[CWM] Installation guide for PhilZ Touch 6 via Odin for Galaxy Pocket Neo GT-S5310/2 - Samsung Galaxy Pocket Neo S5310

What is PhilZ?
PhilZ Touch recovery is an advanced edition of cwm recovery, that provides more options and you can use the touch.
The original thread was posted by @karthick mostwanted who created this recovery for this device. He did it flashable with Rashr on a .img file, but the developer Leonnard Rai, made it flashable with Odin. In my case, I tried with Rashr but did not flashed the recovery, so I tried the Odin version, and it worked. I think it was due to the ROM I installed to my cell phone, because the developer posted it on the original development section. So in conclusion, this should work in case you have a ROM installed. See the original thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/pocket-neo/orig-development/recovery-cwm-philz-touch-t2937983
Requisites: To know how to use Odin :silly:
Instructions
After you flash the recovery,do the following:
-Get into the recovery mode and go to <Recovery Settings>GUI preferences>Toggle Virtual Keys and disable them, because they donĀ“t work, only the one to go back
-In that same menu, select "Menu Height" and select it up to get number 20, wich is the smallest, perfect for the little screen of the phone.
-Go to /sdcard/clockworkmod/ and create the folder "aromafm" and "custom_res"
-Go to /storage/extSdCard/clockworkmod and create the "custom_res" folder too (ih this carpets you can save pictures in .png files and then use those pictures as the background of the recovery)
-Download Aroma filemanager here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108 and place it in /sdcard/clockworkmod/aromafm/ and you will can use Aroma filemanager getting in Advanced Options>Aroma filemanager
Features
-Root Explorer built
-Binaries SuperSu
-Target sdcard
-Choose from check Root on/off
-Save and load the Recovery Settings
-Enter password in the Recovery
-Change colors and background
-Gestures
-Virtual buttons
-Size and sensitivity of menus
-Option "Clean to Install a New ROM"

Some piece of advice, touch works only for scrolling, when selecting an option, you will NEED to press the home button.

[Q] Nandroid backup failure with ROM Backup / Clockwork Recovery

I've rooted my Vibrant, and am ready to flash the BionixFinal_R1_Stock.zip with ROM Manager (Clockwork Mod Recovery), but first I'm supposed to do a nandroid (complete) backup, and I cannot. It doesn't work like they say it will.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/0...nandroid-backup-and-clockworkmod-rom-manager/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7324731&postcount=1
I always end up back at the place where I have to choose re-boot, reinstall, etc., and whatever I pick the backup does not occur, I just end up with a re-boot. Help?
Someone told me I should try again, so I did, recording all the steps ... same result:
USB Debugging is 'on'.
ROM Manager Premiun v 3.0.0.2: started.
Pressing "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" (text says "current recovery: ClockworkMod 2.5.1.2
Pressing "Galaxy S. Vibrant"
Popup window: Successfully downloaded ClockworkMod recovery! Pressing "OK"
Pressing "Reboot into Recovery"
"Are you sure you want to reboot into ClockWork Recovery?" Press Yes.
Screen appears with blue top and yellow/green text at the bottom.

<selecting "reboot system now">
addt'l yellow/green text: ~"phone reset done" (it didn't last so not sure if I got this exactly right)
Getting now a regular re-boot ("Vibrant", then the Galaxy S graphic, etc.)
Run ROM Manager
Press "Backup Current ROM"
Popup: Backup Name; New Backup Name 2010-12-27-18.56.11
Press OK
Rebooting: "VIBRANT"
Back to the same blue and yellow/green window, witn the same text.
Selecting "reboot system now
Standard reboot.
Back to where I started (my phone is on, but checking the memory, no backup occurred).
The blue text recovery is stock recovery, here you select "reinstall packages", and this flashes the update.zip that should be on your sd card, back when you were in rom manager and selected "flash clockwork recovery" rom manager puts this file on your phone, leave it there. Anyways, when you reinstall packages in stock recovery, your phone may reboot, to stock recovery again, select reinstall packages again and you should now be in clockwork, you can tell by the expanded menus and green text. It should say clockwork recovery at the bottom as well.

Sorry if I've posted so much that my question got lost:
What should I do if ROM Manager won't do a nandroid backup for me, before I flash a new ROM?
[ ] Ignore the problem and proceed to flash the new (Bionix) ROM
[ ] Give up and live with a phone that freezes, delays, and is great the rest of the time?
[ ] Other (please explain)
Try performing the Nandroid backup from CWM Recovery instead of ROM Manager.
1.) Boot into CWM Recovery either via ROM Manager, adb reboot recovery, or using the hardware buttons.
2.) If you are at the stock 2e recovery (blue text) select reinstall packages.
3.) CWM Recovery will be loaded and you should be at the CWM Recovery (green text). If not repeat step 2.
4.) Select backup and restore.
5.) Select backup
6.) CWM Recovery will proceed to perform a Nandroid backup. After it finishes reboot your phone
Turns out that, after I thought I'd tried everything, correctly, I archived a file called update.zip, thinking it was causing a problem. Turns out that CWM Recovery is actually in update.zip. When I put it back ... Voila! Found this on a tip from the author of a very nice, alternate tutorial on rooting/flashing:
http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/Samsu...resent-Tired-of-all-the-2-2-hoopla/m-p/607377
i pointed that out in my response to you, at any rate, glad you got it fixed.
on my desire hd i just get a red triangle over a phone image when i try to perform a backup.i have rooted the phone. can someone please help?

I had the same problem.
what i did not understand was that in order to apply the ClockWorkMod you have to install it from the normal recovery. It is not installed after you have downloaded it in the Rom Manager. (the update.zip file will be on your SD card if you have downloaded CWM in Rom manager)
So.. go to normal recovery mode (press up-volume + Power) and select "apply update.zip" (wording may vary).
Now you will be able to use CWM and backup \o/.. hope this helps.
Rooted you only get Blue recovery download "ROM manager" as stated
1) Open ROM manager first option should be "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" pick it! Up at top you should see green progress bar as it downloads.
2) Second option should be "Reboot into Recovery" , pick it!
3) In Blue recovery pick "reinstall packages"
***At this point phone should reboot into Green recovery***
- You may need to repeat these steps until you get Green recovery. I just had to do it like 3-5 times b4 my phone booted into Green recovery. In Green recovery you should have the option to Backup now. Create nandroid and move on.
(Tip: Nandroid backups are stored in /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup..... Nandroids are default named as the date and some other numbers for example 26042011xxxxxxx It can get confusing if you do multiple nandroid backups I personally rename them all to whatever ROM that particular nandroid is along with the firmware type at the end. Example of one of mine: Bionix1.3.1TBv3FW2.2. Bionix1.3.1 is the ROM / TBv3 is the kernel / FW2.2 is the firmware.)
4) Once you get into Green recovery you should now have the option to "apply sdcard:update.zip" pick it!
*** At this point the phone should have Red recovery. You may need to go into "advanced" and pick "reboot recovery" either way this should get you into Red recovery where you should be doing all flashes. Good luck!

[Q]How to boot I/O Edition on 3.1 into recovery?

I went through the process of rooting and installing 3.1 yesterday on my I/O edition of the Galaxy Tab. I ran into a couple of snags because:
1) I cannot boot into recovery using a button combination (see image)
2) 'adb reboot recovery' will simply turn off the device while I am on 3.1 (works on 3.0.1)
So, I eventually got it all fixed. Had my tab running the Touchwiz UX with root. Then I needed to use Busybox but did not have that installed. So, I used pershoot's package to install root, busybox, etc. Upon flashing that file, I lost root. Now I am unable to boot into recovery because I am back on a 3.1 version where adb does not work and I cannot use any apps to reboot to recovery because I lost root.
How can I get a non-rooted version of 3.1 into recovery?
Also, why can I not get fastboot to work? I have the drivers installed, and when the device is in fastboot & plugged in, I see a fastboot in my Device Manager. But fastboot devices yields no results.
In the attached images -- 0702 shows the screen I get when I use the POW + Vol Down combination -- a USB icon (taking me into fastboot) and download mode for ODIN.
0708 is just the screen showing fastboot when I select the USB icon at that screen.
You cant boot into recovery with hardware buttons on the I/O TAB 10.1
this is what i done:
http://www.mediafire.com/?gcenefqc3khcc0c
= PDA SIGNED P7105.tar.zip (ODIN REQUIRED TO FLASH)
Dont worry about the P7105 .. this is for the P7510 (TYPO)
This is Android Honeycomb 3.0 ... However, you have root & su.
Once you are all booted:
1-Go to market
2-Install Clockworkmod Recovery.
3- flash clockworkmod recovery for the tab 10.1
download the update.zip (Touchwiz UX) and put it in the root of you SD card.
download su_busybox_misc-sam_tab_10.1-051511 and put it in the root of your sd card.
go to clockworkdmod on your tab & choose reboot into recovery option.
flash the update.zip (touchwiz ux)
flash the su_busybox_misc-sam_tab_10.1-051511
data/factory wipe
reboot....
you will have 3.1 Touchwiz UX & root.

why don't you guys grab the bootloader.tar.md5 file from stock roms, and flash them via odin! Than you can choose between odin(download) and recovery directly with keys combo. But remember not to select re-partition else your bootloader will be locked!Once in recovery, try clearing cache, data else flashing a stock rom!

I have the same problem. The first time i went through flash TW and then it just got stuck on a blank black screen. I ran the ODIN PDA flash again and now I'm stuck in a boot loop with the SAMSUNG symbol that flies through the stars. Did you get a way around this?

Clockwork Mod Reocvery instead of Fastboot or Downloader on I/O Tab?

Perhaps the most frustrating thing with a Google I/O tab is the inability to easily boot into Clockwork Mod. You either have to go in through clockwork mod and reboot into recovery (which only works if you have a fully functional root going) or you have to trick it into working.
Is there any way to make the I/O tab function like the normal retail where you can make it a boot menu option or boot it directly from fast or downloader? I am using one of the 3.1 /w Touchwiz previews and lost my root. I don't feel like going through the whole re-flash dance just to get it back. x.x
Flash the bootloader from [stock][euro][touchwiz]xxxKFC rom via odin, remember to UNSELECT repartition, than on your I/o will have recovery and download options on boot screen. Once in recovery adb push the superuser rooting tools zip file by pershoot and install it. Than install rom manager from market and clockwork mod from it!
thank you.. just what I needed.

Micromax P255 -- Not able to flash ROM - only CWM

On my Micromax P255, i was trying the below.

and Novo_Tools.apk from HERE
2) Put both Novo_Tools_1_0.apk and recovery.img in /sdcard of your Funbook Infinity.
3) Install Novo_Tools_1_0.apk as a normal app.
4) Open NovoTools and grant SU (SuperUser) permissions.
5) Click Flash Recovery in NovoTools and wait for few seconds.
6) Next Click Enter Recovery in NovoTools and You will go to CWM Recovery 6.0.2.8.
Note :
i) If You Want to Go To Recovery :
ii) Switch Off the Tab.
iii) Press and Hold Home And Power Keys at the same time.
or
Use Novo_Tools.(Enter Reocvery option)
Note : This updated CWM reocvery contains the *** Go Back *** option which favours devices like P275 which doesn't sport back or volume rocker button.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
So after installing Novo and rebooting to CWM, my phone remains in CWM on booting. And after that i'm just stuck at recovery. And just before that i had installed Superuser by ChainDD and updated using that to 3.1.1. Now whatever i do, it is in recovery and my stock ROM is lost. Not able to even wipe data factory reset. Always says cant mount storages. Please if anyone can help me on this would be really helpful...
Also, when i format data/factory reset i get E:format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/nandh
Request you to please help me with this. Even though the tablet is connected to laptop the tablet display gets turned on, but the tablet is not detecting on the laptop. So i'm helpless here. Guys please if someone can suggest me on what to do would be of great help.. Thanks in advance...
I fixed my tablet by flashing stock ROM. Please close this thread.

[Q] 4.4 KitKat for the i527M Canadian Model

After getting help restoring the device, I'm now looking to see if/how I can flash 4.4 kitkat on my samsung mega 6.3 i527m. I've tried to install CM11 on it but i just get confused with the download links because they're so many different folders but they're all the same sort of file (CM11 4.4). Can someone show me a real simple tutorial on how to get TWRP on my phone and then flash CM11 on it or if I can't does anyone know when 4.4 will be shipping out to my phone model? Please and thank you! :cyclops:
Here's some quick instructions:
1) Root your device with Kingo Android Root. Make sure your phone is on debugging mode (about phone, tap the build name several times, it will activate developer menu)
2) Install Philz Recovery through Odin in download mode (Vol down+ Home button+ Power): [It seems to be less error with Philz Recovery on Knox affected Mega in my case, so I suggest you to use this one instead.]
3)Download the latest CM11 version. Go in ROM folder, then CM11, and choose the latest version.
4)Download GAPPS
5) Put the last two files on your internal SDcard.
6) Reboot to recovery (Vol up + Home button + Power).
7) Wipe data/cache.
8) Install CM11.
9) Install GAPPS.
That's it, enjoy!
