm thinking they just haven't got around to upgrading the tower closest to my house as of yet. I decided to get my girlfriend prepaid service on T Mobile with that $30 per month 5GB plan through Walmart and slapped the sim in my old Motorola Defy and it works great. However, if I put that same sim in my phone I'm back to square one with the same data connection problems, so I know this is not a problem with Simple Mobile (plus like I said as long as I am not at home my phone works well, too.).
So here's the real kicker -- if I use the PDANet+ app on my phone and turn on the wifi hotspot, it works just fine when I connect using my home desktop computer! This is so aggravating, why would I time out with my data connection for my own phone but as a hotspot it work flawlessly??? I'm pretty close to giving up on T Mobile because what good are they if I can't get a data connection on the phone itself at home?
Also I should mention that all of the APN settings are definitely correct. Perhaps there is a baseband selection that I can't find somewhere in the Blu Studio 5.0 d530 that may help (I know there's one in the Motorola Defy). Maybe it's because T Mobile recognizes that my phone is not a T Mobile branded phone (but the Defy IS), and if so, how can they push the whole "bring your own phone" thing so hard?
In any event, I may try just switching to Straight Talk but I really don't want to go through the hassle of porting my number and all that -- plus I'm not sure how good their signal is in my area. A search online for closest cell towers to my address results in T Mobile by a longshot.
Any help is appreciated, guys -- I'm frustrated to no end here.

Use Google Translate, if needed. Basically it just says that is the stock 4.1.2 rom with no carrier bloat.

Samsung J700m 5.1.1 Lollipop- Phone Surfs, but no connection sharing/hotspot ...

Suggested by admin to post here.........I have a J700m 5.1.1 lollypop, Baseband J700MUBU1AOL2, Kernel 3.10.61-919542, build LMY48BJ700MUBU1AOL2, SE for Android Enforcing SEPF_SMJ700M_5.1.1_0043, KNOX 2.4 ........, and am trying to use it as a hotspot and/or USB teather to access internet. All devices connect to phone/router....DHCP on router/phone work fine,,,assign DNS, IP, Gateway .... all looks good. Phone will surf without problems, but will not pass traffic as a router to internet. Tried setting up as static connection, rebuilt APN, New SIM, Factory reset, etc.. talked to local Telco(Pine Cellular in S.E. Oklahoma). Swap SIM to old phone and all is fine.Pine is a GSM provider with no restrictions. I can ping phones internal IP 192.168.1.14, but nothing outside of phone using it as a router(8.8.8.8)....Phone will pass all traffic to and from handset(phone surfs fine) just not through gateway. I am out of ideas except 2... could it be trying to pass all traffic through VPN that does not exist/ not set up or needed..or something like wlan=disabled.....or something like that? Hope this makes sense because I don't want to downgrade phones and they do not have a clue...Samsung is horrible, even second tier support . It acts like a firewall on the phone or similar is blocking all traffic when used as a router to internet....wifi hotspot, USB tether nothing works. Tried installing FoxFi...same. One of the Techs thinks it is firmware issue because the phone is from the Mexican market and I am in US. I thought about rooting and flashing a new rom, but it is a new phone so by, by warranty.... I have 2 of these, mine and my wives. I have rooted, bricked and repaired my old XCover so I have just enough knowledge to be dangerous.
+++++++++++++More info++++++++++++ my reply to answer from Android Central member who thought it was blocked by provider.
........I thought the same thing( telco blocking tether)...spent hours on the phone with techs. The company is small and has only 3 techs. I can swap my sim card to my old phone, daughters phone and a old Moto Blur and all work perfect... One thng I noticed when using USB tether on a win7 machine....connects ...DHCP assigns IP, DNS...etc and I get a balloon in the lower right corner of PC " additional login may be needed, click to open browser.." as if I was at a hotel or something... I contacted the CEO and was told there is no blocking of connection sharing. I tried to talk her out of a S5 in trade, but that was a no go.
The Telco wants me to take a different phone,(a huawei).. 16G down to 8G on phone, 5.5" screen to 5", 1.5G ram to 1G....... nothing they want to switch to is comparable and I am signing a 2 year contract, it is like signing a lease for a Cadillac Escalade and they want me to accept a stripped Tahoe with cloth seats for the same price. I would love to find the problem.
Thanks for any help.
