Help or Suggestions Upgrading to 5.0 or other custom ROM - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Hello,
I am new to rooting and never had much success. This is my first successful attempt. I followed this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-to-root-i545vrufnk1-4-4-2-12-1-2014-t2959613
and now have a rooted 4.4.2 Galaxy S4. SuperSU is installed and claims it disabled knox and Root Checker says I have root. I was able to change the file that disables continuous scrolling successfully but now I have another problem. I keep constantly getting this OTA upgrade notice. I don't know if I should do it or not because I dont know if I will lose root. I would like a bloat free lollipop or other custom rom and am open to suggestions. If you suggest a guide or method the more idiot proof the better because I really can't afford to jack this up.

On verizon, which hates rooting. Not worried about warranty because I have none. Its a used phone off ebay.
Android 4.4.2
Base I545VRUFNK1
Kernal 3.4.0
Build KOT49H.(Base)
Please dont treat me like I am stupid because I already know I am compared to most of you.
Thanks in advance for helpful criticism and suggestions.

All that sounds complicated. Im assuming I cant use the MDK instructions since I am on NK1?

Go into a root explorer ..Mount /system as read/write..go to /system/app/
Rename fota.client.apk to fota.client.apk1 and fwupgrade.apk to same but add a 1
Reboot
pretty sure thats how I did it two years ago lol... Dont quote me though google it and read.. galaxys4 stop ota notification. If Im wrong some1 correct me.

[Guide] ICS OTA Solution to Yellow Triangle

First, this is not an extensive guide.
Second, credit goes to -ViperBoy- for suggesting this to me on Twitter.
Here goes...
Disclaimer- This has only been tested with rooted .33 and I'm not responsible if you screw something up and/or iron jellyfish eat your junk. DO NOT RUN ICS OTA BEFORE ROOTING AGAIN AND RUNNING VOODOO ROOT KEEPER! This has not been tested with an unrooted ICS ROM being reverted back to .33 HC ROM.
Background- If you are getting the yellow triangle it is probably because you are rooted and have deleted a system app. Don't know why Asus counts bloat as system apps...but whatever.
Solution- go to Asus website and download the current version/region firmware. BE CAREFUL HERE (as of this writing the latest is .33 HC so you can still root it, but that may change). Unzip it and put the zip file into the root of the SD Card on you're TFP (the zip inside the zip... I'll elaborate more tomorrow to clarify. If you are confused here wait).
Then run it. This will un root you, but rest assured you can re root again before doing the jump to ICS. Now after restoring and rooting, Go to the market and get the voodoo root keeper app and run it. Then run the ICS ota and then restore root...profit.(I'll fix this all up tomorrow with links and such to make it pretty.)
Thanks again -ViperBoy- for taking one for the team!
Going to sleep now. Will come back to this tomorrow to clean up formatting and such. Tweet me if you have questions, it will alert my phone. @Techronico
I'm on unrooted ICS (went from rooted .33 -> ICS, forgot to use rootkeeper) and want to try this method to gain root. Will see...
How exactly do you "run it" again? I have the zip (from inside the zip) on the root of SD card and no idea what to do next.
Same here... If you're going to make a guide, please make it clear. This is ONE of the many ways that I've tried it, with no success!

Was Figured out last night during the update.

[Q] is the new version update geared to revoke root access?

I bought a brand new photon 4g and upon activating it.. I made the mistake of accepting the OTA 45.3.6 because now, despite all my efforts to root the device using AIO's, torpedo method, and even using the relatively new method that apparently works well with the Photon
@ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1235376
Im about ready to give up. Ive had plenty of experience rooting and flashing my HTC Hero CDMA and Samsung Epic however, i was not expecting this.
It seems the main problem with the AIO's is that they are outdated and I am only receiving error messages upon clicking the batch file (yes i have debugging while USB on)
If anybody could help me or give me an alternative rooting method I would be greatful. Would unlocking the bootloader before trying to root make a difference? Again any help would be super appreciated because I've ready the forums and used TFSE and im still coming up stock.
So I'm really new to the Photon too (came from an Evo4G), and had updated to the latest OTA as well. I just rooted using this method, it worked great:
[ROOT] Photon Torpedo, dockless root access
More specifically, I followed the directions here. Note: I did get an error message near the end of that process, but just kept going, and it worked just fine.
I haven't unlocked the bootloader, so someone else will have to chime in for advice on that....
That worked! And I happened to find another set of directions that made things even easier:

Root for 2016 ZTE Imperial Max

Recently purchased this phone (April 2016 ZTE Imperial Max). Love the screen quality but do not like the fact that it can not be rooted. I have consulted an app on Facebook (Root Without PC) over the past 3 months and have been given the run around. Is anyone aware of rooting this phone? Never done rooting so it would be something new to me. If anyone could lead me in the right direction it would be very much appreciated . Mod Edit: personal email address used. This site gets crawled by spambots so please do not post your personal email!
same here, i recently purchased the zte imperial max and havent been able to find a root for it yet. is there any way to know if xda is working on it?
Root for April 2016 ZTE Imperial Max
I have imposed the question to xda forum and hopefully we will be able to get a rooting method for this. I am sick of bloatware and not being able to hack my games. I want control over this phone, not this phone having control over me. I have heard that as long as the boot loader is unlocked, then any method can be used to root the phone. I don't know how true this is though. I have tried kingoroot, iroot, and towel root, and they aren't working... So I guess it is sit back and play the waiting game
I would also be interested in seeing a root method, especially since there is an issue preventing me from updating to the B05 update.

Sorry, found this thread from a google search, I wonder if a moderator will be able to move it to the right place, since it seems the OP made the thread on August 6 2016.
