Greenify hibernates ALL apps - Greenify

Hi!
Greenify hibernates all apps, even the ones that are active (in my case runtastic and music player)
Before this bug: runtastic and music player active while jogging -> screen off -> all apps beside those too get hibernated
Now: runtastic and music player active -> screen off -> ALL apps get hibernated
Please fix it.
I think it's cm12.1 related.
Tried with Greenify 2.6.2 and 2.7.x all betas.
Still the same.
Edit: could this be the cause?
http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/105617/

Same problem here.
Running CM 12.1 August 16 nightly and getting Spotify hibernated while playing.
I believe there should be another commit in CM which breaks Greenify's ability to detect running apps.
Probably we should continue discussion in this thread.

The issue has been fixed in version 2.7 beta 8.
Many thanks to @oasisfeng for quick solution!

I have beta 8 right now and it works for Google music.
Sent from my LG-D851 using Tapatalk

I just did a 5 mile run and it shows as 1.8 miles. Every time I use Greenify my runs are jacked up

I had the issue, that Greenify 2.9beta3 killed my TTS (Text-To-Speech), TTS fell back to Pico (Samsung, not very good) then.
So I uninstalled the Beta (left the beta program) and installed 2.8.1 (not-beta).
Now it works again.
Anyway with the 2.9b3 there was some notification terror, which wasnt possible to disable constantly in the settings. I had to disable all notification of Greenify app in the system settings to get rid of this annoying stuff. Just Beta it is.
Samsung Galaxy S4 with CM12.1
EDIT: I uninstalled Greenify completely, when I noticed that it uses about 100 MB RAM itself.
I use nite the small Xposed module "prevent running". Much easier and smaller and does the same.

[Q] Greenify disables apps running on the foreground

Greenify "greenifies" applications that are in active use, for example Google Maps that I use for navigation and music streaming and player apps like Deezer and Vanilla Music. By "foreground" I mean that the application is currently in use, I don't go back to home screen. I just turn of my screen to save battery. Music playback cuts off after a minute or so and the only solution is to "degreenify" all music player apps. Google Maps will reset shortly when my screen turns off.
Is this how Greenify works?
The latest version with the donation package. [UNOFFICIAL] Xposed for Android 5.1 - API v64 / Alpha 4 / 20150514, HTC One M7. Xposed is enabled in the Greenify settings.
Greenify is designed to not hibernating the currently foreground app. Are you using any 3rd-party lock-screen app? It might interfere the recognition of foreground app.

Not to my knowledge. I'm on CyanogenMod 12.1.
I've experienced similar behavior for quite some time as well, on my Nexus 5 (LP 5.1.1, although I believe the issue goes back to at least 5.0). I am not running a custom lockscreen, nor can I think of anything that would steal the foreground.
Was Greenify compatible with the Unofficial Xposed for Lollipop 5.1 before the today's update?
I only tested a bit, but Greenify seems to be working correctly now :victory:
I'm currently having this same problem with Google music and greenify

Same problem here after updating my rom yesterday. It must be caused by a CM commit between the 10th and yesterday. Even apps with persistant notifications are being greenified.

It's really unusable at the moment. And I don't wanna downgrade to an older nightly (stagefright issue,...)
Same problem here!
I do not know whether this is related to recent CM updates, but I am also running Greenify on CyanogenMod 12.1 (20150816 nightly on LG D855) and Greenify is hibernating Spotify while it is playing (despite it's ongoing event notification). Both Greenify latest stable and latest beta versions have this issue (I was running stable and then updated to beta while trying to resolve this issue).
There is no need to hibernate Spotify.

I also have the problem with greenify hibernating running apps like radio player and strava. Also using Cm12.1, nightly 2608. Was working fine until about a week ago.
The issue has been fixed in version 2.7 beta 8.
Many thanks to @oasisfeng for quick solution!
I get the "app is not installed" error when updating to the newest beta.
The older versions don't have the fix what I'm looking for.

Greenify v2.7 beta 8 (Android 6.0, Smart Lock, Dim in non-root auto-hibernation)

This is the first beta version of Greenify 2.7. This major version is aimed to improve the over-all user experience in every aspect (if possible).
Beta 8
Fixed the detection for background active app on Android 5.1.1_r9 and 6.0, with new implementation.
Fixed crash on Android 4.0.x.
Simplified the confusing state reason of postponed hibernation.
Beta 7
Fixed crash during auto-hibernation in non-root mode.
Beta 6
Due to a permission change in the newest revision of Android 5.1.1 and 6.0, Greenify has to use the usage stats permission to detect the foreground app and avoid hibernating it. Unfortunately, this new implementation could no longer detect the active background apps (such as music player).
Improved compatibility with Android 6.0.
FIX: Xposed feature settings lost issue on arm64.
Beta 5
Foreground app no longer hibernates even if "state always ignored" is checked.
Reduced the impacts of wake-up cut-off.
FIX: Native processes cleaning.
FIX: Wake-up action in Tasker plug-in on Android 5.x.
FIX: No longer list disabled apps.
Beta 4
Fixed the reboot issue in root mode if core system app is greenfied.
Beta 3
Greenify now cleans up native processes after hibernation, to prevent self-reviving.
Fixed root mode on Android 4.0 & 4.1.
Fixed non-root mode on Android M.
No longer pause auto-hibernation when charging.
Beta 2
Fixed the manual hibernation not working issue when charging. (introduced in beta 1)
Beta 1
Dim the screen when performing auto-hibernation on non-root device.
Auto-hibernation will pause when external power is connected.
"Hibernate and Lock Screen" shortcut does not require device-admin privilege activated, and is now compatible with Smart Lock on Android Lollipop & M. (root-only)
Experimental support for Android M Developer Preview, with new "Shallow Hibernation" - application context and push notification are all preserved in hibernation.

About Android M support (experimental)
Since Android M is still in early developer preview stage, anything could change before the final version is out. So is the experimental support in Greenify.
Greenify now takes advantage of App Standby feature in Android M and combine it with the efforts of traditional implementation to create a new "Shallow Hibernation" state for greenified apps. In this state, app won't lose the context before being switched to the background and could also receive GCM push message in hibernation.
Known issues
The "... Lock Screen" shortcut with new implementation is reacting slower than before in some lower end device, due to slow root invocation.

@oasisfeng Thanks for the update. Working fine but the problem that the notifications don't get delivered unless the screen is turned on manually remains on LP. Greenify shows as push received "x" minutes ago but no notification sound or anything related when phone screen is off.
nice
I have a slight problem with the newest version: Any app that happens to be awake when I open Greenify just stays awake. At the moment Google App, Google Play Store, ACalendar Plus and Weather don't wanna get closed, they just stay persistently. If I press to hibernate them, I get a toast message that they're hibernated, but they are not... Now I don't know whether it's an error of function or of displaying

I have collected many logs in the past months. But both Google Play services and these apps are closed source. Logs are not enough to figure out why they can't post notifications even if push message was received.
Several attempts have been made trying to fix the issue, but still no luck yet.
Maybe they are not prepared to receive push message in hibernation state.

Have you connected external power to the device? If so, that's because Greenify will not perform auto-hibernation during charging since this version. The incorrect prompt information is the known issue I've listed in the OP. I'll add more clear prompt for this.

Greenify Google Play Services

Hi,
I am using the latest Greenify version (donation package) v2.6.2 in order to hybernate some apps causing wakelocks when my phone is in stand-by mode. I was also trying to hybernate all the google apps, such as google play store or google play services, which worked out perfectly by cutting off some reactivation paths.
In order to update my apps weekly or monthly I wanted to take these apps from the greenify list, which was successful at first glance. However, I am now facing problems in regreenifying them, especially when it comes to the google play services. I have no idea why, but this times greenify always tells me that it fails to hybernate google play services for no apparent reason. Also it does not show me the scissors tool to cut off the wakelock paths.
Has anybody of you experienced the same problems? Is there any solution for my problem? Thank you for your help!
If you use beta 5, that's why:

Still the same problem. Reinstallation of greenify and Xposed didn't work out, unfortunately. Did they change something inside of greenify without a new version?

See above post.
Galaxy Tab S 10.5 running 6.0 AOSP, beta 2 was working fine (except GCM feature causing random reboots like I've seen others mention). Then beta 3 now and boost mode seems to have broken, it takes that 3-4 seconds for each app to hibernate as if it was root mode (or even non root), and I don't think auto hibernation is working at all actually.

This occurred when I tried to add apps in the app picker or just select them from the hibernation screen.
I uninstalled Greenify and then reinstalled it and it temporarily fixed the issue. It was working fine for a few hours and then I woke up this morning and apps were no longer hibernating.
A reboot fixed this but I will need to see if it happens again.
Why this recommendation to uninstall the final and install the beta? What's that for? Why would the beta work better than the final?

There is no recommendation. Betas always contain some improvement or the other over the last final version. But betas may be buggy. Some people who are game enough, try these betas and report the issues faced by them if any and the Dev accordingly adjusts his app and then publishes the next final version. Betas may or may not work better than the previous final.

Facebook and Messenger won't hibernate

Hello guys, I have a problem with the Facebook and Messenger app, they don't hibernate even if I manually hibernate them.
I tried cutting off the wakelock path, ignoring running state and enabling deep hibernation, but even after that I open the app to find them in the "will hibernate when screen is off" section. They've been draining my battery crazily!
Any other suggestions to do?
Same here. I think a recent Messenger update somehow changed something that prevents Greenify from hibernating it. I am using Lolliop via CM 12.1 Nighly (the very last one before CM 13).
I thought so too and rolled back to some older version, still the same problem with no luck. It's extremely frustrating.
Having the same problem here after their latest update.
Same problem, I mean I only lost like 4% over 5 hours but it should be a lot less, it was Facebook and messenger in my partial wakelocks
I used amplify to limit the wakelocks by them, the wakelock is called bugreporter and so far it hasn't affected notifications, and now they don't keep the device awake anymore.
You can also download older versions which didn't cause the issue here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64816556&postcount=28

Same with me, i uninstalled FB but i need messenger for chatting
Also the persistant notification from Messenger seems to prevent it from sleeping (Sequence : Messenger is hibernating, I receive a GCM push that wake him up but then it keep being "up" if i don't throw away the pop-up....). Or maybe i'm totally wrong dunno

Workaround
This may be a workaround for now but this is what I did: I tapped on Facebook to highlight it. I then tapped the three-dot menu and selected "Put into hibernation now". A popup then showed-up warning of possible data loss or functionality problems. There is a checkbox in the popup for "Always ignore app state". I ticked it and continued. I did the same procedure for Messenger.
They usually get rid of this trick
