Rent a center lock - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 5

So I bought this S5 on craigslist, imei number is clean, but an app called sec.abt locks me out of the device. Tells me to call rent a center which I did but they weren't sure what I was talking about. Is it a part of Knox? What is sec.abt?
I flashed CM12.1 and I bypassed the issue but when I restore touchwiz it freaks out again.

I was intrigued by this. According to this you've done what everyone else had done to solve this problem by installing CM12.1

There has got to be a way to run TW. Cm is great and all but it kills resell value.

I suppose if you are brave you could try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61731832&postcount=114

How about flashing the firmware, flashing recovery, then flashing a dummy zip that removes said item?

I'm testing to see if this will work. Fingers crossed :-/

It worked! I made a flashable zip! http://www.mediafire.com/download/v74hu6u3q7nl7l4/satechnology-rentacenterunlock.zip

Solved?
Were you able to solve this issue? I had the same thing happen on my wife's phone after using it for about 6 months, after going through hell and back I managed to re-flash the phone and got it working 100% with no issues.

Yes I made a full flashable zip file to help people who aren't comfortable with coding!

What's up with this? My s5 from rent a center works flawlessly.

Some people have bought there's on eBay or Craigslist and all of a sudden one day it locks the phone with a rent a center screen and tells you to call them or visit the store. Happened to me and they wanted to to bring it in, like I was gonna lose my 400? Hell no, I flashed it and problem solved.
Flashed with the oem stock pda by the way.

Rent-a-center code is still on your device. The code hangs out in a partition that Odin doesn't touch. Even if your phone isn't locked down you can flash my zip to prevent a future lock and remove the code.

yes, you do need to unlock the bootloader and you will lose your data during the process
this is for those who got the bootloader unlock already
if you're rooted use titanium backup and restore your data afterwards

as an alternative you can wait for the OTA to arrive on your phone , it will be updated and your data will be preserved

Technically yes, but it's really easy to avoid that. There's an app that lets you unlock the bootloader without using data and to install the factory image without losing data you just edit the install script and remove one little switch ("-w") from the last command.
It's not recommended - but it's easy to do.
How would I go about flashing this if I have everything stock except the kernel?

Thank you very much for capturing this one. I've posted this to the Portal
This update is quite interesting actually
http://paste.omnirom.org/view/38942c5a is the updater-script.
The only "main" check here is that you're not downgrading the version of the firmware, via a ro.build.date.utc, and that the device being flashed is a C6806.
Asides from that, it's a regular full install to the device.
The only "patch" file is recovery-from-boot.p, which will only update the recovery if it needs done. This seems to be designed to prevent a downgrade of recovery (you can't downgrade it if the zip always tries a binary patch on it).

Are you serious? Have you tried to press and hold VOL UP when you plug it into the computer? The LED should be blue (Fastboot) and if you press and hold VOL DOWN while you plug it in, it's in Flashmode (no LED). See if Flashtool picks it up. If not, well.. it's dead.

[Sprint|DEV|PGC|Snapdragon] Note 7 engineering bootloader/kernel! DEVS NEEDED

Here is the engineering bootloader/kernel for the Sprint Note 7 (N930P). This will not flash in any Odin version I've tried, including the newest 3.12.4. This was pulled straight from the legit TAR image, but attempting to flash the TAR or just the boot.img gives a Secure Check Failed : boot message in Odin. I have managed to flash it with dd in adb with our "userdebug" software leak (PH3), but upon booting, it gives the message below.
Hopefully one of you other talented people will have a solution to flashing this ...
Good luck bro! ?

This is strange, are you sure it's eng boot.img cause I get all eng boot.img before someone release them publicly, I had att eng boot.img for all models and T-Mobile s7 s7 edge... So if it was true eng boot.img it shouldn't give this error, it would just fail and not flash do to it either being patched or new software rev

Honor 7 (PLK L01) bricked. Func No: 16 (lpm3 image) load failed

Hello all,
my friend has flashed a zip file over TWRP on his device and after that, device want start. It load the rescue mode and writes
"Attention!
Please update system again
Error!
Func NO : 16 (lpm3 image)
Error NO : 2 (load failed)"
I tried to unbrick it with multitool and manually with fastboot. Writing of image files (BOOT, CUST, SYSTEM and RECOVERY) is everytime succesiful. After rebooting I'm landing in Rescue mode again. Device can't be switched off. Fastboot mode loads when I press the power button long enough and connect the device to PC short time after the first viration.
Force update with 3 key method also not working. Recovery mode can't started too.
The device had Marshmallow (not sure which version) before this issue. Bootloacker is unlocked.
Try to the same but with transitional package B300. It's saffer.

What should I try? Force Update don't work. in transitional package, Boot, Recovery or system image files are not present.

If you go with a lollipop Rom you might get botloop since boot.img and recovery.img are not compatible from lollipop to marshmallow and vice versa.

But I have not really a boot loop. Device starts to rescue mode and waiting for me. I flashed different marshmallow versions but nothing helps. I don't know, what the college tried to install over TWRP. I thing some non writable partitions are not okay and I can't correct this over fastboot.

Just try with different boot and recovery versions. Those are usually the picky ones.

If it doesn't start then it's a bootloop. I forgot to ask you if it was boot unlocked...

It's not luck, there are more stories like this. I think it's a general Huawei policy.

My thoughts too. Maybe he flashed something not meant for the phone.
